Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
I assume most of the men accused will, especially if they are rich and white. His career is pretty much over, and nothing is going to change that, especially since I don't see any of the "redemption tours" that the likes of Louis CK or Mel Gibson have gotten (I'm not saying Gibson's actions are the same as Spacey's).

Andrea Bogart (ex-Abby Haver, GH), probably not in a WATN she or anyone would be thrilled about. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-ct-sarah-scott-sag-kip-pardue-harassment-20190707-story.html

I mostly love that he was so uninterested in the job that he made sure to not even have to give her hands.

Your daily (or nightly) thought
That's true in some cases (although my favorite shows managed to be strong for at least 4-5 seasons), but for me it is about the chilling effect. If I know a network is going to go after a show two seasons in, no matter what, I'm less likely to watch. And I feel like producers will burn themselves out very quickly if they know they are only likely to get two seasons. Then there's Netflix patting itself on the back endlessly for how special they are and how they don't do what other corporations do.

People still go on about Bill Clinton (and I have never trusted or liked him I should point out) and yet will keep their mouths shut about all the people tied to Trump, and Trump himself... I see that many on the left are seething over a Nancy Pelosi piece with Maureen Dowd. I doubt she cares, and she's right not to care, but I'm disappointed that so many are still breaking bread with the truly terrible Dowd. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maureen_Dowd

Just another reason why I am increasingly wary of Netflix.

I mostly skimmed through everything but the fireworks (it didn't help that I loathe Derek Hough), but I watched some of the commentaries on July 4th. I noticed one woman talking about how immigrants "make America great," and a historian talking about immigrants building the Brooklyn Bridge - "they didn't build a wall, they built a bridge." Given how right wing NBC News is, I have a feeling someone is getting fired.

Only last week Trump said McCain is in hell. We're past the point where anything anyone says about him deserves reaction. You can really see the Barbara in that tweet. I'm sure her beautiful mind, wherever it is, is amused right now.

Nelson Sullivan, videographer for many of the priceless sights of '80s NYC, died 30 years ago today. The main channel uploading his old videos stopped uploading last year, but his work still lives on. https://wp.nyu.edu/specialcollections/2019/07/03/preserving-the-nelson-sullivan-video-collection/

Justin Amash, Trump critic and impeachment advocate, is quitting the GOP. He likely knew he was going to lose a primary anyway, so I assume this is for attention and he won't be running for reelection. Either way, get ready for our "liberal" media friends to hump their desks as they can dust off old scripts about Principled Republicans. https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/04/politics/justin-amash-leaving-gop/index.html

I watched a very glib and incredibly smug video from the New York Times about how America isn't anything that good. You could feel the sneer through your monitor, as well as the classism (in ranking a "#1" lists that we're meant to be alarmed by, they have "watching TV" right between drug abuse and school shootings). They don't get to give lectures about how much they hate America. A racist, anti-gay, sexist paper that led us to war with big grins on their faces, headed up by someone who still enables Trump and his family and cohorts at every turn. No. They are the worst of America. I don't want to see them wag their finger in judgment. They are a stain on this country, and always have been. If Trump does one thing of value while he is in office, it will be if he drives these papers into the dust.

I see that Carole King is going to be performing at the Capitol Fourth, which I have watched for years, and is now seemingly co-opted by Trump's big jerkoff rally. She's tried to clarify that this has nothing to do with Trump but is still getting backlash. I'm not sure I will watch this year or not. If he is in any way involved, I will not. It's sad that this monster ruins so many things, big and small, in ways that can never repaired.

Is void meant to be Bernie?- The Taylor Swift Thread
https://variety.com/2019/biz/news/taylor-swift-slams-scooter-brauns-acquisition-of-big-machine-as-my-worst-case-scenario-1203256624/ I am not really that into Taylor, but I don't like Scooter Braun at all, especially how exploited and desiccated his artists end up being.- Y&R: Old Articles

How could we forget. As mentioned here at the time, rhyming "Jack Abbott" and "black rabbit" was passed off as the height of wit. I also remember the lengthy and intense shaming campaign that anyone who didn't think MAB was the savior of Y&R ended up going through. Remember when seeing the Adam story for what it was (cheap baiting trash) meant that you couldn't accept complex gay villains or were homophobic?- Y&R: Old Articles
I don't have the same Y&R experience as many as I never had the strong personal attachment many did, but I did enjoy the show overall in the first half of the '90s. After flagging in the mid-90s I thought that 1998 was a great return to form. Then I started to lose interest again around 2000 or so, mainly thanks to things like Billy and Mackenzie and the sperm theft story.- The Politics Thread
