This was a nice tribute. I could have done without the cliche with Marshall and if only I hadn’t encouraged her- she would still be alive nonsense. Milo of all people was the first character that really made me feel something in the episode, his grief seemed very real. This must have been a hard but very important day for the cast and crew.

That was a really nice interview. KW has obviously done a lot of work on unpacking her own history in her personal life with Jack and the show. Really interesting reading her answers. Nice to see Kin give credit to Genie without Tony in regards to how the audience responded to Laura. They had hooked a lot of people on the show watching Laura before Luke. It would have interested me- troubled family situation, David Hamilton, Lesley going to jail for a murder Laura committed, a cult, and then a love affair and rivalry around Scotty with Bobbie. All great stuff and all before Luke. I would love to watch all that today.

She was one of the absolute best parts during a rough period on the show. It would be awesome to have her back, but under Ron I have concerns.

I can’t really be too upset with Laura- someone who was deeply flawed and while her therapy happened off camera, Genie plays her with empathy towards the younger characters that make mistakes similar to the ones she made. But there is a fine line towards propping and this show crosses it all the time.

I do appreciate that we have episodes like this honoring these folks more often since Frank arrived. I have always enjoyed her on the show so I’m looking forward to this tribute.

There is also the fact that not everyone loves every job they have ever had. It’s okay. I don’t know why fans take it so personally when a performer speaks out about a part or show. I don’t think this interview is worth the venom EB has spewed. But I also don’t care if she had said she hated her time on Y&R. She’s clearly got a life and career full of what interests her. Truthfully, the older I get the more I have begun to be annoyed by some of these soap actors that clearly hate their jobs but stay out of security or inertia. We can see it onscreen! That’s just as bad if not worse than saying you are now above soaps IMO.

It needs to end quickly with him found dead and Chase having to prove Brook Lynn didn’t do it. Let Sam and Felicia do PI work, and you have short term story for 4 characters!

Thank you for posting this! The details were a little fuzzy I haven’t seen it in a long time. It’s one of my favorite Lucy/Kevin scenes, really shows the growth Lucy had as a person. She was still Lucy, just matured and less selfish.

The placeholder in my mind was Guza. His idea of Carly no longer worked because Laura Wright did not sizzle with MB. But they kept writing Carly like she and Sonny still had this undeniable sexual chemistry. They went to that well several times and the heat was long gone. It worked for me because we got Kate and Brenda’s return during the latter part of their dominance. And we got a slow burn of Jason/Carly starting to questions Sonny and their choices involving him. I will refuse to discuss what became of Kate as that recast might as well have been another character, they did her so wrong.

Jax after Guza/Pratt arrived always seemed like a chess piece used to annoy Sonny. Courtney, Carly, Brenda…he wasn’t even really a character anymore.

It really is the good old days! She had one weird quote and this thread has been pages of Brenda. I am now convinced. Bring her on, Sonny or no Sonny (at first). And hell yes to Liz hitting the sheets with Cody. It would be good for her and the audience. I do not think I can take another ME relationship on this show.

They did have a nice adult conversation, and Laura went to the wedding that wasn’t IIRC. Once upon a time I stumbled across an interview with Riche from early in her tenure and she alluded to the friction about that story turn and why Jane was leaving. Something along the lines of Jane’s personal beliefs limiting the drama of the character. I recall reading an interview with Jane basically saying the same thing, that she felt Tracy would not have an issue with abortion. I inferred that was why she wasn’t invited back during Riche’s tenure. ABC asked for the short stint to drive interest in Tracy heading to The City. I also remember Riche zeroing in on Scott and coming up with the Dominque dying story to bring some humanity to both Scott and Lucy. Something about an angel dying in his arms to make him a better person. I know the danger element existed before PC. There is a great scene where Scott has sent Lucy either photos or a video of Serena to watch a year or two after they left , and she remarks that Scott had given Serena a haircut like his. It’s funny and sad, which Lynn did really well back then.

I wonder. Because Scott and Lucy were two characters that Wendy really focused on before Labine arrived. I’m not sure if he was just burnt out (she tried to convince Tristan to stay, and everyone was run down during Monty’s second stint). I know JE left because she and Wendy were not in agreement with storylines happening with Tracy, specifically her being vocally anti-choice. Which apparently carried over for Riche’s entire tenure except for a guest spot ABC wanted for the relaunch of The City. Jane wasn’t welcome back until JFP.

He was a regular Amy at the nurses station or Ruby at Kelly’s (but less entertaining than either) in everyone else’s business. It was both ridiculous and hilarious. Now it’s Carly’s turn. I’m okay with either.

The only thing I remember is Vanessa being quoted as having met with him back then before her guest stint for the 50th. She was very complimentary of him. She did express the Michael thing being kind of childish for a grown woman, more of a dig at RC’s writing than FV. Much like Jonathan Jackson, I don’t know what the actual issue is on his end. These are natural returns that should have happened. Same with Lulu actually I love Vanessa, and Brenda. But I don’t see a place for her for more than a short term return. Robin, Jason, Jax and the Q’s she interacted with are gone. Sonny is in a relationship. Maybe they finally go forward with her and Dante?

The only thing missing is a corner photo of VM. Brenda back?!? Is Vanessa returning to GH?!? Can Brenda drive a wedge between Sonny/Nina? What makes me laugh is that a few years earlier it would say something like Missy Reeves to GH?!? Missy returning- but not to DAYS! For like two years after she walked out Missy owned that corner box. Then it was Vanessa for about a decade.

Smug Carly discovering Valentin alive was maybe the first time I have seen the real Carly in I don’t know how long. She had that old school Cary vibe for a little bit there. Very refreshing compare to what we see more often- kitchen Cary and her boring boyfriend Drew.

Ah, talk about nostalgia. A cryptic quote and tease about a possible Vanessa Marcil return. It’s like the early 2000’s all over again!

I’m about a week behind and these multiple paternity stories coming to a head this close together is very poor planning. I know we had Nikolas and Carly’s arrivals on top of each other in the 90’s. But the reveals were years apart, not months like Willow and Cody. Plus we cared about those stories. Does anyone care about these two? This was the worst shootout Sonny has ever been in. And that’s saying a lot. Dex being shot again is also ridiculous. Who would want him as a bodyguard. His scenes with Sonny are painful. Painful! That baby is almost the same size as Esme.

Does anyone else think Holden and Lily apply here? I started ATWT in the late 90’s, and I think the show would have better if they had moved on from them. I found them impossible to root for as a couple. I have now seen plenty of their earlier run, and I still feel the same way.

His reaction is ridiculous. I’m not even a fan of hers, and I see nothing wrong with those statements. She kept a job for income reasons. If anything this shows how smart she was at her age at the time- to not just assume she made it and give up her higher paying job. To me that interview was all about her, not denigrating the show. Also many actors do not want watch their early work. His comments are beyond over the top, they are out of line.

It’s like he read those Bill Bell quotes where he said he didn’t plan long term story or do bibles on Y&R after those first few years, and decided that’s how it’s supposed to be done. Except he is not capable at all of pulling that off.
