  1. Melania is trying to create Pretty Woman, but no hat will make her husband Richard Gere. He isn't even Richard Dreyfuss. It's also a reminder of how much Trumpworld is still stuck in the '80s - sadly, all the world parts.
  2. They think they will be getting big ratings and big money for their books and speaking tours. Good luck with that.
  3. I thought she was OK on Soap, although she is mainly just there to watch Billy Crystal act like a 90 year old man.
  4. That was Emily's only purpose in Quartermaine scenes in Amber's last 3-4 years. She hated everyone but Jason.
  5. Amber is a better actress than Natalia, but I think she is so established as Emily and Ghost Emily - but I also think there's a way of having Amber return if willing so we could get some of the flashbacks of Emily with Monica from early in her run, before she spent all her time hurling abuse.
  6. This promo interests me because they mention GL, Y&R, and ATWT, but not Capitol, and not B&B. I wonder if the Fresno CBS station wasn't sure they'd be carrying B&B...or maybe there wasn't a logo yet? Not sure of the exact airdate for this. Was B&B announced right when Capitol was canceled or was there a delay?
  7. I keep forgetting about Denise - I would love to see her again or even just hear her. I agree I don't have a big need for Rick.
  8. I will say that if Sean Kanan can't return I wouldn't be averse to asking Billy Warlock back. So many of those close to Monica are played by actors no longer with us.
  9. I tend to say the last decade of SPW wasn't even useful as toilet paper. At least they did a tribute to GL, which almost no one else did.
  10. Jennifer is a nice idea. I think Natalia Livingston returning as ghost Emily is probably a good idea just because she did have a rapport with Leslie and with Steve Burton and she has returned before. I'm not sure I need the ghost Quartermaine body doubles this time, unless Sean Kanan can return. Otherwise I might just have Emily talking to the camera and maybe showing us a replica of the old Q dinner table and she'd talk about what Edward, Lila, Alan, Justus, Gail, Bobbie, etc. are doing in anticipation for Monica's arrival. Amber would be a nice idea too, in some capacity. If Shelley Taylor Morgan is still able to perform, I might have a brief visit from Lorena, as it might provide a bit of comedy and a distraction and a way for the remaining Qs to unite against an outsider. Introducing a one- or two-day character who grew up in foster care and whose education, all the way up to medical school, was paid for by Monica - I would like that.
  11. @dc11786 Thanks for telling me about the Monica and Tracy scene. I will have to try to find it. I missed that level of nuance in later writing. They overplayed the Quartermaines as having only one personality trait each and relying on one-liners. At least they did have a few good moments together, like when Edward was dying. @BetterForgotten You're so right about the British soap exits (something they don't even do anymore, sadly). @Vee That is a good point about Tracy reaching a new audience. Similar to how the Luke pairing, which I disliked, did help stabilize her on the show through a number of years where she could have been killed off.
  12. I love SCTV but hadn't seen this before. It's a cute, very short Y&R parody. (I'm guessing they didn't know anything about the actual relationship between Snapper and Jill)
  13. @Dion Thanks for the extra details. I'm not sure why I tried to watch some of that week and not others at the time. Maybe I just wanted to see Robin Mattson again. @Khan That's how I'd describe Guza's second run as well. Emily is one of those characters who offered little to nothing of value herself but did serve as a positive presence for the Quartermaines, or could have anyway. That is the aspect which made her death hard to take after all their other losses. I never really bought her relationship with Nikolas - or any Nikolas relationship, to be honest. Georgie's murder will always be the most senseless and seemed based more on the actress not being the right "type" for the people at GH/ABC.
  14. @janea4old Thanks. I got them mixed up. Appreciate the correction.
  15. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/01/19/lady-mcbiden-alexandra-pelosi-first-lady-00199164 I'd say we shouldn't go along with media games and distractions, but Pelosi's daughter chose to say this on the record. I'd only ever heard of Alexandra Pelosi for making TV documentaries, and more recently, due to rumors that Nancy is trying to make sure Alexandra gets her seat in Congress. I can understand that she is deeply distressed right now, seeing her mother breaking a hip after her father was nearly beaten to death, but there was no need for her to be so crass, or to even say anything at all. The Bidens didn't do anything to her mother.
  16. One of the problems now is many voters don't want solutions. They want suffering. They want other people to hurt and to die, and they think they won't be affected. If they are affected, then they will just blame immigrants, or black people, or trans people, or women - take your pick. That's why Trump is so effective. He spreads chaos and fear. So does the media ecosystem around him. If we have fair elections in 2026, there's a chance Democrats can regain some ground, and maybe win the White House in 2028 as the pattern tends to be Republicans burn everything and Democrats put it back together, but it's going to take a miraculous and visionary candidate to truly make change. And one who cares much less about norms or false assurances of how the public will see sense and believe in goodness, the downfall of Biden and most establishment Democrats. They are, yes. And sadly, many of them prefer Trump to Democrats because of these identity politic grievances.
  17. Not liberals. Dead end leftists and more radical types. Many believe almost all gay men, especially white gay men, are rich, conservative, and bigoted. They will tell you that the only good gay men died of AIDS 40 years ago.
  18. Thanks @Vee . SNL had a little card for David Lynch last night, which says more about Lorne wanting to be part of the zeitgeist than their views on the man (Lynch was never on SNL, but Bob Uecker, who hosted in season 10, was ignored). Still, SNL and Twin Peaks do have a lot of ties - from about 1990-2001 they had a near-constant connection due to hosts, musical guests and cast members.
  19. The Village People don't even have a connection to gay culture or life in recent years so the attention on them feels like another smokescreen to me. I imagine those on the left who believe that all gay men are Republicans and are eagerly waiting for them to lose their rights will be enjoying all this.
  20. I think Louise's character faked an injury to sue the hospital, or something. Courtney worked for her.
  21. Great find @janea4old I wonder if Kyle ever talks about Santa Barbara or if Reed mentions the pilot in the primetime soap thread.
  22. @Franko Wow. I love that. Never seen it. Tony thotting out.
