  1. I never knew about the perfume story. That's fascinating. Can you imagine if Dee and Lily swapped stories - last week I was just watching, and cringing slightly, at the scenes where Lily was trying to pose as a drug dealer and family black sheep in order to get through Montega. I agree that Colin seems harsh in the role. She was more balanced on Edge of Night so I guess it was an acting choice. Lisa Denton replaced Suzanne Davidson. Meg Ryan once said that it took her a while to get fans to support her, because most of them missed Davidson. She said that Frank Runyeon was at a fan event with her and said, "Isn't this the best Betsy ever?" and no one applauded.
  2. If Talking Points Memo (an Internet outlet which has little influence beyond the liberal community) and MSNBC (which fired Olbermann for being too liberal) are what we have then it's worse than I thought.
  3. I think this was the tail end of Suzanne Davidson.
  4. Hypocrisy in action. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/09/cantor-presses-fema-on-status-of-disaster-aid-for-his-district.php
  5. In fall 1996 there were rumors in the soap press that KKL wanted out. This faded away but I guess backstage it was still going on.
  6. I don't have an exact date on this one but it's another from 1980.
  7. I'm sorry about a recap mixup - one I labeled March 11 was actually from early May. This is the March 11 1980 recap.
  8. This is pre-Dobsons, but I thought someone might be interested. It's from the 11/27/1979 Digest. Sorry if it's already been posted.
  9. I'm not too crazy about Garofalo, although I give her and a few others like Mike Farrell some credit for speaking out against the Iraq war at a time when doing so meant a lot of ugly backlash. This is interesting timing, as Cain just said any black person who votes for a Democrat is brainwashed. The media seems more focused on how Obama was rude to black Democrats in a speech and this means they may not vote for him. According to the media, black, Hispanic, and Jewish voters are all just waiting for the Republican to arrive.
  10. And a good way to hypnotize the household help into sneaking out to the local liquor store without telling Charles.
  11. I wonder why they brought Kathy back with Nicolette Goulet.
  12. For me the show wasn't the same after Gavin Blyth took over, but I did like the story with the Wylde family and Mark's murder. If you are interested in any of the past, the first 10-15 episodes are on Youtube and then some scattered episodes and clips of later years. I think you really should watch the plane crash episodes if you have a chance. They were superbly done. That changed Emmerdale, and British soaps, forever. (ignore the ass in purple Spandex) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00I5PQg9FLo
  13. I didn't know Phoebe wore mood rings.
  14. I'm surprised they didn't keep the character around since they did need younger leading men. They could have just aged him. I wonder why they bothered to recast after Peter Simon left if they gave up so quickly. I wish I could see Peter Ratray on Bright Promise because the only time I've seen him was in a Ryan's Hope story I despised. Here's when Chris Lowe came back briefly in August-September 1979. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6xnPE8Kp-U
  15. Well that was clearly supposed to lead to more story. Too bad it didn't work out.
  16. Mary Lynn was probably too young to be Tara.
  17. Judith looks like Carolyn Jones there.
  18. It looks like they're singing a duet. I can't remember how long she was on. A year? I was surprised at how long Ted Danson and Jobeth Williams were on (about two years).
  19. I think that was a waste. Even now I'd like to see PP consider asking Rosemary Prinz back - Amy could have a secret that would unlock the next chapter of the Martins. (I know she's not actually a Martin, but still)
  20. If it was then it hasn't been in a while. I can't see her as Gwyn - she's sort of lacking in any charisma as an actress.
  21. Yeah it's still a pretty ugly way to go. I can only imagine what the initial story plans were for this. Certainly they weren't going to have Julie involved with the woman. I can see where they may have planned a long story where she got therapy for her problems and maybe her husband cheated on her.
  22. She didn't die. She and her husband quickly left town and she left a letter behind for Julie.
  23. It's tough to imagine him as Larry. Both Storm brothers have such a presence and build.
