I guess I'm becoming an apologist for those Heat Of The Day promos, but I maintain that although the generic one that blanketed CBS Daytime was bad, the individual promos for each soap were better. In this case, this ATWT promo for one of the funniest episodes I remember from that show-- this promo doesn't really do justice to how wacky this episode truly was.

Monfils is quite popular on both Tours. Now I wanna see what that's all about! (*chef's kiss*)

Okay, the generic Heat of the Day promos were bad but the promos for the individual soaps appear to be a bit better. This one got my attention because it serves as a reminder that Lauren and Paul were once a pretty popular couple. Also, the mascara that soaps used to use was pretty cheap.

On the previous page, I posted a promo for the Rumor Has It campaign for As The World Turns. I just found one for Capitol, which I think is also pretty good.

Does anyone remember CBS Daytime had a promo that used Patti Austin's The Heat of Heat song? I think it ran in 1986, which I think was the same year they used the Robert Palmer Addicted to Love song. Maybe each ran in different seasons? Both promos had virtually the same theme of ocean waves lapping up on the beach then retreating, revealing the name of the soap written in the sand. EDT: I found one example. I wish we could find the extended promos where he hear the actual song, no the reverb echo.

From what I've observed about Dzumhur-- he's a surprisingly diminuitive guy compared with other players but when he's playing well, he doesn't beat himself, he makes his opponent beat him. He's not one to give points away. Unless Tsitsipas has been injured some of those times when they've faced each other, there must be something in Dzumhur's game that bother's Tsitsipas' game. I wonder what Moratouglu has to say about this, he usually has a lot to say about everything. Serena has not been saying that lately though. Perhaps because she wants to avoid a backlash but I've notice that for the last year or so, she has only complemented her opponents' games after a loss. Ryan Harrison had an incident with Donald Young last year and Young was the one who bore the burnt of the fallout. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Harrison is again at the center of conflict with no Young in sight to take the blame. Doesn't surprise me that TC again gives Harrison cover.

I see your point but imagine if GL had given Bert Bauer the type of sendoff that Nancy Hughes got. Maureen was an ascendant matriarch by Nancy had already been a matriarch for decades. Her sendoff didn't match her significance to the show. That's why I said that it was worse.

And what used to look like blossoming romance has now been replaced by sex by a dumpster or countertop sex, which I guess would be considered a step up from dumpster sex. And you know all these couches being used as makeshift beds are not due to spontaneity but due to budget restrictions. Love in the afternoon, my eye! I miss the feeling of comfort where you can fully delve into the world of a particular soap and actually care. Now that I think about it, Maureen Bauer's non-funeral very much reminds me of what ATWT did to Nancy Hughes (Nancy's was worse), two of Nancy's children weren't even there. For their oldest character, who had actually spoken the first bit of dialogue for the series debut, it was a pitiful send-off.

It's not clear how often or how much Max Ehrich will appear on this series but he makes quite an impression in this trailer for Lifetime's upcoming dramedy American Princess.

Oh wow, I had totally forgotten about how Maureen Bauer's funeral was written. So much hagiography has been written about how the story provided Emmy material for the actors but people tend to forget that the funeral itself didn't exist and that the fallout of Mo's death was actually contained between mostly Ed and Lillian-- such a shame for a character that was slated for matriarch status. The Reardon's were all but cut off from the onscreen grieving process. I remember being upset, Ellen Parker was the only Maureen I knew at the point (Over the years, I've seen gone back and watched Ellen Dolan in the role and thought she was fantastic, better than her portrayal of Margo Hughes, imo) and Bridget was trapped in some attic. Reading that Logan article brought it back with even more context.

Meanwhile Trump is still lying about crowd size. On days like this, it's hard to be hopeful about this country's prospects.

All I knew about it going in was Natasha Lyonne (whose talent I've liked since Slums of Beverly Hills) created it and that she and Amy Poehler are the producers. I deliberately avoided any articles or posts, by blog or social media, that discussed the series because I didn't want to risk spoilers, so I pretty much missed all the hype.

Thanks @Khan. I remember that first one with Debbi Morgan saying "He just looked so vulnerable". And the promo with her on the pool table, obviously about to be raped reminds me of that Jody Foster movie, The Accused. It doesn't seem like mere coincidence. Also, what was that Bollywood kiss between Adam and Sam? Okay, I posted this one already in the ATWT thread almost two months ago but it is one of my favorites from the Rumor Has It campaign. As I said in the thread, my only quibble is that the images practically fly by. This one isn't bad either. I loved the use of the Robert Palmer song. Y&R had their own version of the Rumor Has It Promo. It gets points for having Stephanie E. Williams and Terry Lester but it doesn't grab me, maybe because the featured story wasn't exactly one for the ages. Clearly, this was before the #1 era.

Some of the CBS promos from the mid '90s and into the '00s were pretty inexcusable so I won't defend them but the early 90s still had some decent promos and out of those, CBS was never better than when they were doing passive-aggressive promos that grumbled about them having to cede time to sports programming, like this Guiding Light promo.

I'm laughing harder than I have in days watching some of these promos. @Khan Are there any actual promos for Generations? I'd like to see those.
