Yeah. That's really it in a nutshell. None of these Maxie stories really play to KS's strengths. She's playing these heroine stories when she works much better as quirky. Spixie was probably the last time I enjoyed her. I am not saying Spixie was awesome, but it was something different. KS herself looks tired and not particularly into either. And so many children. Maxie is someone who I think could work without children.

Thanks for the correction about the writers. Yeah, I have no problem with Marlena forgiving Sam eventually. It was just very quick and Sam had very little repercussions besides a trip to the sanitarium for awhile. Sam was living her best life as an actress in Hollywood like a year later? Who ended up giving Sam the kidney? I can't remember for the life of me. Oh, Marlena is very forgiving. It was just fast. I have no problem redeeming Sam eventually and her gaining everyone's forgiveness, but Sam didn't really work that hard at it. Anyway, really cool stuff you have with that bible. That's so interesting about Julie.

I have a hard time buying Chad/Michael all up in Sonny's business. I don't think he plays tough or even savvy very well, but he needs to do something different. I would say recast just because CD has a really hard time creating chemistry with love interests as well. Would GH ever do that though unless CD decided to leave? He's been playing the role for over a decade now. I see I found the other Molly Burnett fan on this board lol! I love MB and would take her as Maxie, but I liked Jen Lilley as Maxie too so I don't if I have bad taste or just really dislke KS.

I am not sure. It's likely. DJ was born in Feb 1980 and it looks like Ann Marcus wrote through 1979. It's been years since those Marlena edits were openly available on you tube, but I can remember Marlena wanting to give Sam her kidney and Don and her drs. strongly objecting. She ended up getting a kidney from someone I believe. A random stranger? But her kidney issues were due to her drug use and Don was rightfully annoyed Marlena wanted to give her a kidney while pregnant lol.

Sam needed a kidney while Marlena was pregnant lol. I don't think Marlena gave her the kidney, but wanted too lol. To be mildly fair, Samantha spent a lot of time in a sanitarium after the life takeover to recover and seemed back to normal. And Sam did die because Jake Kositcheck thought she was Marlena, so I can see the guilt factoring into it. I don't really have a problem with the name Samantha for Sami, but Marlena forgave Sam really quickly.

JER probably didn't give a [!@#$%^&*], but if I can at least give Carrie some sound motivation in my mind I'll allow it lol. No, Marlena/Roman did not know about the molestation when they named Eric. There are some really weird scenes at Roman's funeral/wake where Kim won't even call Baby Eric-Eric because it triggers her. So that's fine. Just bad luck on that naming. The whole Marlena/Sam stuff was all forgiven way too easily by Marlena. It was all good not even a year later. Marlena has a really bad habit of overcompensating and placating bad acts of others out of her own guilt. So, no, I would not have named my child after my twin after all that, but by the time Sam died her and Marlena were very close. And Marlena took Sam's death really hard and blamed herself, so I can see it being something Marlena and Roman would want to do.

Yes I think. To be fair though I think John was presumed dead at the time, so it was a bit of a pity naming lol I would say Sami first got over the John/Marlena issues around her execution trial in 99. She was fine at their wedding. And it just was on and off over the years, but overall I don't think she's hated John in years. I think it really is Sami's go to excuse when her back is against the wall and she just automatically lashes out at them when she doesn't like what she hearing. But I also think John/Marlena do coddle her and allow it out of guilt even though Sami is literally the only one who cares about the affair still. Yes!! Carrie actually lived the most trauma through that because she was old enough to remember. But JER made Sami/Eric the ones obsessed with Roman/Marlena getting back together. But on the other hand, perhaps Carrie had a clearer view on John/Marlena's relationship and love because she was older and knew it wasn't "fake" the way realRoman thought it was and perhaps Sami/Eric did as well.

I would say it's something that ebbs and flows. It's over and everything is fine and then Sami brings it back when she needs an excuse for something. Or when John/Marlena tell her something she doesn't like (especially John). It was clearly put to rest for awhile considering Sami named her child after John. Same with her relationship with Belle. It will be fine and then all of a sudden they hate each other.

I can spin my wheels and talk about Sami all day and the bizarre grudge she has against John/Marlena, but I have said most of it before. The first problem is we never saw or understood Sami's closeness with Roman outside the fact he was her biological father. Wayne had like 10 scenes with those kids before they SORASed her. The second thing is we saw John raise her since childhood and by all accounts it was a happy childhood. I understand it was traumatizing. I understand it ruined her already shaky family, but it happened so long ago and she still brings it up. The fact that Roman(especially) and Marlena weren't immediately sending Sami off to a psych facility after she kidnapped her own sister and changed paternity results at 15 is mindblowing. Shut up Sami! Marlena and John have been together for the last 25 years for the most part. It's over. Roman's good with it. Everyone else in town is good with it. I will give Sami a mild pass for the stuff she did as a teen, but she blames all her behavior on that to this day as a 45 year old woman. I often wonder how Marlena doesn't slap every time she brings the affair up. And I actually like Sami, but her excuses and ridiculousness can wear quite thin because there is no real basis for her bad actions except she's just not a good person.

Yeah. I loved JER's Days at the time, but the whole story made Marlena AND Kristen look sad. Marlena for being afraid to go after what she wanted because of guilt and shame and Kristen for doing everything to keep a man who just wasn't into her. I love Drake/John as much as anyone, but he's not worth it lol. But Bo and Austin were in similar situations as well. I think John was the worst because he wasn't upfront about his feelings at all and Bo/Austin at least were pretty clear on where they stood with Billie/Sami. John was framed as the ultimate hero (which I do think he is), but was actually just causing massive chaos and ruining lives under the guise of being 'noble'. Just extreme misogyny as you said, but I don't think I noticed it much at the time. But I do think there was a lot of misogyny in the 70's/80's too. Roman, Bo, Steve, Don, et all were all very dismissive of their mates careers and there was a lot of manhandling going on back then. Early/bad Steve was pretty rough with Kayla. John/RoJohn basically kidnapped Marlena before we knew he was Roman. Jack's a rapist. Tony's a rapist among other things. Don/Marlena have a sex scene after they split up that's borderline rape. Idk, JER made things extra weird, but it was always around.

I liked Zander fine as well, but there's no reason Chad couldn't have played Sly instead and had nearly the same characterization. Gh loves to give people kids and pregnancy stories, but they just don't ever bring them back or kill them off.

Yeah, GH really has the tendency to bring in random people when they have a wealth of characters to choose from in their history. I get they don't want to be Days where everyone is related, but why not Sly instead of Zander? Why couldn't Esme be Lila Rae instead? Cooper Barrett was literally not related to the Barretts and could have easily been Brenda/Julia's brother or Julia's son. There are so many characters that could easily slip into roles, but instead we have ME and RH playing multiple roles. Lol! I can't tell Willow and Sasha apart either. They obviously look nothing alike, but are like the same character. I think Chase does have potential to be interesting and that's more than I can say for most of those randos. Or you know Lucy's other daughter lol

I think it was a huge mistake to kill Karen off. She would still be a viable character today. I can see the appeal of her and Jagger as well. She was just whiny to me lol. I did like when her and Brenda became friends. Karen was pretty forgiving because Brenda did some crappy things to her. That was my exact thought. Sly could have filled the Zander role.

It seems like a lot of Renee/Lee clips are with Marlena. Is that just what is available now or were Marlena/Renee/Lee that close?

Seriously. I know it was bad and awful and Roman was a decent guy and Sami was traumatized. But John/Marlena had sex twice. They weren't meeting at a local hotel for years. It was an impossible situation but JER made Marlena out to be this sad woman who needed John to be with her and she wasn't allowed to have a life of her own. Meanwhile John was out impregnating women all over town and living his best life. I don't know of any soap character who got more [!@#$%^&*] for an affair especially since 1. she wanted to tell Roman all along 2. she thought Belle was Roman's kid 3. her daughter Sami is a psycho who still blames her life problems on an affair that happened 30 years ago. Idk, stuff happens. Marlena spent 4 years celibate to make up for her sins.

I actually think John is her least controlling mate. He actually seems to respect her and her career and gives her a lot of credit for 'saving' him. Roman and Don were always dicks about her job. And then I am not sure if John has some residual control issues because he still has some of Roman's memories? I think in the 90's it was worse because Marlena spent so much time waiting for John to dump Kristen and getting kidnapped and possessed John had to rescue her often. I have more of a problem with Marlena sitting around like a damaged woman because she cheated on her husband just wishing and hoping John would wise up a leave Kristen. It was the 90's not the 1950's.

Is it really any worse than Lucky or Stone or Jagger? Everyone had dumb nicknames in the 90's. Do people really still write letters? Brenda had an unread letter to Sonny. Luke has an unread letter to Laura. Read your mail people! It always seemed strange they never brought Sly back. The kid that played him was decent too.

Yeah, it is sort of a dick move, but it is very John. I would take that penthouse too, though. I think I am more put off by the fact the show acts like Marlena (a well known Dr.) couldn't just go out and buy or rent her own apartment. I assume Marlena wasn't planning on living at the Hortons the rest of her life. They don't even change Belle's birth certificate until right before John/Marlena's wedding in 1999, so I am not sure what rights John thought he had lol.

Julia doesn't seem like the Yoga type. She probably has another company or something, but I still want to know why she sold her pride and joy Barrett Industries lol. Got it. That would have worked fine for me.

Laura wasn't on the show back then. She returns a little later, after the Fluke story is over, and Luke/Laura go on an adventure to rescue Lucky or Ethan. Both? I can't remember lol I mean, I am sure Ron didn't think it was so easy to figure out Luke was Bill, but they started the story and then changed it, so nothing really made any sense. I am sure most of the audience wasn't clamoring for Jenny Eckert, Sly, or Julia Barrett to return, but I was into it. I have been waiting for Sly to return for years. What's he been up too? Why was he not cast as part of the teen scene in the late 90's? Jenny was lame, but I think I could deal with her if she wasn't a main heroine like she was during her original run.

I don't think there is a set I miss more than Marlena's Penthouse. I know it was an expensive set, but I would literally turn a blind eye if they were able to keep it and 90% of Days scenes took place there.

I have always been curious where exactly the story was headed. Obviously FLuke being Bill, but there was also those weird hints about Barrett Industries and Sonny called Brenda to ask about Julia/Barrett industries and Brenda said Julia had sold it years ago. Of course it was all dropped never to be mentioned again, but what sinister person owns Barrett Industries now and what does Julia do all day if she has no company? I wished they hadn't changed the story, but I am not sure what would happen once Fluke was revealed as Bill. Was Luke supposed to be hidden somewhere? Dead? Of course fans figured it out. Like it was said above, it wasn't subtle especially when you are name dropping characters that hadn't been spoken about in years. Is the Floating Rib where the Outback was? I always thought it was Jake's.

I can only imagine what it's like to be so boxed into a character when you had worldwide fame. It has to be disappointing on some level and I can see how someone like Tony would create a whole yarn about a character no one liked lol. I always thought Finola and Tristian had great chemistry. They just had more with others which is a luxury most actors don't have. Idk, I give Riche/Labine tons of credit, but it was also a perfect storm of good actors that could pull off stories. They really had great stories, but they did have the right people to deliver them.
