I also noticed there was much less McCleary. I wonder if they plugged them into the later titles because of actors leaving. Seeing so much of Jo and Stu was great. This was when they were hinting at a story about Jo being romantically jealous of Stu and his new woman, but Mary Stuart didn't want to play it that way. Who was playing Evie's mother? Anita Gillette? I enjoyed the comedy with Cagney, even if this Suzie is a drag.

Leslie Jordan (of Will & Grace and many other shows) was recently interviewed in the UK and was asked to name the most difficult person he ever worked with. He said Mary Frann. That doesn't involve DAYS, just putting it here as she was on the show and I didn't know where else to put it.

Well said. The relationship between Richard and Karen always interested me too. I thought it was very believable and a good example of Karen's double standards, as she was furious when Laura had a business relationship with Gary and Abby a few years later. If I remember correctly, Laura threw that double standard right in her smug face.

I always had a soft spot for Richard, even though he was a weak, pathetic man. Even he realized it at the end. I think he had the most moving, understated exit of any character on KL. KL was not a "realistic" show, per se, but the decision to allow Richard to return after Laura's death and show us that he had a happy, content life, while "good" and "nice" characters like Sid or Laura never had that chance, made the show true to life in a way most primetime soaps never were or are.

Thank you. I enjoyed the gothic sequences with Adam and Erica, which genuinely made me afraid for Erica. And I love seeing Brooke's complex relationships with the men in her life - husband Tom, ex and current friend Mark, and then her early relationship with Adam. That she was so focused on personal life and career while heavily pregnant shows a balance current soaps don't understand. I had forgotten Hillary was on the show this early. Did she and Jenny ever interact? The writing that lulls viewers into a false sense of security for Greg and Jenny (talking about possibly having babies) must have crushed fans even more at the time.

BMH had Joey's heart, which was vital to Joey and which JFP, Ron, and other hacks never understood. Worst Kevin: Tim Gibbs, by far Worst Joey: Don Jeffcoat, who was just sort of there and constantly undermined by degrading writing Cassie... I haven't seen much of Haddad or Cram but I assume they were better than what was to come. Sometimes Laura Koffman really impressed me, but her Cassie often had writing that made her passive, made her a victim, or made her a plot device. She was also so self-righteous. Holly Gagnier was vapid and dumb.

The little i've seen of Forsythe I liked, especially her voice.

I think JLB did a good job as Laura, especially considering her material was so histrionic - she was hilarious and ridiculous but I think when she had quieter moments she sold them. I also loved her feud with Kate. I would imagine Flannery was the most popular, given that she was one of the show's main leading ladies during its peak years.

That was posted a few months ago - the character is Joel Stratton's brother. He married Diana, or was going to marry her, as he was dying. Joel was involved with Lesley. One of the reasons he eventually left town rather than try a relationship with her is because he learned he had the same disease that had killed his brother.

I swear the clothes on the young women are much louder than the clothes the girls wore on ATWT at this time. Maybe AW was trying to be more "edgy"? I have to say that considering this was right before yet another big transition period (many of the people in these clips would be fired or phased out, or the actors quit), it's not that bad. I hated Michael but I don't even mind him here. The only story that seems flat is the Brittany/Peter/Catlin saga (I had no idea Brittany and Peter were every happy - she was acting so weird in the scene with Chris and Peter). Her makeup is also a mess. I've always thought Ellen Wheeler was best suited to Marley, but I enjoyed her Vicky here too. She's not as fleshed out as Anne's Vicky, but there's a lot going on under the surface. And she looked great with her hair slicked back and wearing the leather-skin type jacket. I also enjoy Nancy and Dee as her rivals, with Vicky manipulating them. Dee's such a quirky, fun character. I like seeing Smiley's too. It reminds me of the Cooper's diner on GL. I love everything with Cass and Kathleen. For all the talk of Cass "growing up" because of Frankie, I much prefer this Cass - still a bad boy, but with a big, easily broken heart, and a big mouth. I'm so glad to see Sally Spencer's MJ when she had a fun personality and wasn't going around saying I WAS A WHORE! Who was running the show at this point?

Lisa owned the Yacht Club for years. Then I think Damian and Lily bought it. Then Kirk, I think. Last time I remember it being a part of the show was around 1999 or 2000. I think Georgia worked there.

Nice to see that closure with Kirkland and Paulina. I'd forgotten some of that. Great material for the Burrells. I love the "When did Etta Mae start working for the BCPD" line. And Iris' "pigs wallow in mud" line. Classic Iris.
