  1. Jacquie and Grant look like vampires.
  2. That's great. Good quality too. I've never seen this before. One article from 1976 mentioned how Armand was going to become the show's new leading man since Gerald Gordon was leaving. Yet even in the article it says Armand doesn't want to stay forever (and he was gone by the end of the year, I think). The show really seemed to have a problem with men in that age range.
  3. They do. That's such an odd hairdo for Mary Stuart - it looks more like the ones I've seen Melba Rae wearing. Who is the man beside Larry Haines? I'd like to see Robert Mandan in this role. I just can't see him as anything but Chester Tate.
  4. Cuts her wrists? Wow. That seems very stark (no pun intended) for daytime. I wonder how this was done onscreen.
  5. I don't even know where these liberals in the media are at this point.
  6. New Maxie. She seems fine, but my disgust at "Spixie" knows no recast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqW8rsDSsjc
  7. I may have seen some of the 30th. I can't remember. I always have a soft spot for Moltke as Victoria - in a lot of ways she was the show for me. I wish she had a cameo in the new movie.
  8. Tina actually looks like Mary in that photo. I wish we knew what plans they even had for Patti, aside from what's mentioned in synopses. I don't know if this was a time of transition for Search but to just drop Patti after years of being a main character seems a little odd. I remember Tina suggesting Patti might become more of a schemer, but I don't know if that was actually something in the script or not.
  9. The odd thing with Don is Martin West, who played Don before Fowkes, had played the good/bad Phil Brewer on GH, and seemed fairly popular in the role. I wonder why he left ATWT after a year or two and if they considered ever asking him back. I agree that having Don be too much like Bob may not have been the best idea. I'd love to see the James stuff and what changed, if they just thought Herrera was too deliciously wicked to be good. Was it the Dobsons who did the Barbara past life dreams that Jacqueline Schultz disliked or was this after the Dobsons? It seems like the Dobsons were trying to initially somewhat use ATWT's structure but by some point in late 1980 or early 1981 it began going haywire.
  10. I was interested in the part about Chris yelling at Lisa. It's so tough for me to picture Chris yelling at anyone. It's also interesting to see how quickly they started to try to reposition Ellen's role, slowly at first. I wish someone had asked them about why they were willing to put her in a larger role when so many writers didn't make the effort. Probably the parts that catch my eye most are with Joyce and then with James. I wonder if these stories were most popular with viewers at the time. A lot of the people leaving in these synopses came and went so fast, but based on paper I can't say Doug, Marcia, Dana, etc. were very interesting. Do you remember them? Sorry for them being out of order. I have a few others somewhere and will try to find later.
  11. This is from a 4/77 Daytime TV Stars article on Mary Stuart. It's the only photo I can remember of Tina Sloan as Patti.
  12. That was the episode where Erica was furious because Cheryl beat her out for model of the year, right? Whatever happened to the disco?
  13. August 5, 1980 recap.
  14. Well they did release "He Hit Me And It Felt Like a Kiss" around the '50s.
  15. Brendan's cross necklace.
  16. At least he hasn't raped anyone out of love yet, so that's something. I saw a comment saying that Ste is wearing some cross or there's a cross background in his opening credits shot. I guess that's to remind viewers - if it wasn't already 99.9999% obvious - that Ste exists solely as Brendan's property.
  17. I've heard people say that Irna had nothing to do with Robin's death. But then I also thought for a long time that Irna did kill Robin. I'm not sure. I think Gillian Spencer was the last Robin, and she left in 1966 or 1967, not 1969.
  18. March 11, 1980. Sorry, the first two pages of this are missing.
  19. Feb 19 1980 Digest recap.
  20. This is from the Sept 2 1980 Digest. This is the recap right before Paul Raven's.
  21. Thanks. I get what they're saying, from a writing point of view, but from a viewer's point of view, I would think having some scenes where Rachel and Mitch don't interact would be a good thing. Those characters, especially Rachel, seemed to become very isolated around these years.
  22. I wish that story was available. Was this still Bill Bell outlines, or was this Ann Marcus?
  23. The summer 1966 episodes available are Nixon aren't they? I guess you could say that GL had no real core identity outside of the Bauers, and they'd run through a lot of story. Mike wasn't even around. One thing which I think was a mistake was the decision to write out a lot of good characters - I think George and Jane (who seemed to have strong ties to every character on the canvas and were perfect supporting characters) were out not long after Nixon left, and then Maggie and Ben Scott, which was such a waste, especially of Maggie.
