  1. I'd lost interest in Y&R long before, but for me anything from the time that Maria "honoring history" Arena Bell and the vile Sheffer took over is the dead zone.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G04pXupT_3A It's a Funny or Die recap of the "Becky and Jesse cheat to get their twins into a good school" episode.
  3. That's good. At least they won't feel under the gun.
  4. Thanks for finding all these articles, @Vee . I wonder if that's a season 3 cast photo or a new one. I'm very pleased Justina will get to produce and direct an episode.
  5. She actually could fit into Twin Peaks - beyond that speech, a sister for Sarah, maybe. And she used to be Laura Dern's roommate...
  6. I think a lot of candidates are focusing on the media more than the public because they still believe the media carries the day. The media does play an outsized role, but any Democrat who tries too hard to curry their favor will pay a price, because the media is always going to support a Republican and a right wing ideal. Obama froze out the media more often the not, and was right to do so. I think that a lot of people are nervous with Biden because he seems so shaky. Then there are others who have just never liked him, or feel he is never going to share their values, or use him as a proxy for Obama and their issues with Obama. If Biden were stronger then it wouldn't be as much of an issue, but between the apathy toward him from some voters who seem to be on the verge of sitting out another election, and his own frailty, I'm nervous about his chances in a general election. I don't really know if anyone else will be any better though. I would say Warren but I think she's going to be easily made into a hate figure and my guess is Bernie bros will stay at home. Kamala is difficult to gauge because she's very skilled and should do well on paper, but there is always such pushback - and very often from black voters I see online, who seem to intensely dislike her for various reasons.
  7. I think that there are two big reasons for why everything is near a boiling point for the left - one is that liberals are still torn between holding out for their beliefs and making sacrifices for what they see as the greater good (as shown in the border bill yesterday), and that liberals are still shut out of any real power, even with the House, and will be for at least another year and a half. I think some people expected differently once we won the House. Others didn't expect differently, and it just reinforces why they hate the Democratic Party, see them as corporate sellouts, and are either going for Bernie, or just not voting at all. You can feel the frustration and the desperation in some recent stunts, like having various politicians climb a ladder and go gawk at children in detention centers to show the cameras just how Seriously and Importantly they are taking the issue. It's so ghoulish, so ghastly - like something from one of those '60s dystopian satires. I struggle to be a part of a party that is involved in such sick theatrics. Yet that's where the Democratic Party now is, because they are boxed out of many other options.
  8. I'd say Warren and Harris have a decent chance of upsetting the apple cart. Castro probably has a decent shot at VP.
  9. Probably because of the Obamas making a deal with Netflix. Michelle Obama's craven plans to ruin us all continue unabated.
  10. Most of what I've heard about is Harris and Buttigieg. He has likely hit his ceiling, unless things really change, so she likely will have the breakout. I keep hearing about her calling out Biden and his struggling to respond. His struggles in how to respond to his past are my biggest worry in him getting the nomination.
  11. I'm glad they got another season. I don't really watch Pop as they have 500 commercials (Big Brother After Dark is interrupted by commercials every two minutes), but I will watch this. I hope they will take the opportunity to wrap up stories, especially for Penelope, who for me was not well served last season. I'm also glad that Rita Moreno will get this gift as you could feel how much the cancellation broke her heart. Netflix is becoming a really screwed up outlet. Shows that encourage teen suicide. Shows that encourage viewers to see homophobes as sexy and abusive, closeted relationships as sexy. Shows that "roast" Anne Frank and MLK. Shows that "punk" unemployed people.
  12. @BoldRestless thank you for those classic episodes. I haven't watched 1995 as of yet, as I already sat through that stuff at the time and have no great need to look back at present, but the 1986 episode was a wonderful watch. Other than the ridiculous spectacle of Lauren spelling out her entire plan so that Shawn would learn the truth and plot her demise, the entire episode was absolutely flawless - you can see why Y&R was barreling toward #1. The scenes with Nikki and Casey and Nikki reading to Victoria were the standouts. Melody Thomas Scott at her best. Nikki at her insecure worst, but really, she was right - could you blame her? Roberta Leighton and Melody are so perfect as sisters I still can't believe they weren't originally cast together. Beyond the usual fond looks at the PI office (I much prefer that place to where Paul would end up by the end of the decade), and the fond looks at the always gorgeous Andy, the high point of those scenes was Shawn alone in his apartment. The music cues, and the terrifying voice over the phone - all of this could have been from a high quality horror film of this era. At first I wondered if he was just hallucinating the whole conversation. I'd seen the bits with Jill before but they were still very good. Brenda very contained here. I still don't know what was supposed to be attractive about Sven.
  13. I don't really keep up with this show every week but I see some people on Twitter going on about poor Dorit and how she tries to be nice to everyone, and what a bitch Camille is to her. I don't get it.
  14. She'll probably get a gig at Faux News. Awful person. I read that Eric Trump was spit on tonight. Well, he's probably into that anyway.
  15. If he isn't forced out from a conviction he'd likely have to go from a primary. That's the second most Republican district in California and his father represented the district for decades. He also hates all the right people, to the point of bragging about taking photos with dead bodies while in the military. I'm seeing a lot of anger from the left about Democrats in Congress not being upset enough about Carroll's sexual assault accusations. The sad truth is nothing changes with her accusations, and if anything it just makes Trump even more popular with certain members of the public. And many of those who are upset support a man who wrote about how women fantasize about being raped, so clearly they aren't that bothered. They just want to be pandered to so they can feel morally righteous. Well, tough [!@#$%^&*].
  16. They investigate? What does that mean? I still can't get past how that site sneered at Twin Peaks season 3.

  18. There's a new poll out about younger people, especially women, being less supportive of the lgbt community, for the second year in a row. It's by GLAAD, an organization I have little to no respect for and which has been tone deaf for a very long time, but I don't have a hard time believing the results. Beyond the increase in tension over transgender issues, we're also living in an era where bigotry and hatred are encouraged in all corners, and people are more and more happy to fall into line with extreme views. This is also another example of why I think, as I've always thought, that the whole "when old geezers die off young people will make everything a paradise" concept is bullshit. https://people.com/human-interest/lgbtq-acceptance-rates-drop-glaad-report/
  19. This is the type of navel-gazing and attempts to cling onto power and shut others down that has helped lead to so many horrible moments in recent years.
  20. They were in the same orbit - she was in the middle of his drama with Jim after he pushed Jim off the scaffolding. https://coronationstreet.fandom.com/wiki/Episode_4477_(21st_September_1998)
  21. I don't care for Buttigieg, but I don't think he meant it that way. I think he meant he was trying to focus on his job (for once), not on whether she was voting for him. Buttigieg has never had any chance. He was mostly someone for the media to talk about until Biden got in the race and they had real stories to tell. I don't even believe he thinks he has a chance. I think he's angling for a job in the DNC, or on cable news. As I've never felt he was going anywhere I have stopped paying attention to him, but the amount of virulent homophobia surrounding him (including people who endlessly call him "Butt Plug" and "Bootyjudge") reminds me of why this party is so toxic and divided.

  23. I don't like FX and I read they had an odd approach (like giving Verdon credit for all of Fosse's successes and claiming she became some kind of shut-in after he died), but I hope you enjoyed it.
