  1. I don't think Martin has any set personality. For long periods of time, he was some kind of quasi-comic relief, with a Foghorn Leghorn accent that the show had him take classes to magically get rid of.
  2. Thanks again @dc11786 always enjoy these. You are right about the mixed messages in the show's tales about abortion and adoption. I suppose that is inevitable as there was likely always a push over just how much of the fundamentalist Christian content they were going to center. A shame they never quite seem to know what to do with Russ.
  3. If you ever want to see that material, there are a few episodes/clips here:
  4. Thank you to @jam6242 for pointing this out in another thread. It's a new web soap starring Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, Susan Sullivan, and, for non-DS but soap involvement, Granville Van Dusen. There are about six episodes up.
  5. Another case of a soap not even being listed in an actor's credits. I didn't realize Jefferson was on the show such a short time. Didn't they have some kind of backstory when Kelsey and briefly Tara were around that he was gay, or people thinking he might have a history with Michael Delaney? I may just be mixing that up with story ideas... From the little I've seen of Mary Lynn Blanks here or on ATWT, I am not sure her father was wrong. In regard to AMC she seemed very miscast, like if someone had hired a Three's Company actress. Reminds me of how boards or especially soap Twitter can be now, but now you have so many added agendas and toxicity.

  7. Thanks @Maxim . I love all those clips (my only complaint is that while I know it happens plenty in real life, I'm never a big fan of the dramatic scene of the child coming into scream for her parents to stop). The Dorian and Clint scene was especially wonderful. I loved when he asked what she was doing at the Banner and she matter-of-factly says, "Spying!" I'm not sure if they gave a reason in the story for Dorian to lash out at Viki again (beyond her being upset over Sloan wanting Viki, not her), but I prefer them not trying to throw in too much justification beyond Dorian just disliking her. @janea4old Thanks for the Bo and Nora clip. I always enjoyed their banter - RSW and HSB were among the best at it, like a '30s comedy couple.
  8. It annoys me less if there's some interesting story purpose but there rarely is. I know there were delays with the Cody and Mac story due to JJY's health but we barely even see them together. And if the purpose was for the con story with Scott, that also had little impact and needed Serena.
  9. Thank you. I've heard about that film for years but haven't seen it. I did hear about her facing the same issues on OLTL, sadly.
  10. Something Alan-Michael clearly took after with Marina, although that was even worse... I guess this is the end result of just writing for your increasingly small pool of new viewers. Thanks for the extra details about the wedding.
  11. Oh I never watched her Locher Room. No wonder they replaced her so quickly afterward. They should have just killed Morgan off instead of recasting, as Vigard WAS the character, although Jennifer Cooke improved once Marland left. I tend to prefer weddings with no drama as I think soaps have gone too far in the other direction (although now some have gone back to more low-key weddings). You've probably already seen this but there's a brief clip of Mike and Hope during her wedding. I see there's also a clip of Peggy and Roger marrying. If that episode still survives I wish we could see it (although maybe it was from Zaslow's own collection, as the late '70s material on the Roger VHS tape was).
  12. Thanks for the extra information. It shows how valuable even a single episode can be in filling in gaps. I'm glad all your hard work helps put together what we know.
  13. I saw a promo for Kate & Allie when Bob proposed to Allie and I was reminded this was the season where the show (and most other shows) wrapped up earlier due to the writers' strike. That type of choice with marrying off a character often seems like a last gasp. Do you think K&A would have ended that season if not for the strike or was it already meant to get one more season? Which shows do you think were helped the most and hurt the most by the strike?
  14. I didn't even realize he's not a citizen and yet keeps doing this. I checked and the last article I saw is from July and suggests the suits are ongoing.
  15. The original pilot for Pam Long's show Second Noah, which barely lasted into a second season (looking at Wiki Disney may have wanted it dead, although I can't see it lasting anyway).
  16. I agree that a romance shouldn't be a priority for Carly, but I have no idea what they should do with Carly...I know this has been talked over to death but there just is so little left for her with her children, or rivals (Carly can't even have a proper rival as she is on her own mountain). If a strong love interest could change that I'd say they should try but there aren't any good romances on the show.
  17. Thanks @Jdee43 ! I'd seen those up but hadn't gotten to Mary's yet.
  18. Thanks. A shame about her last run, although that seemed like a mess even just reading about it, and I guess Frank doesn't forget.
  19. To be fair, it's still not as bad to me as that Genie Francis joins Y&R promo. What confuses me is where Tamara and Roger previously worked together. Was it on GH? I was not watching the show for her stint. She'd be better in the role of Carly today than she was at the time as she has more of a weathered (in a good way) look that I think fits Carly more than the aggressive PTA parent look. I tend to agree. As soon as I hear the name I think of Lauren Bacall, and nothing on Y&R for a long time now compares to Lauren Bacall.
  20. Carole pretty much confirms the leaks for the finale. Sorry, wrong link, although the above is a nice interview too. https://cultbox.co.uk/general/carole-ann-ford-describes-unused-doctor-who-finale-scene
  21. Thanks again for your recaps @alwaysAMC . So are you enjoying the clone story more or less now that the two Revas are together? I'd forgotten about the painting of Brandon. I wonder if they used an image of one of the actors to play Brandon or if they just threw anything on the wall. Once again, we see the ignorance of history on GL by this point - reintroducing Brandon's legacy when Alexandra and Amanda had both been written out. I remember enjoying the bond between Selena and Abby, and Selena's presence on the canvas. I'd forgotten Abby stayed to help catch a crooked guard. On some soaps she would have likely been stabbed to death for "irony." By this point Hart truly is just a meat puppet. You could have just put a cutout in his scenes, and no difference would be made. I guess you are now pas the point of the hilarious scene of Hart and Rob grappling on the bed (I think Rob may have been shirtless). The Carl hallucination/tea party scenes are what I remember most from that story. I thought they were effective.
  22. Thanks again @Maxim I do enjoy the faceoffs between Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser, but this very icy take with Elaine Princi, with dialogue that is not as surface level as she had when involved with Viki before Gottlieb's arrival, is enthralling to watch. I love the way Dorian says she would be upset if a moral person was calling her names, but not Viki. The scene with Clint is just as good, and once again, that music is perfection. Never overbearing, always enhancing.
  23. I think Kevin Dobson had a lot of fire mixed with warmth early on, even if I was never very attracted to him (by the late '80s I think most of that is long gone). I don't actually remember ever finding any of the men on the show to be extremely attractive, but James Houghton and especially Doug Sheehan were classically beautiful to me. I think John Pleshette may have been the most charismatic man on the show, even if no one should have ever gone near Richard. I think Eric was the heart of Karen's family. He was the ideal combination of Karen and Sid - their earnestness and their integrity above all else. Once he's gone, they're never really the same for me.
  24. Thanks @Paul Raven Thorson isn't even listed in IMDB but then they get so much wrong (if this is January 29th there are a number of actors listed who aren't in the episode). I can see Thorson more in the part than Thorn as Thorn seems a little more comedic, but then I have barely seen him so who am I to say.
  25. @Paul Raven @slick jones @FrenchFan @VelekaCarruthers @vetsoapfan @jam6242 @Khan @NothinButAttitude @soapfan770 @Soaplovers @dc11786 @All My Shadows @Tisy-Lish @Vee @Franko @Joseph @Reverend Ruthledge @Researching... @te. @chrisml @beebs @Mona Kane Croft I wasn't sure we'd get another but the channel that has posted several old Love of Life classics shared one more glimpse in 1953! We are building up a number of 1953 episodes - three from January alone. I've read of Ellie and Alex and seen photos, but this is the first time I've seen so much of them. Interesting how the material with Ellie and Vanessa about Alex is serious and then the confrontation with Ellie and Alex feels so lighthearted in comparison. Maybe the actors made it that way to contrast him manhandling her. I don't know a ton about the tone of their relationship or history (isn't Vanessa trying to get money for Ellie in a later 1953 episode) I like the contrast between Vanessa being bemused and wanting to distance herself from all the Alex and Ellie drama, then being thrown into the usual very heavy drama with sister Meg at the end. Only four characters and 15 minutes yet it draws me in more than many large cast hour long soaps of recent decades.
