  1. It is comforting and for some of these episodes, it's like, brand new. I've seen the Steve and Betsy wedding but I don't think I'd seen the morning after. They already have Steve having premonitions of what is to come. I was thinking how nice it was to see a passionate evening with Tom and Margo having "sexy time" then oops, there's a snag. The fashions are VERY interesting, per the 80s. That half-shirt that Tom was wearing?!! Boy, I'd forgotten that people used to wear those, LOL! There was a character (Steve's sister?) who was wearing a very avant-garde design. The draping was similar to that of a sari and the contrast in the sleeves, which were asymmetrical. ATWT had to have gotten access to what was considered cutting edge fashion because that resembled the impractical outfits that you'd usually only see on a runway but the character definitely looked like she would not be out of place walking the runway anyway. Was the show trying to chem-test Barbara and Cal Randolph? They might've been onto something there. Speaking of chemistry, I couldn't decide what I thought about John and Lee Bryant's Lyla. It was near-miss, almost for me.
  2. Nope, I find myself doing this constantly with ATWT. I just want to redo and fix that last 10-15 years!
  3. Like I said in my post above, I didn't like their storyline either but it seemed as if she remembers it so fondly because it was an emotional lifeline for her during a difficult time. That 11-14-89 episode, I could see Iva with that Jason Benedict. He was a jerk but at least, he could compete with Kirk Anderson in the looks department.
  4. Having heard the latest Locher Room livestream, I can honestly say that for the first time, I can actually understand why Colleen Zenk is so attached to her storylines from that final year of ATWT. Don't get me wrong, I didn't like the storylines for the last several years but I can see why she speaks of it with such fondness, she explained why, so I tried to see things from her perspective. She'd had a very trying, frightening venturing on traumatic year with her treatments after the second diagnosis, she mentioned that she was actually in her last rounds of radiation therapy when she heard that the show was being canceled, so it seemed like she wanted material that she felt she could have fun with, so I guess she might not have been in the frame of mind to deal with "meaty" or deep material if it meant something that was potentially traumatic. She enjoyed working with Trent and she liked her storyline with him because it was light humor and fun. I think that Barbara could have had a much more impactful send off than an ode to Dance Fever but now, at least, I understand why she clings to that time period so much.
  5. The Bernie Bros. need to get off her aerola for once.
  6. Watching right now. In clip #3 there is a really lovely rendition of the theme in a scene with a forlorn Dusty peering out a window.
  7. Oh, I agree that Trump has his own separate agenda that involves his petty feud with Bezos but the Republicans have complained for many years about the supposed inefficiency of the USPS, similar to the way they railed in favor of small government for years. They are clearly seizing the moment and having someone like Trump who is far more hyped about tearing down the USPS than previous Republican administrations. In fact, I'm not sure he's even hiding behind privatizing or "improvement" of the system so much as he is in dismantling it or having run like a Fortune 500 corporation where he could conceivably make profits off of it as an investor. But the postal service has been on the GOP reshape list since at least the Bush years. As an aside, it's ironic how for so many years the GOP wanted small government, managed to severely cut personnel in the IRS and various federal jobs, touted it as "cutting the waste", so much so that the methods filtered down to many state and municipal governments that also hollowed out their public sector jobs (e.g. Dept. of Labor) under mainly Republican governors and now, in a crisis, it's all come back to bite. The unemployment benefits systems are screwed and in most cases, there aren't enough skilled employees on hand to fix those systems, resulting in interminable waits to get their unemployment. Same with the IRS and the stimulus payments. Don't you just love small government? It's nimble, until you really need it.
  8. ^^Discrimination is a key hallmark of the GOP and Trump administration. This is what it has come down to?
  9. The Republicans have been trying to privatize the postal service for many years now. Granted, it hasn't been as focused or lengthy as their efforts to privatize Medicare or dismantle PBS but they've been at toppling the USPS for quite some time. Longer than they've been trying to destroy Obamacare, I'd say.
  10. This wretched administration clearly doesn't know what TF it is doing.
  11. Y&R made its fair share of terribly stupid decisions over the decades. Letting talented people walk has to be at the top of that list.
  12. Just had a thought that it could make for an interesting theater piece to have a play about a marginal Washington couple who decide to use a time of political crisis as an opportunity to raise their standing by positioning themselves to opposite power bases. The twist would be that, by degrees their public opposing stances seep into their private lives and threaten to undue, not only everything they have built professionally but their entire relationship and marriage. I'd write it if I were more interested.
  13. ICYMI, the New York Democratic primary is back on.
  14. Maybe because I know this neighborhood so well but this story of a grocery store in a mainly black and Latino neighborhood that got out ahead of this pandemic and are taking care of each other as they serve the public truly touched me.
  15. Gardening sounds great. Last year, I had a modest crop of kale, peppers and tiny tomatoes (lol) but it won't be happening this year as the weather was not cooperating. Also, the circle of friends who usually bring freshly grown greens and other items won't be coming around for obvious reasons. What's weird is that there seems to be more leafy greens than ever at the supermarket. I think many shoppers may be going more for the dried goods and non-perishable items. Interesting quote from an article that I am reading about the "New Hot Spots" that are emerging in the U.S. Even though this was expected, it is still interesting to see how this is unfolding. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/with-new-hot-spots-emerging-no-sign-of-a-respite/ar-BB13C541 Another quote.
  16. I haven't eaten beef or pork in over 20 years and I try to eat more fish than chicken or turkey. When I first heard about possible infections (it had yet to be confirmed), I vowed not to buy anymore chicken or ground turkey. I've been stocking up on beans, rice, etc. because it's going to be homemade veggie burgers this spring/summer. May as well put that food processor to use.
  17. Some had a Long Island accent which is very distinct from the city. As a little girl, I had such a crush on Brian Bloom that I didn't care, I was willing to overlook it.
  18. ^^ That just makes me wonder what might have been if characters had been allowed to age normally. Very few soap characters have been allowed to do so and it seems like the ones who do tend to make the deepest impression.
  19. Uh-oh, some folks are just not dealing with this period of confinement very well.
  20. George Conway and a group of "disaffected Republicans" that refer to themselves as The Lincoln Project released a video called "Mourning in America" which apparently has caused Trump to have a midnight and early morning meltdown.
  21. Chris Christie speaking for what must be the first time in months and I'm already tired of him. Why couldn't his stupid @ss stay away??
