What a surprise that Marco was eager and desperate and unable to read a room. He obviously had no idea how much Christie hates him. Nice to see how two-faced LePage is. You can thank third-party morons in Maine for giving us him. Romney actually did handle this right. He seems to be better behind the scenes than he was as a candidate.

Thanks for answering those questions above. I'd wondered whatever happened to Anna. I'm glad she stayed as long as she did - I wish they'd kept her around even longer, as Zaida Coles was so talented and distinctive. Jody Lee must have been fairly popular so it's odd he just vanished.- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread

Given that after the narrow Iowa "win" there was so much talk of her leaning on old advisers again, and being close to pushing out that Mook guy who apparently just about singlehandedly caused her to do as well in Iowa as she did, I'd say that's a real worry. As for Trump, I think a lot of Democrats may end up voting for him, in large part because of his personality and his opposition to trade deals.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Second episode. Jacob really has aged a lot - it's hard to believe it's just been 5 years. Rhona looks a fair bit younger too. I've never liked her with Paddy and I still don't here. She was more natural with Marlon. Lots of good Terry (and a rare tolerable Rodney) scenes. Hazel was so rude, but she did make me laugh at times. Later she became an emotional vampire and an abusive harridan.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I guess it's down to block taping, but the dismantling of friendships and family relationships in recent years has hurt the show a great deal. Bernice almost always has scenes with the same few people, and Diane spends more time wringing her hands over Chas than she does with anyone in her family, especially Bernice and Gabby. I'd like to say this can change with a new producer, but I'm not expecting it. It's a shame, because Bernice and Diane have a very untapped relationship. This is the episode I got my icon from - it's the one where Leyla goes to her mother's funeral and clashes with Alicia. I'd say I'd forgotten how much I liked her with David, but I never really have. Sometimes I still wish they'd go back again, but maybe the past is left for the past. And so many nice scenes with Doug and Leyla too. This is Leyla 2.0. Not as good as Leyla 1.0, who had a lot more humor and quirkiness (Gavin Blyth took most of that away), but still pretty good. The current Leyla is a mix of the first and second. All the snappy patter in this episode is typical of that era, which is mostly a lot of fun...but it made Marlon and Paddy very annoying when not in small doses. I'm reminded again that Jackson and Aaron would have made more sense as friends than lovers. Andy's control freak issues get a lot of focus here. I really liked Adele. It was a waste that they got rid of her, but such is the fate of most WOC on Emmerdale. Alicia's husband/Jacob's dad, who no longer exists, was always so easy on the eyes, even if he had a smushed head. Seeing Terry makes me feel sad - the show has never been the same for me after his pointless, grisly death. The show had already started to have a lot of problems by the last months of 2010, but that was the last straw for me. If not for Robert I wouldn't have come back.- Star Trek returns with streaming series
There was a lot of backlash during season 2, to the point where the woman who played Beverly even had to write an article addressing the criticism. The action figure was something made to look like him (one of those Funko things) sold at cons. There's nothing wrong with that, if a producer/showrunner wants to enjoy himself that way (I'm sure it was for charity anyway), but it goes along with the idea of hero worship, and isn't he adorable and fun and goofy and so on. Beyond quality, that's what first got Hannibal a following on a lot of social media, along with "Hannigram." People went on about how much they loved Fuller and he was so wonderful to fans (pandering, basically) and on Twitter, and oh they're all wearing the flower crowns fans made for them, and "Murder Husbands" and so forth. That meant the people he and the show courted got personally attached to him and it meant when the show faltered in their eyes, they got even more upset because they forgot their roles as viewers, they forgot the wall that separates viewers from people who run the show. He didn't help matters with some of his responses to fans over his warmed-over stories that said fans had previously believed were beneath the show (like the "lesbian sleeps with a man to get a baby" episode). I've seen this stuff before with Joss Whedon, where not all that great years for BtVS (really, anything from season 3 on, but especially season 6) were made a dozen times more awkward because of fans who somehow got the idea that he was some sort of god. It just led to a mess. It blew up again with the last Avengers movie in a way it likely wouldn't have if he hadn't marketed himself as much as he had always marketed his shows and films. That's the main reason I don't care for his work, as it's the main reason I am wary of Whedon's work (and other "look at me" personalities like David Kelley, Aaron Sorkin, Ryan Murphy, etc.). I'm not a fan of cults of personality. It just burns out and ossifies. Although at least Fuller doesn't seem to have the issues with actors that Whedon does. If it helps Star Trek, fine, I hope it works. It hasn't had anyone with talent working on it in decades and deserves the fresh start. But since I was mentioned in the thread, I thought I should say why I don't care for him.- Fuller House
I was thinking mostly of sitcoms since Fuller House is one as well, but one or two of their dramas aren't bad, I agree.- Fuller House
If you do get it you might like Grace and Frankie, or that Kimmy Schmidt show, as they're sitcoms. I don't know if you'd like most of their dramas. One or two aren't bad - the others mostly get more press hype than anything else.- Fuller House
Depending on your connection I'd say you may want to wait for the DVDs. Their original programming isn't really worth the $8 in its own right.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Interview with new Gabby: http://www.nottinghampost.com/Emmerdale-role-Television-Workshop-s-latest-star/story-28814021-detail/story.html This episode takes place right after Diane catches Bernice and Carlos at it. She really tears into Bernice in some lengthy, powerful scenes. I miss the Bernice and Diane relationship. We got a hint of this when she objected to the farcical Bernice/Lawrence marriage, but it lasted for about a week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K04YnqXT8E8 For those like me who are not in the UK, you should be able to see this. It's a blooper from the taping of Thursday's episodes. It did make me smile. http://robronspoilers.tumblr.com/post/140049688702/outtakes-aaron-meets-his-sister-things-dont-go- Fuller House
I can't help contrasting to the middling to positive response Girl Meets World got. I don't think the unpleasantness of some of the cast members and the whole Olsens ego trip from the show did them any favors.- The Politics Thread
Trump having Christie endorse him today, when Marco's most positive media cycle yet was just starting, was very very clever. It also shows you how opportunistic Christie is - this is a man who was slowly coughed up the ladder by Rove-type acolytes, and he is now betraying all of that in an instant. I used to always say Trump would not win the nomination. I still don't know if he will, but I'm at a point now where if he does, I think he has a big chance of winning the GE. Hillary continues to be awkward when confronted, and that's all that Trump does - confront confront confront. And a lot of people eat that sh!t up.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread

The sad part is I think we were supposed to see Chrissie (more pathetic than ever...) and Lachlan as fun and endearing. Yes, how fun to see a rapist's mother encouraging him to spy on women. The woman who played Sandra is married to Dominic Brunt.- The Politics Thread

I said this on Walford Web, but at this point some part of me wishes they'd have a Jack/Ben pairing. It would be all sorts of weird, but it fits Ben's daddy issues, and I've always wondered a little about Jack. I do love the idea of Jamie Borthwick becoming a name in the US, but it's a shame if he does leave because he really seems to want to be a part of the show. I think if they write him out it will be their choice. I just wish they saw his potential, but DTC obviously has a lot of contempt for the younger cast, especially non-Carters. Speaking of Walford Web, they're having their top 50 character poll results. It's a good reminder of what a bubble we're in, I suppose, although with EE most of the older material is unavailable (blocked on Youtube), so it makes sense.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
