  1. I bought one that I can't use at the moment as I'm changing computers, but free ones - have you tried Download Helper? The only thing is there's a large watermark they include if you don't pay for the software.
  2. Thanks for the video. The rumors I saw about her firing were that she was somewhat difficult to deal with or had trouble with her lines.
  3. I don't think I can stomach Whoopi Goldberg's latest rape apologia.
  4. I kept hoping they'd actually be in the same scene, but I wonder if they were filmed on the same continent... Anyway, I keep hearing people rave about his work on AoS. I have no interest in watching that, but that's nice for him.
  5. What do you think of the recast Martin so far? I've only seen a bit. He's a little husky, but he does sound like James Alexandrou. I guess at least DTC didn't go for more generic hunkiness, but I wonder if that's because we're supposed to hate him and root for Sonia/Tina. (Tina needs a pacifier, not a girlfriend) It did make me smile that DTC went back to the "I want a motorbike" well to help convince Johnny to leave the show. That's the story Mark Fowler was supposed to get until the actor had to leave for personal reasons. They instead gave the story to Michelle. (I will always miss Michelle but I hope the show never brings her back) Linda/Mick continue to be misery pits, with Mick essentially being a Depressed Elmer Fudd with sad panda faces. I really think Mick needs to die. He isn't much beyond a more fuckable Kevin Wicks. Nancy is a bore, but she's passable. Kill Mick off, have Babe leave town in disgrace, cut Shirley's ties with the family and have DTC put her somewhere else (maybe she can hook up with Max and try to help poor pathetic Abi) and push Nancy, Lee, and Linda (and if they last, a recast Johnny) in a new direction.
  6. Go Liz go! http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/12/12/enough-is-enough-elizabeth-warrens-fiery-attack-comes-after-congress-weakens-wall-street-regulations/ http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/elizabeth-warren-lindsey-graham-citigroup-funding-bill
  7. It was a very different type of character. The stuff where she lied about being raped and was trying to make Natalie paranoid about being raped again was chilling to watch, although it really was too heavy for the overall tone of AMC, even if that was ultimately a very heavy year for AMC, period.
  8. I wonder if these episodes were taped before the wedding.
  9. The September 3 episode had Carrie scenes that were already uploaded in another form (under the ClassicGL gifset Machinations - it's somewhere in the mid-teens of that gifset), but this episode has some new material (for me anyway). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-kH3w9rdb8&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A&index=2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxDKYGGdR-w&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A
  10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRwnuvdkoLE So the Kristen Vigard Farewell Tour continues... Tony sure spends a lot of time telling women how they're supposed to feel and what they're supposed to do. I did like the scene where he and Katie remarked on all the rich and famous people wandering around the hospital. Nice meta moment on the absurdity of so many tycoons on a soap. I wonder if this was the last period of time time Philip even saw Jackie alive. If so how sad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-kH3w9rdb8 I guess with Kelly clothed, Mike had to lead up the beefcake brigade. They barely show Vanessa, but what they do show suggests a Star Wars robe. I think Trish is wearing Rita's old coverup...I wonder if that weirded Ed out. I remember reading that Doug Marland wanted to write typical young married couple problems for Scotty and Laura on GH, which he didn't really get to do for long. I guess he transferred some of that to Kelly and Morgan. I guess this is also keeping up the Mart Hulswit Farewell Tour. Stir that pot, Nola. I enjoy this. The goofier side of Nola was sometimes a little much for me. I kind of enjoy the trashier side of Gracie too. Seeing Vanessa, or Vanessa's head and shoulders, in the midst of Bauer Power continues to be surreal. I really liked Derek. Nice to see all this Carrie/Ross material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxDKYGGdR-w&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A
  11. Looks like Mart wasn't gone quite yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-VL1KIKwZc I never knew Kelly's father was on this show. Keith Charles played one of Hope's college professors about 5 years before this, and I think he went on to play a younger Brandon Spaulding a few years after this. He was also on ATWT in several periods. I guess someone at P&G was a fan. So Ed and Vanessa got back together that fast? He really could be a pushover at times. Looks like she's got the eye for skeevy Tony though. I laughed when Maeve was awkwardly holding her huge hat in front of her belly. Kristen was still playing Morgan at this time, apparently. When will Jennifer appear? Any minute, any day! Fun to wait and see, I guess. I'm glad to get to see more of Kristen's work. I love Bert's sour, sour face when Ed mentions Vanessa. I really did not like Tony at this point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6HBfAbKfBs&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlQotjz5z64&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A Mike is so awkward around Trish. It's sweet. And Vanessa is shameless, rifling through Mike's things when he's in the room. And this would also be a nice final scene for Kristen, if it's her last.
  12. Such a packed episode, with such undercurrents of sadness, like most of this year of the show. Even the comic relief (Kirk and Ellie) were somewhat somber by this point. My favorite scenes in this were with Connor, from her confrontation with Evan (where both are right and wrong) to her poignant parting with Scott, which made me more emotional than I'd expected. Connor was, by soap standards, such a realistic character, who always seemed a little worn down by life, but kept on fighting. She also felt less like a Barbie holding a briefcase than some other businesswomen on the show did in these years. I had forgotten they had Walsh, Worldwide, AND M&A all duking it out at one point. It's interesting, but I can see why they cut down on this once Marland passed, as it's very complex. I didn't realize Meg visited around this time. The Snyders were so quiet and somber, by and large, that they needed her punch to keep the plot moving. Rosanna's back...zzzz. No wonder Tess fled down. Lily's wearing some outfits I hadn't seen on her before. The last one kind of looks like a chic housewife from 1980. I wonder if they were going to try Frannie/Hal if they'd brought Frannie back. Then again it might just be Marland always wanting every conversation to be eavesdropped on. Oh Lucinda... It's a shame what happened with Joe Breen. He and Liz Hubbard had real sparks.
  13. We've discussed other countries here too. I don't really know anything about Sweden but I think a few posters here are from there.
  14. So this is apparently Mart Hulswit's last episode, if we go by Soapcentral (which as always is a big question mark, given that they are 10-11 days off for Kristen Vigard's - I do have a feeling this episode was her last...if so, it was the perfect last scene for her...very pure and beautiful and innocent, the last day of hope and contentment before Morgan and Kelly returned to Springfield [and reality]). Not much of a last episode for a man who was on the show for over a decade, but oh well. This is also the end of the bizarre Ed/Vanessa relationship, which I guess was done just to move Ed toward being with a woman who had nothing in common with Rita (Maureen). It sure wasn't ever mentioned any after they split. The second clip has several scenes that sum up this era's Vanessa perfectly - paranoid, delirious, and wild. Henry repeatedly shutting her down as she rollercoasters from demanding he fire a servant to accusing Barbara Norris of spewing poison in his ear is hilarious, as is her warning a befuddled Mike to stay off her "turf" when he tries to give advice in his best Bauer manner. Other highlights include breathy recast Jackie being an idiot for plot purposes, Justin being hot, Carrie introducing herself to yet more people, and the potential of a Mike/Trish romance that sadly never came to pass (imagine the conflict once Alan showed an interest in her). She also says she can't wait for him to meet her father and brothers, even though not long after this they claimed Josh was estranged from the family... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stutATfpry8&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A&index=2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoZkbd_zVn8&index=1&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A
  15. Carrie is also in these episodes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vjk9I9OJjXg&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoZkbd_zVn8&index=1&list=UU1SN29flGTjicPnAzxJM28A
  16. I only ever got the first season of Falcon Crest on Netflix. I wonder if they ever had any more on there.
  17. The first season of Falcon Crest did. At the time Falcon Crest was more highly regarded (likely because of Jane Wyman). In recent years it's probably less known. I know Shout Factory releases some shows on DVD eventually.
  18. I mostly meant her role in Greg's life. That and Constance's salary, along with Julie Harris', likely went to people like Nicolette Sheridan. I loved Laura. She was my favorite character on the show. To me she was the heart of the show. I loved how sardonic she was (at a time when this was rare to find on soaps, usually if found relegated to Angela Channing types), and yet she was also vulnerable and caring. I also liked her relationships with people like Gary that felt real and layered. She and Ginger were both impossible to categorize the way you could with Val and Karen, and that seemed to make the show's head hurt to no end. I guess I should be happy she got as much good stuff as she did, considering that, for a show about women, Knots didn't write all that well for most women outside of Abby and Karen.
  19. Hallmark is a fairly big channel at this point. To be honest with you I was surprised anyone celebrated the anniversary at all. Knots was always the less remembered soap of any of that era. It only got 2 seasons on DVD. In current pop culture it is apparently used to get gay men hard in Port Charles, and is brought up for lame "original Desperate/Real Housewives" jokes. I haven't watched it yet but I'm glad they did something. I just wish they would invite different people on sometimes. There's something very desperate about Michele and Joan that makes me step back.
  20. Looking at your photos reminds me of that Mack/Anne/Karen story that I barely remember, aside from when she tried to seduce Mack. And a few of the flashbacks. Michelle Philips had a spark even at this time but I much preferred her when she came back. There was something, I don't know, oddly stodgy or forced about so much of season 8. I found Paige to be close to unbearable and then did a huge turnaround on her in season 9, even though the deranged fanboy in me probably should have hated her, since she essentially replaced Laura.
  21. I read about that. It seemed more pointed, so I guess it was something that truly did upset her.
  22. Calling that "taking on" is very generous. It's mostly an excuse for a terrible Bill Cosby impression.
  23. To me her role in the Olivia drug story was one of the best uses of the character. I felt like the Joshua storyline never used her properly. In the other seasons she spent so much of her time interfering in Val's problems and haranguing people and I just didn't care. The Olivia stuff and the Chip story, and her first episode were her best IMO.
