Well, isn't that why Felix got Uncle Toni? At 21, I'm not ready to make pronouncements on a player's career, especially when players today aren't even winning majors until their mid-late 20s and even 30s.

Madison was pissed enough to win that one. She got tired of losing.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Not to criticize these soap blogs and mags but would it really be too much to ask that they do due diligence in their writing before they publish these articles? It feels like so many are simply going through the motions, just to claim the 'preserving the soaps' mantle. If their hearts aren't in it, especially as it pertains to cancelled soaps, I wish they'd just let it go. Actually, that did sound a lot like criticism. Oh well. 🤷🏾♀️ This was on my Twitter TL when I logged on, lol. It was sheer folly for ATWT to make Marshall Travers a rapist. Well, lots of other shows know how fine this man is, and apparently their fans do too. I don't even know what show is being referenced in this tweet and I still got the meaning behind it, 😂.

Oh, I absolutely put CBS on the list of blame for the show's decline. Ultimately, P&G made the final decision to put the kibosh on the show. Even after CBS made an offer to "save" the show (only God knows what that enterprise would have looked like, considering the fact that toxic-as-hell Les Moonves had just taken over the top job at CBS, running the network), P&G went ahead and pulled the plug anyway.

Y&R: Old Articles
Even when you knew Jack had to be in a stressful situation, TL's Jack always kept that unbothered vibe. There was that great scene where Jack knows that Katherine has the evidence that Jack and Jill had an affair but Jack wants to find out what exactly Katherine knows and whether she plans on using it. He's see desperate but is clearly determined not to show it. He doesn't want to betray how worried he is. So he has this unflappable appearance but you know, on the inside, that he must have been churning. TL's Jack really was the embodiment of the "never let 'em see you sweat" ethos.

And terrible writing in the last ten-twelve years of the show. Also, P&G didn't want to produce daytime serials anymore. GL had been cancelled the previous year-- before ATWT, AW, a decade earlier.

I read that but Madison will still be pissed no matter how it came about. I just know that she doesn't enjoy playing Sloane, while Sloane enjoys playing Madison.

Madison Keys must be pissed! She has to face Sloane again?? Sloane seems quite confident when facing Madison and appears to relish these matches when they face each other.

All: Best scenes with mothers and children
This scene between Sierra and Lucinda is pretty funny and shows the warped relationship that Lucinda often had with her daughters. When Lucinda discovers that her daughter Sierra is getting a divorce from her husband, Lucinda shows up at the attorney's office to try to stop Sierra. This scene kind of made me laugh, the way it unfolded and the twisted revelation that unfolds and Sierra's response. EDT: This is actually a sequence rather than just one scene, because it is separated by a commercial break and mid-show bumper. Ot is worth it to watch the rest that follows the break. Just fast-forward through the ads, if you like. Bonus: Julianne Moore pops up at the end of the sequence.

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
It's not odd to say at all, I know what you mean. It is a song that lists attributes I'd be flattered to be described as having if someone told me this in the way he does it. Since the subject is "you", it feels like he is expressing this to the listener. I love a good R&B rant, like anybody else but a song that expresses admiration and attraction for someone's finer qualities, the way this song does, will always be pleasing. Not to mention the way in which the singer gives voice to that expression, adds to the pleasure of listening.

A Happy Days rerun surely introduced me to that song. That song is just a genuine example of good songwriting with heartfelt lyricism and performance.

Don't know what it says but honestly, I forget that Kenin is there half the time! I kid you not. When this year's Australian Open came around, I actually drew a blank trying to remember who won it last year, I had to look it up! Back in the day, whenever there was talk of a player wanting to break with a coaching parent, the default used wonder which WTA player it was, so, in a way, I guess that's...progress? Glad to see that I am not the only one who finds Berrettini dull. I remember that someone on Twitter once posted a split-screen image of Berrettini one one side and SpongeBob SquarePants on the other, as if to say that they had similar legs. It's cold, but it did make me laugh and now I can't unsee it.😂

The Politics Thread
Aww, Bo. 😔 That post by Mrs. Obama got me. It can become a tangled mess if the Biden administration gets too caught up in tit for tat with the GOP, which is likely exactly what they want. POTUS and VP need to focus on their agenda. This is not the Trump years... people expect actual legislation to be passed, not just parting shots and insulting twitter posts. If anyone needs to be speaking up more, it's the Democrats in states where the GOP's lies seem to be having impact. Yes, there are likely going to be times when Biden-Harris could feel compelled to speak but their first job is to address the many issues at hand that, if not dealt with, could have a lot more impact than loose cannons trying to inflame some people on Facebook and Twitter.

Looks like Kenin was the "blind item" about the player looking to part ways with a coaching relationship with a parent.

Well, with the Hughes hosting and Casey's nephews there, what did you expect? Strippers?? 😂 Besides, the stripper (who had 0 rhythm) was already at Brian's bachelor party the previous year.😂 By Goutman's tenure, the Hughes's house (as well as other sets) had practically been stripped and sold for parts. Tom and Margo's formerly big house was just a shell in the last decade. I can't even remember how much of Bob and Kim's house was shown beyond the path leading to the front door and perhaps part of the kitchen. I think they stopped showing the bedrooms by the late 90s. Let's not get into how piddling and pathetic Lucinda's mansion looked. SMH. James kidnapped Lily to try to force Lucinda to continue to do his bidding, once she refused. I mean, one of Casey's nephews already saw Margo naked in the bathtub, so there's that. *Shrugs*

I make no judgements in the NYC mayoral race as I no longer reside/vote in NYC but people like Wesley, a NYC transplant likely underestimate how well known Adams is among older Blacks, blue collar union people and those outside of Manhattan. He has made some missteps and definitely been associated with problematic people (which, since Trump's election, doesn't seem to be as damaging to reputation as it once would've been) but he is also known as the man who talked about police brutality issues and started the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care over 20 years ago (which didn't endear him to the white police in NY). Whether media analyzes that as self-serving or not, people remember because he was out in front of this issue, speaking at community events and platforms and people remember. Like I said before, it will be interesting to see where this all lands, especially since NYC will be engaging in ranked choice voting for the first time.

Apparently there was some confusion as there was a tweet sent out from Kitaen's twitter account less than 24 hours ago? RIP. Nobody with access to MTV in the late 80s can forget those images of her in those music videos by Whitesnake.

Yeah. She likely still is, on the inside. As for the outside, with some concerted effort, in terms of self-care, she can be yet again. I know some people find those scenes that feature group events to be chaotic but I love the choreography of the camera work against the ebb and flow of characters moving in and out of spaces. It looks so lively. The scenes between Kim and John and Kim and Andy seem very realistic of what you would expect from a couple and their kid when the couple's split was not amicable. My only quibble is that I wish there were a separate channel for the soap content from the news pieces on that YouTube channel.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
This Op-ed in the NYT does speak to a point I made since last year about the problem with indoor spaces being a dangerous conductor for transmission of COVID-19. Last year I told everyone in my family and friends to make sure they frequently open windows and I even posted here my concerns regarding lack of proper ventilation in schools and other public spaces. Of course hygiene is important (I refuse to believe anyone who claims that it is not) but last year's outbreak at a DMV in my region proves that spacing, even masked spacing is no guarantee as long as you are indoors with so many people. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/07/opinion/coronavirus-airborne-transmission.html?campaign_id=2&emc=edit_th_20210508&instance_id=30479&nl=todaysheadlines®i_id=15118680&segment_id=57584&user_id=5082fbe815e6ec912cf191e049f334da "Mary-Louise McLaws, an epidemiologist at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and a member of the W.H.O. committees that craft infection prevention and control guidance, wanted all this examined but knew the stakes made it harder to overcome the resistance. She told The Times last year, "If we started revisiting airflow, we would have to be prepared to change a lot of what we do." She said it was a very good idea, but she added, "It will cause an enormous shudder through the infection control society."

Y&R May 2021 Discussion Thread
Random musing: I saw a bizarre ad for American Girl dolls on YouTube and the title of the video was "The twins see Lily in Paris". And yes, the twins were black and somehow I immediately thought of Charlie and Matilda, lol. https://youtu.be/VoiQ7EAaCxg I'm sorry but that was just too weird. Dru, a ballet dancer once lived in Paris with her daughter Lily. Okay, well Lily's white but it's still a bizarre ad.

Yes, that's the lineup I remember. When I first started watching ATWT episodes again on YouTube, I realized that I had completely forgotten that Capitol was sandwiched between ATWT and GL, can't believe it took the iconic voice of Dan Region to stir that memory. Yes, it seemed more organic to have ATWT and GL paired together. In retrospect, Capitol looks like the odd puzzle piece. Yikes, if course I meant Central but couldn't recall the word.🤦🏾♀️

I kind of want to capture this comment and move it over to the Janet Jackson thread as well because I think it may perhaps say a lot about why Janet may not be as open as some would like her to be.
