GH: September 2024 Discussion Thread
I don't really think Robert got lost in the shuffle. TR left and Robert was "killed" off. The show actively brought him back in 2006. The writing hasn't been great for him, but the man's 78 years old. I don't expect to lead stories the way he did 35 years ago. I am pretty sure Tristian calls the shots on how often he appears. Idk, I don't think anything shady is going on behind the scenes with him and GH. I wouldn't mind if they do just write him off and give him a happy ending with Holly.

I think the actor that plays Aaron is horrible at the actual acting part of his job, but he's cute and has charisma. Maybe the show can work with that because I do find him likeable. I feel like CJ plays Gabi a bit colder than CB did. I think she's a very good recast and is doing well. I just don't see Camila playing those scenes like that. What kind of apartment does Stephanie live in? As an apartment dweller most of my life there should be maintenance to fix that garbage disposal lol.

I swear Frank just picked a name out of hat and went with it lol. Even if Jagger was more about upholding the law and justice it would have made sense. Bringing up a 30 year vendetta is so dumb. Just hate Sonny because he's a criminal. That's fine. I usually ignore, but Ace is a baby. WTF? Is he plotting to freeze the world with the Ice Princess between naps?

You said what I was trying to say about Labine much better. The tone of the show was right for her to come in and she tweaked and expanded characters that were lacking depth or purpose. It always felt seamless to me. I know Bill Levinson wasn't great and no one liked his work on GH, but I thought the show had improved a lot with the Levinson/Riche combo. Agree about Jagger. He's just another random FBI guy trying to take down Sonny. I don't know what the draw or plan was here. Karen and Stone were long dead. Perhaps if Robin, Brenda, and his son were on canvas it may have worked. But if Robin/Brenda were on canvas you wouldn't need Jagger anyway. The audience isn't super familiar with Jagger anymore and neither is anyone on canvas besides Sonny and maybe Scott. It was a bizarre choice, especially the casting.

Yeah. I am not sure what ABC/GH/Disney/Whoever was thinking when hiring PM on and not cleaning out the entire creative team. I get it's expensive, but it's was clear from the beginning no one was working together toward the same goal. It seem destined to fail so Frank could get what he wanted again.

Listen, I consider myself one of the bigger Sonny "fans" here. Which means I mostly tolerate and have a smidge of affection for him due past awesomeness during the 90's. I find this whole arc extremely boring and repetitive. GH needs to figure out something that works because this is more of the same and has immediately made me lose interest. Even the Lucky/JJ return has been more of the same crap. I'll tune back in when

I think what PM was trying to do was much harder than what Claire did. Frank aside, I believe the tone, character shifts, and stories were going to be vastly different than the previous regimes. Claire was amazing and I am not trying to disregard her work. I just think Riche had at least started the process of overhauling the show before Claire came. Obviously, we will never know, but I got the impression PM was going for massive changes on the canvas-which we need. Although I do think the show has improved slightly since PM left. It's just more of the same.

Yup. There's not even anything for me to complain about. I have said it million times. It's a Guza era level of re-hashing the same story. WR/CL had a collaborative, productive relationship. They were working together with a similar vision. It's pretty clear FV/PM were working against one another.

I personally felt Claire hit the ground running and it was a smooth transition. Wendy Riche had started a year earlier and had cleaned up a lot problems plaguing the previous era(s). It helps that Riche/Labine seem to mostly on the same page and working together. Plus, I don't think Bill Levinson's GH wasn't awful and the tone wasn't that far off from Labine IMO. About current GH I don't really have much to say about this Sonny story. I was hoping for something different, but it's a wacky Carly, Sonny, Michael coverup and Kristina will probably get blamed. Then there will be this dilemma when Kristina gets charged. I feel like it's a story we've seen in different variations 10 time in the last 20 years.

I basically agree with everything you said. This character never should have been Jagger. I still can't believe the entire town knows Sonny killed AJ and it's basically an open secret and the only repercussion was that Michael was mad at him for like 6 months. I swear I keep thinking AJ will pop back up and absolve Sonny of that crime.

The Paradise Lounge was shut down by the cops for having underage dancers. So certainly some cops didn't look the other way. Jagger is right about Sonny in regards to most things. It still was a non sensical character to bring back and a vendetta from 30 years ago that the audience mostly forgot about. How many people watching today even remember Karen/Jagger? And if they did, like me, they were horrified he was re-cast with AH as Wagger. I am pretty curious how Sonny is going to get out of this.

I actually am not getting your point. He has spoken up for Marci several times. I am not sure if there is any actual proof there was inequity behind the scenes for either MM or KM. MM didn't want a contract. KM didn't want a long term contract either. That's up to them. They personally have never spoken on that specific pay disparity or harassment unless I am missing something. I don't know what you want Billy Flynn to do. Go on a tangent about Arianne Zucker? It was an interview about his character. I think what you are trying to say makes sense, but in my mind it means every single person currently working on Days should speak out and that's just not logical. For them or for anyone else still employed there. It's a nice sentiment, but not realistic.

I really can see both sides of this. It probably is a bit unprofessional and wouldn't be great in a normal workplace, but I don't have a problem with it. I should clarify that I didn't think Billy's current statements in the last interview were "arrogant", but he has come off very arrogant in the past. And clearly took time away to re-evaluate. I am still personally a little put off by him. I still think he has a high opinion of himself, but has become better spoken and more aware of how he comes off.

Thanks! I knew in my head that BF had more "issues" a few years ago and went off on social media for awhile there. Even with the criticism he gave on the interview he came off much more level headed and not so in his feelings. On this whole topic in general, I actually think BF has stood up for MM as his co star a lot. I really don't care if he dislikes the writing and he can have his say. I know I couldn't run around talking bad about my bosses or my job to a bunch of people while currently being employed, but I feel like acting/soaps/entertainment is a slightly different business.
