  1. I blame Vogue magazine. Somewhere along SATC's early '00s run, the magazine decided that Carrie/SJP was their "It Girl", then 'It Queen' and it has yet to stop.
  2. What struck me was that, with the silver locs, Rowell and Kasi Lemmons now share a sort of sisterly resemblance, which takes me back to when both women once portrayed the same character on As The World Turns in the 1980s. Now, if Tiffani Caesar shows up with blonde-ish or silvery locs, I will fall out! 😆
  3. What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe this strategy will be effective? Or will the calculus change now that this tactic is being used against the U.S.' long running affair with gun rights?
  4. Apparently, Cattrall favorited a tweet that shaded the first episode.
  5. LOL. Someone in the replies said Peloton responded faster to Mr. Big than Carrie calling 9-1-1.
  6. That photo is obviously from before Hubbard would portray Lucinda but Potter is listed as having been a Producer on ATWT, according to both IMDB and Wikipedia but the dates are not clear.
  7. One post-script on Darlene Hard. She was part of one of the most iconic images in tennis, if not sports.
  8. Oh, just Victoria Rowell being stunning. @DRW50 You're gonna make me watch an episode of SNL now? I may have to watch a replay of this one.
  9. Probably not. Samantha was pretty unapologetic whenever she made a politically incorrect comment, she would say something like "what's the big deal?" Samantha wouldn't have felt embarrassed at all.
  10. There's a guy who interviewed Scott Bryce a few months ago. His live stream ran a bit long but he's so much better than Locher as a host/interviewer. I wish he could interview Tunie. Scott Bryce and Tamara Tunie are good friends, so maybe Scott could connect the two?
  11. I wish the guy who did the interview with Scott Bryce (son of TGL's Ed Bryce) a few months ago would take on more soap actors, he was really good, though his live stream was a bit over-long. My guess is that he knows Bryce personally and wanted to have him on the show.
  12. The reviews are bad but the franchise seems to have a devoted following, so there's that.
  13. I was surprised by the number of people who are upset that there wasn't more V.O. by Carrie. I really didn't notice, then again, I am not a big fan of the device, it always struck me as something of a "cheat code", like using too much music in scenes to try to wring emotional depth in the absence of effective writing. I do wonder whether killing off Big had more to do with Chris Noth not wanting to be a full-time series regular than it did wanting to "Go Big" story-wise by deciding that 'Big had to go'? It's fascinating to critique shows, both well and poorly executed, you learn a lot from both (obviously you learn more from the ones that are well done). In grad school, I took a Writing For The Sitcom course and one of the assignments was to watch and take notes on at least one terrible sitcom. It's far more interesting though, to watch one that used to have a successful execution, but no longer does than one that's merely terrible. Maybe this one get better (It's unlikely that I will stick with it to find out) but so far, the most unfortunate part of this limited series is that it's well, just not funny overall, with the exception of a few limited bits (which was mostly Miranda, tbh and the funeral attendee who wondered aloud if she was the only one who remembered how shîtty Big was to Carrie). Even if it's a dramedy, you still have to have at least equal parts comedy. MPK could have done with bingeing a couple seasons of The Golden Girls to see how it's done. The cleverness of early SATC was that it never took itself too seriously. I think this time around probably struggling to be relevant and all things to all people, this series took itself too seriously. It's not even about killing Big (we get it, Carrie, like Samantha, was always a character who was meant to be "free") but the biggest shame is the humor wasn't there. From a writer's standpoint, it's so fascinating to me though. I think I may be the only one that thinks so though, lol.
  14. That's why I asked whether they plan to go on or will this end after 10 episodes. Obviously, if the 10 episodes are "it", there is no need to address Stanford Blatch's portrayers loss, but with the SATC franchise, we've already witnessed that it never seems to be the end. As bad as that Divorce series that SJP did with THC, even that got a second season, so one never knows.
  15. When the 'merely wealthy' son of a senator takes great pains to carry water for the uber-wealthy. Add to this, the fact that it is also in direct conflict with the tax proposals of his own father gives a snapshot as to why the legislative changes needed to reform the corporate tax and the non-existent inheritance tax proposals are so difficult to make a reality. https://news.yahoo.com/rift-between-senator-son-shows-131045619.html
  16. I did wonder what the Peleton people would have to say about this. They had some things to say. 😂
  17. The media is too busy focusing on the many crimes of Jussie Smollett to pay anything more than minimal attention to pedos like Duggar. Personally, I could care less about either but it is fascinating how hypocritical media can be, depending on the color of the perpetrator.
  18. Originally, I had no intention of watching, because that was my feeling too, especially after the two movies that, imo, didn't need to happen but I saw opaque comments about an end to the first episode that was a shock and I said "hm, wonder what that's about?" Then this morning, I was actually watching a morning news magazine show and on the bottom of the screen crawl said something to the effect of "SATC fans divided on the first episodes" or something and I was intrigued. Then I even saw a newspaper headline that alluded to a negative review, so I said "okay, I think I might need to watch to see what all this fuss is about" (I didn't read the article), so I had to find a stream. My first question after watching is "How will they deal with the Stanford Batch issue?" Or do they not plan on lasting that long. Willie Garson has died and they won't be able to pretend his character is in Europe like Samantha, who they kept discussing as if her absence were a type of death. With , it's going to span the maudlin to have another long-time character die in such a short space of time. I guess they are at "that age" when loss can come more frequently but isn't this still a comedy? Speaking of which, the laughs didn't come until the second episode, and then they were few and far between and I'm including even From a writing perspective, I was surprised by how much the first episode seems like a pilot. It's kind of comforting that, as accomplished as MPK and everyone connected with SATC are, they can still produce an episode that struggles with the same aspects as everyone else like writing too much exposition. The second episode was much better, less clunky storytelling but still hung like a dark cloud, it's appropriate that the Eurythmics song closed out the episode. I think the episodes managed the aspect of grief well. I do wonder, in such an already somber time when loss abounds, how many people want to see consecutive episodes dealing with loss and death, especially for a show that was once known for punchlines, one-liners and oh, comedy.
  19. She does have a new movie to promote and Cowboy Bebop just got cancelled, so her schedule may be a bit lighter these days.
  20. So, Letitia James is not running for governor of NY after all.
  21. If only we had the benefit of a good interviewer but I will still tune in because I always look forward to seeing Tamara Tunie. It's a shame that this channel doesn't even get half the views it did last year, Eileen Fulton deserved more views for her reunion episode and so will Tunie.
  22. I hadn't seen that episode in years but I was watching and thinking, "wasn't the issue about his skin?" With Jon Stewart playing Rocky, of course, I understand why they subbed in headgear. I thought Gabrielle Union was pretty good and quick-witted. The actress who played Natalie, maybe because I don't really know who she is, but she fit seamlessly into character. And yes, Todd Bridges, alone onstage, announcing his late co-stars really did make me feel some kinda way. Watching Kevin Hart play Arnold made me think he had great comedic timing and then, I thought about how Gary Coleman was doing this at 10 years old and it reminded me just how talented he was.
