  1. It seems by the August episode that is online, that Lorie was back more in Leslie's orbit while Jill was battling Kay in court. It would have been great if Lorie was supportive of Jill's fight against Kay. Surely everyone in town had heard that Kay drove Phillip off a cliff. If Lorie doesn't at least console Jill or have it out with Kay, then it will baffle me. Lorie, even then, sounds like she wears her emotions on her sleeve. She seems quite fragile in those days. It would be almost neccessary to have her lash out at Kay over Phillip's death, at least once. Then move on, but it seems that isn't going to happen. I assume, by the sounds of it, that the most we get is a scene with Brock and Lorie. Bell seemed determine to keep Kay and Lorie from having any real scenes together. Jill and Lorie also seem to have had few scenes over the years, despite the connection to Phillip and Stuart.
  2. Jill/Katherine/Phillip must have been almost the entire show in June. I can only imagine seeing those episodes. They must have been on almost every day or possibly every day. As I was reading I thought, oh June will end with them going over the cliff, but it just kept going. Agree the story sounds intense. Jill coming in to Phillip's hospital room and seeing an empty bed, how sad, I can see why long time viewers were always on Jill's side, Bell certainly made her suffer. Plus having Lorie attached to the story to the end. I so wish Jill and Lorie had connected more about Phillip's death. I do wonder if there were any scenes between them.
  3. Thanks for tha info. You always have such well researched information. I was confused as Bell stated in an interview that he had nothing to do with the show once he left in 75 and the title "story consultant" was in name only. So it was a surprise to see that he had scripts from that period and I guess he was more involved than he stated.
  4. This might explain why Paul is absent from synopsis in Jan and most of Feb 1980.
  5. They have a scene with her in 1976. When Jill decides to keep Phillip and Kay threatens legal action. Snapper and Greg head to Mrs. Chancellor's place and have it out with her. Greg tells her she doesn't have a leg to stand on and will probably face criminal charges for trying to buy a baby. Kay calls her attorney who confirms this. As this was taking place some people from the Senior Citizen's Group were moving in. Kay had given them the house (unofficially at this point) as she planned to move to Europe with Phillip. But when she finds she can't take the baby she throws them all out and tells them to blame Snapper and Greg. Greg represents Jill in her paternity suit against the Chancellor estate shortly after. He might have cross examined Kay on the witness stand if she testified. He may have been Jill's lawyer in the property settlement suit in 1975 as well, not sure. Other than that I don't think either character had much to do with her. Maybe they shared some scenes, but it seems none of any real signifigance. I assume Kay might have visited the Foster home with Greg or Snapper there. Not sure about the plastic surgery storyline or episode Liz and Bill re-married in 1976 after Phillip had died. I am pretty sure Kay was so upset at losing Bill to Liz that she sent a present but did not attend. Though I do believe Jen and Stu were there.
  6. Derek was first introduced in 1976 but the story was scrapped after a couple months. Then Joe LaDue came on 77 - 81, but Jill had exited that triangle in early 1980. By May 80 she was already working at Jabot. Derek last appeared in 1984 at Victor and Nikki's wedding, though very briefly and I am not sure he was ever mentioned again, other than Kay referring to Thurston as one of her married names. Not sure why they never argued about him, would have been cool to have his name brought up in their fights. Bell seemed to just act sometimes like certain characters never existed.
  7. I would assume the scripts would be behind in terms of correcting pre-emptions, maybe even scheduled ones sometimes. The NCAA Tournament did pre-empt Y&R and B&B Mar 14 & 15 1991. There were 10 pre-emptions for Y&R that year and it seems there were 13 for B&B. Jan 17 I believe was the first official day of the Gulf War or something like that. So you would have at least Jan 1, 17, Mar 14, 15 in the first 4 months. Maybe there were three others in April that didn't affect Y&R
  8. I suspect you are probably right about that. Jon-Michael Reed did report Jeanne was apparently due to be axed when Kay jumped over board from a cruise ship in September 1980. But fan response to her character changed minds about it. Jeanne also reported in a 1981 interview that after Derek and Douglas were shipped off, she spent 6 weeks off screen. Yes I just saw an article that mentioned Mark and Russell. I also found the below article from the Los Angeles Times May 2, 1973, which seems to confirm Bruce's arrival most likely happened in May/Jun when Liz may have had her cancer scare. I assume the Jennifer/Bruce connection began on the show here too. As Bryna Laub has synopsis in early 74 that states Bruce hopes Jennifer can stay in Chicago longer as she did last summer. I suspect also that Jennifer and Bruce met up in the Autumn/Fall of 73 too when Leslie was on tour.
  9. On Jason47's site he has other credits for Bill Bell Story By - May 7, 1975 - Aug 1977 Story Consultant - Aug 1977 - Apr 13, 1978 This covers all the scripts donated. I assume once he became story consultant, he wasn't doing much of anything on the show. The story by credit suggests he was a lot more involved during that period.
  10. 1991 may have been Desert Storm interruptions. I am pretty sure that was around Jan / Feb 91
  11. Not sure, I get the feeling she was Mrs. Chancellor to almost everyone but someone on her status level or a romantic partner. So maybe Derek called her Kay and I would suggest Bill Foster would have, I think she would have insisted, she was trying to build a romance with him. I think Lorie would have referred to her as Mrs Chancellor or old lady Chancellor or Mrs C. but I doubt she used Kay or Katherine. I don't know why, but it seems odd she would call her Kay. I think once Jill was married to John she sometimes called her Kay, sometimes Mrs. Chancellor. Once the divorce proceedings began and especially after they ended, I think Jill only called her Kay or Katherine.
  12. Bell stated in interviews that he handed over writing duties more and more and stepped back from the show as the years went on. I'd suggest even before B&B, after Y&R had regained its own momentum, Bell pulled back more, and maybe that's why he felt he could do B&B (or Rags as it was to be known). I have an article from 1987 that states Bell and Lee Phillip rented a hotel room in Dec 1985 and began putting ideas together for the new show. By this point Y&R was on much more solid footing, and would begin hitting #1 again periodically. I do think he turned over the heavy lifting to Alden and Smith. Alden is credited as a Head Writer in newspaper interviews as early as 1980 (I assume Associate Head Writer) and every interview/article on her from that point on refers to her as a Head Writer of the show. Bell once said Alden's scripts are so similar to his in style and structure that he could barely tell the difference between one of his and one of hers. I'd suggest possibly from 1980 (just a guess) he may have stopped writing the show and focused on outlines only, which was why he promoted Alden. Bell hated the 1 hr format and didn't want to write a 1 hr show. Makes sense he would hand it off more to Alden, since she was a clone in terms of scripting.
  13. That would make sense on both counts. Thanks for the info
  14. I know. I think they must have known each other quite well at least through Irna I also want to know why there are Days scripts post 75 up to 78. I know he was a story consultant, but he claimed that was in name only and once he left he was gone and had no further interaction with the show. There was a letter published in some Days history book from 1976 or 1977 with Bell telling Pat Falken Smith how Julie should be after her marriage to Doug. Though Bell said he had nothing to do with Pat's tenure on the show. There are many questions I really want to know if he stopped writing Y&R Oct 24, 1997 - the archive just may not have his remaining scripts, but it seems odd as they have everything it seems
  15. I fixed up some of the above. 16. She is defintely there post 1984 as she is credited 10 times in the 1986 end credits. Pretty sure I saw a 1985 one as well. Also pretty sure she was one of the few credited in 1988 with Eric L. Roberts
  17. Yeah could be error, or he may have just had a few notes and not much else. Agnes may have asked his advice and it was nothing more than a few dot points
  18. In the Y&R old articles thread someone (sorry I forget who) put up screen shots of credits showing Bell's name as HW for Jul 3 1998 and gone the next episode Jul 6 1998 The script collection I posted shows scripts to Oct 24, 1997. So Maybe that is when Kay became co-head writer or maybe they just don't have his last few months of scripts As Ep I thought he held the title until he passed in 2005, but his illness was such that I doubt he was doing much with the show in the last few years of his life
  19. I forgot to add this. Here is a script collection given to Online Archive if California. Has Bell's scripts for shows he worked on with episode numbers and air dates. Does not say if he wrote all scripts. I say this because they have scripts for the show up to 1978. Maybe Bell was more involved with the show post 1975. He stated he was very much gone before the show hit 1 hour, but why would he have scripts after this time. I think he really may have been consulting and has down played his involvement http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf
  20. Yeah I was surprised by this too. Maybe Agnes and Bell worked on ideas for the show originally. Maybe before she did OLTL. I know he and Irna also helped a bit with Days as well.
  21. I found this online resource for Bill Bell's script collection with episode numbers and air dates. Good resource. Most interesting is the fact he has scripts to Nov 1995 and again from Jul 96 - Aug 97. They don't say if he wrote all these. Maybe he just had them in his collection due to being a producer of the show or maybe he was writing the show through that period. Not sure, but enjoy if you like getting episode counts and air dates http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf
  22. I found this archive for Bill Bell's script collection. Lists Another World with script numbers and air dates. As well as other shows he worked on http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf
  23. Hey I found this Online Archive listing for Bill Bell. It has scripts for ATWT turns with episode numbers and dates as well as the other shows he did http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf
  24. I found this recently. It is a list of scripts Bell donated to the Online Archive of California. http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf Does not say if they have a complete collection or if Bell wrote all scripts they have, but it does have episode numbers and dates. Most interesting is the scripts for Y&R stop on Oct 24, 1997 (Did Kay take over and Bell was there in name only and as a Exec Prod???) I will post this in the B&B/AW/ATWT threads too. Also interesting that he had ideas for All My Children as well and lists other shows he had ideas/notes for From this I have gathered the following episode numbers for the first 10 years 1973 - #1 - #186 (15 pre-emptions) May 17 - Watergate Hearings Opening Day May 18 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) May 22 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) May 23 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) May 24 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jun 6 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jun 13 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jun 27 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 12 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 17 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 20 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 25 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 30 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Sep 25 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Nov 22 - NFL Football (Washington - Detroit) / College Football (Air Force - Notre Dame) 1974 - #187 - #439 (8 pre-emptions) Jan 1 - 85th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Texas - Nebraska) Mar 15 - Nixon State of the Union Addresss (Unconfirmed) Jul 4 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 5 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 9 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 10 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Jul 15 - Watergate Hearings (Unconfirmed) Nov 28 - CBS SPECIAL: CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People / NFL Football: Washington - Dallas 1975 - #440 - #696 (4 pre-emptions) Jan 1 - 86th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Penn State - Baylor) Jul 17 - US/USSR Space Flight Mission (Unconfirmed) Nov 27 - NFL (RAMS - LIONS) Dec 26 - Sun Bowl (Pittsburgh - Kansas) 1976 - #697 - #954 (4 pre-emptions) Jan 1 - 87th Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Arkansas - Georgia) Aug 16 - Republican National Convention Nov 25 - Local Programming / Pro Basketball (Bullets - Suns) 4th Pre-emption sometime between Oct - Dec 1977 - #955 - #1211 (3 pre-emptions) Jan 20 - Jimmy Carter Presidential Inauguration Sep 5 - US Open Nov 24 - NFL Pre-Game Show / NFL Pro Football (Bears - Lions) 1978 - #1212 - #1467 (4 Pre-emptions) Jan 2 - 89th Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Notre Dame - Texas) Sep 4 - US Open Nov 23 - Famous Classic Tales (Journey to the Centre of the Earth) / CBS Sports Spectacular Dec 25 - Peach Bowl (West Coast only) so may be another date for East Coast 1979 - #1468 - #1725 ( 3 Pre-emptions) Jan 1 - 90th Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Houston - Notre Dame) Nov 22 - NFL Today / NFL Football (Bears - Lions) Dec 25 - LOCAL PROGRAM / Pro Basketball (76er's - Bullets) 1980 - #1726 - #1982 (5 Pre-emptions) Jan 1 - 91st Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Nebraska - Houston) There was another prior to Mar 4 Sep 1st - US Open Nov 27 - NFL Today / NFL Football (Bears - Lions) Dec 25 - LOCAL PROGRAM / Pro Basketball (Celtics - Nicks) 1981 - #1983 - #2235 (8 Pre-Emptions) Jan 1 - 92nd Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Baylor - Alabama) Jan 20 - Reagan Presidential Inauguration Another prior to Mar 3 but not sure Apr 14 - Columbia Space Shuttle Landing (Unconfirmed) Sep 7 - US Open Oct 6 - Anwar Sadat Assasination (Unconfirmed) Nov 26 - LOCAL PROGRAM (Varied on each coast) Dec 25 - LOCAL PROGRAM / College Football (Blue - Grey) 1982 - #2236 - #2491 (5 Pre-Emptions) Jan 1 - 93rd Tournament of Roses Parade / Cotton Bowl (Alabama - Texas) Sep 6 - US Open Sep 10 - US Open Nov 25 - NFL Today / NFL Football (Giants - Lions) Nov 26 - LOCAL PROGRAM
  25. The first credit I could find for Linda was 1989 Jim Inman and Mark Waxman are also listed as writers in an August 1980 article I found, though I have since misplaced it. They don't seem to be there by 1982, so I wonder if they were just there when the show went to an hour and left by 81 or 82 Eric L. Roberts came on board somewhere between 80 - 82 Meg Bennett came on in June 1983, she was to replace Kay Alden who was going on maternity leave (Not replace her in her associate head writing role, but just as a script writer) Meg was also a dialogue writer ETA: She stated she had written an episode of 'Search for Tomorrow' that I think never got produced, she showed that to Bell who took her on board. Jack Smith said he started in 1979, maybe he replaced Elizabeth H. An interview with Kay Alden from 1979 said there was only one other writer on the show besides herself and Bell and they were in California. No name is mentioned but probably was JS. At some point before 1988 Smith became an associate Head Writer Sally Sussman came on in 1983 as a story consultant and eventual script writer. She left by December 1987 Enid L. Powell came on around 1985 John Randall Holland (Randy Holland) came on as a writer in either 1983 or 1984 Since we have the German eps for 1986. Here is a tally of writers and the actual credited episodes Eric L. Roberts 19 John Randall Holland (Randy Holland) 15 Meg Bennett 11 Enid L. Powell 10 Sally Sussman was listed on every credits list available for 1986. I assume she was a senior writer on the show at this point. There was a big shift in 1989 listed writers for that year (that have not been mentioned) include Rex M. Best Thomas D. Walker Jerry Birn William J. Asher This seems to be most or all of the writers for the show in the 80's that I know of This one is confusing as IMDB lists Eric Friewald as Eric L. Roberts, but there are two pages for him. I guess he changed his last name?????? I also found this. It is a list of all scripts Bell gave to Online archive of California. It lists episode numbers and airdates or production dates. Some errors but very minor and is a good resource for episode numbers. They all add up. Worth saving this too. Most interesting is the scripts stop on Oct 24, 1997 for Y&R. Is it possible Bell stopped writing the show then and Kay actually took over, but they kept Bell's name on the show, maybe so he would be there through the 25th Anniversary? Also there are scripts for B&B that go through Nov 95 and then for a year between Jul 96 - Aug 97. It does not say if all these scripts were written by Bell or if they have a complete collection http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf
