  1. Passions did worse a decade later and no one seemed to care. I think daytime became something most stopped caring about by that point.
  2. https://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-05-25/emmerdale-star-paula-tilbrook-i-asked-the-producer-not-to-have-betty-murdered/ “I did ask Kate Oates, our producer, to not have me murdered,” Tilbrook says. “I was fed up of murders. It’s a very dangerous place to be. You’re better off in the Bronx than Emmerdale village. And she said to me, ‘oh no, of course I won’t’. And she hasn’t. It’s a proper happy ending. Who doesn’t like a happy ending?”
  3. The worst part of Woolery's BS is I have a feeling the stuff with his son might have just been used by him because of backlash. He's absolute scum. Anyway...there are so many stories like this but my heart just breaks for her.
  4. Accusations against Kevin Connolly. (he says the encounter was consensual) https://deadline.com/2020/07/kevin-connolly-sexual-assault-rape-denial-costume-designer-1202986675/
  5. Trump has demoted Brad Parscale, replacing him with one of Chris Christie's old stooges (who was dumped by Christie due to loss of confidence). He handled this in his usual great way. Before we get the inevitable gushing articles of Trump's brilliant, revived campaign, we can at least have a moment to laugh about Brad "death star" Parscale.
  6. After Maureen's death and the unbearable Nick and Buzz domination, I was pretty much already defeated by GL by the time of Brent/Marian. As a result, it didn't bother me as much as I know it bothered other fans, although killing Nadine in the manner they did was grotesque, and falsifying Lucy's HIV test results was gross. The story was well-executed and the show as a whole improved around that time, making me care about most of the people in Springfield again, so I could be more forgiving (it completely crashed by summer '96, sadly, and the show was very, very lucky that it was not canceled). I hate the idea of raping a character to make viewers like her, but I do think Sonia Satra's performances improved dramatically (being beside an immense talent like Frank Beaty probably helped). As for Felicia, I do see the comparisons, but Kristina Wagner was a much warmer presence and her nasal voice didn't stand out as much on GH (her frequent scene partner Jackie Zeman also had a nasal voice, when she wasn't baby talking).
  7. I didn't get to save them as of yet as my Internet has slowed down a lot in recent months, but that's on me. I completely understand your choice. I'm very sorry that happened to you. It's unfortunate that ego and turf wars and selfishness so often ruin things for fans. Thank you for what you did share.
  8. Yet again COVID makes fools of...fools. This rotting dogshit was at Trump's hate rally too.
  9. I know there will be a full court press to get him 4 more years, which is hard to combat or is best left to Biden's response team, so my main worry at this point is just all the voter suppression and destruction of reforms. Ideally if Democrats win the Senate and the White House some of this will be fixed, if given time.
  10. Betty did fit in from the start, felt like she'd been there from the start, even though she came in at such a crazy time for Emmerdale. Paula could play anything from slapstick comedy to high drama, and always had such an easy onscreen rapport with those around her. As Emmerdale moved further and further away from family and community, Betty still embodied those crucial ties. I'm glad Paula spoke up about the show's decay as she was leaving. I'm not sure if they will kill Betty off (they still haven't had anything about Annie) but if they do I hope they will do so with dignity.
  11. I guess the media is going to push a Trump comeback narrative (again) over his preferred candidates prevailing in primaries today (pity the Texans who will now have his drunken doctor for a Congressman) and because it will help distract from the flop sweat (his rambling speech today; Ivanka hawking Goya beans like Joan Crawford in the old supermarket promotional film, Don Jr using his teenage brother to try to score a cheap shot against Biden after the right wing and his prostitute mother went on and on about never bringing him up) - Politico ran a strange story gushing about how his commuting Roger Stone had been a win for him because the base was fired up and no one else in the party could criticize. Whatever happens with the seat in November, I'm glad that Sessions was humiliated by Trump for years and then lost resoundingly. He is a proud racist and all around bigot who sold his soul and paid the price. And here is another dumbass. Gotta love that liberal voter fraud:
  12. Media darling Josh Hawley, proven to be a liar and a phony yet again.
  13. I've read Sullivan off and on from the "milky loads" days (NSFW NSFW....and...NSFW) and he has really gone off the deep end recently, winking and nodding at his old racist pseudo-science past while not endlessly obsessing over the evils of transgender activists, college campuses, and cancel culture. There are so many absolutely hysterical journalists who take up too much time and discourse and control too much of our narrative. They have given Trump and the GOP so many talking points this past month, and continue to do so. Awful Caitlin Flanagan actually claimed that Weiss quitting her job is "the biggest news story in years." She really did! If Trump gets reelected, these hacks are a big reason why. I wish they would just drop their endless posturing and own up to how they love and need him. They are sick in the head.
  14. Thanks, @Faulkner.Naturally she is making it all about what a victim she is, as she always does. She is just a talentless, deeply destructive hack. Yet she is the face of who so many today want us to prioritize and use as an example of why "the left" and "cancel culture" is more damaging than Trump. One of her other fellow hacks was involved in this hilarious act of aggressive wankery on her behalf.
  15. I think I posted it a few months back but it's easy to miss. Sorry to hear that channel is gone. I never did get to watch those new 1985 videos.
  16. Right as Trump begs the media to help him because without him they won't get ratings, the NYT indulges: They will do anything to help this monster. They are monsters themselves.
  17. That's very sad. There's so much tragedy and depression in the Presley family - for three generations now.
  18. Just shameful and wretched. They are so desperate to get this man 4 more years they will do absolutely anything, even gassing up the bare minimum, well after the fact.
  19. https://deadline.com/2020/07/brandis-kemp-dies-actress-fridays-aftermash-was-76-obituary-1202982368/
  20. Sorry, I should have put a warning on how gross the old days could be... That era is "my" SNL and I still love and miss so many from that period, especially Jan and Phil. I'm so glad Susan got to host around then. Game Breakers, the monologue, and All My Luggage are absolutely timeless.
  21. Finally, more media focus on what a phony and a scumbag Jeff Zucker is.
  22. The quality of the show really drops markedly after the Dobsons leave. I wish they had stayed longer, as it seems like, other than a few years at SB, GL was their peak. Absolutely gripping emotional drama and very layered, human characters, and full of top-notch performances. Some of the material can be tiring at times, especially the perpetually suffering ladies (which is probably one of the reasons viewers seemed to embrace Katie so quickly even though she was very alien to most of the GL I've seen up to that point), but it is still strong. Brilliant a writer as Marland is, there is a strangely rudderless and small feeling and also an inherent blandness that creeps over the canvas, made even more jarring by the random as hell camp camp camp camp that bursts through.
  23. Someone has been uploading every SNL episode onto the Internet Archives. This one has, at about 23 minutes, Susan Lucci's bit in a Night of 1,000 Stars event that was "attended" by Billy Crystal's Fernando Lamas. https://archive.org/details/saturday-night-live-s-10-e-14-pamela-sue-martin-power-station_202007 This is Susan's episode. She was fortunate in that she not only hosted at a time when the show was well-written, but also at a low for female cast members, with Jan Hooks having to do most of the heavy lifting. As a result she has starring roles in three sketches along with smaller bits in others (she's only missing from one sketch the whole night) - I'm sure you've all seen the main two more than once, but there's another where she plays a mother-from-hell sending her teenage daughter into crying jags that is also worth a watch. https://archive.org/details/saturday-night-live-s-16-e-02-susan-lucci-hothouse-flowers
  24. It's the grifters and Bernie lovers who think if you care about racism, you are ignoring the pain of white voters who would otherwise be on your side (I'll never forget one of them saying that if Trump just "toned down the racism" she'd vote for him). Many on the left are racist and hide that behind populism. They say oh he's anti-war (he isn't) or he says common sense things (he doesn't), you don't have to agree with everything an ally says. Also Krystal Ball or Glenn Greenwald types who love to go on his show and laugh along with him.
  25. Waiting for all those "cancel culture" people to pitch a fit and demand his job back. They will too...and all those trashbag fauxgressives who love Tucker and claim he is a populist hero will be upset too since they are all more than fine with racism to get what they want.
