  1. Now that I'm watching a little more I tried to read the DS Emmerdale posts and I had to stop after about five minutes. I'd forgotten all those [!@#$%^&*] nicknames for everything and all the winking and smirking. Ugh.
  2. I'm surprised they don't try Vanessa/Deniz again.
  3. That's awful. Cool story to tell though.
  4. Thanks. Do you know if she was in anything else? I can't find an IMDB page for her.
  5. True. Now they'd just have her say, "I can't get a signal!" I do kind of wish they'd had her with one of those huge-ass car phones.
  6. I actually liked the idea of Val teaching the waitress to read in season 13. I know it wasn't high drama, but most of her stories had been absolute horse [!@#$%^&*] for 4 straight seasons and I appreciated the change. I thought this was more true to Valene than yet another saga of a middle-aged woman being victimized.
  7. I really enjoyed that third episode. Not a bad scene to be found. I wonder who wrote it. The Justine/Cagney scenes (very mature and poignant) and the Kentucky/Liza scenes (lots of juicy innuendo and hints of genuine chemistry) stood out, but everything was good. I even cared about the Kendalls, with all the talk of the grieving for TR because Lloyd insisted she had to be dead, and now he was doing the same with Chase.
  8. I'm sorry about that. It was a montage - I remember you saying you enjoyed those in this era of the show.
  9. I didn't think the McClearys had that much in common with the Ryans, but after seeing that bar I think NBA has a point. That place looks so much like the Ryan bar, it's uncanny. How long had that Cord been on the show? He seems like an overnight psycho. Who is playing his sister Victoria? Nice location work. I had to laugh at how quickly they were getting over Alec and accepting his death. Oh, we found a bloody shirt. I guess the cynical soap fan in me doesn't buy that line. The photo of Alec and Kevin Conroy looked like a couple, not brothers.
  10. Elisabeth Sladen in the shampoo ad here (at about 2:20 or so).
  11. GoT won a TV Choice Award, accepted by Maisie. https://twitter.com/TVChoice/status/509085882876715008/photo/1
  12. Another installment of Maisie Williams and other teenagers make me feel very, very old.

  14. I have those 1979 clips on a disc somewhere but even if I find them I don't know how to upload...
  15. Most of it's gone - someone did reupload a scene with Sherry in a fur coat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkL6o4SdFq4
  16. I don't know who was directing Search at this point but the overacting in those Liza scenes was so glaring...I guess they were playing up Liza as some type of diva because she was insecure without Travis and Kentucky Bluebird (wasn't that a Dionne Warwick song??) was supposed to help bring her back, but it just seems like too much. As is his fake accent (I guess by this time John Aniston had managed to contain his bad fake accent a little better). They even had their own twangy music cue for him. I'm surprised he didn't last. They recast Lloyd Kendall so many times so quickly I wonder if viewers even invested. I wonder how long his children lasted. For me the best part was the stuff with Wendy and Justine and that flaming photographer (who was that)? The only stuff that had a fun vibe.
  17. I've learned so much from this place. I'm not sure where I'd go to talk about classic soaps. It's just us now really.
  18. And Kevin was the first Jerry Grove on AW (he did a very good job...quite a hot, hot man too at that point). I like the little I've seen of Julie on Search. Who was she on Y&R? Frenchfan has some summaries of soaps around this time period. http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/29285-look-into-the-past-january-1984/ http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/35052-look-into-the-past/
  19. I think he fell for Leslie when he had to marry Leslie to give Brooks a father. These clips make me wonder what might have happened if fans hadn't accepted the shift from Brad to the Prentiss brothers. These four helped carry Y&R through the late 70s. Even my father remembers the 4 Ls from their heyday. I'm so glad I'm getting to see this material, because I always enjoyed the glimpses of Lorie available over the years (minus the 2003 return), so these clips just confirm that view. This whole scene is set up perfectly. When Lorie is dancing with the other guy, he's a much better dancer than Lucas, but he's also treating her as decoration. When Lucas is dancing with her, it doesn't matter if he's awkward - they're actually dancing, and she comes alive. I can't help comparing Lorie, who must have been in her mid-20s or late 20s at this time, to characters on the show now like Abby or Summer or Lily, who seem so much older (mentally or emotionally if not physically) and so much more worn out. It's interesting to see the shift from the downtrodden style of the early years (with even Katherine and Philip, rich as they were, seeming relatively distant from flashiness or excess) to something like this. I guess characters like Lorie, and Leslie (with Victoria Mallory looking so much like those Eurodisco stars of this era) helped ease the transition. I must say that disco suited this show more than ATWT, where the only character I could see fitting in to that type of setting would be Kim. I concur that I would have loved seeing Paul and Nikki in a disco.
  20. I liked Jackson too. Not with Aaron, but as his own character. I think the paralysis story was a terrible mistake.
  21. I think we're subscribed to a lot of the same channels...
  22. Thanks for finding these things. Great job.
  23. Thank you. Wow. I was so worried.
