  1. I think I remember some saying that viewers had grown to accept him by the time he was killed off and the decision wasn't that popular, but I don't know if that's true or not.
  2. I saw some claims that Putin is doing this to strengthen his hand and root out those he sees as betrayers or weak, as happened in Turkey a few years back. I wouldn't be shocked.
  3. At this point I'm not sure viewers would be able to tell much difference. I do wonder just what this involves (like a certain writer whose name starts with D)
  4. This is a few years old but I watch it every once in a while due to just being fun.
  5. If you have Amazon Prime it's on Britbox. If not there are some episodes on Dailymotion.
  6. Hardy also seemed unhappy with the show.
  7. So glad I don't watch his shows, especially after reading some of the replies (that he overworks the crew, makes editors work 24/7, etc.). I know you don't become an auteur by being a sweetheart, but he's just a hack on top of being a poser and a punk.
  8. I do think most of her support within the show came from the other attempts at giving Sonny love interests flopping (Angel, before that, Hannah), or Guza just not wanting to actually write them as a real long-term pairing (Sonny/Alexis). Tamara Braun did win viewers over, but it didn't really matter, as the show was always going to put Sonny first (as shown with him being the sympathetic party after accidentally shooting her in the head while she was in labor). By the time Laura Wright came in, the canvas was thin enough to where they had to make Carly even more of a central figure. I would say Laura is also more naturally prone to sympathetic portrayals than someone like Sarah Brown, although she's still a somewhat cold actress, which suits Carly more than the writing itself does. Definitely. That's one of the reasons I'm surprised they even actually paired Spencer and Trina in the first place. As you said, I imagine Joss and Dex were, and are, the main goal.
  9. To me it has less impact because of them, but I don't blame the show for that. I do blame them for being so generic in recent years (somehow even a story about a 12 year old being pregnant has had almost zero impact) that I struggle to believe they will handle her return right.
  10. It's touching to see them trying to make the effort, as they certainly don't have to, and it is probably going on deaf ears (that pig Zaslav likely sees this as a sign he's doing the right thing). I feel like there's a sustained movement in this country now to wipe out anything remotely artistic or educational, in schools or on television or in films. It's really ramping up. We're just going to get more trash like those bigot Gaines or exploitive Honey Boo Boo trash.
  11. When I go on Twitter I see a lot of conversation about Trina, Portia, Jordan, Curtis, Taggert, Spencer - a sense of community and fun that you don't see for the soaps very often now (any conversation I see about DAYS is just people saying how much it sucks). I hope Frank and the rest see that and don't just assume viewers are watching for more of the not-so-greatest hits.
  12. The funny part is many of those births happened years before Ellen Wheeler took over the show. As for the finale, I mostly just enjoyed seeing Vanessa and Billy get married and Fletcher's and Nola's returns. The rest I file away as, "I don't care, but still better than ATWT, AMC or OLTL's final moments."
  13. Wish he hadn't taken the tweet down, but I guess he got some backlash, I have no idea. Murphy is scum, and his influence is clearly as toxic oncamera as it is off. Rarely have my instincts proven me so right (rarely they do at all...).
  14. Joe Morrissey is one of the most tarnished figures to hang on to what is a blue district. His Wiki reads like a 4 part Netflix series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Morrissey
  15. Sorry to hear this. My parents watched To the Manor Born several times over. Such a great cast, with Angela in a thankless role (long-suffering best friend) and shining anyway.
  16. I don't think Pat was ever that great as a host, to be honest, but I get what you mean. We don't even really have game show hosts now, just celebrities slumming.
  17. My parents have one of their books somewhere. I was sad to hear of her passing so young.
  18. That's great for Linda. Hopefully it will be a better showcase than that last Terminator film.
  19. I'm sorry but that just comes across as so crass to me to throw into a promo, especially at a time when many women live in states where their lives are more and more at risk during pregnancies.
