  1. So now, Trump is apparently trying to avoid withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord? This could've avoided had he exercised some common sense and just stayed in. This is an administration that clearly doesn't know what it's doing.
  2. Mueller has now hired investigators specializing in money laundering for this Russia investigation. Admittedly, I haven't listened to this yet but I plan to give this a listen.
  3. Follow up on that unsettling story about the mysterious illness that befell some American diplomats in Cuba. Castro’s denial: Personal assurance clouds probe of attacks
  4. He shakes her hand and then tells her to "Go sit down"?
  5. Apparently this is the 15th time they've launched a missile...THIS YEAR! That is more than any other time. I believe this, without a doubt. I was just talking to someone last week and we were discussing that between 1996-2000 was the last time the U.S. was anywhere close to full employment and the last time that many of us felt that our economic mobility was truly rising because greater job mobility always appeared within reach. The end of the Clinton years was when some of us just got out into the workforce, getting our first 'real' jobs. We hoped it would always be this way, then the recession hit in '01. Since the smaller recession of 2001 (made worse by 9/11 for those of us who lived in NYC at the time) and then the larger recession in 2007 (which many felt years prior), the economy has never gotten back to those pre-2001 levels. 2009-2016 were spent clawing out of the deep economic hole of the recession and growth has been anemic ever since. Also, the 'gig economy' has taken root and so many have had to resort to freelance work (myself included). As for AA, it's like that old saying "When white America catches a cold, black America catches pneumonia". To most Blacks living and working in America, this report will come as no surprise, we've been feeling it all along.
  6. Interesting, insightful post by Kyrgios where , IMO, he is very honest about where his is in regards to his attitude toward tennis. THE BATTLE RAGING INSIDE ME
  7. I saw the headline about the activity at the known test site but some days I honestly get so weary, I don't bother reading the entire article. It's not often but lately it's been happening more and more. A 21st century nuclear arms race...is all we need right now. If there was a sigh emoticon, I would've used that. Hey @GMac I hope you get your power back on soon.
  8. North Korea launched another damn missile! It went right over Hokkaido, Japan before it landed in the Pacific Ocean!! This is nuts, it has to be some sort of record for the most launches in such a short period of time!
  9. You and I are not the only ones to notice, it appears. Donald Trump Has Changed His Mind — a Heck of a Lot The GOP, though has other worries beside the fact that their leader is all over the place. GOP worries as state Dems outperform in special elections People call Trump a 'flip-flopper' but I think his administration tends to flop just a bit more than it flips. 10. Trump has tried to deny making a deal with Pelosi and Schumer in a tweet, then proceeded to tweet the details of the non-deal that he is denying he made. There is something seriously wrong with this man.
  11. Good for her! First of all, she penned a very well written open letter. It is well known that Woods 'likes 'em young' so I cannot fathom who wouldn't by now know that he's a predator. I don't know how many people remember a character named Rianna Miner on Y&R. The second actress to play the character is an actress named Alexis Thorpe, who was on the show between 2000-2002. She played a teenager to barely out of her teens, at the end of her run. Well, she dated James Woods! At the time she was 18. Receipts What's more disturbing is that if you search Alexis Thorpe and James Woods and look under Images (as I just did) you will find other women who are not Alexis but also described as "May-December" also on James Woods' arm, quite a few, in fact. The man has a clear pattern that looks more like a pathology at this point.
  12. Someone had it right when they said, "Say what you want about Nancy Pelosi but she gets -ish done!"
  13. This would come as no surprise to many of us that Susan Rice had legitimate reasons for unmasking members of Trump's advisory and transition team but this thread lays it out pretty succinctly. I'm reading that after today's meeting even most Republicans believe that not only did she do nothing wrong but her reasons were justified. Team Trump had two secret meetings with foreign officials, that definitely warrants investigation, don't you think?
  14. ITA that vets like John Dixon were absolutely needed, to maintain that continuity of history that soap fans have come to expect from their shows. I do agree that it's not the best thing to have vets eating up the show but that wasn't ATWT's problem, ATWT's problem was when they had irrelevant characters like Liberty and Janet eating the show. From what I've seen, heard and read, most ATWT fans could care less about the Ciccones. For me, personally, I would have liked to see the next generation of Hughes, Dixons (like Andy's daughter Hope), Stewarts, etc. take more of a lead in some of the storyline and incorporate their parents and grandparents (would've loved to see Kim and Bob mix it up with John and Lucinda over Hope Dixon's anxiety breakdowns in terms of her pushing herself too hard to get to medical school and the problems her binge-drinking to cope have caused). The answer wasn't to push the veterans aside but to have had them actively involved in the storylines of the younger generations in Oakdale. Oh wow. If only there were some way to send her a virtual Happy Birthday!

  18. Forsythe was very active in theater. He also did quite a lot of primetime television, in various roles. When you look at his resume, particularly from the 80s and 90s, it looks quite impressive. They sort of worked out something with Forsythe, even though, unfortnately it meant that viewers rarely got to see David. To be honest, I think down the road in the late 90s, Larry Bryggman would have skirmishes with ATWT over his desire to take on more work outside of ATWT. I wish that they could've found the right balance, although I know money issues came into his dispute with the show as well but I have read instances of a number of soap stars wanting out because they felt they were putting in too many hours on the show, getting burned out while wanting to do other things. The irony is that some actors were complaining of being overused while some were underutilized By the way, thanks for posting these videos, especially the 80s episodes. There are actually episodes here that I don't remember seeing and there are episodes on You Tube that I've worn out, LOL.

  20. Maybe, but it might've been dependent on what JC wanted to portray. She may have had no interest in playing another wealthy aristocratic dame. We know she had fun playing Marge and she may have wanted to play a blue collar character or someone in a totally different socio-economic milieu.
  21. Me too! I had no idea she was so well acquainted with Marland. Oh, to not only get the chance to see JC and Liz Hubbard, but add it might have drawn a lot of additional interest to the superveterans-- Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings, Kathryn Hays, Larry Brygmann, etc. Would she have been related to Royce and Neal, I wonder?
  22. The women's side by far, had more competitive matches. Really, it was only the women's finals that failed to entertain. While the men had some very entertaining matches, the women have been consistently providing the majority of the most entertaining matches in the Slams all year. Too bad tennis is too chauvinistic to acknowledge this.
  23. Both USO finals this year were just-
