  2. I believe the episodes will be edited, but only to supplant it with different music (due to music rights issues) and to accommodate current commercial time standards. The issue with reducing to half-hour to help extend the shows is what the air the other half-hour. Plus, do you air the new episode at the top of the hour or the back half? They don't want to lose viewers, so it'll be a tough call on what they eventually decide and how to promote it so that viewers don't get confused. Tonight marks the beginning of reduced scheduling for the British soaps so we'll soon hear how their fans react.
  3. Yup. Hosted by Reba McEntire, the show was quite popular and was the go-between the cancellation of "The City" and the launch of "Port Charles." As noted by KMan101, they were 30-minute editions of classic episodes of the ABC soaps, "All My Children," "General Hospital" and "One Life to Live." Reba introduced key moments during each break as a way to help explain away the heavily edited out material since it was just a half-hour version of the shows. I really enjoyed them and was saddened when it was over. "Port Charles" was alright, but it was never, to me, as good as "Loving" or the other ABC soaps at the time. Only Y&R is currently confirmed to be airing a non-original on Friday (awaiting official word from CBS on what it is they'll air), but I would imagine they must be thinking of following the British shows to some extent. While Mon-Wed makes the most sense, scheduling wise, CBS might opt to do what the British broadcasters have done and just air as little as two episodes per week. By RC Cates' comments, the show only has 15 episodes left, including this week. That only takes us to 5 weeks of shows if Mon-Wed, but we know the show will air Mon-Thur this week, which leaves us with even less.
  4. The "classic" episodes didn't really muster in the ratings and they weren't even classics to begin with. Only "classic" episodes aired featuring Vanessa Marcil's Brenda Barrett have generated any interest by ABC's viewers. She was a HUGE draw for that network. Another reason is music rights and material not jiving with what was currently airing at the time. Hence, ABC aired "current" story related reruns on holidays before outright deciding to cancel all their scripted soaps, saving GH at the last minute. Back to Y&R...can't comment on what ya'll are talking about just yet. Probably tomorrow I can though.
  5. "Sunset Beach" was partially produced by Spelling Television, which was absorbed by CBS. Don't think they'd be interested in any of it. I think with "Passions," NBC knows its a cult classic and is playing it up as long as it costs next to nothing. Before I read the context (didn't see your whole post outside of the sidebar preview on the front page), I was thinking you meant a supernatural "One Life to Live" spinoff would have been a good idea. With that said, yeah, I think Ron Carlivati is good for outlandish, supernatural-ish type programs moreso than the soaps that are on today. What I wish he would have done with "DAYS" was instead of playing old stories again, do the unexpected and make things more character based and more love and passion without pairing up rapists/murderers with heroins. Or rehashing dead, dead, dead, princess storylines, or resurrecting a respectfully dead character.
  6. Before Disney+ was released, Disney noted that the streaming service would be for family oriented programming only. They have set Hulu up for the adult oriented programming, particularly the FX related content. If the ABC soaps were to have their libraries available on a streaming service it would definitely go through Hulu. Ironically, that's where the reboots were hosted for the short period they occurred.

  8. Well, this is an interesting thread.
  9. Also removed the requirement for status updates to receive admin approval before they get posted.
  10. The setting is now on. I kept it off until enough people read this post.
  11. Status Updates The status updates feature on the SON Community is to be used by a member to share random thoughts and ideas only. It is not meant to drive discussion that could be better served in one of the available forums, nor should it be utilized to comment on the functionality of the SON Community, its management or staff. If the feature's purpose receives numerous violations of its purpose, it will be removed without notification.
  12. Invision did something and has reported this issue as fixed, as some of you have noticed. It'll be fixed in future versions of Invision for other site owners soon.
  13. Encountered the issue myself using a dummy account. Having someone at Invision look further into this matter as we speak.
  14. Let's tackle the Ignore User Settings issue that has gone unaddressed. Many of you have said that you are ignoring a user but you still see their posts. Until recently, I was under the impression that all you did was click the user's name and select ignore or something to that effect. Turns out, you have to select that user and ignore them using select criteria. There isn't a one-click "ignore" and you don't ever see their postings. With that said, the setting to ignore a user has been on in the backend for several years, but it appears as though Invision may have made changes at some point in upgrades to how you ignore a user so that you have to ignore them individually based on "posts," "messages," "signature" and "mentions," which means that if you don't have them selected for each individual option they aren't truly ignored in the sense most thought the ignore feature meant. If you aren't sure if you are properly ignoring a user, make sure to check your ignore setting by going to the ignore page: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/ignore/ When there, type in the person's name and check off the corresponding boxes. If you already have them selected for everything and they are still not being ignored, I'll then be able to get Invision to further investigate. Currently, I'm getting the message that everything is okay with the system in that regard. Let me know your thoughts. ADDENDUM: From my previous investigations into this, Invision doesn't have a solution or seems to be aware of a solution to this problem. However, I've seen numerous board owners complaining the feature isn't working as it should on their sites as well.
  15. I doubt that thas anything to do with it. With "Blue Bloods" filming in NY and other CBS dramas doing the same, it's just easier to hire a soap actor for a gig rather than a bigger name actor or a no-name. They already have the training to remember a script quicker than you can eat breakfast and they aren't going to fuss around when it takes a week to shoot a scene compared to several episodes in a day.
  16. FIRST LOOK: Erika Slezak On ‘Blue Bloods’ https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2019/04/first-look-erika-slezak-blue-bloods
  17. Yup. He is. LOL. As long as no one is outing an actor who is not out in real-life, I don't see a problem with this thread.
  18. Peter Porte (ex-Ricky Williams, "The Young and the Restless") is also out. He got married in October in New Orleans to Jacob Villere (pictured below to his immediate right, our left): Note: The above photo is not from their wedding and was captured months prior to the wedding. Another photo:
  19. Love me some BritBox. That's how I watch "Emmerdale," "EastEnders" and "Coronation Street." Too bad there's no equivalent (that I'm aware of) for "Home and Away," "Hollyoaks" and "Neighbours." Sure, "Hollyoaks" is available on Hulu, but the delay is too great.
  20. Warnings have been submitted and the issue should be resolving itself. As for the ignore button issue, I've been investigating and it appears the ignore feature not working is a widespread issue among other Invision Power Board. So far there has been no updates from Invision on a resolution. I'll keep everyone posted when I have more, or a resolution.
  21. Vee, This is the second time you've called me out over a feature not working on the boards. Just to clarify, the feature is on and has been on for years. However, as far as I am aware, there is a bug in the system that is showing "ignored" member posts. I am working on trying to fix this problem. There is yet to be a solution. This was already stated before on other areas of the board. I do not see why, with whatever animosity you have against me, you continue posting about this topic and calling me out. Just a reminder: @Toups is in charge of the MB and I am in charge of the entertainment website/news. That's been the protocol for years. Generally speaking, I handle the tech for the boards but not much else.
  22. Outside of the title and the link, nowhere in the written story, nor the video, does it say she's "banned for life." BET.com is clearly click-baiting.
  23. Is that the guy who walks differently? Is that the actor or the character? Either way, don't see what Ryan saw in him. Harry or even Ste, okay. Kyle? No thanks. I even thought Kyle looked like D.S. Armstrong, who I'd also take with Ryan. Even though Ryan is a douche, I'd actually root for him with anyone at this point. Just prefer him with Harry.
  24. I don't know about James. Just something about him that I just don't like. That doesn't mean that I can't see him paired with someone, whether it be Harry or Ryan, but I'm not much of a fan. But I'd take him over Ste and anyone at this point. Ugh. He's so boring.
