GH: July 2024 Discussion Thread
I think KV as Molly is probably the best interpretation of the character and this story we could have gotten and that includes how I imagine HP would play this. I can't stand this plot and don't particularly like Molly, but it was completely insensitive and selfish for Kristina to go on TV pregnant like that without telling Molly/TJ. I don't think Kristina was "claiming" the baby for herself, but she did put everyone in a weird position. Carly getting arrested was fairly satisfying for me though.

Oh got it. She just said those three names as people she needed to see because they are on contract characters not because they are the only three that get money. I just wanted actual clarity and it wasn't said on screen those were the only that inherited like I thought. That makes some sense to me. Again, I don't think any of this was exactly said on screen, but Fiona and Xander's upbringing has been vague so you could do a lot with it. But more Leo is probably more likely.

Obviously I understand that. I just don't know if that was made clear on screen. I don't remember it being just divided between Xander, Justin, and Brady. Maggie kept saying Victor's other heirs when I heard her speak about it. Was it said onscreen that it was just Xander, Justin, and Brady because I don't recall that?

If that was mentioned on the show I must of missed it. I thought Maggie gave some of it to Justin's children and perhaps Ciara/Shawn as well. I can't remember if Bo had a "trust" like Phillip but it would be weird if Maggie didn't give any to Victor's other grandchildren. Still, it sounds like there is money to spare and I don't actually think Alex will have to pay anything back he just won't have any money going forward.

Theoretically, Alex would have received the same amount of inheritance as Xander since Maggie said she split among relatives equally and she made it seem like it was quite a bit of money, so I would assume that Alex just wouldn't receive any more inheritance now and that would cover previous debts. Especially since Xander didn't use his initial "share".

Honestly, as much as I was happy Guza left when he did and thought he was completely played out, I would not mind him back now. Seriously. And not just because he would speed dial Vanessa the first moment he walked in the door either lol. Sonny/Jason/Carly are still the center of the show all these years later. At least Guza would have exciting things happen to them.

I enjoyed the episode. It was good. Echoing what @AbcNbc247 said about it being rushed. It seems it takes us forever to get to a climax of a story on Days and everything happens jam packed into one episode when this could have played out for a week. I like Fiona so far. Just immediately interrupting the wedding and exposing the secret lol. A person arriving late would just quietly walk in take a seat. Not stroll down the aisle and ask everything about everyone in the middle of a ceremony. Only on soaps! Way too much Leo. I guess Paul/Andrew might be in for some tension. I always thought it was strange Andrew covered for Theresa so easily, but we also don't know very much about their relationship as siblings I don't know how Brady can casually drink in the middle of the Pub. EVERYONE in town walks in there daily and the Brady family owns the joint. You would think he would get a hotel or go home and lock himself in a room instead drinking obvious martinis in public.

I am sure GF doesn't care, but I am so offended on her behalf. She should sue for what they've done to that character lol. And what was the point? Diana acts nothing like she did in the 80's, Leo wasn't John's son, Marlena/John didn't need another villain thrown there way and now she's just shrieking in jail. I have always been confused about why they didn't just bring JC back as Angelica instead of the whole Morgan Fairchild thing. It seems that would have made more sense.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
Well, Leo's got one less now that Ron's gone!😂 I know. I generally ignore it, but I want to see this alleged data about how popular GR is. I agree the concept of Leo wasn't bad. It was the execution. Ron also loves to take a character that has a little traction and a bit of popularity and beat us to death with them. Leo was witty and funny in VERY small doses, but there is no need for Leo to be in the middle of 95% of the stories happening on the show right now.

I think GR is a talented guy. I honestly don't think I would mind his character much if he popped up a few times a month. Leo doesn't actually have his own story-he meddles in all the stories. Most of the time he's just giving commentary on other peoples problems. Listen, I am sure Leo has a few fans out there, but I can't believe he tests well or tops any fan polls.

I keep hearing from you that Leo tests well. I am going to take the bait on this and ask who is Days polling? People on FB? Twitter? Leo is almost universally reviled as a character on this board. Are there any actual facts and figures on these "tests"? I thought Days ditched focus groups ages ago.

RSW doesn't bother me the way he does for most. I think he's handsome and charming enough. I wouldn't actually care if he left, but he doesn't really annoy me to much. He seems like he tries and likes his job. YMMV and I do understand him being unpopular just due to the enormous propping they did for him. The Days cast doesn't feel that crowded to me and I do like Justin/WK having a purpose. I agree, but it will never happen.

I wouldn't be sad about either Paulina or Alex going, but you can bring back Ben and I don't mind Paulina/Abe. I think JH fits better than RSW playing his second character or EOB playing a second unpopular character in a blonde wig lol. I am invested in both Chanel and Lani so I do see Paulina's value even if I can't stand JH's "style" of acting lol. It feels like they should just scrap a lot of RC's stuff, but I realize that it's way too expensive. A fresh start could really re-boot the show, but it still generally lands in the top 10 on peacock everyday, so I don't know if ratings are actually bad.

I don't see Jackee or RSW leaving, but the others probably will. It's a shame they were wasted because BB, EOB, and even GR aren't bad actors. They were just horribly written. 9 months is so long. I can literally gestate a human in that time lol. It's difficult when the news happens and then you have to wait nearly a year for action to show on screen.

It was one of those ideas that actually started okay, but went on for far too long with no real purpose. RC didn't get JER's vision at all. And I know JER had a real wild imagination and was a bit weird, but there was a reason no other head writer didn't want to touch that story. I know the OG Possession was extended by NBC/Production/whoever and we saw a lot of flashbacks. The set up, the plot, and the conclusion still made sense though. I mean, as much sense as a Devil Possession can 😂 It was the girl that played Morgan. I actually thought she wasn't half bad.

Ron played it for laughs. And the devil just hopped into several people. Allie, Johnny, Belle, Doug and so on. JER took that devil stuff seriously. It wasn't played for camp or laughs even if it was at times campy. Ron also forgot the fact that at the Possession's core it was a love story between John/Marlena. JER always had that throughline running even when the stories were ridiculous. There was an endgame plot. Ron just thought it was cool to re-visit it with half the budget. And the whole point was to so the devil could steal Ben/Ciara's stupid kid lol.

Lol. I know...budget, but you are bringing Paul back to have a few scenes with Brady and none with Marlena/John? Super random* I know Roman is Theresa's Uncle, but has he ever actually spoken to Theresa? Tate called Roman his grandfather a few months ago, so clearly no one has any idea about how people are related in Salem. *I love Paul, so any CS appearance is a good appearance.
