  1. I still think this PR relationship with Travis Kelce was a mistake for her in the long run, although at least she has stopped going to his games.
  2. That was so kind of you. I hope she got to see the letter. As almost all of Ellen Holly's time at OLTL is gone, if not for this place, I don't think I would have the fuller understanding or appreciation not just of what she represented, but of what she went through at the show, and the tones of the eras she was a part of. So I want to thank you, and so many others who are still here or are gone. I'm sorry Carla never had the resolution from the show that she or Ellen deserved, but I hope places like this will keep her memory alive forever.
  3. I do think inflation and gas prices are something that have become so overused by the media that we almost forget they do have an effect. The heavy astorturfing and trying to con young voters and left wing voters into not voting for Democrats because of Palestine (huge efforts in Michigan in particular to brainwash voters on this topic) also make me wary. Longtime GOP operatives are getting the red carpet from the press and from the "progressive" left as they go around Dearborn saying to never support Biden. I also don't really feel like Biden should run again. Unfortunately I also don't think there is anyone else (I think Gavin Newsom has a glass jaw and Kamala Harris would lose as so many have a deep, irrational hatred of her rooting in so many flavors of sexism and racism), so I'm just gearing up to expect the worst next year, as I always do. I've been proven wrong before, so hopefully I will be again.
  4. That's the problem for me. I don't need to hate Dean more. The show spent a year and a half with him as a serial rapist. The show has done almost nothing with Linda all year, then bring back her rapist to traumatize her even more for the sake of a "whodunit." It's the type of shock value writing and misogyny that makes the show so empty for me now.
  5. This led to one of my favorite scenes - where Rachel iced a weeping, ashamed Liz out of the family. This didn't last very long (I can't even remember how much resolution it had onscreen), but you could see, one last time, Harding Lemay's Rachel in full form.
  6. https://www.thedailybeast.com/house-speaker-mike-johnson-had-a-love-fest-with-a-far-right-zionist-group Mike Johnson's virulently anti-lgbt screed in a fundraising letter earlier today is another example of how much his longstanding loathing and activism against queer people is present and thriving, no matter how many Beltway reports tell us how "easygoing" he is.
  7. Yes. Attitudes is actually where I knew Linda from for quite a while - I watched a lot of the Lifetime lineup as a kid and didn't watch AW until its last few years on the air. I always remember her with Nancy Glass, or Dee Kelly, for some reason. I forgot to say Victoria Wyndham is also in this talking about obsessed fans - I think her interview was or is already up elsewhere on its own.
  8. I didn't realize Attitudes lasted this long or that Linda had a male co-host (per Wiki Linda left not too long after this due to disagreement with the changes in tone). @DaytimeFan @SFK @Vee There is a brief clip of Linda Blair on Joe Bob Briggs' show early in this.
  9. There were moments here and there, but I'm talking about what really set the cancellation in motion. And for me that was JFP. The show was extremely close to being taken off the air by 1995.
  10. The recipe for GL's cancellation had been written around 1993, and even that is generous. That GL stayed on as long as it did is astonishing. This is like blaming a paper cut for Rasputin's death.
  11. I think all of the P&G shows simultaneously lost their core yet maintained some of what was best about them to the end...although I do think that for all her many flaws, Wheeler brought back some of GL's best with decisions like having Vanessa as a recurring character after she was pretty much gone for good in the early '00s, minus a guest appearance. I think there were various points where GL bordered on completely barren, then would somewhat regroup. I'd say patches of 1994, and a lot of 2000-2001, and one of the main points of no return for me - Ben Reade's grotesque assassination. And going back to earlier years before I began watching, I'd also say a ton of 85-86 - honestly they were very lucky to still be on the air. Not even getting into Tom Pelphrey shouting all over my screen, which is the point where I stopped until I heard the show was likely to be canceled.
  12. Thanks. A nice read. My favorite part was the story about the actress who wanted to give an emotional speech and he said it wasn't the best time. I do think he had to stretch to come up with OTT stories for the last years. The electricity story was a brief fantasy gimmick for a comic tie-in, and the menopause/pregnancy was, sadly, old hat for soaps. I think GL dialed down the more ludicrous fantasy sequences after the time travel story (that doesn't mean the stories were good, of course).
  13. Jon Hensley likely announced around this time that he was leaving the show, which was probably a big factor.
  14. Thanks. Very moving interview. I'm glad she and the other 90210 cast are in a better place now. Here's an interview she did in 1999. It starts around an hour and 37 minutes in. Amusingly, the host mistakes Alyssa Milano for Tori Spelling.
  15. I wonder how much of that was her choice.
  16. Thanks. The portrait of Emma's Fallon is wilder than she was for most of her run. Joan probably wore it best, although I'll always have a soft spot for Pamela.
  17. The idea of Emma Samms being seen as "chubby" baffles me. I'd say these types of standards have changed for actresses today, but I'm not so sure.
  18. ‘Z’ author Vassilis Vassilikos dies | eKathimerini.com
  19. So many Republicans are (not to stereotype!) catty bitches, but they are so often hidden behind the closet door. George Santos is going to help keep that closet door locked shut for a long time to come, but at least this gave me a laugh.
  20. The Brookside thread is locked, so I'll have to break here that Dean Sullivan, who was electrifying as Jimmy Corkhill for many years, has passed away. Brookside icon Dean Sullivan dies aged 68 (digitalspy.com)
  21. Maybe something like The Aldens of Corinth, or Family on the Hill...or even just Corinth.
  22. So much of the support for Palestine on the left is performative and ill-informed. I have a lot of respect for Susan Sarandon as an actress, but she is the queen of performative activism, and she reminded me of that again when she retweeted Jackson Hinkle, a grifter, transphobe, homophobe, who just goes on about Palestine because he can spew bile about Jews (I recently saw a video of him ranting about how all Nazis were [transphobic slur] and [homophobic slur]). These are the same types of stunt queens who picketed Rosalynn Carter's funeral in spite of Jimmy Carter being one of the few high-profile proponents of the two-state solution for many years (they claimed it was a Biden protest). The same types of clout-chasers who spend more time screaming at people on Twitter not to watch SNL (as they made a joke about not wanting to be associated with Hamas) rather than doing anything to help anyone in Gaza. Similar to how much they poisoned the well on issues like police reform, I am never sure how many are real and how many are well-paid ops from Russia and Republicans.
  23. I think Kathryn Hays mentioned getting negative fan mail for the storyline. I can't remember if she said it was more of a negative response than she got to when she was meant to be bad and going after Bob.
  24. The current show is heartless - a shell. Stories like the one with Linda forced to lie that she wasn't raped (encouraged by her failed drag queen mother) are why I barely bother. The only way to be able to get through most of the last decade is to put a mental barrier between 1985 and the mid or late '00s and everything since. For me that would probably be the repulsive Archie storyline. That is the point, yes. I've seen people go on about how "realistic" her actions are and how no one should complain because it's good drama, but it's not. Phil already has a child with Denise that he never sees or mentions. This is the end result of so-called "legacy children" who are supposed to be important because of their last name.
