  1. I don't mind the twist at all. It's all believable enough. Like the actress playing Sally pointed out, once the episode that showed her having a picture of John Paul in her desk aired, this outcome was obvious. But all the potential of the story is ruined when you blaspheme my retinas pairing John Paul with that albatross named Scott. It seriously pains every part of me.
  2. I didn't mind Gordon pulling a desperate stunt like he did, but I agree with you about the shrieking. Belle being there to have a randomly forced line or two was something out of Corrie. I wish they would give Charity a true friendship with someone. A relationship that isn't toxic in some way. Someone unexpected like Sandy could be gold. Or maybe I just really love Sandy.
  3. Looks like Emmerdale is going to be the soap to miss in 2016. Almost everything out of McLeod's mouth fills me with dread.
  4. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/news/a786735/coronation-street-is-killing-off-a-character-but-itll-be-off-screen/ A horribly short sighted decision.
  5. Jorgie Porter. Theresa could be a mess of a character, but when correctly written for was great entertainment. She was one of the people holding the show on her shoulders during the Allan/Marquess/Phillips/Smithwick merry go round. Shooting Calvin was the best thing she ever did. A true blessing that catapulted her to lead status, whose place on the canvas Kirkwood replaced with Sinead, who he quickly ruined beyond belief. Theresa hasn't recovered her status on the show since, sadly. I only wish we could have seen her and Warren taken further. They had bucket loads of chemistry together. That elevator stunt is one of my favourites the show has done. It also makes me miss Neil Toon, who was written out too hastily as Kyle Ryder, who Porter also had a lot of chemistry with. I also believe it was a missed opportunity to reference her and Ste's short relationship during everything that happened with him and John Paul. But Kirkwood only ever does anything for plot, so nuances aren't allowed. Even with the producer shake ups, the show was still grounded in numerous friendships, which have all been viscerally abolished now. Mitzeee was Theresa's last true friend, and she hasn't had a meaningful relationship since. Even after that horrible introduction plot with Tony, she has managed to become a favourite, because Jorgie Porter has always been able to make her likeable, rootable, and given her depth beyond the blonde bimbo trope. However, her soliloquy to Myra about no one giving her a chance because of what they believe her to be felt so unearned. And even though I hated how much time Kirkwood wasted Dodger away from Texas, with women he had no chemistry with, like Theresa, and especially Maxine, Theresa's last great scene is probably when she threatened to shoot Dodger after Texas died. That she was still hung up on him when she returned from prison, with an unnecessary pregnancy to boot, was a travesty. Lastly, adding to my woe about the lack of friendships on this show, it would have been a nice throwback if Theresa could have left because Anita helped her get a job somewhere. A harking back to her beginning with the first friend she made in the village. On that note, I was always confused as to why she never worked at the Roscoe's garage, when she is a qualified mechanic. Another missed opportunity for friendships to be mined.
  6. Since Hilary brought it to the fore ...
  7. What is news that isn't at all upsetting, Alex?
  8. That trailer reminded me that last year I saw a great film, Force Majeure, that starred Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantbane). It took me awhile when watching the film to place where I had previously seen him. When it clicked, it was so strange seeing him in street clothes, and looking pretty hot as a result. Watching the upcoming season and contrasting both images of him is going to be strange, nonetheless. Still, go watch the film everyone.
  9. Was Rachel around for the 2001 story. Was she CEO yet? I know that's one of the years she returned.
  10. With all that is happening with Nicole, has this show ever had a nurses strike story? It's so funny to me that petite Rachel really is such a force to be reckoned with. When Nicole was tearing into her, I was scared on her behalf. Kerry Dewing has been a phenomenal job with this breast cancer gene story. She has come such a long way, our Kylie has.
  11. I finally got around to binge watching every season last year. I found every year to be better than the last, until season 7. Thank God for Katya!
  12. Nursing homes will be hopping tonight.
  13. Always great to have another Shorty fan posting with us. I started in August 2012 at NZ pace, so you're watching a period slightly before my time. Bella is a favourite of mine as well. A truly great heroine character, that never gets too dumb, or preachy, or saccharine. A rare feat. I hope you soak up as much Brooke (my favourite character) as you can. I miss her so much.
  14. Thank you for affirming what I've been saying, ILWS! 2015 was a pretty solid year, all things considered. It may be manic, but I enjoy it more than I do Corrie and EastEnders.
  15. Not shocked at all. I figured they'd bring her back seeing as she's the original. I hope she just pops in, cries a few, and then pops back out. Nothing long-term. DTC himself has said Westbrook's return is only for a few episodes.
  16. Frank Kelly, who played Declan and Megan Macey's father, Dermot Macey, has passed away. He was most famous for being on sitcom, Father Ted. From what I remember, he was shockingly horrible on the show. Still, I wonder if they'll input this into story at all.
  17. Don Diamont is probably the earliest soap debuting actor that I fancy. Of course, that's only after the point that he survived the 80's/early 90's looks. YRBB, I'd love to know what you type in the search engine. "Pictures for thirsty thots..." Am I close?
  18. Do you know if Murray's exit today was a permanent one? The shows official twitter account made it seem that way. The long lost brother thing was an odd thing to create if they weren't going to do anything with it. Murray never really did much for me so I can't say I'll miss him much, though I liked him more than Wendy. Though Evan and, especially Bella, are all I truly cared about, it is said to see the Cooper family disintegrate. I had an inkling when the Hannah's were brought on that it probably meant they'd be ushered out. Strange to watch one era of the show eclipse another before my very eyes. What truly upsets is that we may be losing Jimmy, too. What a shame if that's the case. He brought such fresh flair and fun to the show. He's quickly became one of my favourite male characters on the show since I started watching. At least with Murray and Wendy, their ousters felt like the right time. I still feel Jimmy could have a strong place on the show if they chose to write him. Like I said before, it would be a great idea to pair him with Margaret once she returns and her marriage ultimately crumbles. She needs a man like him who isn't judgemental, made mistakes himself, and could lighten up her life in a heartbeat.
  19. I didn't fact check. You're probably right.
  20. I have retrieved my list! However, other than the top two, the rankings were literally as they came into my head. If I would have properly shuffled them around, Carol would probably have been number 3, amidst other changes I was too lazy at the time to think about. 1. David Wicks2. Janine Butcher3. Pat Butcher4. 21. He didn't like it in Spain. The end.
  22. Sarah ended up miscarrying, I'm assuming? That certainly would have been interesting to touch upon in later years. Was Cord and Tina's daughter named after Sarah Gordon, or is no connection at all?
  23. As for Ben, they should have had Vincent seduce him during his rivalry with Phil. Maybe he could have genuinely helped Ben in the end somehow, or maybe Ben gets too infatuated with him. Either way, any excuse to not have this Abi story, and any chance to get Richard Blackwood's kit off.
