  1. I never realized how they pounce on those songs - at least it was just a bit scene with that googly-eyed Nathan recast I try to forget. There's another one with Keesha and Malcolm so we'll see. I only remember Gatti's Keesha as dying, so it's interesting to see her playing the tougher side. She's not too bad, even if it was racist to recast the role with a white woman. Sad to see Luan again. I still think she could have been a bigger, long-term part of the show. And when Sharon was such a strong, likeable heroine, with Doris as her Liz Foster. Ugh. It's sad to watch. Even Brenda Epperson in her last month or two is more compelling than pretty much anyone in a major role these days.
  2. Sad thing is that he is by default my favorite Carter, although I enjoy Nancy around Tamwar.
  3. Love the Paulina and Jake interaction, and Donna being torn, and Michele's scheme. I wonder if any of her plans are Reginald's work.
  4. I think I got it this time, if anyone still wants to deal with this. Sorry. I'll try to get the other few episodes up over the next few days, if they aren't already available.
  5. This is the first episode I had downloaded. I'm not sure if they never put up the end or they did and i lost it, but the last segment is missing. The first Nathan/barfly scene had a song that I had to take out. If it seems choppy, my apologies - I manually recorded each segment so I could take out all the commercials, to save upload time and in case they had anything that would get flagged. Well at least I've learned how to join videos, so that's an accomplishment, I suppose. Never mind - it looks like the wrong segment went up at the end. I'll do it again. Sorry about this mess.
  6. I got emotional reading Stacey's speech to Lindsay. It's heartbreaking to see this happen, but I'm glad you had Stacey tell her what she had to hear. I'm also glad you didn't feel you had to drag this out for many chapters, the way too many soaps do. And poor Carl. Russ concerned for Rachel, as always. I'm glad you had the quick comic relief with Frankie and Cass.
  7. Laughed at Donna somewhat grudgingly being kind about Lindsay. Poor Lindsay. Good to check back in with Marley after her being out for a while. Now that Michele has become her I wonder how they will interact. It's good drama to see Jake and Vicky further divided over their daughters.
  8. Poor Lindsay. Seeing Vicky lash out at Stacey even as her daughter is ill is horrific to read, but so in character for Vicky. Oh Michael, you were more than "friends" with Stacey - I have the eye scars to prove it...
  9. She looks very beautiful.
  10. I'm trying to edit down the December episodes, as a lot of it is (Australian) commercials. I think the last episode is also incomplete...or at least what I download/saved was. Then I'll try to figure out how to join clips... Someone reuploaded the October 15 and November 20 1987 episodes, right? I have that and some "Jill's Men's Line" clips that used to be on GenoaCityGuy's channel before it was taken down. (I think they used to have even more but I don't think I saved all of it...)
  11. I found a disc I saved of these 1995 episodes: August 21 October (3 - undated) December 4 December 7 Are any of these the ones you wanted to see?
  12. Cheryl Murray, who played the one and only Suzie Birchall, has several scenes in the later parts of this Emmerdale episode. Looks like it's her last credited appearance on IMDB.
  13. I think just the EE theme, as a joke, as she was on Corrie, I guess.
  14. Tracy didn't know the candle would cause a fire. She went there to kill Carla but changed her mind. By soap standards it's actually a fairly clever way to get her out of real trouble, but I imagine she would still have to face something when the truth comes out. BF I agree with you about the Simon stuff. I just don't think the boy who plays him can play this. And it will definitely be seen as camp. Anne Kirkbride memorial. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a650100/coronation-street-stars-pay-respects-to-anne-kirkbride-in-memorial-service.html I read that as a joke, in the closing moments of the ceremony, her husband played the Eastenders theme.
  15. I thought Bonnie was great in the long scene with Nitin Ganatra on Thursday. Nitin's a wonderful actor and that scene was pure drama, no camp or gurning. That Bonnie held her own with him was a pleasant surprise. I don't think this character would be best served being more than a recurring character, but so far she's fit in seamlessly. I can't help contrasting that to Ellen Thomas, who was camping it up to an offputting degree on Friday. I think she and Richard Blackwood have both taken roles that could have been interesting and reduced them by playing to the rafters. I hope a director - if this show still has directors - tells him to calm down. Figures that I'm enjoying Liam just as he's being written out. Rita Symons is always fun in comedy moments but I just don't see what Roxy brings to the show anymore. I think she and Charlie should run off. I doubt Amy would notice, and Ronnie could have the daughter she always wanted.
  16. I watched the last three episodes...the first full Corrie episodes I've watched since that hack Collinson ruined the show. One thing I'll give these episodes over the tram crash is that Blackburn at least knew to focus this on women. Women built Corrie, with men mostly in secondary roles. Rather than focusing on yet more shrieking over Peter (no wonder the actor finally quit...) or Nick, Carla, Leanne and Tracy were on display for their own identities and histories. Jane Danson was wonderful in Thursday's episode - she really made some hokey material, like Leanne accepting Kal's proposal right before he died, believable. She's always dependable, but she was special there. I felt very proud of her. Kate Ford just isn't a good actress, but when they don't go for camp, she can make it work. I thought she did a decent job showing Tracy's guilt alongside her desperate projections/delusions/self-denial. Alison King is an old hand at playing Carla's guilt and pain, but she didn't phone it in, to her credit. I love Carla's relationship with Roy and it pleased me to see it showcased on Friday. With that said, this is miserable, repetitive material for Carla, and I can see why Alison King asked for an extended break. There was one shot at the end of Thursday's episode that I absolutely loved - the camera on Leanne, then Carla, then Tracy, each stunned in their own way. The essence of soap. The scene where the Nazir mother told Simon about Kal's death. I get why people call the family wooden, but I thought she did well in that scene. - the faceoff between Jenny Bradley and Maddie was better than I'd expected. The girl who plays Maddie will be a real loss to the show, which seems to be awash in young people who can't act. - Gary, questionable haircut aside, is still hot. So is Andy. And while something seemed off with Jason's voice (or have I just forgotten his voice?), he still looks good too. And Nick doesn't look as wizened as he did when I last watched. Now, what didn't work for me: - the crockery smashing with Liz. An embarrassment. That's being kind, really. The scene where Andrea and Sean had to hold her back has been rightfully torn to pieces...much like the scenery. Liz's bizarre moment of semi-smugly telling Tracy "Amy's in there" is one to keep you up at night - was that intended as her not giving a [!@#$%^&*] about her granddaughter possibly burning to death, or was it just a poorly directed scene, not helped by Bev Callard's plastic surgery? I find Liz pathetic at this point, unsuited to the Rovers (which just feels like another set now, and has for ages). I really think it may be time to call it a day on this character. - Silly to have the David and Max scenes in the midst of the dramatic Thursday episode. I understand the idea of needing to start that story up again to lead into Friday and next week, but the scenes left a dull thud, and the boy who plays Max is wooden. Instead of being torn between parents he just seems petulant and disconnected. - The idea of Bethany is much more interesting than the reality seems to be. She seems so generic. - I'm glad that the writing was fairly sincere, and not drowning in cynicism like Collinson's era was, but one of the downsides of that is when you don't have a well-polished show, cliche moments (everyone who dies planning a trip or a marriage proposal, and so on) stick out more. This is where they need overall stronger production. There's a lot of over self-awareness in some of how the show is done these days. - Norris has visibly aged quite a bit since I last saw him, which is fine, just somewhat startling, and nothing to do with my point. My point is that he just seems nasty and petty, without the traces of humor he once had. I think, like Liz, it's time for Norris to say goodbye.
  17. Sometimes Kirin looks so handsome, especially in certain profile shots. Even with that bowling shirt he had on again today. Shame about some of the acting... I can see both sides with Leyla and Alicia. They both have hot tempers and a bad history together, and it got out of control. There are only a few things that bother me: 1) that we're supposed to believe Jacob would believe there are killer jellyfish - he's like 13 years old and he seems mature enough to me 2 ) the idiot fans who just dismiss Leyla as selfish and ungrateful and as a slut and don't try to see her side (this show has some horrible, sexist fans who want everyone to be as boring as possible) and 3) my ever-increasing fear that all of this is being done to set up her death (she's back with increasingly "evil" Jai, she's isolated, and Alicia is leaving on bad terms - it would be soapish if Leyla died while Alicia was gone, and Alicia only returned for her funeral and to set up her ultimate exit from the village). On paper it might make sense to kill Leyla, since she isn't a longtime character and her main tie to the village is going soon, but Roxy Shahidh is such a unique actress who adds a lot of humor and heart and edge to the show. There aren't any other characters like Leyla on soaps. She's a big reason why I stay interested in the show. Without her, Robert, and several others, I'd likely just walk away again.
  18. Sorry, I meant Beth. I think maybe the actress' name was Sinead. He may have, although it seemed like most of the DS brigade hated him because they said he was a terrible actor. I don't know if it's ignored, per se, as much as it's that Charity and Cain have never been presented as soulmates against all odds anyway. Most of their interaction is self-destructive and toxic. The only good thing they ever really had was Debbie, and they never knew her until she was 13.
  19. It's not really a big part of Corrie or Eastenders, that I can recall. On EE I just remember it with Joey/Lauren and with Ian and one of his cousins. HO had Sinead/Rhys, which was presented as shocking. With Emmerdale it was presented as "Oh they're just Dingles." The only relationship that was ever developed beyond that was Cain/Charity.
  20. Lisa's become too harsh for me, although she has her moments. It bothered me more when it was this huge absolute for the Dingles, especially that pervy Eli, who was "in love" with three of his cousins (Gennie, Chas, Debbie. They've toned it down a lot over the last 5 years.
  21. It was an obvious question, but all the melodrama from Stamos wasn't needed. There were ways to handle this beyond a weeks-long hand-wringing festival that it amounted to.
