I'm glad you are still posting about the show. I have a really hard time sitting through it - I haven't in months. The Victoria and Jacob stories just upset me, especially Liv blackmailing an abuse victim for cash. @I Am A Swede you're a big Emma Thompson fan right? She's hosting SNL tomorrow night. Their videos go up on Youtube. I don't know if it will be geoblocked for you. They also have shorter versions on their Twitter. Not sure if that is geoblocked. She has two promos up on there already. Also I don't know if you are a Freddie Jones fan but this is a 1974 half-hour play he appeared in that was put up yesterday. (I should warn there is some anti-gay and racist language). It also has the actor who played Trevor Thatcher, NYE Estates manager of 1978, looking very dashing in a poignant role.- The Politics Thread
And Trump is going around trying to get John Kerry prosecuted. This is insane. And incredibly dangerous. Yet no one cares.- The Politics Thread
I mean the man is getting paid big money to go around and tell us Trump is a liar and sucks the life out of people. No kidding. Everyone here has been saying that for 4 years. Where are our checks?- The Politics Thread
I mostly associate Castro and his brother with the hope that someday we will win anything in Texas, which I don't see coming anytime soon. I haven't followed Yang much but his supporters give me Bernie bro vibes.- The Politics Thread
I could say so much (like how Trump is doing all he can to take us to war with Iran and yet half the country is numbed by him and the other half blindly support him, so no one even really cares anymore) but instead I will just say how disgusted I am that Jim Comey, after ruining our future for self-preservation, gets a [!@#$%^&*] town hall on CNN. This man is the epitome of how privilege means zero consequences. And of why I never, ever, ever go near cable news.- Twin Peaks

I wasn't watching SNL on a regular basis for most of his run - when I did I just remembered him smirking and saying "Really?" over and over, which was the type of frat boy flipness that drove me away from the show (he's not that bad when I look back but it annoyed me at the time). I don't watch his show that often but when I do he offers some of the few critiques of Trump or Dems that I can accept in late night comedy or cable comedy - most of the others are trying too hard with the jokes, smirking at their own cleverness, or just seem phony. I feel like he's grown up a lot in recent years, leaving the very insulated and privileged bubble that is Lorne Michaels and SNL. John Mulaney said recently that Trump has made him realize the biggest lessons he learned about political comedy at SNL - that you can find the humanity in everyone - aren't true. I imagine that is also the case with Seth. Still, he isn't a bare knuckle brawler, and he, like all the others at SNL, clearly adored her father. He would have given her a chance. She gets so very many free passes and chances because of the love that many in the media felt for her father, and she just burns those bridges every single time.- The Politics Thread
I have to laugh at the pouting and fuming from boo hoo baby Jr over a Republican not towing the McConnell line. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/05/08/senate-subpoenas-donald-trump-jr-1312707 Speaking of unappealing and untalented oxygen thieves who only get support because of their last name, Meghan McCain is on a pout fest and her scumbag husband is on an unhinged rant because Seth Meyers didn't kiss her ass. https://www.gq.com/story/meghan-mccains-husband-cuck I saw someone going on about how upset Johnny Carson would have been. Yes, let's all talk about gentle Johnny Carson. He would have wiped the floor with her...when her makeup artist was done, anyway.- Twin Peaks

He was in straight porn, I think, although he was known for [!@#$%^&*] a turkey in one scene (a Butterball turkey - not a live turkey). He also wrote a tell-all that scandalized the industry, and he and Loring appeared on talk shows multiple times talking about his porn career. And they met on the set of a Traci Lords movie, which pretty much says it all about why P&G would have been no, no, no, no, no.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
The worst was when people were gushing if any generic white straight guy wore some color or wore a dress. I saw someone gushing about how Jared Leto, of all people, had helped "kill" toxic masculinity. Pathetic.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Already been denied.- HBO: Game of Thrones
It was only a decade ago that Nathalie was still on Hollyoaks, playing what had become a truly sad character who was mostly there to be a slampiece for an older, white mob boss. I never thought she was that much of an actress, but she had real screen presence. I think she has grown as an actress, while maintaining her charisma and poise over the years. I hope she has a lot of good things ahead in her career.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
In Lemay's book he said P&G objected - he never suggested that the actor who played him had a problem with the role. Did he say this somewhere else?- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I wonder if Saundra Santiago would have been any better if they'd cast her as I think they had planned to. I never knew there was another Antonio. I wonder if Malone ever thought of bringing Maggie back for the Angel Square story...- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
@Vee @SFK Someone put up part of an April 1992 that I had never seen any of. You get Andrew, Jason, Tina and Cain, Elaine's Dorian and Mia's Blair, and also more glimpses of that Maggie Vega character who always seems so odd that I keep waiting to hear she was actually a psycho. You also get Max at his self-righteous shithead worst, and LeeAnn huffing and puffing because the Buchanans are just so cold and dismissive and Viki is so MEAN. Alongside this we get a hilarious scene of Viki getting her Tori on in cold rage when she wonders what LeeAnn's SECRET...MISSION is. I can see why Erika was less than thrilled with this stuff. Gottlieb obviously had such a different view to the Buchanans that Rauch did. I wonder how viewers felt at the time about the whiplash.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
I read about that this morning. It made me angry, but I wasn't surprised. Creepy Joe and perma-smirk Mika have carried more buckets of water for men accused of abuse and assault than Jack and Jill did in all their trips up the hill. I still remember when Mika tried to strongarm victims through their show. They are nasty people, wastes of airtime and of skin. They are no better than Trump.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
He doesn't. It's been a rotgut show for a long time now. The same people who claim the show is now horrible were quiet, or even openly supportive, of equally and in some cases even more disgusting, outright offensive stories over the last decade.- The Politics Thread
On the one hand I think Joe Biden is much more than just past actions which I think he genuinely regrets, and other than Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris he's the Democrat I could most see myself voting for, but there is also so much drama surrounding him, and I'm so tired of drama. Maybe this is what we will get from now on with any real candidate, I don't know. I saw a tweet going around today outraged over him praising Cheney. The problem is he did that in 2015, not today. People want to focus on today. Or they should want to. I think that Biden's poll numbers, which have (for now anyway) been much stronger than I would have expected, go to what you're talking about - a certain backlash against the outrage left.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I wouldn't say he's even close. Corrie does not allow any producer to make a fraction of the changes she made at her soaps. You can't ruin Corrie. It's been dead for 10-15 years. Just as Emmerdale was already in terrible shape before he arrived.- The Politics Thread
It's their daddy issues. They desperately want to see Trump as a strong father. I'll never forget seeing supposed political reporters talking about how Romney was so masculine it gave them a stir. This is the real basis of so much of our times - men who need to take their daddy kink into a much less destructive line of work.- The Politics Thread
I'll never forget the reports of just how awful Blackwater treated the troops - things like blood on the floors. And now it looks like there are reports of tanks running over protesters in Venezuela. The cronies who claim to want the country's "freedom" will have more of a reason for their schemes, without admitting that their meddling has made the situation even worse and put even more lives at stake. Oh, and we're threatening Cuba and Russia too. I'm so glad we have such brilliant minds and leaders in the White House now. - Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
