ARTICLE: Ryan Paevey On Contract At ‘General Hospital,’ Erika Slezak Recurring – Full Contract List
An update to the show's end credits on Friday indicates that Ryan Paevey is back on contract at "General Hospital," while Erika Slezak, who has already wrapped taping, is appearing in a recurring capacity. Paevey, who appeared in the contract role of Nathan West from 2013-2018, is back on the show playing the same character, despite details being unclear on how the character is alive seven years after Port Charles honored him with a memorial service fit for a hero. During an interrogation by Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) in his hospital bed, a result of his crashing his vehicle while seemingly escaping danger, Nathan revealed his last memory was of being shot by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), with the good detective wondering how his wounds healed so fast. Nathan was then informed that the shooting took place seven years prior. As for Slezak, the "One Life to Live" icon is playing a new character with a connection to the late Monica Quartermaine. At the end of the Friday, September 26 episode, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) comes upon an unidentified woman who appears at the Quartermaine mausoleum, with Tracy asking, "Who are you, and why the hell are you trespassing?" Slezak's character responds again, saying, she's "someone who's been waiting quite a while to meet you." According to the end credits, Slezak's character is Veronica Bard. The last name might seem familiar to long-time viewers as that's Monica's maiden name. So, how is Veronica related to Monica? ARTICLE: Tamara Braun First Air Date Set For ‘The Young And The Restless’
Last appearing in daytime as Ava Vitali on “Days of our Lives” in April, two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Tamara Braun is returning to the genre in the newly created role of Sienna Bacall, beginning with the Tuesday, October 14 episode. In an interview with TV Guide Magazine, on newsstands now, Braun reveals that her character is introduced to the canvas as someone who runs a club in Hollywood. “There’s mystery there, which I think is a really cool way to introduce the character and very fitting for a soap.” With her casting, Braun reunites with several former colleagues at other soap operas she’s worked, including Lucas Adams, who portrayed her on-screen son Tripp Dalton on “Days of our Lives,” and Roger Howarth, who played Franco Baldwin on “General Hospital” during Braun’s run as Kim Nero (2017-2019). Details on Howarth’s character on “The Young and the Restless” have not been announced, while Adams will take over the role of Noah Newman, the eldest biological child of Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). “The universe was conspiring to put all of us together,” commented Braun to TV Guide. “It’s super cool to be able to work with people you’ve worked with before, so I’m looking forward to seeing what comes down the pike.” Talking about getting to work with the veteran cast of “The Young and the Restless,” Braun notes, “It’s such a great group of people, and I’m hoping the fans dig it. I’m just looking forward to being able to play with a new group of people, and people I’ve played with before.” In a fall preview released by TV Insider, head writer and executive producer Josh Griffith teased the storyline involving Braun, Adams and Howarth, saying, “They’re all tied into the same story, which is this major L.A noir story that I’m telling that has Nick and Sharon right at the center of it as they try to save Noah from a very dangerous situation that will involve Tamara and Roger’s characters.” Another new character being introduced by the show, who will also be involved in the storyline, is Detective Burrow, played by yet another “General Hospital” alum, Matt Cohen, who also appeared during Braun’s time in Port Charles. Cohen will make his first appearance on the Thursday, October 16 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” Note: The post Tamara Braun First Air Date Set For ‘The Young And The Restless’ first appeared on Soap Opera Network. ARTICLE: Erika Slezak Wraps Limited Run On ‘General Hospital’ Same Day She Debuts In Port Charles
While the name of the character she’ll be portraying remains under wraps until her first episode airs on Friday, September 26, it looks like Erika Slezak‘s time in Port Charles is already coming to a close, according to an update by her official fan club. In a post shared by her fan club president, Walter Miller, the same day Slezak makes her debut in Port Charles will also mark the conclusion of her stay in Los Angeles. He also included a statement from Slezak, talking about her three weeks of taping at Prospect Studios in Hollywood. “The past three weeks have been an incredible yet exhausting journey,” said Slezak in a statement released to the fan club. “I worked every day with amazing, friendly, and lovely people—not just the actors, but everyone involved, from the hair and make-up team, including Angela, Wendy, and Karol, to the crew and the fabulous Bruce Cooperman, who I have known for over 30 years since his days as a cameraman on ‘OLTL,’ and the security guard, Emma. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. I couldn’t have done it without them. Reconnecting with Chris McKenna (my Joey) [now appearing as Jack Brennan] and his lovely family was wonderful. Seeing Marianne, Chris’s mom, was a special moment, and it was a delightful surprise to see Jessica Tuck [ex-Cassandra Pierce; ex-Megan Gordon, ‘One Life to Live’],” Slezak continued. “Spending time with Tuc Watkins [ex-David Vickers, ‘One Life to Live’] and his children, as well as with Roger Howarth [ex-Austin Gatlin-Holt; ex-Franco Baldwin; ex-Todd Manning, ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘General Hospital’], provided a wonderful break. “Adjusting to the different schedule has been a challenge, but Frank Valentini, ‘the boss,’ has been very helpful and patient. He’s a dear old friend and a highly skilled executive producer. Many others I knew from ‘OLTL’ have helped make the transition to ‘GH’ less stressful.” Shout-Out To Jane Elliot / Return Home “A very special thank you to Jane Elliot [Tracy Quartermaine], who was as wonderful, delightful, and challenging to work with as I had imagined. She’s positively brilliant!” said Slezak of her scene partner. “It’s been great to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. While this has been such a terrific experience, I am very happy to be heading home. I have missed my family, my puppies, and my pussycat so much. Working on ‘GH’ was a wonderful experience, and I hope all of you will tune in tomorrow to watch me in Port Charles!” Different Type Of Character In a recent interview with TV Guide Magazine, on newsstands now, Slezak recalled her journey to Port Charles, beginning with a phone call from the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, who also held the same position at “One Life to Live” until the show’s conclusion in 2012. “He filled me in on what he wanted for the story arc, and I said, ‘That’s very interesting, because it’s completely different from what I played on ‘One Life to Live,'” said Slezak. “I was always Viki [Lord Buchanan], confident and strong. This is a totally different character. It’s an exciting, wonderful change.” Final Episode Although she is wrapping her stint at “General Hospital,” having taped for just three weeks, it’s unknown when Slezak will make her final appearance on the daytime drama series. That said, her character plays a significant role in a story arc tied to the recent passing of the Monica Quartermaine character, played for nearly 50 years by the late Leslie Charleson. Check out a promo featuring Slezak below. Note: The post Erika Slezak Wraps Limited Run On ‘General Hospital’ Same Day She Debuts In Port Charles first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Read More

ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Honors Dr. Monica Quartermaine With Special Memorial Episodes
On Thursday, September 25 and Friday, September 26, ABC’s “General Hospital” is set to honor the life of one of its most beloved characters, Dr. Monica Quartermaine, portrayed for nearly 50 years by the late Leslie Charleson. Ahead of the episodes, the daytime drama series has released a tribute package dedicated to both the actress and her character, featuring messages of love and adoration for both from her fellow cast members, including Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), Genie Francis (Laura Collins), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Laura Wright (Carly Spencer), Kristina Wagner (Felicia Scorpio), John J. York (Mac Scorpio), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn Quartermaine) and Wally Kurth (Ned Quartermaine), among others. The tribute includes clips from the memorial service episodes, featuring speakers from the Quartermaine family, as well as friends and colleagues of the Monica character, who was a prominent fixture of General Hospital, a place the Quartermaine matriarch once called her home away from home. “The only people she loved more were her own family, and I know she loved them very much. She treasured what time she had with them,” says Laura as she speaks about her dear friend, Monica, in the memorial episodes. Meanwhile, Laura’s portrayer notes Monica is “like a Dr. Hardy [] or a Jessie Brewer []. These people are General Hospital. They made General Hospital.” “We’re here to honor Monica Bard Quartermaine,” says Ned (Kurth) in the preview clip. Watch the tribute package below. Earlier this year, “General Hospital” dedicated its 62nd anniversary episode to Monica when, in the story, the fictional General Hospital unveiled the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Wing. The dedication came just a few months after her portrayer passed away. Charleson passed away on January 12, 2025, aged 79, after suffering from sequelae of blunt head trauma, or what is also known as traumatic brain injury (TBI) with the manner of death being classified as an accident, according to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner. Other significant medical conditions listed included Charleson’s history of asthma, arthritis, atrial fibrillation (aka AFib, which is an irregular heartbeat that affects the upper chambers of the heart), as well as normal pressure hydrocephalus (fluid buildup in the brain), the latter of which can cause brain injury, with such symptoms as memory loss, difficulty with walking, and bladder issues, among other matters. On the day of her death, Variety reported the actress had “suffered several falls that prevented her from getting around. Although it impeded her mobility and resulted in her need for a walker, it never got her spirit down.” Charleson was hospitalized the week before her death after one such fall. Born February 22, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, Charleson made her television debut in 1964 on the soap opera “A Flame in the Wind,” playing a character named Pam. Later, she took on the role of Alice Whipple on “As The World Turns” before truly making a name for herself when she portrayed Iris Donnelly on “Love Is A Many Splendored Thing.” She joined “General Hospital” in 1977 as a recast Monica Quartermaine, the wife of Alan Quartermaine (the late Stuart Damon), who famously had an affair with former lover Rick Webber (Chris Robinson) which helped establish one of the most popular love triangles in daytime history with Alan notoriously “stalking” the pair as he worked to keep tabs on what he thought they were doing behind his back. Throughout her career, Charleson received four Daytime Emmy Awards nominations for her portrayal of Monica Quartermaine, first in 1980 in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series, along with nominations in 1982 and 1983 in the same category. In 1995, Charleson received her fourth nomination but by that time the category had been renamed to Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Outside of daytime, Charleson appeared in episodes of such shows as “The Rockford Files,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Diagnosis Murder,” “The Streets of San Francisco,” “Barnaby Jones” and “Canon,” among others. Charleson made her final appearance on “General Hospital” in December 2023, appearing in scenes opposite co-stars Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) and Michael Easton (ex-Hamilton Finn), among others. She also appeared in scenes at the Quartermaine mansion as the family celebrated the holidays. Check out a preview clip from the Thursday, September 25 episode below. ARTICLE: Ashley Jones Back To ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ (Exclusive)
While Ashley Jones, who has portrayed Bridget Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful” off and on since 2004, was present during last month’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the daytime drama, which formally kicked off the show’s production at its new home at Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood, after more than 38 years at Television City, she recently revealed in an interview with Soap Opera Network that fans can expect to see more of her on-screen starting next month. “I’m coming back in October and yeah, you’re going to see me do something I haven’t done before, interact with some people I haven’t worked with before,” Jones said, while out promoting her new Lifetime TV movie, “The Girl Who Survived: The Alina Thompson Story,” which is now available to stream via myLifetime and the Lifetime app. Although she couldn’t delve into any specific storyline details, Jones was asked her thoughts on any potential storylines Bridget could find herself involved in, particularly as she often works closely at the hospital with Finn (Tanner Novlan). Taking a moment, Jones shared, “I sound like a broker record saying this. I could throw out so many fun ideas that fans have floated, and when I’m on set, I’m like, ‘Oh, this could be fun. Oh, we have chemistry!’ [However], what it really comes down to is it’s a half-hour show, and it’s hard to have all the characters on at the same time. And I think I can only imagine if I were, which I never will be, because he’s a legend. But if I were trying to do what [executive producer and head writer] Brad Bell‘s done successfully for 30, are we going on the 39th year, almost to 40 years? I think when he gets a spark and he really sees something, he writes it. And I trust his instincts immensely.” “I’ve been grateful that he brings Bridget back on the canvas so often. As he sees fit, I will be there,” continues Jones. “I think it’s an obvious choice for Bridget and Finn to have something, and they work so well. We work so well together, we could figure it out. And it doesn’t always have to be romantic, although I wouldn’t mind that either, because Bridget hasn’t had a romance in quite a while. We wonder, like, ‘What does she do outside the hospital?’ There are a lot of little avenues that she could take. The bottom line is, if they write it, I will be there as long as I’m available.” Ribbon Cutting Ceremony In addition to the lot being home to the classics, including “I Love Lucy,” Ryan Murphy Studios is also setting up space at Sunset Last Palmas alongside the long-running soap opera. “It’s old Hollywood. It’s been around a long time,” says Jones, who remains awe-inspired by the history of the studio lot. “You can see, I’m just naming a couple, there’ve been countless movies shot there, and you’re walking around and you remember, ‘Oh, that movie was there. Oh, that movie.’ And you see the posters of some of the old Hollywood, real Hollywood legends, and it feels like you’re part of the game still.” As for her Lifetime movie, which is based on a true story, “The Girl Who Survived” follows 15-year-old Alina Thompson (Brielle Robillard), an aspiring model in Los Angeles during the 1980s, who gets caught in the dangerous web of a serial killer. Brielle Robillard, Sam Trammell, Ashley Jones Randy Shropshire/Getty Images for A+E Global Media Without the knowledge of her parents, Carl (Sam Trammell; “True Blood”) and Nancy (Jones), Alina sneaks off to attend an amateur photo casting call where she meets up-and-coming photographer William Bradford (Steve Byers). Unbeknownst to Alina, William is a serial killer hiding in plain sight, using his charms to lure aspiring young women into secluded photo shoots that end in unspeakable violence. After their meeting, Bradford becomes obsessed with Alina’s beauty and ultimately sets his sights on her as his next target. But thanks to the protective instincts of Carl and a series of fateful twists, Alina manages to survive, where many others did not. “I think people are going to really love the period piece of it, all the eighties, nostalgia, some of the music, the feeling of what life was like when growing up, whether you’re my age and you were growing up, or you are my parents’ age and you were raising kids, you’ll remember that time,” shares Jones of some of the reasons viewers should take time to watch the movie. Jones added, “I find it fascinating, and I don’t know if it’s a healthy obsession, but a lot of our culture is a little obsessed with True Crime right now. And a lot of times I’ve noticed the soap opera world and all of our amazing fans from the shows I’ve been on, like ‘Young and the Restless,’ ‘General Hospital,’ and ‘Bold and Beautiful,’ they tend to [support], especially the Lifetime original movies. So they’ve always appreciated them. Before the two I directed did very, very well, and I loved that this community came together to support me, and I’m really grateful. I hope they do it again.” Watch our full interview with Jones below. Note: The post Ashley Jones Back To ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ (Exclusive) first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Read More

Y&R: Sally McDonald promoted to co-executive producer
- ARTICLE: Sally McDonald Upped To Co-Executive Producer At ‘The Young And The Restless’
Sally McDonald, a longtime director and former supervising producer at “The Young and the Restless,” has been named co-executive producer at the daytime drama series, working alongside executive producer Josh Griffith, Soap Opera Network has learned. According to sources, with McDonald by his side, Griffith, who also serves as head writer of the daytime drama series, will be leaning more into the writing side of his duties. McDonald first started her career at the then-named CBS Television City studio in 1983 when she was hired as a typist, and was eventually promoted to a production supervisor for various productions at the studio. She later joined the long-running soap opera in 1989 as a production supervisor and was then hired as an associate director before becoming a director on the series in 1996. The CBS moniker was eventually dropped from the building, which now simply goes by Television City. During her time as a director at the soap opera, McDonald received eight Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team (1996-1999, 2001-2002, 2011 and 2019) category out of 17 nominations. In an interview with TV Insider last year, series star Sharon Case (Sharon Newman) thanked McDonald, among others, for their support in taping a special standalone episode dedicated to her 30 years on the daytime drama. “There were a lot of scenes and I had a lot of dialogue to memorize. I was in a time frame where I was in a lot of shows and doing a lot of work and long hours and that was one of those moments of terror,” said Case at the time. “I didn’t think I’d be able to do it, but the crew and the people I work with are right there with you. We all work together as a group so well. My stage manager, Fritz [Brekeller], and my director, Sally McDonald, really were key in getting me through that and making it so that I could accomplish that show. It was a big show, so thank you to them.” Note: The post Sally McDonald Upped To Co-Executive Producer At ‘The Young And The Restless’ first appeared on Soap Opera Network. Best known for his work in capturing the biggest and brightest moments for the stars of tomorrow, including several young and familiar faces across daytime soaps, renowned photographer Brad Everett Young has died. Young, 46, had just come from seeing a movie and was driving alone on the 134 Freeway in Los Angeles County on the night of Sunday, September 14, when he was killed after his car was struck by another vehicle that was heading in the wrong direction, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported Young’s passing, citing Young’s publicist, Paul Christensen. The beloved photographer died on the scene, while the other driver survived and was later hospitalized. Born July 24, 1979, in Danville, Virginia, Young graduated from Chatham High School and Averett University, where he served as editor in chief of the high school newspaper and his college’s newsmagazine. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, which included minors in Journalism and Psychology, Young had every intention of attending medical school in Los Angeles until his passion for photography and acting overtook him. As an actor, Young had several bit parts in such shows as “Boy Meets World,” “Felicity,” “The Practice,” “Charmed,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and spinoff “90210,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Numb3rs,” among others. He also appeared in the films “I Love You, Man,” “Rumor Has It…” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Jurassic Park III” and “Austin Powers in Goldmember,” just to name a few. His skill as a photographer brought Young much acclaim, with a portfolio that included projects or shoots for several major publications, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, PEOPLE and Variety, among others. Johnny Flowers, Mike Manning, Zach Tinker Brad Everett Young On top of the work he’s done for the likes of David Harbour (Stranger Things”), Seth Green (“Family Guy”) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “All My Children”), among others, several past and present daytime soap stars had their shots taken by Young over the years, including cast members from “General Hospital” (Rory Gibson, Tabyana Ali, Eden McCoy, Evan Hofer, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Chad Duell, Ryan Paevey, Kristen Alderson, etc.), “Days of our Lives” (Martha Madison, Zach Tinker, Casey Deidrick, Christopher Sean, Eric Martsolf, Jen Lilley, etc.), “Beyond the Gates” (Mike Manning), “The Young and the Restless” (Billy Flynn, Lucas Adams, Courtney Hope, Camryn Grimes, David Lago, Lachlan Buchanan, Brian Gaskill, etc.) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (Felisha Cooper, Kim Matula). Young founded Dream Loud Official, a non-profit organization formed to help save art and music programs in schools by raising awareness and encouraging school systems to retain the art and music programs instead of letting them go. “Brad’s passion for both the arts and the people behind them was unmatched,” Christensen said in a statement released to THR. “He lived his mission of keeping creativity alive, and his legacy will continue through Dream Loud Official.” Young is survived by his brother, Chris. The family plans to hold a Memorial service for Young with arrangements to be announced. Watch clips from behind the scenes of Young’s work for the Dream Loud campaign below.
