-Jack and Billie are on the beach, preparing the food they found which consists of fish and some berries they found. Billie tells Jack they will just have to make do with what they have. She notices him struggling to start a fire and begins to laugh at him. Jack tells her to give it a whirl if she thinks she can do better. She fiddles with the branches and rocks Jack found and starts the fire withing a minute. Jack is both impressed and embarrassed, wondering if she ever was a girl scout. Billie says it was her ISA training and she has also had to survive many ordeals that required skills like this. Jack calls her a "show off."

Billie wonders why Jack has so much trouble with surviving on an island when he has been trapped on enough of him. Jack thinks it's his old age. It's bringing his memory down with it. Billie laughs and thinks they should just prepare their meal and enjoy. Jack agrees as they get to work on their makeshift meal.

-At the Salem Inn, Katherine returns to her and Cal's suite and finds Cal about to rush out. She asks where he is going. Cal says he is going to the courthouse. Chelsea is being arraigned and he was once again not told when it was happening. Katherine asks what is going on with him and his behavior since they got back from the cruise ship debacle. Cal doesn't answer and reminds Katherine that Caroline promised to make sure she and the family kept him informed and that promise was told to him this morning.

Katherine reminds Cal that Caroline is going through alot, as is her family. Cal defiantly states they are his family too, at least that is what they told him. They said blood didn't matter but he is beginning to think it does. Katherine tells him not to think like that. A fed up Cal says he has to go and walks out as a worried Katherine begs him not to go and make a scene. She then gives chase and follows him.

-At the courthouse, Alice notices Doug seems rather upset seeing Victor and Maggie together and tells Doug that it's time to let go of the anger. Doug turns and tells Alice he knows what she is going to say. She is going to tell him to just have faith in his love for Julie and to just remember and focus on that love. She is going to advise him to sit down and work things out with Julie, Maggie, and Victor. Alice smiles, saying he knows her well. She insists it's the right thing to do. Doug tells Alice he isn't sure he can do that after all the lies. He has never felt this hurt. Alice understands and says that time heals all wounds. Doug tells Alice he must get going and needs to say goodbye to Hope. Alice urges him to remember what she said. Doug tells Alice he will.

Meanwhile, Bo is with Hope. Steve and Kayla join them, along with Caroline and Kim. Kim tells them Shane left. Frankie also walks over. Caroline asks why Greta was not at the hearing. Frankie says she had to handle Spectator business and had to leave. Hope asks Bo what he thinks Chelsea's chances are. Bo shakes his head and says he thinks they aren't good with Patricia around. Plus, Orpheus already set this whole thing in motion by sending evidence in to make sure Chelsea was arrested so he could interfere again somehow.

Steve tells Bo that they will all just have to keep an eye out. Kayla thinks they just have to pray and hope that the system gets it right. Bo says that having faith in the system is very hard to do with all that has happened to their family. Doug comes over and says he has to be going. Hope embraces him and tells him to call her later and tell her where he is staying so she can check on him when she wishes. Doug says that isn't necessary but he will call her and tell her his whereabouts. He promises Hope he is ok. Hope gives him another hug and kiss before he leaves.

Nearby, Victor is on the phone with Greta and he tells her he should be back at the mansion within the hour. They can meet then. He tells her to bring the lab tests and any other proof she has. He then tells her he will see her soon and hangs up. Maggie comes over and Victor asks if she is ready to go. Maggie nods and tells Victor they just need to take Alice home. Victor and Maggie approach Bo, Hope, Caroline, Kim, Kayla, Frankie, and Steve and tell them all they are leaving. Victor tells Bo to call if he needs anything and he promises to do what he can to help Chelsea. Bo appreciates that. Victor and Maggie say their goodbyes and go to get Alice so they can leave.

The scene then shifts to outside the courtroom where Abby is telling Alice that Forrest went to go get the car and then he will be bringing her home. Alice says she isn't so sure she likes Abby spending so much time with a man so much older them her that they don't know well. Abby assures her that "Fred" is a kind soul that has been nothing but generous and caring to her. Maggie and Victor then come to get Alice so they can go. They both greet Abby and ask how she is holding up. Abby says she is doing her best. Her brother needs her to be strong. Maggie is proud of her and asks if she has a ride home. Abby says she does. Alice tells Maggie "Fred" is taking Abby home. Maggie nods and tells Abby they will catch up later as she has a few questions about this "Fred." A sarcastic Abby tells Maggie she isn't the only one who has said that.

Max sees Abby with Alice and Maggie and then sees them leave. He opts to take the opportunity to talk to her before Forrest returns. Max approaches, telling Abby that Mrs. Horton is right. Abby rolls her eyes and tells Max she is not his concern. Max tells her he cares about her and they really need to talk. Abby says she doesn't want to deal with him or the issues they have with each other right now. Her father is missing and she has been through hell, along with so many of her loved ones. She just wants to be left alone. Forrest returns and asks if there is a problem here. He then remembers that things seemed tense earlier between Max and Abby and he tells Max that he is clearly upsetting Abby and thinks it best for him to leave. Max looks Forrest in the eye and tells him he thinks HE should leave.

Just then, Cal shows up with Katherine behind him. She begs him not to start anything. They learn the results of the arraignment and that it's over. Cal is upset that he missed it. Katherine tells him he can still help and encourages him to go see what he can do. Cal shakes his head and says he has no desire to. If they can't make the effort, he isn't going to either. Cal then says he is leaving and walks out of the courthouse as a confused and worried Katherine looks on and then follows.

-Back on the island, Jack and Billie have finished their meal and are now lying on the beach, looking at the clear, star-lit sky. Billie tells Jack she hardly ever takes the time out to appreciate the stars and their beauty. Jack says it's hard to when life is so hectic. Billie just hopes they find a way to get home. Their families need them. Jack urges her to forget about her troubles and to just enjoy the surroundings at the moment. Billie smiles and agrees.

They then see a shooting star. Billie says they should make a wish. Jack tells Billie he doesn't believe in that stuff. Billie says she does and thinks her wish may come true. She tells Jack she will make his wish for him. Jack doesn't think she can do that but Billie insists as she thinks she knows what he wants. She then moves in for a kiss but Jack once again backs away at the last moment, saying the fire is going out and needs more wood. Billie is put off by being rejected by Jack again.

-At the Horton house, Victor and Maggie open the doors and tell Alice to take her time walking in. They both then see Julie on the floor, crying and looking at the shattered picture of her and Doug's first wedding. Maggie asks what happened. Julie tells Maggie she has lost Doug for good. Maggie comforts her as Alice makes her way in. Maggie tells Victor he can go and that she will call him later. She needs to help Julie right now. Victor understands and tells Alice, Julie, and Maggie to call him if they need anything. Maggie and Alice smile. Victor leaves as Maggie holds Julie in her arms as Alice gently strokes Julie's shoulder, both woman telling her that it's going to be ok.

-At the courthouse, Frankie tells Kim he will run her home as Bo and Hope tell the group they are going to go help in the search for Roman. Caroline wants to help but Bo thinks she is more needed at the hospital with Marlena, Carrie, and Belle. He promises to keep her posted. Kayla and Steve want to help too but Kayla then realizes she has a shift at the hospital. Steve says he can go look and tells Kayla that the people at the hospital are counting on her. She can't let them down. Bo thinks that it would be great if Steve helped and tells Steve to check out a few bars and local hangouts and to just keep in touch. Steve promises to do what he can.

Meanwhile, Forrest detects some tension and says that Abby and her loved ones don't need this right now. Abby tells Forrest to forget about Max and to just take her home. Forrest reluctantly agrees but warns Max to back off or he will have to deal with him. Max tells Forrest he is not Abby's keeper. Forrest begins to wheel Abby and coldly look at him as he wheels her away. Abby tells Max to just listen to Forrest because that is what she wants. Forrest wheels Abby out of the courthouse as Max worries that Abby may already have been dragged too far into Forrest's web. Outside, Forrest loads Abby into his rent-a-car and closes the door, putting her wheelchair in the trunk. As he walks around the car, he whispers:

Forrest: Max Brady is clearly a threat and I will not let him stand in the way of what I must do...no matter what I have to do.

The scene then freezes on Forrest's face and then fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

MAGGIE AND ALICE COMFORT JULIE...VICTOR LEARNS THE TRUTH ABOUT HIM AND PRINCESS GINA...PHILIP CONSIDERS LEAVING SALEM...WILL WORRIES ABOUT LUCAS!!

salemum7.png

-At the Horton House, Doug tells Julie to go ahead and begin.

Doug: Come on. Go on and give me your sob story again about how you did this for the good of your family and how you know what you did is wrong but you did it for the right reasons. Damn...it's remarkable. This is the way you used to be. Alice used to tell me how you were as a teen. Doing all these things and finding ways to justify them...what the hell happened to you?

Julie: Doug...I lied to you. I broke the law. Look...I know what I did. Maggie and I both do. We were lucky to get away with it legally but we both realize we need to make amends. We appreciate you helping to...

Doug: Get you off the hook? I did it for Alice and for the family. You two deserve what you would've gotten.

Julie: Your right. I still appreciate it.

Doug: All I asked of you was to stay out of it...to stay away from Victor and to not push the Maggie issue but you just couldn't do it. Instead, you lie to me and go off to find Victor to convince him to return...

Julie: Maggie had fallen off the wagon again!! She was in limbo, Doug! She needed closure, one way or the other.

Doug: And look what happened. You encourage Victor and he comes up with some messed up plan to push Maggie away by pretending to sleep with Nicole, causing Maggie to fall apart even more. The woman got drunk, torched her own restaurant, and nearly killed me and several others. I was in a coma for weeks, Julie!! You lied about it, damnit!! You helped Maggie and Victor cover it up!! You pinned it on Marlena!! I know the woman was nuts then but still.

Julie: We're both sorry. I'm sorry!! It was wrong but Maggie needed my help. Things got out of control but there was no way of knowing that things would turn up how they did.

Doug: With Victor, things always turn out ugly.

Julie: You know...that is the attitude that caused all this. If you had just put aside your jealousy...

Doug: Whoa...jealousy? I am not jealous of Victor. If this is about your past relationship with him, your wrong. I never felt threatened by him or your relationship. Never. I think the man is bad news. He is a criminal. I don't like you or Maggie getting involved with him.

Julie: You were once a con artist and I got involved with you? How quickly you forget...

Doug: That isn't the same. Victor brings violence with him. He brings danger and...he has this way going on with Stefano. I shouldn't even have to explain this. I can't believe your sticking up for him! I can't stand this. I'm out of here!!

Julie: I'm not doing that! Doug! Please!! We can talk. We can work this out! Please!! Don't do this! Don't walk out on me!!

An enraged Doug turns and begins to walk away but then stops and turns around to see Julie's eyes welling up with tears as she begs him to stay. Doug coldly looks at her and then turns around, shaking his head in shame, and then leaves. Upon the door slamming, a picture of Doug and Julie's wedding falls off the mantle and breaks just as Julie collapses on to the floor and breaks down. She looks at the shattered picture frame and the picture and says it's really over. She has lost Doug forever.

-At the courthouse, Shane enters and takes his seat next to Kimberly. Kim asks where he has been. Shane tells her that he just received an important phone call with big news. Kim asks if it's good news. Shane shakes his head and tells her to keep this quiet for now. Kim agrees. Shane tells her the ISA has suspended him pending an investigation for his involvement in the Alan situation. He will need to receive Salem sometime in the next month for London to attend a meeting and doesn't know when he will return or if he will. Kim is shocked and says he was not to blame for what happened with Alan. He was just trying to help Carrie. Shane says he needs to own up to it and will have to go. He tells Kim they will discuss the matter later as he will be leaving after the arraignment to help find Roman. A somber Kim nods.

Meanwhile, Frankie prepares Chelsea for the hearing. He tells her that going with the temporary insanity route is the best. Bo hopes that works, even though he doesn't like it but they don't have a choice. Hope tells Bo that she will just have to go away for awhile for counseling if it works. Bo and Hope tell Chelsea she will be fine just as Caroline comes in, saying she is happy to have made it. Bo tells her Abe and a team of men are out looking for Roman. Caroline thanks him and takes her seat with Victor, Maggie, Alice, Kim, Shane, Max, Steve, and Kayla. Just then, Salem's new DA, Patricia Cromwell, walks in.

Patricia: Well, if it's not the Brady's. Pillars of Salem society. Quite amusing, if you think about it?

Bo: Nice to meet you too, Ms. Cromwell.

Frankie: Careful, Bo. This woman makes Nancy Grace look like a saint. She is ferocious and she has it in for Chelsea.

Patricia: You bet I do!! You don't know how upset I am that the Maggie Horton and Julie Williams case got dropped. Two members of Salem's stories Horton family potentially going to prison? That would've been a major career coo for me! I guess I will just have to settle for a Brady brat, which is big enough in it's own right.

Steve: My, my. Aren't you just a ray of sunshine?

Patricia: Why, thank you! That means alot coming from a Pirates of the Caribbean wannabe like yourself. The cinemas is down the road, Sparrow.

Kayla: Don't talk to my husband that way!

Patricia: He's your husband? My apologies, Swiss Miss.

Judge Fitzpatrick then enters the room and everyone takes their places. The judge states the premise of the case and then gives way to Frankie and Patricia's opening statements. Patricia states that the people are seeking the maximum sentence of 25-30 years in prison. Judge Fitzpatrick then asks Chelsea how she pleads. Chelsea rises and says not guilty by reasons of insanity. Patricia rolls her eyes and says:

Patricia: This is double homicide!! Your honor, are we supposed to believe that this young woman, who has no history of psychiatric problems, just snapped for a few hours and recovered, never looking back?

Frankie: It happens all the time. Your honor, in my report, it outlines the many traumatic experiences Chelsea has been through, as well as what her family has been through. She ran down her own little brother...

Patricia: AH!! She has a record, your honor. That is my second point. Granted, she got off the hook when her stepmother, Hope Brady, dropped the charges, but the facts remain. The girl has a history of getting into trouble it seems and killing her little brother takes the cake.

Frankie: It was an accident that she horrible regrets. I urge you, your honor, to consider what Chelsea has been through. She was raped last May and nearly killed on an island that featured a volcano erupting. For weeks, she thought most of her family was dead but they were really on an island. Then, she gets home and is raped by two men at once. They beat her senseless the day those two men were killed. She was in a horrible state of mind. All you need is to look at the medical report. She fell apart and reverted to bad habits.

Patricia: Oh..how fun!! Please, tell us what these habits were?

Judge Fitzpatrick: Ms. Cromwell, tone it down or shut up! You were saying, Mr. Brady.

Frankie: I'm finished, your honor. You have everything you need. All I have left to say is that we request that Chelsea be released on bail until a court date can be set.

Patricia: She's flight risk, your honor. She's young and...

Frankie: I assure you. She won't run.

Patricia: Your honor...this is a double homicide!

Judge Fitzpatrick: I'm afraid ms. Cromwell is right. Regardless of the reasons for the crime, which we will not get into at this moment, I can not release Ms. Brady on bail for a case like this. My mind simply wouldn't be at ease and it would set a bad example for future cases of this nature. Due to the severity of the crime, bail is denied and a court date will be set ASAP. Good day!!

Everyone rises as the judge exits. The bailiff returns to get Chelsea. Frankie apologizes. Chelsea tells him it's ok. Patricia walks by and says:

Patricia: Round one...to me!! You may as well quit now, counselor. I haven't even dipped into my bag of tricks yet.

Frankie: You have a good one, Patricia.

Patricia: I will. Don't know about all of you, though. Good day!

Patricia leaves. Bo and Hope give Chelsea a hug and tell her she will be fine. She's strong. They also promise to update her on her mother and Jack. She thanks them. She asks them to find her grandma Kate too and tell her. Hope says she hasn't been around but they will inform her. Caroline, Kim, Shane, Alice, Maggie, and Kayla embrace her too. Steve does so as well and assures her she will be fine and he will do whatever it takes to help. Hope overhears, along with Kayla and wonders why Steve keepings acting like he is closer to Chelsea then he is. Victor tells Bo he will do the best he can to help in any way he can. Bo thanks him for that.

Abby gives Chelsea a hug from her wheelchair and tells her she will be praying for her. Forrest says that he has some contacts that may be able to help and he will use whatever means available to help Chelsea. Abby is impressed with him yet again and embraces him, saying he is doing enough already. Forrest says it's nothing as a worried Max looks on. Chelsea is worried and tells Abby to be careful. Abby says she is fine and tells Chelsea to keep praying for her dad and Billie. Max then embraces Chelsea, who whispers to him it's up to him now. He is the only one who can help Abby. She warns him there is no telling what Forrest is capable of. Max assures he knows as he looks at Forrest and Abby in an embrace.

Chelsea is then led off in handcuffs as everyone wishes her luck. Doug then shows up, apologizing for being late and asking what happened. Hope fills him in. Doug is horrified and embraces Hope and tells Bo he is sorry. Bo says they just have to have faith that it will all work out in the end. Doug tells Bo sometimes that doesn't happen but they do need to be optimistic. Hope asks if he is ok. Doug nods and tells his "princess" he is fine now. Maggie thinks Victor is wonderful for wanting to help out. Victor says that Chelsea is his granddaughter and he will do anything for family. Maggie tells him that that is why she loves him so much. They kiss as Doug approaches, causing his face to turn to one of rage.

Shane tells Kim he has to go and to tell the rest of the family he is leaving. Kim says she will and says she thinks Bo and Hope may be along to help in the search soon. Shane nods and says they will talk about his having to leave Salem later. He asks her again to keep it quiet. Kim says she will. Shane kisses her on the cheek and leaves as a heartbroken Kim tells herself she doesn't know where will be without Shane. Meanwhile, Shane exits the courthouse as a mysterious figure watches him and follows him out of the courthouse.

Back inside the courthouse, Kayla asks Steve why he is acting so strange in regards to this Chelsea thing. He is acting like she is more then a niece through marriage to him. Steve says he just wants to be there for all of them. He missed so much time and just wants to prove he will always be there for them, just in case they have forgotten. Kayla smiles and says they haven't as they kiss and she embraces him. Steve then recalls remembering, while with Orpheus on the ship, being with Hope at Maison Blanche and them getting close, kissing, and possibly even making love. He remembers what Orpheus told him regarding that and how he told him Chelsea is his daughter with Hope.

Kayla says she will be right back and goes over to Caroline. While alone, Steve decides he just can't sit around and think about what he learned. He has his life back and his past, with the exception of where he was while "dead" other then a few blurred memories. Steve vows to get the answers he needs to learn if it's all true about him and Hope and about Chelsea. He decides that the only way to do that...is to go to NEW ORLEANS!!

The scene then freezes on Steve's face and fades to black.

WEEK OF JULY 29, 2007 EDITION

AMAZING AUGUST SNEAK PREVIEW

"Things may be calming down but we certainly aren't slowing down," promises EP/HW Tim Lowery. "August was a huge month for us last year and is even bigger this year. It's the perfect time to set things up for Fall while also amazing fans with big twists and reveals. There will be lots of romance for our couples. It's also an action-packed month, even if ships aren't sinking."

Roman/Marlena: "Grief is supposed to bring a family together but, instead, it's tearing the Brady's apart. Roman's guilt is pulling him away from Marlena and is leaving him in a dark place. Meanwhile, Marlena puts her own recovery at risk to be there for her family and for Roman. Fans will be shocked where all this ends up by month's end."

Bo/Hope/Steve/Kayla: "Steve wants to find out if what Orpheus told him is for real so he heads to New Orleans to find out. He will make a ominous discovery there. Kayla and Hope are puzzled by Steve's recent behavior and expect Hope to get dragged into this more actively by month's end. This story is being built up to be huge in the Fall. Meanwhile, Bo tries to get his life back on track and strives to be there for his family. Look for Stephanie to return too for a little bit."

Max/Abby/Forrest/Chelsea: "Forrest's agenda is not clear. Is he good or bad? Why is he so fascinated with Abby? Chelsea is unable to help so Max is on his own. Stephanie will come for a visit and will be drawn into this too, along with Frankie and Greta. The Horton's will get involved but, ultimately, Max is the only one who can save Abby. However, the harder Max tries, the more distance he puts between Abby and himself. Look for Abby and Max to confront their relationship problems, as well."

Victor vs Stefano: "The war has been re-ignited and now what we have is both men seeing who acts first. Stefano will do something that is a little more subtle and, once Victor learns of his actions, the feud will really explode once again. Greta tries not to get involved but will be drawn into this in a HUGE way by month's end. Meanwhile, Philip has his own problems in trying to make sure his father doesn't learn of his actions. He will try to be the perfect son to Victor. Look for Victor to be puzzled by Philip's sudden change in behavior, only intensifying his suspicions of Philip."

Tony/Anna/Carrie: "We know Tony wants Anna back. We also know that Anna still loves Tony but there is alot of inner conflict there. Anna tries to reach out to her daughter but that's easier said then done. Tony will try to prove his love to Anna by assisting with Carrie and ends up messing things up even more, which could cost him Anna forever. Tony will also be dragged into a mystery as the summer comes to a close while Carrie will make a major life decision that will shock her loved ones."

Lexie/Abe/Celeste/Cassie: "Celeste has another vision that really shakes her up. She begins to believe that Lexie saw her and Abe's kiss on the ship. Abe and Celeste try to find out what is going on but Lexie is putting up this wall. Lexie and Cassie begin to battle for Stefano's attention and the right to control the Dimera empire. Lexie finds herself under the guidance of Tony, making Cassie jealous and causing tension between her and her father. Tony and Stefano will butt heads while Lexie and Cassie keep trying to one up each other. Look for one of the women to commit a shocking action by month's end."

Lucas/Will: "Lucas falls into a deep pit of despair without Sami. He shuts out his family and friends and begins to even ignore his responsibility to Will, who needs him now more then ever. He is in his own little world. Maggie will snap him out of it somewhat. Lucas will also begin to throw himself into his work, where he will be tossed into a very troubling situation that sets the stage for his story this Fall."

Victor/Maggie/Doug/Julie: "Maggie and Victor are in love and finally together. She promises to stay out of his business dealings and they begin to work out what issues they have to deal with. There will be a big romantic culmination for these two, as well as for many of our couples. Maggie tries to get her life back on track and will make a big purchase by month's end. Maggie and Victor, along with Alice and others, try to reunite Doug and Julie, but will they be able to? Sometimes love isn't enough and that may very well be the case for Doug and Julie."

Cal/Katherine: "Katherine gets a big job offer but keeps it from Cal, whose behavior is worrying her more and more. Cal will begin to take his place as head of the Toscano empire and we will have him deal with all he has learned and all that has happened. There will also be some resentment towards the Brady's, especially Roman, that will be explored. We will bring some closure to their story but it's not a closed book. They just need to be rested for awhile but other doors will be opened."

Kim/Shane: "Shane is forced to leave town. Kim decides to go with him but some big things happen before they leave. Expect some wonderful scenes of reconciliation between them and their loved ones. We are not closing the book on them either. We will leave fans of them in a nice place. They will be back."

Kate/Nicole: "Both women find themselves in the same boat. They both are being shunned by everyone in Salem. This is their comeuppance and it's long overdue. Kate will be forced to deal with her actions and will also be faced by her troublesome past. Meanwhile, Nicole must decide which path to choose. She is conflicted by who the real Nicole is and that will be her issue to deal with going forward. The actions of others toward her may very well define what she ultimately becomes."

Jack/Billie: "They are alive and on an island. They will rely on each other for survival, which will make the bond between them even stronger. This part of their story is very romantic and will solidify them as a couple. By month's end, they will be found and then there will be a HUGE twist in the story."

Orpheus: "He isn't gone. He'll be around. Like always, he is just waiting to strike."

New and Returning Faces: "There will be some returns for Eric and Sami's funeral during the week of 8/6. Stephanie is one of them and she will stick around for a bit. We will also introduce several new faces this month, as we previously announced. These new faces will really shake up the canvas as we go into Fall."

MORE CAST CUTS!!! 4 STARS OUT!!!

Kim_Shane_wed.jpgterri_sw_por_2610.jpgtaylor00_small.jpg

The cast cuts continue at SALEM LIVES. Four more stars are out and will see their characters last air before August is over while two more are also predicted to be axed and off the canvas by summer's end. The most recent castoffs are recurring players Charles Shaughnessy (Shane) and Patsy Pease (Kimberly) and longtime vet Josh Taylor (Cal) and his onscreen wife Terri Garber (Katherine), who only signed a one year contract that expires in November. "We've made no secret of the fact that we are cutting cast," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "We have had a large cast for over a year and some characters just need a rest. We are also bringing some new faces in to invigorate things. We just want to have characters on here who aren't just going to be side pieces we trot out once in awhile or just to say we use them. This is something we need to do and it's not over. We love all these actors. Terri was only signed for a year anyway and we planned on resting her and Cal upon the end of their current story. We feel this is what is best for Salem Lives right now."

Setsiders continue to report that even after the next two impending dismissals, the cuts aren't over. Sources hint more will come by year's end and early in 2008. For more on the next two upcoming cast cuts and on the big returns for the funeral of Eric and Sami Brady, check out next week's Insider.

FORMER GH ACTRESS JOINS SALEM LIVES

Kristina%20Wagner2.jpg

SALEM LIVES has snatched up another former GH vet. In a shocking move, Kristina Wagner has come on board to play the recurring role of Salem new DA Patricia Cromwell. The actress has been taping for weeks and first airs on July 30. However, Wagner somehow managed to work undetected for weeks. "We smuggled her in," laughs EP/HW Tim Lowery. "I will admit we were looking for a veteran actress and had others in mind but Kristina fits the role well. Patricia is somewhat like Nancy Grace. She is tough as nails and very annoying but still humorous. She has a sweet look to her, which is why I like her in this because she looks innocent but she is playing a character that isn't. The role is recurring and she will be a nice person to add some comic relief and to amp things up."

COMINGS AND GOINGS

COMING

Famke Janssen (Miranda Grey): As previously reported, the popular TV and film actress debuts in the recurring role of Shane's (Charles Shaughnessy) ISA agent friend on August 3.

Marcia Clark (Judge Fitzpatrick): Salem's favorite judge is back to preside over Chelsea's (Rachel Melvin) arraignment. She begins airing on July 30.

Kristina Wagner (DA Patricia Cromwell): The GH-alum debuts in the recurring role of Salem's new DA with an ax to grind on July 30.

GOING

Charles Shaughnessy and Patsy Pease (Shane Donovon and Kimberly Brady): The beloved veteran supercouple are out. Shaughnessy had been recurring since June 2006 while Pease had been recurring since December 2006. Look for them to last air in late August.

-At the courthouse, Victor tells Maggie and Julie that he found Doug and begged him to help and he did. He called the DA and made sure that no attempted murder charges were brought against Maggie. Since Chez Rouge was Maggie's, she is off the hook, along with Julie. Victor adds that Maggie will have to go to AA and counseling and will also be on a year's probation but that is it. Maggie and Julie are overjoyed and embrace. Alice embraces the both of them and tells them to always have faith that things will work out. She tells Julie to have faith in her and Doug's love. Julie nods and then asks Victor where Doug is. Victor tells he was leaving the pier the last time he saw him. Julie thanks him and tells Alice to tell everyone she left. Hope is angry with her anyway so it may be better she does leave. Alice says she will and Julie leaves.

The scene then shifts to Max, who is about to talk to Chelsea but sees Abby alone and realizes this is his chance to talk to her alone. He approaches Abby, telling her he needs to talk to her. Abby tells Max it's been awhile and asks what took him so long. He said hardly anything to her on the ship or the way home nor did he stop by last night to talk to her. Max says there is alot going on with his family and he can never seem to get her alone with her bodyguard by her side. Abby insists he isn't her bodyguard. He is a friend who has been wonderful to her. Forrest then returns. He sees that Abby is upset and asks if there is a problem. Max realizes he can't talk to Abby in front of Forrest and says there is no problem. He tells Abby they do need to talk though and says he will see her later. Abby then watches as Max walks away. Forrest asks if she is sure she is ok. Abby smiles and says she is. It's nothing she can't handle.

Meanwhile, Bo asks Chelsea if she is ok. She says she is the best she is going to be. Hope embraces her, telling her she will be fine. Steve echoes that sentiment, telling her he will help in any way he can. He then gives her a hug. Hope and Kayla both are puzzled by this. Steve sees their reactions and says she's family and he knows better then anyone a hug cam be very comforting. He then hugs both Hope and Kayla and asks Bo if he wants one too. Bo smiles and says no thanks. Kayla tells Steve they better go in and take their seats. As they leave, Bo sees Hope looking at Steve in a curious way and asks Hope if she is alright. Hope says she is just worried about Chelsea. Bo asks why she is looking at Steve. Hope tells Bo she wasn't. She was simply thinking about Billie and Jack and how much they are needed. Victor then approaches Bo, telling him that since things are settled with Maggie, he will do whatever he can to help Chelsea. Bo thanks him for that.

-On the island, Jack is holding on for dear life. He screams desperately for help, thinking his luck has run out. Just then, he hears what sounds like someone running nearby. A hand then appears and Jack is shocked to look up and see...BILLIE!!! Billie tells Jack to take her hand. He does so and she tries with all her might to pull him up. After a short struggle, she manages to get him up, knocking herself to the ground in the process. Once they both recover, Jack looks at Billie, whose blouse and jeans are torn and her face and arms are both scratched up, and runs into her arms. They share an emotional reunion in which Billie moves in to kiss Jack and is shocked when he backs away.

Jack then begins to ask about where she has been. Billie, still put off by Jack pulling away from kissing her, says that the last thing she remembers is them jumping ship right before it sank. Jack explains that he found her unconscious and gave her CPR. He got her back but the waves got higher and the storm worse. They were overcome by a wave and that is when they got separated. Jack adds that it got harder and harder to swim and he went under. That is all he remembers. Billie asks Jack if he is ok. Jack says he is fine but can't believe they somehow survived. Billie can't either. She tells Jack she woke up on the island and has been living off it and searching for inhabitants ever since. Jack tells her he has been doing the same until he nearly fell to his death in a pit.

Billie: Just how many times is that going to happen Jack?

Jack: I don't know. It's almost like some JERK is controlling me and making me look like a goofball by falling off cliffs and into pits. I have no explanation.

Billie says she is hungry and says they can look for food together and build a fire. Jack agrees and tells Billie it's good to have her back. The company is much needed. Billie agrees and hopes they find someone on the island to help or, at the very least, that they can send smoke signals or something to get some help. Jack says they will just have to see what they can do and tells her to keep the faith that they will find a way off. She smiles and says she will...as long as he is with her. He smiles as they both walk off on their quest.

-Back in Salem at University Hospital, Carrie is carrying Evan with her when Anna races up behind her, saying she has been calling her all night and wants to apologize for last night. She knows she came on strong but she loves her and just wants to help. Carrie asks Anna if she has been following her. Anna is hesitant to answer, leaving Carrie to assume she is right. Carrie is appalled by this and tells Anna to back off. She stopped considering her as her mother years ago and she won't accept her all of a sudden now. She tells Anna to get out of her way. She is here to see Marlena, someone who has been more of a mother to her then she ever will. Carrie walks off with Evan, leaving a heartbroken Anna behind.

Caroline walks up to Anna, having witnessed the scene while getting coffee, and tells Anna she is going about this all wrong. Caroline warns her she has been absent for so many years of Carrie's life and really doesn't have any excuses for it. Anna understands. Caroline is glad but tells Anna that she just can't pop in now and expect to act as a mother, especially with all Carrie has lost and what she is dealing with. She also reminds Anna of how she never once acknowledged Carrie's existence on the cruise ship or way home. She only hung around with Tony. Anna realizes she has made mistakes and wants to rectify them. She also adds that she has been afraid to talk to Carrie because of her being MIA in her life and it appears she is right.

Caroline tells her to take it slow and to back off a bit right now. Carrie needs time to heal and pushing hard right now will not help her or Anna. Anna agrees and thanks Caroline for the advice. Caroline smiles and tells Anna to be patient and, hopefully, the results she wants will come. Caroline walks off as Anna hopes that Caroline is right.

Meanwhile, Belle is with Marlena in her room. Marlena is terribly worried about Roman and says the whole family is hurting right now. They all should be together and not apart. Belle tells Marlena that she is sure daddy is fine. Marlena tells Belle it's hard to be positive these days and she has a feeling Roman is in a bad way. Carrie then shows up with Evan. Belle and Marlena both embrace her and ask how she is holding up. Carrie's eyes well up with tears as she says it's hard but she has to go on because of her son and her family. She adds that she is having Austin cremated privately tomorrow, per his wishes. She then says she will keep the ashes to remember him.

Marlena tells Carrie that Belle and Caroline are handling the arrangements for Eric and now Sami. She wants to help since it's for her children but with Roman missing right now and Barbara being on her case in regards to her treatment, her mind is elsewhere. She just can't believe they are gone. Marlena begins to break down as both Belle and Carrie comfort her. Caroline then arrives. Marlena asks if there has been any luck finding Roman. Caroline says she has called all over, including Roman's cell, and can't seem to find him. Marlena thinks she should call Bo or Abe and have them send some men out. There is no telling what Roman may do in the state he is in. Caroline agrees.

Back at the courthouse, Bo's cell rings. He answers it. It's Marlena. She tells Bo that Caroline has tried all over and Roman is nowhere to be found since he left the hospital last night. She knows he is at Chelsea's arraignment but asks if he or Abe can have some men go out to find him. She is really worried. Bo says he will have it taken care of and admits he is worried too. Marlena thanks him and just prays he is ok. Bo says he will make sure she is contacted if anything happens. Marlena thanks him and then hangs up. Bo motions to Abe and asks him if he can send some men out for Roman. He is MIA and the family is worried about him. Abe says he will do that and will go out and look himself since he has no reason to stay really. Bo thanks him as Abe leaves.

Marlena tells Belle, Carrie, and Caroline that it's being handled. She just prays nothing bad has happened. She can't take much more. Caroline says she is sure Roman is fine but they all just need to pray, just in case. Marlena, Belle, and Carrie agree. Marlena wonders if it's worth a shot to try calling Roman. Caroline says she has tried but calling Roman from a hospital phone may make him pick up if he isn't answering, given he doesn't know the number. Marlena decides to try and calls Roman's cell. The scene then shifts to a bar, where Roman is downing beer after beer. The bartender says he has been there for hours and says he is cutting him off. Roman's cell, which is laying on the bar rings. Roman doesn't pick it up. The bartender asks him what he is running from. Roman doesn't answer.

The bartender answers the phone and puts it in Roman's ear, telling him to answer it. Roman hears Marlena saying "Hello" and asking if anyone is there. Marlena hears Roman breathing and begs for an answer. Roman is silent at first but then finally answers, telling Marlena he can't talk now...to her or anyone else. He then hangs up, stunning Marlena. Marlena tells Caroline, Belle, and Carrie what happened and says she is worried now then before. At the bar, Roman pays for his drinks, gets up, and walks out as the bartender says:

Bartender: That man is a broken man. One that may never be whole again.

-At the Horton house, Julie walks in and sees Doug in front of the fireplace. He hears her come in. Julie says she is shocked that he is home and adds that Victor said he found him so she looked all over and something told her to check at home. Doug is silent. Julie tells Doug they have to talk. Doug turns and says that's fine. He is looking to get this over with anyway. Doug tells her to go ahead and start.

-Back at the courthouse, Max manages to get a moment with Chelsea and asks her if she knows anymore about Forrest. Chelsea tells Max she only knows what she told him. He is Forrest Alamain and he wants his identity kept a secret. One night he had nightmares and he seemed to want to stop someone or something and seemed very determined to go after someone or something. Frankie then emerges and tells Chelsea it's time. Max wishes her luck. Chelsea thanks him and wishes him luck with Abby. She tells him she thinks he is the only one who can help her. Chelsea goes into the courtroom with Frankie as Max watches Forrest wheel Abby into the courtroom, hoping he can find a way to help Abby before it's too late.

Meanwhile, Shane is about to wheel Kim into the courthouse when his cell rings. Shane asks Hope if she would wheel Kim in. Hope says she will. Shane is now alone and answers his phone. He is shocked by who it is and tells the person he understands. He then hangs up. Bo is about to enter the courtroom and sees Shane's face. He asks if he is ok. Shane says he is but he just got some big news. Bo asks if it's good. Shane tells Bo he would rather not talk about now. Bo says that's fine and tells him the arraignment is about to begin. They both enter the courtroom as Maggie comes back from the ladies room. Victor is waiting for her and tells her the arraignment is about to begin. Maggie says she knows and hopes things work out like they did for her. Victor does too and says he will do what he can to help.

Both Victor and Maggie fail to notice that someone is watching them from outside the courthouse. It's Orpheus, who smiles and says:

Orpheus: Their all back to worrying about such trifle matters but they have seen nothing yet. I'm going to rock all of their worlds.

Orpheus laughs sadistically as the scene freezes on his face and fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

WHAT IS SHANE'S BIG NEWS? WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH CHELSEA? IS ABBY REALLY IN DANGER FROM FORREST? COME BACK MONDAY TO FIND OUT!!

-At the Salem Inn, Katherine is getting out of the shower and finds Cal putting their breakfast tray out into the hallway. She walks up to him and kisses him, telling him last night was wonderful. Cal happily agrees and is sad that she has to go back to work at the hospital today. Katherine tells him they can have more fun later. They kiss as Katherine goes to get something in the bedroom. Cal picks up the newspaper and is shocked by what he reads. He wonders out loud how he didn't know about this. Katherine overhears him and asks what he is talking about. She takes the newspaper and is shocked to read the headline that says, "Samantha Brady Killed in Massive Explosion!" An angry Cal wonders why no one called in told him and then races out in a rage. Katherine asks him where he is going and quickly follows.

-At Sami's apartment, Will walks out of the bathroom and can hear the phone ringing. Lucas is staring a picture of Sami by the fireplace. Will realizes Lucas has not left that spot since they got home last night. He then answers the phone. It's Julie, who asks Will how he and his dad are doing. Will says it's hard and they both miss mom. Julie reminds Will that they are all there for them. Will says he knows and tells Julie he doesn't think he and dad will be coming down to the courthouse. Will tells Julie that Lucas is really upset and they just need to be alone. Julie understands and tells Will to call if he needs anything. Will tells Julie he will and they both say they love each other and hang up. After hanging up, Will goes over to Lucas and asks if he can get him anything. Lucas is silent and simply shakes his head no. A worried Will looks up to the sky and asks his uncles Austin and Eric and his mother to watch over them and help them through this.

-At University Hospital, Barbara walks into the room and tells Marlena her test results are in and, after a complete mental examination, she seems to be back in control of her psyche but she would like to put her through counseling and to put her in a prescription to help her relax. Marlena is silent and staring blankly ahead. Barbara asks if she heard her. Marlena snaps out of it and says she did. Barbara adds that she would like to have a session with her this afternoon. Marlena nods. Barbara takes her hand, telling Marlena she is sorry for her loss and is happy to see her more relaxed then she was last night. Marlena says she realized she needs to be strong for the rest of her children and family. She fights back tears, saying it's going to be so hard. Barbara knows she can do it and tells her to rest up and relax. She will see her later. Barbara leaves as Caroline and Belle enter. Marlena begins to cry, motioning for Belle to come over to her. Belle rushes into her arms and mother and daughter share a warm embrace as Caroline begins to cry watching the emotional scene in front of her.

-On the pier, Victor is making a call on his cell to Greta. Greta answers her phone at the courthouse and asks what is going on. Victor tells her he will have to cancel their meeting this morning. Greta tells him she figured he would with Maggie and Greta's arraignment going on. Victor asks if it would be ok if they met after the proceedings were through. Greta says that would be fine. Victor tells her he looks forward to it and will call her with the details. He hangs up. As Greta hangs up, Frankie arrives and asks why she was talking to Victor. Greta says he just needed help with something. Frankie admits he feels something has been going on with the two of them lately and asks if something is wrong. He then quickly apologizes, saying it's not his business. Greta tell him it's fine. There is nothing going on. Max then arrives and interrupts them, saying he needs to talk to his brother. Greta says it's no problem and walks off.

Frankie asks Max what is up. Max tells Frankie he really needs to speak with Chelsea about something important. Frankie tells him he will do what he can once she gets there. She is coming over with Abe, Bo, and Hope in a squad car. Max thanks him. He then turns to see Abby arrive with Forrest. Frankie asks Max why that man is always with Abby, saying it's beginning to worry him and he feels obligated to watch over her with Jen and Jack gone. Max tells him he isn't sure but he doesn't like them spending this much time together either. Meanwhile, Abby thanks Forrest for bringing her. She tells him her family went ahead as she changed her mind about going at the last minute. Forrest tells her it was no problem.

Julie helps Alice over to Abby, who is shocked to see her. Abby tells them she changed her mind. Alice asks if she will be sitting with them. Abby nods, asking if Forrest can join them. Alice says he may. Forrest thanks them but says he doesn't have to stay. Abby asks him too, saying he will be a comfort to her. Forrest gives in and says he will stay and will do whatever he can to help. Abby embraces him as a worried Julie and Alice look on.

-At the police station, Bo and Hope are with Chelsea, promising her that it will be alright. Bo embraces her, followed by Hope. Chelsea thanks them both. Abe walks in, telling them the squad car is ready to take them. Bo asks if Chelsea is ready. She says she is as ready as she will ever be. They all leave.

-Back on the pier, Victor gets off the phone with Nico and looks around, making sure he listened to the directions Nico gave him properly. He looks ahead and sees Doug looking at the water in front of him. Victor calls out to him. Doug turns and rolls his eyes, asking what he is doing there.

Victor: I need your help. I know you are upset...

Doug: Oh, look. Underworld crime lord Victor Kiriakis playing hero again. You make me sick!

Victor: I know you don't like me and I know you are upset with Maggie and Julie. I urge you to look past all that and to think about the big picture.

Doug: Don't tell me what to do. I am sick of you sticking your nose in this family's business. Just get away from me! Leave me alone! Leave us all alone!!

Victor: Doug...I can't do that. You are the only way to make sure Maggie and possibly even Julie doesn't go to jail. Please...think about everything that is involved here. Alice and Abby need Maggie and Julie around in that house. Abby is paralyzed and Alice needs help getting around. The Horton legacy...Tom...think about the Horton Foundation. It can't deal with bad PR right now,nor can the Horton family. Think about Lucas and Will. They need Maggie and Julie.

Doug: What's wrong with Lucas and Will?

Victor: Obviously, you didn't hear. Sami Brady was killed in an explosion last night by Orpheus.

Doug: My God! Has the world gone mad?

Victor: Doug...please!! Call the DA. Chez Rouge was Maggie's place so arson is not the issue but attempted murder is. Tell the DA you want no charges brought against Maggie or Julie. Ask for probation, counseling, AA, or whatever! The family name carries alot of weight. You can make a difference! Please...your the only hope!

Doug turns away and is silent. Victor begs him, telling Doug he knows what is the right thing to do no matter what he is feeling for him, Maggie, and Julie right now. Doug turns around and tells Victor to just stay away from him and leave him alone. He then walks off. Victor prepares to follow but stops, wondering what he is going to do now.

-Back at the hospital, Belle asks Marlena how she is doing. Marlena says she is better. She has to be. They all need each other right now. Marlena asks Caroline if she has seen Roman since last night. Caroline shakes her head, saying she hasn't heard from him. Marlena begins to worry. Both Caroline and Belle assure he is fine. He is a smart guy and won't be stupid, even in his current state. Caroline says he is probably in a bar somewhere. Marlena tells Caroline that is what she is afraid of. Caroline tells Marlena she will make some calls and see if she can find him. Caroline leaves as Marlena tells Belle to give her a hug as holding her makes everything feel so much better. Belle lovingly embraces her.

Meanwhile, Caroline walks to the nurses station and is stopped by an angry Cal, who shoved the newspaper in Caroline's face and asks why he wasn't told about Sami. Katherine races up, asking what Cal is doing. Cal tells her to stay out of it. Caroline apologizes to Cal, saying it's been a very traumatizing time and it slipped everyone's mind. Cal finds it hard to believe it slipped everyone's mind as that is alot of people. Caroline and Katherine are both stunned by his harshness and asks what is wrong.

Cal admits that he is just upset about Sami and he just feels left out lately, thinking it's because he isn't Roman anymore. He just wants to be told things and to be invited to the hospital with the family when there is trouble. Chelsea is in jail and he would like to help and he just wants to be involved. Caroline smiles and embraces him, apologizing for what happened. She tells him he will always be a Brady no matter what and she will do better to make him feel that way. She will also make sure the rest of the family stays on top of that too. Cal thanks her and apologizes. Caroline tells him it's been upsetting lately for all. She says she must get going to make some calls but asks him to stay around and visit Marlena. She would like that. Cal nods. Caroline embraces both him and Katherine and leaves. Cal's smiling face then turns serious as he turns and begins to walk away. Katherine says she thought he was going to see Marlena as he has been wanting to. Cal tells her he doesn't want to right now and walks off. Katherine is both worried and stunned by his behavior and wonders what is going on.

-At the courthouse, Steve and Kayla are now with Frankie and Max. Shane comes in wheeling Kim just as Bo, Hope, and Abe arrive with Chelsea. Maggie is soon brought in as well while the media hounds the group. Bo tries to keep the media away and orders several officers to restrain the media. Julie and Alice tell Maggie to have faith. Maggie says she is trying. Just then, Victor arrives, telling Maggie she doesn't have to try anymore or worry. He smiles as he announces her nightmare is over in front of everyone that has assembled outside the courtroom.

Max tries to make his way over to Chelsea but can't manage to. He then looks over to see Forrest wheeling Abby into the courtroom. Abby tells Forrest she wishes her father and Billie were here. Chelsea and her really need them right now. Forrest promises her he will do what he can to find them. Abby thanks him as he embraces her. The scene then shifts to...

An island, where we see what appears to be a man's footsteps. The camera pans up to reveal the man to be Jack. His pants are torn off from the ankle down and his shirt is shredded. His face is scratched up and bruises and he is looking for food when he takes another step forward and falls into a pit covered by shrubs. Jack hangs on for dear life, looking down into what appears to be a bottomless pit. He screams out for help as the scene freezes on his face and then fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

IF JACK IS ALIVE...WHERE IS BILLIE? HAS VICTOR SAVED MAGGIE AND JULE? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CHELSEA? FIND OUT TOMORROW!!

-At the Salem police station, Victor and Maggie are left alone by a guard. The guard tells Victor he has 5 minutes. Victor nods. Maggie comments on how her being booked took forever. She is now in a holding cell and is worried about her fate. Victor promises her that he will get her out of this. He already has an idea. He just needs to find Doug ASAP. Maggie asks what he is up to and begs Victor not to get into trouble. Victor smiles and says he has everything under control. He kisses her on the cheek and promises her it will all be ok very soon. She will be free and then they can make some wonderful memories to help forget about all the bad ones from the last year. Maggie smiles, thanking him for everything and hoping he is right.

Meanwhile, Julie rejoins Alice outside Abe's office. She tells her she just talked to Abby and there is no sign of Doug. He should be home by now and they know he isn't with them at the station. Alice urges her not to worry but Julie can't help but worry, given the way she and Doug left things. Bo, Hope, Abe, and Shane arrive. Kim wheels over. Steve and Kayla also join the group. Alice asks if the news is true about Sami. Bo nods and says it is. Julie asks about Lucas and Will. Hope says they are in bad shape and will need all of their support. Alice says they will give it to them. Kayla asks if the rest of the family knows. Hope nods and says that Roman just told Marlena. Everyone is devastated. Kayla is horrified and is comforted by Steve. Bo asks if Chelsea has been booked yet. Kim says that she just asked a guard and she is on her way to a holding cell. Bo goes to see her and to find Frankie. Hope goes with him.

Steve also moves to follow Bo and Hope when Kayla asks where he is going. Steve says he is going with Bo and Hope. Hope turns around and reminds Steve they are going to see Chelsea and he has no reason to. Steve realizes he has slipped up and says he is simply concerned about Chelsea. She is a Brady and he is married to one so he wants to see if he can help somehow. Kayla and Hope thank him for that but tell him there is nothing he can do right now. Steve tells them both to let them know if there is anything he can do. Kayla embraces him, saying she is so lucky to have such a caring man as her husband. Hope notices an expression of relief on Steve's face and is puzzled about what she just saw and heard. She then walks off to join Bo.

-In the hall nearby, Max is waiting around for Frankie to see if he can get in to see Chelsea. He needs to speak to her about Forrest and she what else she knows. He is worried about Abby based on what Chelsea told him. Meanwhile, at the Horton house, Forrest brings some tea out to Abby. He makes note of the rest of her family being out late. Abby says they have alot to deal with and they may be with Lucas because of Sami's death. Forrest thinks what happened to her was horrible, especially so soon after Eric and Austin's deaths. Abby agrees. She tells Forrest they have all been through alot and he has helped her so much in the last few months. Forest takes her hand and says that she has helped him immensely as well and he promises to help aid in her recovery. Abby smiles.

-At the University Hospital chapel, Anna begs Carrie not to push her away. She is her mother. An emotional Carrie holds Evan and pats him on the back to comfort him as she gets up.

Carrie: Oh, NOW you want to be my mother. Where have you been for over 20 years? You didn't say a damn word to me on the ship or when we first got back. What took you so long? Too busy with Tony? I just lost my husband and my brother and sister and you want to come in here and play mommy dearest after missing every single event in my life over the last 20 years? Weddings, health problems, divorces...do you know how many times I needed you? Do you know how many times I tried looking for you? When I did track you down, your secretary or whoever I talked to would say you were busy or couldn't break away from a client. Do you know how that made me feel?

Anna: I'm not excusing my behavior. You are going through hell and I just want to be there for you.

Carrie: Why now? Because you were kidnapped and just happened to end up back in Salem so now you want to strike up a relationship with me? Ah...I get it. You must have some mother/daughter line of clothes coming out and you need me to promote it. That would be so you, wouldn't it? Only doing what is right for you.

Anna: Carrie...

Carrie: You know...I guess I am like you. I mean, I gave up Evan for what I thought were the right reasons but I guess I also did it because it was the easy way out. I've cheated on Austin in the past and I did that because being with Mike felt right. He was there for me and I needed him...God, I am like you. Doing what is right by me but twisting it to make me sound selfless.

Anna: Carrie, your nothing like me. Your...

Carrie: You know what? GET OUT!! GET OUT BEFORE I CALL SECURITY!!

Anna: Carrie, please!! Don't shut me out!!

Carrie: I already did. A long time ago. I gave up on you ever being a mother to me years ago. It's just too bad I wasted so many years making excuses for you and thinking you would come back someday soon. It's too late now. GET OUT!!

Anna puts her head down in shame and leaves. Outside the chapel, Anna breaks down in tears, saying she is sorry repeatedly. In the chapel, Carrie sits back down with Evan and falls apart. As tears stream down her face and Evan begins to cry, she promises him it's all going to be alright.

-Back at the police station, Victor is walking down the hallway when he encounters Nico. Victor asks if there is any word on Orpheus. Nico shakes his head, saying he has been MIA since the explosion. Victor shakes his head and says that Orpheus must be stopped. He has claimed too many lives already. Victor tells Nico to have all the men they can afford out looking for him and also for Doug Williams. He tells Nico he is going out to aid in the search for Doug too. He is the key to getting Maggie off the hook.

Julie joins them, saying she couldn't help overhearing. She thanks Victor for going out to find Doug. Abby said he isn't at the Horton House and he isn't with them at the station. Victor tells Julie he and his men will find him and then, hopefully, she and Maggie will be off the hook for what happened. Julie asks what he has in mind. Victor says he will explain later but time is precious. Victor takes off with Nico as Julie yells good luck to them.

Meanwhile, Bo and Hope visit Chelsea in her holding cell. Hope reminds one of the guards that Chelsea's left arm is still lacking in mobility and urges him to remember that. The guard says he will and will tell the other guards. Chelsea comments on how booking took forever and asks if there is news on her mother or Jack. Bo says there isn't and asks if she heard about Sami. Chelsea says she heard the news from an officer. It's horrible. Bo says Orpheus needs to be stopped for screwing with all their lives. He also promises Chelsea they will do everything they can to get her out. Frankie is working on things right now. Chelsea thanks Bo and tells him to thank everyone else.

Hope then takes Chelsea's hand and promises her it's all going to be alright. Hope and Chelsea share a knowing look, one that is comforting to Chelsea. Both women smile at each other. Bo tells Chelsea she is not allowed visitors right now but they have to go. Her and Maggie's arraignment is tomorrow so they will be back first thing. Chelsea says ok as Bo gives her a kiss, followed by Hope. They both leave as Chelsea looks around her jail cell, praying that she gets out of this somehow.

-Outside Abe's officer, Max is still waiting for Frankie. Frankie then appears and Max asks how Chelsea is doing. Frankie says her and Maggie's arraignment is tomorrow and he is doing the best he can. Max asks if she can have visitors as he really needs to talk to her. Frankie says she can't so he will have to talk to her tomorrow at the courthouse. Max admits this is an emergency and may not be able to wait. Frankie asks what is going on.

Max thinks about telling Frankie the truth but recalls Chelsea saying Abby could be in danger and tells Frankie that he has it taken care of. He just needs to talk to Chelsea ASAP. Frankie reminds him he can come to him with anything. Max says he knows. Frankie tells Max he has to handle some things and wishes him a good night. Max and him embrace as he leaves and Max wishes him the same. Max worries about Forrest being with Abby right now and admits that the more time she spends with him, the greater the chance of her never getting out of whatever web he is cooking up. Max decides that he needs to talk to Abby alone ASAP.

Meanwhile, at the Horton house, Abby tells Forrest she appreciates his help but doubts he knows anyone that can help her recover. She has seen many specialists and there has been so much research done on her case. Forrest urges her to just let him try. Abby smiles and thanks him for everything. Forrest says it's nothing and thanks her for being there for him. Abby tells him he can get going as her family should be home soon. She would like some time alone anyway so she can pray for her father. Forrest promises to help in the search. Abby tells him he has done enough but Forrest insists.

Abby asks Forrest where he is staying. He tells her he booked a room at the Salem Inn and he will call her with the number in the morning. He kisses her on the cheek and tells her good night. She tells him to have a good night too. He asks her again if she is sure he wants him to go as he will stay. Abby smiles and nods.

Forrest leaves as Abby looks at a picture of her father and mother, asking her mother to look over all of them and to bring her father home safe. Meanwhile, Forrest watches Abby from outside the window and smiles as the scene fades to black.

-At the Penthouse Grille, Tony and Anna have just finished their dinner. Tony makes note of how quiet Anna has been since they arrived and asks what is wrong. Anna admits that she is still having a hard time thinking of a way to help Carrie. She has suffered so much and she needs her mother right now but she hasn't been there for her in so long. Anna tells Tony she is afraid that Carrie won't accept comfort or help from her. Tony takes Anna's hand gently and reminds her to just act like a mother while also acting like herself. She should never be someone she's not as Carrie wouldn't want that either. As long as she is loving and shows that she cares, there will be no problem. He is sure of it. Anna smiles and thanks Tony for his words of advice yet again.

Some tango-type music begins to play and Tony asks Anna to dance, suggesting that it may help take her mind off her problems. Anna's face turns to one of disgust as she reminds Tony about what she told him on the cruise ship and his promise to not push her into a relationship with him. Tony says he simply was asking her to dance. Anna tells Tony she knows what he is trying to do. She is vulnerable and he knows it. He is taken advantage of her emotional state and thinks that the cruise ship and their near-death experience will help bring her back into his desperately waiting arms. Tony takes offense to Anna's accusation. Anna says she could care less what he thinks and tosses her wine in his face, gets up, and walks out. Tony gives chase but loses sight of her, wondering when Anna is going to stop lying to him...and herself.

-At the explosion site, a devastated Lucas has no idea what to say to Will as Bo, Hope, Kate, Nicole, Shane, Abe, and Belle look on. Lucas tells Will he shouldn't be here. Belle apologizes, saying that they saw the news report and wanted to know what was going on. Will wanted to come and she tried to convince him to stay behind but he wouldn't give in. Hope tells Belle it's fine and tells Lucas that Will and him really should talk alone. Hope advises him to be strong for his son. Lucas nods. The others leave them be as Lucas walks up to a confused and terrified Will, who refuses to believe that his mother is gone. Lucas puts his arm around Lucas and sits him down on a street corner.

Lucas: Look...I know it's hard to...

Will: No! She's not gone. I don't care what you or anyone else saw.

Lucas: Will, I saw her in the building. There was no way she got out. She told me she loved me and then the whole place went up. There was no time for an escape or for anything else. She's...(fighting back tears) gone. Your mother is...(turns away, wiping a tear from his eye)

Will: No!! I need her!! I can't...I can't....

Lucas (takes Will in hi arms and embraces him): I know, Will. I know.

Hope sees the heartbreaking scene between Will and Lucas and tells Bo that this is really horrible. Bo agrees. Abe and Shane come over, saying it's time to get the media and everyone else away from the scene. Bo nods in agreement. Hope tells Lucas that they need to clear the scene and it may be best for him and Will to go. Belle offers to drive them given the state they are in. Lucas thanks her and tells Will to come on. He then catches sight of Kate and Nicole standing nearby and asks what the hell they are doing there. Kate explains that they saw the news report. Lucas asks if they wanted to see for themselves so they can celebrate. Kate denies that but Lucas reminds her of her more then decade long hatred of Sami.

A drunk Nicole admits she came down to celebrate and asks if there is a liquor store around. An appalled Hope interjects and orders both women to leave. All they are doing is upsetting everyone even further. Kate apologizes and tells Lucas that she may not have liked Sami but she knows he is hurting and she just wants to be there for him and Will. Lucas gets up in her face and tells her to just stay the hell out of his life. Will and him don't need her and don''t ever want to see her face again. Lucas and Will leave as a heartbroken Kate looks on. Nicole then whispers in Kate's ear that she won't be getting any mother's day cards this year. Kate gives her a cold look as Nicole then smiles before walking off. Kate wipes tears from her eyes and then walks off as Hope tells Bo that Kate has alot of nerve. Bo shakes his head, saying that women will never change.

-At University Hospital, Caroline tracks Carrie down to the chapel and tells her she has been looking for her. Carrie is in tears, holding Evan close. She tells Caroline she just wants to be alone and thanks her for her concern. Caroline nods and tells Carrie that she and the rest of the family are there for her and to call or come find her if she needs anything. Carrie smiles and thanks her grandmother. Caroline kisses Carrie on the cheek and leaves. She then thinks about Sami and breaks down in tears outside the hospital chapel as Carrie continues to fall apart inside the chapel.

Meanwhile, Marlena begs Roman to tell her what is going on. Roman gets up and walks away. Marlena orders him not to go. If something is wrong, she has a right to know. She can tell he is upset and asks if it's someone in the family or the children. She asks if this has something to do with Eric. Roman, with his back still turned, doesn't answer. Marlena demands him to say something. Roman turns around, realizing he has no choice, and sits back down next to Marlena. He takes her hand and tells her this is the hardest thing he has ever had to do and he didn't think he would be doing it so soon after doing it only days earlier. Marlena is confused, asking what he is talking about. Roman tells her he has bad news. Marlena is horrified, saying the family can't deal with more bad news.

Roman tells Marlena she needs to be strong. They both do. Marlena begins to panic and, recalling Roman's comment a moment earlier about having to do something again, asks what he is getting at.

Roman: Marlena...there was an accident.

Marlena: Oh...oh...that's what you meant by doing this again. One of our children is hurt. Belle or Sami? Or is it Carrie? Brady...oops...I meant Jonathan? Who?

Roman: Marlena...

Marlena: Is it bad? Oh, please...it can't be bad. God wouldn't do that to us. Not so soon after...

Roman (fighting back tears): That is what is making this hard. Eric...Marlena...please just let me get this out.

Marlena: Go ahead. Please, tell me.

Roman: Sami saw Orpheus and went after him. Lucas and I...along with Bo, Hope, Shane...we went after them. I called in some help but Orpheus managed to get a hold of her.

Marlena: So, he kidnapped her? My God!

Roman: No! Let me finish. Orpheus took her to the Chancellor building. You know, the glass building down...

Marlena: Yes, I know of it. Did she fall? Did she get cut by glass? Did...

Roman: Marlena, please!! Let me do this! We arrived there and saw her in the building. Orpheus then played his traditional mind games and...and...(eyes welling up with tears)

Marlena: WHAT?! TELL ME!!

Roman: She told Lucas she loved him...and...the place went up.

Marlena: What do you mean...it went up?

Roman: Orpheus detonated a bomb and the building blew up with Sami in it...

Marlena: NO!! NO!! There must be some...she had to get out...she must have...

Roman: Mar...we checked. There is no way. There wasn't enough time. We saw her in there. She's gone. Our little is...gone. (beginning to cry)

Marlena: No!! I don't...

Roman (grabbing Marlena and looking into her eyes): Look at me!! Look at me!! She's gone. Our...beautiful Samantha...she's gone.

Marlena begins to tear up and then breaks down in tears, hysterically beating on Roman's chest in disbelief.

Marlena (crying): NO!!! NOT AFTER ERIC!! NOT BOTH OF THEM!! NO!!!

Barbara then walks in, asking what is going on and noting she heard screaming. Roman tells her she had to tell Marlena. Barbara says she heard what happened and apologizes for their loss but tells Roman he did wrong. Marlena is emotionally exhausted and needed rest and no stress. This may set her recovery back. Roman insists she had to know. Both Roman and Barbara try to calm Marlena, who is still hysterical. Barbara gives her a sedative and Marlena gradually calms down, whispering Sami's name before slowly closing her eyes.

Barbara ushers Roman outside the room and tells him Marlena will be out for the rest of the night and she will examine her in the morning. She lectures Roman again about telling Marlena the bad news and urges him to listen to her next time or Marlena may never completely recover. Roman understands. He just thinks this was for the best as he didn't want her to learn the truth on her own. Barbara understands and apologizes to him again for his loss. She tells him she will see him in the morning and leaves. Roman then looks into Marlena's room and then walks off in anger and disgust.

-At a bar on the west side of Salem, Nicole hears another news report on Sami and raises her glass, saying may she burn in hell. Nicole then looks at a picture of Eric and raises her glass, toasting to him and their relationship and to all the good times. She then wipes the tears from her eyes and asks for another martini. Meanwhile, Kate has returned to her suite at the Salem Inn and is looking at a picture of herself with Billie, Philip, Lucas, and Austin. She lovingly caresses it before breaking down in tears on the couch.

-Lucas and Will return to Sami's apartment and look around, expecting Sami to pop out from her room or the kitchen to ask where they have been. Both men silently walk further into the apartment. Lucas looks at a picture of him and Sami on the mantle and, as his eyes well with tears, Will walks up behind him and tells his father they will get through this together and promises to be there for him. Lucas turns around and embraces his son, telling him he is right. They both need each other...more then ever. Will then begins to cry, telling Lucas he misses mom already. Lucas, as tears stream down his face, tells Will he does too and probably won't ever stop.

-Back at University Hospital, Anna arrives outside the hospital chapel and bumps into Caroline. She explains that a nurse saw her there and asks if she has seen Carrie. Caroline tells her she is insider but she wants to be alone. Anna insists she wants to be there for her daughter, saying she could use her mother right now. Caroline's not sure it's a good time for Anna to try to reconnect with her daughter after all these years. Anna smiles and says it may turn out to be the best time as this is a situation where a daughter will need her mother's love more then ever. Caroline says she can't stop her and wishes her luck. Anna thanks her.

Anna enters the chapel and silently walks up behind Carrie. She taps her on the shoulder. Carrie is rocking Evan and turns around to see Anna. Anna looks at Carrie's tear soaked face and tells her she is there to help her through this difficult time. Carrie wipes the tears from her eyes and turns back around, telling her to go away and to stop pretending like she cares. Anna insists she does care. Carrie once again orders Anna to get out or she will have security throw her out. Anna is stunned.

Meanwhile, Roman is now in an alley outside the hospital. He flashes back to seeing Eric die and to seeing Sami die. He then throws a trash can in frustration and breaks down in tears.

Roman: WHY?! DAMNIT!! WHY?! WHY DIDN'T YOU SPARE THEM AND TAKE ME!! I FAILED THEM!! ALL OF THEM!!! I FAILED THEM!!

Roman collapses to his knees, crying out in anguish as the scene fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

WILL VICTOR SAVE MAGGIE? WILL CARRIE ACCEPT ANNA IN HER LIFE? WHAT WILL MAX DO ABOUT FORREST? FIND OUT TOMORROW!!

-At the former Chancellor building, emergency personnel and police are running amok, trying to investigate and survey the explosion site. Shane returns to Bo and Hope, telling them he can't find Roman anywhere. Bo says that considering they saw Roman toss his badge, it would seem he is disgusted with himself and the system, much like he was. Hope tells Bo that his brother and family need him now. Bo insists he knows but isn't sure if he can get past what Roman and Kim did. Shane asks where Lucas is. Hope Looks around and sees Lucas all alone and walks over to him. Bo advises Shane to get the media and the helicopters above out of the area. If anyone they love sees it, it will be very upsetting. Shane agrees and walks off.

Hope sits down by Lucas and tells him to remember his family is there for him. Lucas is silent. Hope asks if he wants her to call Kate. Lucas shakes his head. Hope tells Lucas that she can call Belle to make sure Will doesn't see the news. Lucas is still silent. Hope gets up and tells Bo she fears he may be in shock. Lucas then opens up and tells Hope that Sami is gone. She really is gone. He then breaks down in tears. Hope sits back down and takes him in her arms, telling him to let it all out, as Bo watches.

-At University Hospital, Will and Belle are still in the waiting room with Carrie. Will tells Belle she needs to tell Carrie about Sami and Orpheus. Belle doesn't think Carrie can handle it. A nurse then comes running in, telling Belle that her grandmother needs her. Belle races out. Carrie overhears and races out too, taking Evan in her arms. They arrive outside Marlena's room and find a distraught Caroline, who directs their attention to the news report of Sami's death. They are all stunned. Will insists it can't be true. Belle agrees and says she needs to get down there. Will wants to go too as his father will need him. Belle doesn't like the idea but Will refuses to let up so she agrees, reluctantly. Carrie wants to go to but Caroline thinks taking Evan out is a bad idea and urges Carrie to stay back. They have no idea what is going on yet. Carrie agrees, realizing it's what is best for her son.

Belle and Will then leave, telling Caroline and Carrie they will update them with what is going on. Caroline prays it's a mistake or that Sami survived somehow. Their family can't take another tragedy. Carrie agrees, saying she has lost enough and can't lose her sister too. She then holds Evan close as Caroline embraces the both of them.

-At the Salem Inn, Kate is at the bar, staring at a picture of Austin. She remarks at how it's all her fault. A drunk Nicole is on her way back from the ladies room and appears to be wiping tears from her eyes when she overhears Kate. Nicole agrees that it is all Kate's fault as she had the power to put a stop to what was happening. Kate reminds Nicole this whole thing started with her scheme to keep Evan. Nicole nearly falls over as reminds Kate that she didn't even know Evan was Carrie's until later on. Kate counters with the fact that Nicole still schemed and plotted to keep Evan even after knowing and helped Orpheus and Alan, both of whom were criminals. Nicole is sick of the argument and tells Kate that her interference led to all this.

Kate: I realize I have made mistakes. I don't need you reminding me.

Nicole: What an understatement. You have put your nose in your children's lives for years and it's well past time it came back to bite you in your ass. Philip wants nothing to do with you and Lucas and Will even changed their last name to avoid being associated with you. Austin is dead now and Billie may very well be too.

Kate: You bitch!! (grabs Nicole's arms) Don't you say that! Billie could still be alive!

Nicole: Not arguing the rest, huh? Tell me, Kate. You have focused so much attention on Lucas and Sami...are you other kids jealous? When will mommy dearest let her rapidly shrinking flock grow up and make their own decisions?

Kate: You should've died on that ship. Not Eric and Austin.

Nicole: Yeah..well, we can't all be so lucky. What's done is done. Live with it. Just remember you have alot more to live with then me. I loved Eric and cared for Austin but Austin was your child and so was Billie. That's quite a ways different then the connections I had. You helped the events along that killed your own children. Isn't that a heartwarming thought!

Kate: Bitch!!

Kate hauls back and slaps Nicole and a brawl ensues. The bartender tries to stop the two women, who are on the ground fighting, but fails. Just then, both women overhear the news of Sami's death during a news break and stop fighting. They pick themselves off the ground while listening to the breaking news of the explosion. They then look each other, stunned. Kate then pays for her drinks and leaves. Shortly after, an inebriated Nicole does the same.

-At the police station, Celeste arrives with Theo to see Abe. Alice, Kim, Kayla, Steve, and Julie are all waiting around as Frankie is still with Maggie and Chelsea, who are still being booked and remark on how big and handsome Theo has gotten. Julie tells Celeste that Victor has gone to check in with Frankie and the DA to see what is happening. Abe is in his office when Celeste enters, saying he had to leave so fast that she thought she would bring Theo to him as he has yet to reunite with his son. Abe shares an emotional reunion with his boy and thanks Celeste. Celeste says she has been calling Alexandra but she won't answer. Abe notes that Lexie said not to call her until morning and that she wants to be alone. Celeste tells Abe she is worried about her and that they need to learn what is going on. Abe promises they will. Celeste also insists they talk about what happened on the ship. Abe reminds Celeste that he thinks the issue should be dropped. It was a mistake in the heat of the moment and nothing more.

They then hear screams in agony outside and race out of his office. Abe and Celeste join the others and hear the breaking news of Sami's death. Abe yells out why no one told him about this. An officer says it just happened and everything is crazy right now. Abe says he needs to get out to the scene and tells everyone to stay there. They will be kept informed as news comes available. He leaves a room of stunned people behind. Steve comforts Kayla, who is worried about Roman. Kim is also worried about Roman and the rest of the family. Julie tells Alice she is worried about Lucas given his history with alcohol. They all saw what happened to Maggie this past year. Alice agrees and hopes that he is strong and resists. He needs to know that they are there for him.

-Back at the hospital, Caroline and Carrie are outside Marlena's room, both in shock over what is happening. Carrie is now rocking Evan, who has begun to cry. Caroline remarks on how babies always seem to know when bad things are going on. Carrie nods. They are both stunned when Roman comes walking out of the elevator. Both women can see how distraught he is. Caroline begs Roman to tell her it's not true or some sort of misunderstanding. Roman shakes his head in disgust, filling them both in on how they saw Sami in the glass building and then the explosion happened. Roman tearfully admits there is no way she could've made it out. Caroline begins to tremble in shock and breaks down. She embraces Roman. Carrie turns away and breaks down in tears, holding Evan tightly. She then walks off. Roman is about to go after her but Caroline stops him, telling him to give her time. She's been through alot.

Roman nods, saying he has something he has to do anyway. He asks Caroline to go to the Nurses Station and have someone call Barbara. They may need her here. Caroline is confused. Roman says he has to tell Marlena before she finds out in some other way. It's his responsibility and Barbara may be needed. Caroline thinks it's a bad idea and reminds Roman she needs to rest and doesn't need stress. Roman lashes out at Caroline and tells her to just do what he asks. He then apologizes. Caroline says it's fine. She will have Barbara called. Roman thanks her and then enters Marlena's room. He sits down by her, saying he will stay until she wakes up. He kisses her hand and is stunned when she slowly stirs. She opens her eyes, asking where she is.

Roman explains she is at the hospital and reminds her of what happened with the ship and the aftermath. Marlena recalls all that and the fact she has been in and out of consciousness. She admits being tired but feels like she is really back in control. Roman is pleased and says that Barbara will examine her in the morning. Marlena nods and mentions how they have so much to deal with. She tears up as she mentions Austin's death and Eric's. Roman begins to break down but fights off the tears, telling Marlena they will work through it. He then mentions he has to tell her something. Marlena sits up a bit and can see Roman is upset and asks what's wrong. Roman is getting choked up as Marlena asks him what has happened now. Roman can't get any words out and doesn't answer as a confused and worried Marlena looks on.

-Back at the explosion site, Abe has now arrived and tells Shane, Bo, and Hope that everything was burned to nothing in the explosion. Bo doesn't know how his family will deal with this. Hope comforts him. Lucas then comes over, still in shock, and asks if there is anyway Sami could've made it out. Kate then arrives with Nicole a short distance behind. They both watch what is going on in front of them. Hope puts her arm around Lucas while Bo looks him in the eye and tells him he would like to say there is hope but there isn't. They all saw it happen. They saw her in there and then the explosion. Hope reminds Lucas that Sami even told him that she loved him. Lucas tears up and can't believe this is happening...that Sami's really gone.

Belle then arrives with Will, just as Lucas shouts out that Sami is really dead.

Will: NO!! It can't be true!!! Not mom!! No!!!

Lucas then turns and faces a horrified Will as Hope, Bo, Shane, Abe, Belle, Kate, and Nicole all look on while the scene freezes on Will's face and fades to black.

WEEK OF JULY 22, 2007 EDITION

SALEM LIVES CAST SHAKEUP CONTINUES!!! SWEENEY OUT?!

Alison_Sweeney.jpg

Has SL's Sweeney run out of LIVES?

Last week, the Insider provided a summary of the casting bloodbath that has hit SALEM LIVES in recent weeks. Setsiders reported last week that more cuts were on their way and it looks like they were not kidding. In addition to the exits of Jensen Ackles (Eric), Paul Kersey (Alan), Patrick Muldoon (Austin), Charles Cioffi (Ernesto), and Roscoe Born (James), comes word that as many as 6 more cast members could be out by the end of September. On top of that, fans were stunned after yesterday's episode where one of the popular characters on Salem Lives, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) was killed off in an explosion set by the diabolical Orpheus (George Delhoyo). Now, we go to EP/HW TIm Lowery for more on these cuts and the answer to the big question of the weekend...Is Sami Brady really dead?

Interviewer (I): Ok...let's get right into it. It's been a stunning couple of weeks and we will talk more about the stories at a later date but, in regards to the casting, the big question is based off of what happened in yesterday's episode. Is Sami Brady really dead? Could you really get rid of Ali Sweeney?

Tim Lowery (TL): Getting rid of characters can be difficult, especially one of Sami's caliber. She is a fantastic character and very dynamic. It's also difficult to lose one of our best actresses but sometimes a story just jumps off the page and me and Patrick (L. Ewing, co-EP/HW) feel that opportunity is too good to pass up. We know there will be an uproar but we want that. It builds investment in the story and Sami's death spawns story for all of her loved ones and also adds to the character of Orpheus and his aura. We were concerned about overkill, especially with the decision we already made to kill off Eric. Losing both of Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Roman's (Drake Hogestyn) children is a major risk but we just feel this is the way to go. We just hope the fans stick with us. We didn't take this decision lightly and this has been in the works for months. We feel it will provide a great reward and that the story will be riveting. We aren't afraid to take risks. We have proven that. It's all about the characters and story with us. We don't just do things to shock. It has to be right by the characters and history. If that is the case and it provides good drama, we go with it.

I: So, she is dead?

TL: Well, Ali is also doing "The Biggest Loser" so we knew we would have to write her out a bit so she would've been on and off even if she were still around. Whatever the case, Sami is gone. She won't be removed from the cast list yet as Sami will appear to loved ones in visions and dreams so she will still be around in spirit for awhile but she is gone. No joke. This isn't like last summer when we went back and remade Captive Island. The deaths we have had over the last month or so are real. Yes, we never did find Alan's body so that is a loose string that could come into play down the line but there won't be widespread resurrections.

I: I was just about to ask if this was heading down the route of another Captive Island-like plot, given there have been so many deaths and exits?

TL: I can see why one would think that after last summer but we won't do that ever again. I was the only writer at that time and I felt I needed to remake that story. I felt strongly that it needed to be done to get things to where the canvas could be mine to work with and I think that is how it came out. Another thing is the next wave of exits upcoming won't be deaths or big shocks. They will be more generic. They will certainly be emotional but we aren't going the route of a serial killer or anything like that.

I: More cuts are to come. What can you tell us about that?

TL: Well, what is to come is more like trimming the fat. Some of those exiting next will be people who we just feel like we won't be using much for awhile and would like to bring back. There will probably be some announcements next week on those. After that next wave, there will be some more exits down the road which will be much bigger but we are far away from that. We just feel the need to trim the cast. We have worked with a big cast for over a year and it's hard to have a well-balanced show with that many around. Plus, little things fall through the cracks. I still feel the need to apologize to my co-EP/HW for the way James' grief was handled. I dropped the ball big time on that. It's also important to note that we always planned to write out Eric, Ernesto, Alan, and James. They were always meant to be short-term and Eric stayed on far longer then we thought. Jensen just couldn't do it anymore and we were pleased to have kept him around for as long as we did.

I: So, Eric would've stayed on had Jensen not had a problem?

TL: I don't know. We may have just had him leave town. My idea to kill him came from the fact that he told me he couldn't do it anymore and then I just opted to kill him and my co-EP/HW agreed so we went with it. I was actually thinking of killing him during his brain tumor story in December but I wanted the holidays to be happy for the most part and stayed clear of it.

I: What about Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Billie (Julie Pinson)? Where are they...or are they dead?

TL: My lips are sealed (laughs). All I will say is Julie's contract is up next month so draw whatever conclusion you like...

I: Are you saying SHE is gone?

TL: Not saying anything. The fans just need to wait and see (laughs).

I: Other then these cast cuts, can you give us some teasers of what is coming?

TL: Well, not really. We are trying to cut back. All I will say is Sami's death leads to tremendous story for Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and Will (Jeremy Sumpter), as well as the rest of Sami's loved ones. Roman is going down a path no one would expect and Marlena's attempts to put her life back together will be made more difficult by the news of Sami's death. We also have some funerals coming up, obviously, and perhaps some guests associated with those. Those will be announced next week.

I: Sounds good. We will speak more in-depth about stories and such as the weeks go on. Thanks for joining us.

TL: My pleasure. Have a good one!

-Kate sits alone in her suite, looking at old pictures of Austin. She sips champagne as she cries over her lost child and the huge mistakes she made. She thinks to herself that Austin still turned out to be a splendid man, despite everything she did to control his life. And now.....he’s dead and she will never have the chance to tell him how sorry she is for everything that she did....

And how proud she truly is of him. Kate sits on her bed and presses the picture of Austin against her face as she sobs uncontrollably........alone.

-Meanwhile, downstairs in the bar at the Salem Inn, Nicole sits in a corner seat and goes through her third martini as she consoles herself. All she can do is mull over Eric and Austin’s last words to her. Nicole begins to think that she is the way she is and that nothing will change her. All she cares about is herself and, if anyone gets in her way.......family, friends, even the man she loved.......they do so at their own risk.

Nicole then looks up at the door and sees Kate walk into the bar. Nicole stares coldly at Kate as Kate slowly turns around and spots Nicole sitting in a corner by herself. Kate slowly walks over and places a martini that she just ordered on the table. Kate then leans in and, with tears still streaming down her face, quietly tells Nicole that they are exactly where they should be and have no one to blame but themselves. Only this time.....

Two of their dearest loved ones paid for their selfishness.....with their lives. Kate then slowly stands back up and walks off, leaving a sad Nicole to admit to her self....

Nicole: We sure did, I guess. We sure did.

A distraught Nicole takes the martini and sips on it quietly.

-At the hospital, Roman sits in Marlena’s room, holding her hand. Caroline quietly walks in and tries to convince him that he has been there since they all came home. He needs his rest just like Marlena needs hers. Roman tells Caroline that he just wants to make sure that his lady is back before he tells her the news about Eric. Roman is scared that it may make her revert back into her Samantha personality. Caroline tells him that she has him and she has her own strength to get her through. It’s what got Caroline through when she thought that Roman was dead all those years ago.

Roman sees what Caroline is saying and Caroline volunteers to sit with Marlena so Roman can go home and get some sleep. Roman tells her that he doesn’t know how he can close his eyes and not see his dead son but he guesses he’ll give it a try. Caroline gives Roman a hug only a mother can and Roman looks at Marlena once more before kissing her on the forehead and walking out of her room.

Caroline sits down next to an unconscious Marlena and hopes that this may be the end of all of their tragedy.

Outside Marlena's room, Sami’s look of shock and horror has made Orpheus panic and he starts to run for the elevators. Sami starts to sprint after him but Orpheus reaches the elevators and jumps into a elevator as the door starts to close. He then smiles evilly and blows a kiss at Sami at the door shuts right in front of her.

Sami bangs on the door, causing a small scene, as Will comes running around the corner towards her. When he reaches her, her tries to calm her down and have her tell him what’s wrong. Sami calms herself long enough to tell Will that she just saw Orpheus get on one of these elevators. Will is shocked, saying that he truly has a death wish after everything he’s done. Sami tells Will to not waste one second and for him to go find Lucas and Roman and tell them that she just saw Orpheus and that she is taking off after him.

Will asks her what does she think she can do to him. Sami tells him she hopes she can get close enough to snap his neck for what he has done. Then she demands that Will take off and, after he runs down the hall, a very determined Sami turns and jumps into an open elevator as the door closes in front of her.

Will rounds the corner and sees both Roman and Lucas resting on some couches in the waiting area. They both jump up and want to know what has Will all fired up. Will tells them that Sami saw Orpheus and took off after him. Lucas looks at Roman as pure hatred comes across Roman’s face. Roman pulls his gun out and then radios in for back-up as Belle walks into the waiting area and asks what’s wrong. Roman tells Will to stay with Belle as he takes off after Orpheus, with Lucas in tow. Both men sprint down the hallway as Belle and Will look on. Belle rests her head on Will’s chest as he hopes that his family will finally stop Orpheus......

Once and for all.

-At the police station, Bo and Hope get word that Roman called in for backup. An officer tells them it had something to do with Orpheus. Abe tells them both to go, along with Shane, as Maggie and Chelsea are still being booked. He needs to deal with some stuff at the station and will be along when he can. Victor insists they take Nico to help. Victor tells Nico to check in with word. Bo says whatever and rushes Hope and Nico along with him. Alice, Julie, and Kim wish they luck. Kim begs Shane to be careful. He promises he will and races off after Bo. Hope, and Nico.

-Will and Belle walk into another waiting area and find Carrie sitting there talking to Evan. They stand at the door as she tells Evan how sorry she is that he will never know his father. Austin was such a good man and she hopes that Evan will not hate her for being the cause of his death. Belle wipes the tears from her eyes as she and Will walk into the room and sit on either side of Carrie. Will begins to tell Carrie about Orpheus but Belle shakes her head no. She feels that Carrie is dealing with enough right now and doesn’t need the added burden. They just sit and comfort Carrie as she rocks Evan to sleep.

-Sami pulls a gun from her purse as she heads down in the elevator but then she starts coughing. She clutches her throat and can’t seem to breath. She staggers over to the elevator controls and starts pushing the emergency button but the elevator continues it downward descent. Sami looks up as the floors roll by and she continues to try and activate the emergency release so she can get out of there.

-When the elevator reaches the garage level, the door opens up to reveal an unconscious Sami lying on the floor as Orpheus walks into the elevator and stands over her. He looks grimly at her as he orders some of his men to take her away. Two men pick Sami up and walk over to a black van and place her inside. Orpheus looks around and then goes to take his seat inside the van. Just as he instructs his man to drive off, Roman and Lucas, who are now joined by Nico, Bo, and Hope, reach the garage area. Orpheus looks into the rear view mirror and smiles as the van takes off into the night.

Roman, Shane, Bo and Lucas jump into a waiting squad car as Hope and Nico jump into one of Victor’s private cars and they all take off after Orpheus. The chase is dangerous through the city streets of Salem as the three vehicles drive at speeds of up to 90 mph. As the van turns a corner, it barely misses hitting a parked car. While it slows down a bit, this gives Hope a chance to pull out her gun, point it out the window, and fire several shots at the speeding van. Nico looks at Hope and is very impressed, to which Hope looks back at Nico and smiles.

In the other car, Bo takes his wife’s lead and draws his gun as well, firing several more shots at the van. Orpheus orders his men to return fire and now there is a shootout on the dimly lit streets of Salem. The van turns off and Roman seems to have lost it for a brief moment until he spots it fly around the corner. He picks up the chase again as Hope and Nico follow closely behind.

The chase finally ends up in front of the Chancellor Building. The van is sitting quietly as both cars pull up and slam on the breaks. Lucas and Shane jump out, followed by Bo and Roman. Hope and Nico jump out and run up to the group as they all look around for Orpheus. Guns drawn, the group splits up and goes around searching the outside of the building. When Lucas walks up to the almost completely glass structure, he tries the door, but it is locked. He looks inside and begins to turn around but something catches his eye. He focuses in on a person standing in the middle of the hallway.

To his utter fear and shock......it is his beloved Sami, who is crying uncontrollably. Lucas tries the door and calls out to the others that he has found Sami. They all race around the building to see Sami standing completely still inside the glass building. Bo, Shane, and Roman look around and find a small bench . They both grab it and pick it up, getting ready to throw it through the window. But, just as they sling the bench backwards, a voice from over a loud speaker interrupts them, telling them that.....

Orpheus: I wouldn’t do that if I were you two. I don’t think you have the insurance to pay Katherine Chancellor for any new doors, do you?

The group turns and look around frantically and then Roman spots another black van sitting on the opposite side of the street. He then sees Orpheus get out of the van, slowly walk around the front of it....

And show the group a sight that makes their blood run arctic cold.

Orpheus holds in his hand the detonator to an explosive device. He stands near the driver side of the van as he instructs the group......

Orpheus: Ok, ladies and gentlemen. Time to play Orpheus Says. Orpheus says........GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THE BUILDING!!

The group look at each other and then silently walk slowly away from the building. Lucas walks backwards, looking at Sami and mouthing to her that she will be alright. A distraught Sami clutches her fist and shakes her head slowly. Lucas does not take is eyes off of her as the group make it back to their cars.

Then, Orpheus speaks, saying....

Orpheus: Good. Good. Nice to see that you all listen. Apparently my show aboard the ship wasn’t enough. Time for you to learn another lesson.

Roman: (Yelling across the street) Really? And what is that?

Orpheus: To remember just how dangerous I really am.

The events then happen in slow motion. Orpheus smiles evilly and looks towards the building. The group look at him and then tragically realize that Orpheus has wired the entire building to explode. Lucas turns and looks at Sami and then starts to run with all of his strength and speed towards the building. Bo sees Lucas take off and follows after him, along with Shane. Roman turns and looks at Orpheus and runs towards him, while Hope aims her gun and fires at Orpheus.

The van door opens up and Orpheus jumps inside. Lucas looks inside the building to see Sami mouth three simple words to him.......

I Love You.

As Orpheus dodges Hope’s shot, he looks dead at Roman as Roman leaps towards the van......

And Orpheus pushes the button on the detonator.

A red button on 1,000 pounds of explosives detonates as one as the glass building explodes, sending Lucas, Shane and Bo flying backwards. The force of the blast knocks Hope over the back of the car and Roman stands and watches in shock and agony as his precious daughter Samantha is killed in a powerful blast that sends glass and steel everywhere.

Orpheus closes the van door and the van starts up, with Roman reacting on pure instinct. As the van pulls off, Roman grabs hold of the driver side door and jumps on the side of the van, trying to grab the steering wheel and push the van into the river. The driver pulls his gun and bashes Roman again and again until he lets go, almost falling to the street before regaining his balance and running after it. When he realizes that he can’t catch the van, he stops in the middle of the street and slowly turns, with tears flowing down his face.

Roman starts walking back towards the building as Bo and Shane run over and stop Lucas from entering the burning remnants. Nico and Hope run up and try to hold back a hysterically sobbing and almost uncontrollable Lucas. Bo holds him from behind and, with tears coming down his face, tells Lucas that....

Bo: I know! I know what you’re going through! Oh God, Lucas.........I know.

All Lucas can do is bury his face in Bo’s chest as he cries out........

Lucas: WHY?! WHY HER?! HE DIDN’T HAVE TO KILL HER!!!!

Shane watches as Hope wipes tears away from her face as Nico turns and looks at Roman, who can only stand in the street and watch the remains of the building burn. Roman then flashes back to another tragic moment in his life and now feels that life does go in circles.

First Marlena.........now his darling Samantha.

As Bo holds Lucas and Hope and Nico look on, Roman turns and starts to walk away while Shane calls in for some help. The burning building is in the background as Roman takes out his gun......and drops it on the ground. He then takes out his badge and, without even looking at it.......

Flings it into the Salem River. He slowly walks up the dimly lit street, saying to himself only one thing. With tears streaming down his face, he makes a promise.......

Roman: Orpheus......no matter where you are.......or where you go........I’ll find you. And when I do.....

May Almighty GOD have mercy on your soul!

The scene then pans upward as we see Roman walking into the night by himself as Bo and the others comfort Lucas and the scene slowly fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

WORD OF SAMI'S DEMISE SPREADS. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ROMAN? WHAT WILL THE BRADY FAMILY DO WHEN THEY LEARN OF THIS LATEST TRAGEDY? COME BACK MONDAY TO FIND OUT!!

-Alice and Kim are at Salem airport, waiting for the arrival of their loved ones. Just then, Hope comes running out of the gate. Alice and Kim are overjoyed and Hope embraces them both at the same time. Other family members follow suit and begin to embrace Alice and Kim as well. Kim then sees Shane and wheels over to him, telling him she was so worried when she heard about the ship going down. Shane reminds her it takes more then a sinking ship to take him out. Kim embraces him and says she doesn't know what she would've done if she lost him. Julie and Maggie both embrace Alice. Julie says there is something she should know. Alice says they can all catch up at home. Doug comes over and greets Alice. Alice tells Doug she is glad he is ok. Doug nods before coldly looking at Julie and saying he has to go. Doug walks off as Alice asks what that was about. Julie is silent.

Philip is worried about Victor learning of his involvement with Orpheus since he already questioned him. He is determined to make sure Victor never learns of what he did. Frankie approaches Greta and offers to give her a ride home. She thanks him. Victor comes over and says he knows it's been a difficult time for all so he won't press for her to meet him tonight but asks if she would come over in the morning. They really need to talk. Frankie doesn't understand. Greta tells him it's business. Greta tells Victor that would be fine and tells him to have a good day. Victor smiles as she returns a smile before leaving with Frankie.

Chelsea is worried about Billie. Bo and Hope both promise they will update her as the situation warrants. Kayla comforts Steve over Jack. Steve tells Kayla he is fine and that Jack is fine too. He can feel it. Steve then looks over and sees Chelsea and is reminded of learning that she is his daughter with Hope from Orpheus. Kayla sees that something is upsetting Steve and asks if he is ok. Steve says he is fine...as long as he has her. They kiss.

Meanwhile, Max sees Forrest/Fred with Abby and wonders when the guy will ever leave her alone. Forrest thanks Abby again for keeping her promise to him about not revealing his identity. Abby says it's ok. He saved her life and has been there for her. It's the least she can do. Forrest asks if she has a place to stay with her father missing. Abby explains that she is going to stay with her great-grandma, Alice, who lives with her aunt Julie and uncle Doug. Forrest is glad she is being taken of and asks if she will need any further medical assistance. Abby says she has a physical therapist but had made little progress prior to being kidnapped. She and her doctors fear that she may never recover. Forrest explains he knows many specialists and could make some calls. Abby smiles and says that many specialists were called. Forrest begs her to let him try. It's the least he can do for her kindness toward him. Abby explains he has done more for her, including saving her life. Forrest asks her to let him try to play hero again. She smiles and embraces him, as a concerned Max looks on. Forrest then offers to see her home. Abby says she would like that and they both go to tell Alice he is taking her home while a worried Max says he needs to talk to Chelsea.

Roman tells Caroline he is going to get Marlena to the hospital so Barbara can examine her. Caroline says she will come too. Sami, Lucas, Belle, and Will also wish to come. Carrie asks to come as well. She just doesn't think she can go home right now. Sami takes her hand and says she understands and promises they will get through this. Carrie then sees Nicole staring at her nearby. Carrie holds Evan close as Nicole turns away and leaves. The EMT's wheel Marlena's gurney away as Roman and the others follow. Meanwhile, Kate stands alone nearby. She looks at a picture of Austin and wipes the tears from her eyes before walking off. Cal watches Marlena being wheeled away with her family and seems upset. Katherine comes over and asks if he is ready to go. Cal nods and says he is. He has alot to deal with anyway. They leave.

Abe approaches Lexie and asks her where she is going to be staying. Lexie says she just called for a room at the Salem Inn. Stefano comes over and begs Lexie to come with him. Lexie tells Stefano she wants nothing more to do with him and tells Abe she doesn't want to be around him or her mother. She adds that she would like to see Theo but needs to be alone right now. She tells Abe she will call in the morning and he can bring him to her at the Salem Inn. Abe agrees. Lexie walks off. Abe asks Stefano what is going on with Lexie. Stefano smiles and suggests that Abe and Celeste examine their own behavior and perhaps they will figure it out. Stefano then leaves as Abe wonders what he is talking about.

Celeste tells Abe they need to go get Theo. It's been so long since he has seen them. Abe agrees but adds that he is worried about Lexie. Celeste is too and also tells Abe that they need to discuss what happened on the ship. Abe tells Celeste to drop that. It's over and done with. He then tells her to come on so they can get Theo and walks off. While alone, Celeste fears that it's not over and done with and that it's only just beginning.

Anna sees Carrie leave with Marlena and the others. Tony tells Anna that she can't be afraid to comfort her own daughter. Anna says it's been so many years that she just doesn't know what to do and say. Tony tells her to just relax and be herself. That is all she can do. She loves Carrie and she just has to show that to her. Anna smiles. Tony suggests they get a room at the Salem Inn and get some dinner. Anna says she is fine with dinner but would like separate rooms. Tony seems a bit put off and reluctantly agrees, not wanting to force the issue. Tony asks Cassie if she would like to join them. Cassie says she is going home with grandfather. Tony nods and says he will call her later. Tony and Anna leave as Stefano joins Cassie. Cassie asks Stefano if he is ready to go home. Stefano says he is and asks for the pleasure of his lovely granddaughter to join him for dinner. She smiles and agrees as they leave.

Max approaches Chelsea and fills her in on what he just saw from Forrest/Fred and Abby. Max admits that he is scared for Abby as she is getting in real deep. Chelsea says she feels the same, especially with her so vulnerable. Max tells Chelsea that Abby hasn't even spoken with him once since she was found on the ship. She is too sucked in to "Fred" and whatever his issues are. Chelsea says she can't do this anymore, recalling her promise to Abby to follow Forrest's wishes, and tells Max that there is no "Fred Allen" and admits that man is the presumed dead Forrest Alamain, Lawrence Alamain's brother. Max explains that Forrest is dead but Chelsea counters with the fact that he told her he was Forrest. She begs Max not to tell anyone as Abby's life could be in danger, as well as many others. Max thinks she is right, especially based on what he knows of the Alamain's and Lawrence.

Just then, several officers show up. Bo and Shane ask what is going on. One of the officers says they have a warrant to arrest Maggie Horton and Chelsea Brady. Everyone is stunned. The officer asks Bo if he knows the women and tells him to point them out. Bo asks what the meaning of this is. Another officer explains that someone called in a tip and left evidence that proves Chelsea is the one that killed the two men that raped her and that Maggie set fire to Chez Rouge, who own restaurant. A third officer explains that a gun with Chelsea's fingerprints was sent to the station, missing the exact number of bullets that were used in the murder, and a video tape of Maggie confessing to Julie Williams about her role in the fire was sent in as well. The officer warns Julie charges could be pending against her and Victor Kiriakis as well.

The officers insist Bo point them out and apologize for putting him in this spot. Bo realizes he has no choice and points them out. Maggie and Chelsea are cuffed and dragged away. Victor promises Maggie he will help her fight this. Bo and Hope promise Chelsea the same. Kim calls Frankie and tells him they need him at the station. Steve watches Chelsea dragged off and can't believe this is happening to his daughter. Kayla asks what he just said but Steve says he can't believe this is happening to them so soon after returning. Max is upset as Chelsea is the one person who could help him with Forrest. Hope asks Bo who he thinks sent the evidence. Bo says it could only be two people...Stefano or Orpheus.

Julie fills Alice in on what is happening and asks her if she is ashamed. Alice explains she will not judge her or Maggie but thinks they have to make amends and make up for their wrongful actions. Alice tells Julie she forgives them and isn't concerned about bad press or anything like that. Family comes first and everyone is human and capable of mistakes. Julie agrees to fix things and embraces her, thanking her for forgiving her and Maggie. She only hopes Doug will do the same. Victor thinks they all have to get to the station to handle this. Bo says it could be awhile as both Maggie and Chelsea need to be processed but they need to get down there to see how bad this is. Hope agrees and says they should get down there ASAP. Bo and Hope then lead everyone off.

-At the hospital, Barbara tells Roman that Marlena is still sedated and does need her rest. She will do a full examination in the morning. Roman thanks her. Barbara leaves. Roman takes Marlena's hand and prays that she has really returned to him. The family needs her and so does he as he can't deal with all this without her.

Outside Marlena's room, Caroline returns and tells Lucas, Sami, Belle, and Will that Carrie wanted time alone with Evan so she took them to a waiting room. She is still not doing too good. Sami thinks that is to be expected with the circumstances. Caroline offers to go get everyone coffee. Belle says she will come along to help. As they leave, Sami wonders if she should check on Carrie. Lucas tells her to relax. He will go just in case her dad needs her nearby for something. Sami thanks him and kisses him as he leaves. Just as Sami is about to say something to Will, a surgeon walking nearby catches her eye. She stares at his face and wonders where she has seen his face. The surgeon mask lowers a bit as he turns toward Sami. The two of them lock eyes. Sami can now get a better glimpse of the man and is shocked by what she sees.

Sami: Oh my...no...it can't be.

Will asks if Sami is ok. Sami doesn't answer and looks at the man again. The man's eyes seem to turn to ones of worry.

Sami: Oh my...ORPHEUS?!

The scene then freezes on a split-screen of Sami and a disguised Orpheus and then fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

WILL ORPHEUS GET AWAY? PLUS, DON'T MISS TOMORROW'S STUNNING, JAW-DROPPING ENDING THAT WILL LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS!!!

salemum7.png

It is a new day and the cruise ship survivors (with the exception of the still missing Jack and Billie) are now at a airport as Victor is awaiting word on a favor he has called in to help them all get home to Salem...

-Victor’s cell phone rings. He answers it and, after a brief pause, breaths a sigh of relief. He smiles, as Maggie looks on, and he says into the phone....

Victor: It’s good to hear your voice once again.

Bobby Ewing (Salem Lives Guest Star Patrick Duffy): I’m just glad that most of you all made it off that ship alive. Question though, Victor.

Victor: Go ahead.

Bobby: How did Orpheus get a cruise ship into the middle of Illinois?

Victor: (After a brief pause) Don’t ask. Did you inform J.R. of what is going on?

Bobby: Yeah. We’re trying to take care of some things here before we head to Salem. Someone has been trying a hostile takeover of Ewing Oil and the person is using Westar Oil as a front company.

Victor: Stefano, you think?

Bobby: Either him or your boy, Orpheus. After what you told me before you all disappeared, this man sounds very, very dangerous.

Victor: He is. But he has made several mistakes. One of which was to screw with my family.

Bobby: Well, you can have Orpheus......for now. My brother and I have a score to settle with Stefano. After what that bastard did to our daddy.....

Victor: There is that famous Ewing temper of yours, again. Patience, my friend. Together, we’ll get to the bottom of all of this.

Bobby: Exactly. Victor. I’m sending the Ewing Jet to pick you all up and take you all back to Salem. J.R. and I will follow in due time, as soon as we get this takeover bid under control.

Victor: Will do. Take care of yourself and your family, my friend. We’ll talk soon.

Bobby: Yes we will. Take care.

Bobby and Victor hang up the phone as Maggie asks Victor if that was THE Bobby Ewing. Victor confirms that it was indeed. Maggie tells Victor that he wasn’t lying one bit when he said he had very powerful friends. Victor looks at Maggie and tells her that the Ewing Brothers are just the tip of the iceberg. He’s about to call in some very serious markers and there are some people who are going to pay.........

And in the only fashion he knows how. A very determined Victor looks over at Stefano and walks off as Maggie stares at both men with fear and dread in her heart.

Maggie then looks over at Julie, who watching Doug from a distance. Nico stops Maggie and tells her that Julie is not in the best state of mine. Maggie nods, saying she knows. Maggie approaches Julie, telling her that it's all going to be ok. Doug loves her and he will understand. Julie turns around and says she doesn't think he will. They both really screwed up and Julie admits Maggie was right all along. They should've told the truth. Maggie says it's no time for regrets. They just need to try to make amends and hope for the best. Julie and Maggie embrace as Doug watches from nearby.

Meanwhile, Victor, who is informing everyone that the Ewing jet is on its way, sees Philip and approaches him. Victor asks how he is doing. Philip says the best that can be expected. He is just grateful that he is ok. Victor thanks him for that but tells Philip there is something on his mind that is bothering him. He asks Philip what happened to him after he collapsed and woke up in the cruise ship boiler room. Victor knows he was drugged but does not know what happened to Philip and recalls that Philip did not appear drugged. Philip insists he was and that he passed out shortly after. A few hours later, he received a phone call telling him that his father was behind held against his will and he was directed to go to the cruise ship alone.

Victor nods and then asks how Philip knew he was in the boiler room when he came to rescue him. Philip says he simply overheard some guards talking about a prisoner. Victor recalls Greta finding out much the same way. Philip asks if there is a problem. Victor smiles and says it's nothing to concern himself with. It's something he can handle. Victor then walks off as a panicked Philip looks on.

Frankie asks Greta how she is holding up. She says she is fine, given all that has happened. Frankie asks if something went down between her and Victor as she has been a little off since they found them. Greta says she is fine and there is nothing to worry about.

Abe tells Celeste he is worried about Lexie. She was so angry with Stefano and he thought they finally had her back. Now, she is distant and seems angry with him. Celeste says she noticed that and thinks she is also angry at her. Abe notes that he has approached Lexie about what may be going on but she just walks off. Celeste says they will just have to wait for her to open up...hopefully sooner, rather then later.

Tony is with Anna. Anna looks at Carrie and tells Tony she wants to comfort her but she doesn't know what to do and say. Tony tells her to just do what comes natural and to speak from the heart. Tony goes over to talk to Lexie. Anna is about to go over to Carrie when Sami, Lucas, Will, and Belle walk over to her, asking her if she and Evan are ok. Anna loses the nerve and walks off. Tony asks Lexie if she is ok. Lexie tells Tony she thinks he may be the only one who understands what she is going through. She embraces him. Tony asks her what is going on with her. Lexie says that now isn't the time. She will tell him when they get home.

Carrie tells Sami, Lucas, Will, and Belle that Evan is fine for being through so much. Belle tells her that Marlena has been checked out and is exhausted mentally. She has been sedated. Carrie nods. Sami promises Carrie that she has people there for her to help and it will get better. Carrie thanks her but doubts it will ever get better. She then sees Nicole glaring at her. Sami turns and gives Nicole a cold look. Nicole turns away. Sami tells Carrie not to worry about Nicole. She is no longer a threat.

Kate walks by a silent and stoic Nicole. The two exchange cold glances as Kate tells Nicole no one is going to feel bad for her. Nicole says the same to Kate and reminds Kate they have something in common. They both helped set off a chain of events that got someone they love killed. Kate's eyes fill with tears as she walks off. Nicole fights back tears and then says that the truth hurts.

Hope asks Chelsea how she is doing. Chelsea whispers to Hope that she knows Billie isn't her real mom but she does care about her and hopes she is alright. Hope knows. She tells Chelsea to be careful as now is not the time for the truth to come out. Chelsea nods as Kate comes over, telling Chelsea it will all be ok. Billie will come home safe as she is a very strong person. Kate tells her they just need to be there for each other.

Max watches Forrest/Fred continue to comfort Abby. Frankie asks if Max is ok. Max nods but says he isn't sure Abby is. Frankie asks about Fred. Max says he doesn't know much other then Chelsea is suspicious of him too. Max admits to Frankie he has a bad feeling about Fred.

Roman sits by Marlena, who is laying on a gurney. Caroline comes over, asking how she is doing. Roman says she is still sedated. She is so exhausted mentally and that is why she was in and out of consciousness before they sedated her so she could rest. Caroline just hopes the "real" Marlena is back. They all need her more then ever. Roman agrees. They embrace as Cal watches nearby, seemingly upset over what he is seeing. Katherine puts her hand over his eyes and tells him to guess who. Cal takes her hands down and says he doesn't feel like joking around. Katherine asks if everything is ok. Cal answers that it's just been a rough few days and he has alot to digest. Katherine understands and says she is there to help and tells him to remember that. Cal smiles and says he knows. They are married, afterall. They kiss and then embrace as Cal looks back over at Roman and Caroline.

Steve asks Bo what the chances are that Jack made it. Bo says it's been so long that it doesn't look good. He isn't ready to lose hope yet. Kayla urges Steve not lose hope either, as does Hope. Steve nods, saying he knows his brother. He is still put there and so is Billie. They just need to hang on to that and just wait for updates. Bo says that is the best way to go and they will continue to monitor things in Salem, as well.

Victor then announces that the Ewing jet has arrived. Everyone begins to line up for boarding as a man dressed in a black top hat, a black trench coat, and black jeans watches. The man stands to the side. The camera then pans up to show that the man has a mustache and beard and is also wearing tinted glasses. The man then walks further away from the boarding area and removes his glasses...IT'S ORPHEUS!!!

Orpheus watches everyone board and smiles, saying he has some nasty surprises in store for their homecoming.

Orpheus: It will be a welcome home they never forget!!

Orpheus then puts his tinted glasses back on and walks off as the screen fades to black.

It is a new day and the cruise ship survivors are still on the coast guard cutter, which is searching for the missing Jack and Billie. They have finally been giving some food, drink, and dry clothes. The storm is still going strong outside as a coast guard officer enters the room...

-Bo walks up to the coast guard officer, along with Hope. The officer says there is no word on Jack and Billie. He reminds Bo of the fact that they have been out in that storm for hours. Bo nods and thanks the officer for the update. Chelsea, Kate, Lucas, and Philip approach Bo. Abby calls out to Bo and asks for word on her father. Bo says there is nothing yet but, he isn't going to lie, it isn't looking good since they have been out there for hours. Forrest comforts Abby, promising her it will all be ok. He is there for her.

Kate breaks down in tears, saying this is her punishment for her actions. Lucas and Philip hate her, Austin is dead, and bow Billie may be dead. Lucas tells her to calm down. Sami comforts Lucas and says she is praying for Billie. Will reiterates the sentiment. Lucas thanks them. Belle approaches Philip and tells him she hopes his sister is alright. Philip thanks her. Belle walks over to Caroline. Philip sees Greta and approaches her. He asks her what Victor and her talked about while walked in the boiler room. Greta tells Philip that he needs to ask his father. She isn't about to overstep her bounds. She then walks over to join Frankie, Caroline, and Belle. Carrie is walking a crying Evan around as Nicole watches. Carrie tells her not to get any ideas and walks away as a stoic Nicole watches.

Victor is with Maggie, who tells Victor she is worried about going home. She will have to face charges and the media is going to have a field day. Victor urges her not to worry. He will take care of everything. Maggie says she is also worried about the re-igniting of his war with Victor. Victor says it was bound to happen and he plans on being the first to strike once they get home. He isn't about to give Stefano a chance to hurt his family.

Cassie embraces Stefano, telling him she is so happy he is alright. Stefano thanks her. He sees Lexie and asks her if she is happy as well. Lexie doesn't answer and walks away. Stefano sighs. Tony asks Stefano what he expected. He betrayed his daughter and she has finally realized what he really is. Stefano tells Tony that he only did what he thought was best for the family. That is all he has ever done. Anna rolls her eyes, saying she has heard that BS before. Stefano tells Tony to shut her up. Tony tells Anna to come with him and tells Stefano that he is the one that screwed up and now he must deal with it. Tony and Anna walk off as Cassie comforts Stefano, telling him it will be ok. He still has her. Stefano smiles.

Abe walks over to Lexie and asks if she is alright. She has been acting strangely since Celeste and himself were found locked in the cabin room. Lexie tells Abe she is fine and just doesn't want to be bothered. Celeste then comes over and asks Lexie if there is anything she would wish to talk to her about. Celeste adds that she senses great upset in her. Lexie tells her mother and Abe to back off and to let her be. Lexie walks off, leaving behind a bewildered Abe and Celeste.

Cal hugs Caroline, who tells him she is happy he now knows everything about his past. Kayla and Frankie reiterate that sentiment. Kayla walks over to Steve, assuring him that Jack will make it. Steve tells Kayla that he finally is back to himself and it would suck if Jack wasn't around. He really wants to reconnect with him. Kayla embraces him, telling Steve she knows.

Roman sits by Marlena when Caroline comes over, asking how she is. Roman says the ship's doctor says she is fine but he would like Barbara to examine her when they get home. He needs to make sure Marlena really is back. Belle and Sami both come over, telling Roman they are sure she is. They family needs her and she senses that. Carrie walks by with Evan. Roman tells her to come over. Carrie does so. Roman asks how Evan is. Carrie says he seems very upset but that is no surprise given what has happened. Roman looks into her eyes and tells her it will all be ok. They will all get through this as a family.

Caroline, Roman, Sami, Belle, and Carrie (holding Evan) stand around Marlena, all huddled together, as Cal watches. Katherine asks Cal if he is alright. Cal tells her he is fine. He knows all about his past now and he has her. That is all he needs. Katherine smiles and embraces him as Cal continues to stare over in Roman's direction, whispering "At least that is all I thought I needed." Katherine asks if he said something. Cal smiles and says he didn't. She then embraces him again as Cal looks over at Roman, seemingly jealous.

Julie looks at Doug longingly as he is comforted by Hope across the room. Shane asks Julie if she is ok. Julie shakes her head. Shane leaves. Julie's eyes fill with tears as she says she will never be ok again until she knows Doug and her are ok. Nico then taps her on the shoulder and offers her some tissuers. She smiles, saying that he is always a gentlemen. Nico insists he was always taught to treat a beautiful women with respect. Julie smiles and thanks him for his kindness. Nico assures her that Doug will come back to her. Any man would be stupid to leave her. Julie smiles and thanks him. Nico smiles back.

Max asks Chelsea if she is ok. Chelsea says she will be fine. They look over and see Abby still being comforted by Forrest/Fred. Chelsea says that Abby has family on board to comfort her yet she is always with him. Max admits he is hating this situation more and more by the minute. He just doesn't understand the fascination that Fred seems to have with Abby. Chelsea says she doesn't either and it is creeping her out more and more.

Philip decides that he needs to ask Victor about Greta as he knows something is going on there. He is about to go over when a coast guard officer enters. He says he has an announcment. They are going to head to a port nearby where all the cruise ship survivors can disembark. Travel back to Salem can be arranged from there. Victor says he can handle the travel arrangements back to Salem. He will call in a favor. The officer nods in agreement. Bo asks about the search for Jack and Billie. The officer says they will continue to search and will update the appropriate people as warranted but conditions still haven't improved and the chances of survival are dropping rapidly. He thinks they should all prepare for the worst.

Abby breaks down in tears as Forrest comforts her. Kate turns away in horror as Sami comforts Lucas. Philip is stunned and walks aimlessly in circles. Kayla comforts Steve. Max takes Chelsea in his arms. Hope asks Bo privately but he thinks the chances are. He simply shakes his head as Hope embraces him.

The scene then shifts to the stormy waters where a badge of some kind is floating. The camera pans in to reveal the item floating to be press badge. The name on it is none other then Jack Deveraux's. The scene then frezzes on Jack's press pass and then fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

ARE JACK AND BILLIE DEAD? WHY IS FORREST SO FASCINATED WITH ABBY? IS THE REAL MARLENA REALLY BACK? COME BACK TOMORROW TO FIND OUT!!!

salemum7.png

The cruise ship has gone down, the impact of which has caused several lifeboats to turn over. This has put many lives in danger on the very dangerous stormy seas as we rejoin our beloved Salemites in peril...

-Roman is pulling a lifeless Marlena with him as he struggles to swim through the stormy seas. He promises he that he will protect her and won't lose her...not after just getting her back. They hear a women crying out for help. Roman recognizes the voice. He then hears someone swimming nearby. It's Jack!!

Jack sees Roman and asks if he has seen Billie. He can hear her screaming but can't find her. Roman says he has heard the screams but has not seen Billie. Jack explains that Billie and himself managed to reach the top of the ship and jumped off just before the ship sank but he hasn't been able to find Billie since. Roman explains that he pulled an unconscious Marlena out through a cargo door. Jack asks about Orpheus. Roman says he either got away or went down with the ship. They hear Billie's screams again. Jack goes after her. Roman follows him, pulling Marlena with him and continuing to yell for help.

Meanwhile, several lifeboats are turned over and loud screams for help can be heard by many. Bo is swimming around the stormy waters, screaming for Hope. He prays that he hasn't lost her...not when they just reunited. He then hears Hope screaming his name and swims around looking for her. Eventually, he reaches her and lovingly embraces her. He reminds Hope that he told her to hang on. Hope says that the force of the ship going down was just too strong. That is why nearly all the lifeboats tipped over. Bo tells her they need to hope help comes soon because there is no way they can stay alive on these waters.

The scene then shifts Chelsea and Max search the waters for Abby. Chelsea fears she is dead as Abby is paralyze. They find her empty folded up wheelchair. They then hear Forrest yell out that Abby is fine and turn to see him on the lifeboat with Abby and Shane, who has managed to tip the lifeboat back over. Chelsea and Max look at each other, dumbfounded over Forrest coming to Abby's rescue again.

-Sami and Lucas swim over to Shane and the lifeboat he is on. She tells Lucas they have to find Will and the others. She tells Lucas she saw both Carrie and Evan go under. Lucas tells her they will. Belle then comes over, pulling a defensive Kate. Kate asks her why she didn't just let her die. She deserves it after what she has done and she won't be able to live with herself. Belle says she has children and grandchildren to think about and tells her to start thinking about them. Lucas searches for Sami and Evan but finds a lifeless Nicole. He gives her mouth to mouth and she comes to. Sami swims over and tells Lucas to find Will and let the bitch die. Nicole tells Lucas that he should've let her die. Lucas shakes his head and swims away. Sami and Nicole coldly state at each other as Shane comes over and helps Nicole to the lifeboat.

Lucas swims around and finds Carrie, holding Evan while holding on to a piece of debris. He swims over and tells Carrie to come with him. Carrie tells Lucas the water is so cold and Evan could get sick. She tells him she can't lose anyone else she loves. Lucas assures her it will be ok. Meanwhile, Sami searches for Will and hears someone screaming in the distance. She swims around, calling out for Will. The voice answers back, screaming for help. Sami realizes it's Will and swims over. She finds him and embraces him. She tells him it will be ok and they swim back to the lifeboat.

-Bo and Hope find Doug swimming around. They ask him why he isn't in the lifeboat with the others. He says that Julie disappeared after the lifeboat tipped over. He calls out for Julie and says he needs to find her...even after what she has done. He still cares about. Bo and Hope help him look.

The scene then shifts to Cal and Katherine, who help pull Lexie and Cassie on to the lifeboat. They join Tony and Anna. Abe and Celeste then swim over and get help being pulled up. Abe and Celeste go to embrace Lexie but she moves away. Abe asks what is wrong. Lexie doesn't answer. Victor makes his way over with Maggie. Cal pulls them up. Victor asks about Greta, who soon swims over with Philip. Greta says she can't swim and Philip helped to save her before she went under. Victor tells Philip that he owes him a debt of gratitude. Philip asks why as Greta is nothing to him. He was just saving a life. Victor is silent. Caroline and Frankie are then pulled on board.

Cassie then asks where Stefano is. They hear a cry for help in the distance. It's Stefano. Cassie says they need to go help him. Victor says there will be no such thing. He looks out toward Stefano and yells out "Nothing personal. It's just good business, old friend." Maggie remembers that Stefano said that right before leaving Victor and her to die. She tells Victor that she knows where he is coming from but saving Stefano could end the war. Victor shakes his head and says it won't end until one of them is dead. They have the opportunity to let Stefano die now and need to take it.

The sound and sight of a large boat gets everyone's attention. Stefano turns and sees the boat. It's the Coast Guard, who yell out through a speaker for everyone to hang on.

Meanwhile, Bo and Hope help Doug search the stormy waters. Hope sees an object floating in the distance. Bo tells her that isn't an object but a body. It's Julie. They swim over and give mouth to mouth. Doug prays she is alright. She comes to and tells Doug she knew he still cared. Doug is silent and turns away from Julie. Bo and Hope help them to the lifeboat, where they join Steve and Kayla. A still injured Steve says it was nice going for a little swim. Kayla laughs and says she only wishes the water were warmer. Bo sees the Coast Guard cutter and announces that help has arrived.

-Later, many of the cruise ship guests are now on board the coast guard ship. Towels have been given to them all for warmth. Julie comes over to Doug and tells him she knows she made some mistakes but thinks they can still work it out. They do love each other. Doug gets up and walks away, leaving Julie all alone. Maggie sits with Victor, fearing that the war between him and Stefano will be much worse now given the events tonight. Victor says he doesn't care. Caroline comes over and says Victor had the right idea...to let Stefano die. Stefano comes over, laughing. He says that he wouldn't have died anyway. He is the phoenix, afterall. Victor and Stefano coldly look at each other, acknowledging the fact that both left each other to die. Victor says it seems the way is back on. Stefano nods, telling Victor he will see him back in Salem. Stefano walls away, leaving behind a worried Caroline and Maggie and a determined Victor.

Max tells Chelsea he doesn't like this Fred Allen guy as he watches Abby with Forrest/Fred. Chelsea admits to Max that something is up with him and she doesn't like it and hasn't since meeting him. Philip asks Greta what is going on between his father and her. Greta says that he will have to ask Victor. Bo and Hope walk in after talking with the coast guard. Kate is sitting alone when Nicole walks by. They exchange cold glances as Kate tells Nicole she should be the one dead. Nicole blankly stares at Kate and walks away. Sami sits with Carrie and asks if Evan is ok. She thinks he is. Sami tells Carrie they will get through this and embraces her. Lucas tells Carrie that Sami is right. Carrie is silent.

Belle comes over, saying she is worried about their father. She notices Bo and Hope have returned. Bo comes over with Hope. The whole room listens in as Bo says that everyone is accounted for except Orpheus, Roman, Marlena, James, Jack, and Billie. Just then, Roman is brought in with Marlena. He places the unconscious Marlena on a cot. Belle, Carrie, Kayla, Bo, Hope, Caroline, and Sami embrace Roman. He fills them in on what happened and his belief that Orpheus got away. He also tells them of James's death and says he was killed by Orpheus. He also shares that it took everything he had but he got the "real" Marlena back...at least, he hopes. Roman adds that Marlena has been unconscious ever since she passed out after she seemed to fight her way out. Sami says she is sure that if he saw the "real" Marlena back, she's back. Their love brought her back. Roman hopes so. They all need her right now.

Bo says that means only Orpheus, Jack, and Billie are not accounted for and he doesn't expect to find Orpheus. Roman says that Jack was searching for Billie after they jumped ship before it went down. Roman explains he followed Jack but he lost sight of them and couldn't hear Billie screaming anymore. Chelsea begins to get worried along with Kate, Lucas, and Philip. A coast guard officer then comes in and Bo informs him that only 3 are unaccounted for. The coast guard officer says the storm has gotten too nasty and their men are doing their best but the chances of anyone surviving out there is going down with every hour. A worried Abby breaks down with worry for her father, saying she can't lose him too after losing her mother. Forrest comforts her as Max watches. Chelsea says that Billie and her had issues but she still cares about her. Max comforts her before Bo comes over, embracing her and promising they will find her mom as Hope watches, knowing she is her real mother.

The scene then shifts back to the stormy seas as Jack searches for Billie. He can't hear her screaming but sees something floating in the distance. It's Billie!! he swims over and discovers her not breathing. He begins mouth to mouth, hoping he remembers how to do it. He begs her not to leave him now as continues mouth to mouth.

The scene then freezes on an unconscious Billie and then fades to black.

"SALEM LIVES: VENDETTA" and "THE VOYAGE OF VENGEANCE" have brought great changes to Salem Lives over the past few weeks. From reunions and payoffs to deaths and shocking revelations...the residents of Salem have seen it all of late. "It's been wild and very exhausting to write," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "We invested so much in this and we built up to these events for over a year. We wanted it to be perfect and, judging from the response by the fans, it was. We only hope we can keep on delivering."

While the past few weeks have made fans who patiently awaited payoffs happy, it's very bittersweet as some characters have said their final goodbyes recently. As of the July 13 episode, 5 actors have seen their character killed off. Those actors consist of Jensen Ackles (Eric Brady), Paul Kersey (Alan Harris), Patrick Muldoon (Austin Reed), Charles Cioffi (Ernesto Toscano), and Roscoe Born (James McCluer). Ackles was doing double duty for most of the last year and had asked to be released from the show. "It's just too hard," Ackles admits. "I loved the show but I was only supposed to come back for a little over 6 months with Ari (Zuker, Nicole) but it turned into more of a recurring thing. However, I worked quite a bit and it conflicted with "Supernatural" alot so I knew I couldn't do this any further. The writers were great and gave me a fantastic exit. I was pleased but I will miss all my friends."

Kersey wasn't around for comment but Born reiterated that sentiment. "I knew it was a short-run. I only wish more time was spent on James grieving but Tim told me that was his fault. There was just so much story and James got lost in the shuffle. I had so much fun with this role. I mean, I worked with Deidre Hall (Marlena). It was just a blast." Cioffi was also pleased with his stint. "I was shocked when I returned last year because I left in 1990. Never once was there any speculation, except my name was mentioned in 2004 during the Captive Island plot. I was never called though. I had a blast last summer and had a blast returning to finish the story. I would return anytime, if asked. The material I received was a pleasure to play." Muldoon's exit was perhaps the most shocking as his character, Austin Reed, is married to Carrie Brady (Christie Clark) and has been frontburner all year. Muldoon, the role-s originator, was asked to return as a recast for Austin Peck. Muldoon had been wooed for years to return to the role and admits that he's sad to see his run come to an end. "It sucks but it's the business. They felt Austin had nowhere else to go and that he was merely a prop to Carrie and those around him. I kind of had the feeling when they brought me back that it wasn't going to last. I just had an instinct. I am happy I did return. This is the best material I ever got and playing this story with Christie, Ali, and Bryan was awesome. The exit I was given couldn't have been any better. I would come back as a ghost or for whatever they had in mind. I was treated well and have no regrets or ill feelings. I just hate to leave but that's life."

"We hate to see these actors go but many of these exits were necessary," admits Lowery. "Jensen was here alot longer then we all thought and Paul, Charles, and Roscoe were never meant to be long-term characters. I feel bad about Roscoe because his character got the short end of the stick. My co-EP/HW Patrick L. Ewing and I planned to do much more with him pertaining to his grief over his family and so on. The blame for that rests on me. I put other stories ahead of that and we suffered in that area. I regret what happened there. I feel bad about Patrick too but we just had nowhere else to go with Austin and some people had to go. This opens up alot of story and we needed to make the current stories end with a bang. We promised lives would change and this changes lives so we are proud of how everything went but sad to see these actors go."

Setsiders have been reporting for weeks that a massive casting bloodbath was about to hit and it appears to have begun. However, it may be far from over, as sources hint. "It's not over," Lowery hints. "We have more exits to come this summer and a few more further down the road. The cast was simply too large so that goes into our line of thinking and some exits coming are storyline-dictated. We just try to tell the best stories possible so whatever it takes to do that, we'll do."

The most surprising news, however, is word of cast additions in the midst of cast cuts. In a major casting coup, 2 major movie actors and a major soap star will be joining Salem Lives by summer's end. Famke Janssen (X-Men Trilogy, Nip/Tuck) will join Salem Lives August 3 as Miranda Grey, an ISA agent who is friends with Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) and has ties to another Salem resident as well. The role is recurring at the moment. "Famke is one of my favorites and we are delighted to have her aboard," enthuses Lowery. "She is a fine talent and will bring alot to Salem Lives." The other film star joining the cast is Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Prestige), who will join Salem Lives on August 24 as Alexander Dawson, son of Elizabeth Dawson. He is said to be a brooding man that has led a privileged life but feels something is still missing. "This is a major coup as he is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now," says Lowery. "He is an amazing talent that gives us something we need...a young leading man. We will have to work around him a but but we feel we can do it." The role is contract.

Playing the role of Alexander's mother, Elizabeth, is none other then GH favorite Finola Hughes (Anna). "We are thrilled to have her and we will need to work around the show she has and her summer GH schedule but we have a plan in place," explains Lowery. "We believe she will bring alot of class and elegance and will contribute alot. Her coming aboard really makes the story for me." The role is recurring for now but expect Elizabeth to have connections to a few Salem residents.

In the midst of all these comings and goings. Lowery promises fans that Salem Lives will not lose any steam. "The best is yet to come," he adds. "You haven't seen anything yet."

DON'T MISS A STUNNING, JAW-DROPPING MOMENT THAT WILL LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS!!

salemum7.png

As the storm continues to rage on, we revisit our beloved Salemites aboard the cruise ship...

-On the second level, Marlena has her gun aimed at Roman.

Roman: This isn't you, doc. You don't want to do this.

Marlena: Your beloved "doc" is dead so stop calling me that. And, yes, I want to do this. I want everyone on this ship to die.

Roman: No, you don't. You have children on this ship. Your not a monster, Marlena. You would never want them to die. Hell, you would never want anyone on this ship to die, the exceptions being Stefano and Orpheus.

Marlena: I'M SAMANTHA, DAMNIT!!! DON'T CALL ME MARLENA OR DOC!! AND, YES, FOR THE LAST TIME I WANT EVERYONE ON THIS DAMN SHIP TO DIE!!! THEY MUST DIE!!

Roman: That's the brainwashing talking. Tek, Wendell, and Andre...they started this and Ernesto and Orpheus picked up right where they left off after we thought you fell to your death in the volcano. I got through to you before you fell...I know you are still there. I know the real Marlena is just fighting to break through. She is probably crying out to her loved ones. I know her...all of her loved ones in pain is killing her.

Marlena: SHUTUP!! Marlena is gone. She's been gone. What was left of her died in that volcano.

Roman: That's not true. Remember when you tried to smother me with a pillow back in January? You stopped yourself. Marlena made her presence known that night.

Marlena: Like hell she did.

Roman: You have no other explanation. Look...all the brainwashing manipulated your emotions. They used all your bad memories to twist your mind so that they could use you for their own gains. You were vulnerable and they knew that. The night you fell into the volcano you mentioned voices in your head. Those voices are still there. Those voices are Tek, Wendell, Andre, Ernesto, Orpheus...and God knows who else. You can put an end to this. They know you blame yourself for all the horrible things that have happened to the people you love. They know you think you brought it on all of us. They used that...it was their key to manipulating you.

Marlena: Shutup!! Damnit! I have had enough! You couldn't be more wrong. Everything you just said is BS and I sick of it. I'm sick of you. Time to shut you up...permanently.

Marlena puts her finger on the gun's trigger and aims it at a nervous Roman.

The scene then shifts to Kayla and Bo, who are still giving Steve CPR as Abe, Hope, and Frankie watch and pray that he makes it. Kayla pounds on Steve's chest and begs him not to leave her. He promised her they would get their lives back! She can't lose him now...not after just getting him back. Bo holds compressions and tells Kayla it's been too long. He isn't breathing. Kayla feels for a pulse and gets nothing. With tears streaming down her face, she looks down at Steve and refuses to believe he is gone. He can't be gone. Bo embraces his sister as Frankie and Hope comfort each other with a horrified Abe watching. Kayla then breaks from Bo's embrace and says she isn't giving up.

Kayla (crying): We've never given up on each other in the past and I'm not going to start now. When I nearly died in Sydney, you didn't give up on me. I flatlined and the doctors believed I was gone but that didn't stop you. You were my angel that day...just like you always have been. You brought me back and I am going to bring you back...just the way you brought me back with...

Bo: What Kay?

Kayla: A kiss. Steve's love brought me back when he kissed me. I'm not letting you go, Steve. (clutches his face) You hear me?! I'm not letting you go!

Kayla then kisses Steve passionately as the screen turns white as a Steve and Kayla montage begins...

CLICK HERE FOR STEVE AND KAYLA MONTAGE!!!

As the montage ends, Bo is back to doing compressions as Kayla is doing mouth to mouth. Bo tells Kayla it's no use. Even her kissing him didn't help. It's over. Steve's gone. Kayla breaks down in tears and pounds on Steve's body as she lays her head down on his chest.

Kayla (crying): NO!! YOU PROMISED!! YOU JUST CAME BACK TO US!! WE CAN'T BE CHEATED AGAIN LIKE THIS!! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!

Steve: Calm down, baby...

Kayla picks her head up and looks at Steve, whose eyes have opened. Bo, Hope, Frankie, and Abe are elated.

Kayla: Steve...

Steve: That's me...damn! What happened to me, sweetness? I feel like I was hit by a truck.

Kayla: Well, your close. We were knocked around by a wall of water.

Steve: Well, that explains it. I'm telling you, I would rather deal with what we did in Stockholm then this junk.

Kayla: You remember Stockholm? (looks into Steve's eyes) Oh my...you know, I noticed it when I first looked into your eyes when you opened them. You remember...

Steve: Of course I remember. Marlena was kidnapped and we all went to get her. Too bad that dude Orpheus didn't die back then because now we have to deal with that nutjob.

Kayla: You remember! You got your memory back!

Steve: Yeah...I guess I did. Finally! That kiss you gave me did more then pump my heart (smiles).

Kayla: I was just returning the favor.

Steve: Thanks, baby.

Kayla: We're finally going to have our lives back. We can be a family again!

Steve: Sure can.

Bo: I hate to interrupt but we are on a sinking ship and we need to get out of here.

Steve: Always the party pooper. Ok...

Steve gets dizzy as he tries to get up. Kayla says that she will need help with Steve. Steve says there is no need but Frankie thinks it's a good idea. The ship rocks back and forth and Hope says that they are running out of time. Bo says he is going to find Roman, Marlena, Jack, and Billie. Hope tells him she is going to and he can't stop her. Abe and Frankie agree to get Steve and Kayla to the lifeboat. They remind Bo they only have one left and they will wait as long as possible. Bo nods. Abe wishes him and Hope luck as they take off.

The scene the shifts to Jack and Billie, who break from their passionate kiss as the cabin room is filled with water near their necks. Jack tells Billie he feels good that they admitted their feelings for each other. Billie agrees but wishes they had done it sooner as they are about die. Jack says they could still get a miracle. Billie shakes her head. They both then hear a loud crashing sound. A terrified Billie wonder what that is. Just then, the door of the cabin room bursts open as a huge rush of water pours in, overcoming Jack and Billie.

The scene shifts back to Roman and Marlena, who is about to pull the trigger.

Roman: Your still in there, doc. I am going to do whatever it takes. I won't give up on you like I did that night near the volcano. You need to fight...fight your way back to us!

Marlena: Shutup! Marlena is gone. She's dead and never coming back. Your wasting your breath.

Roman: You want to kill me (walks closer to Marlena). Go ahead. Do it. You still can't bring yourself to pull the trigger. That proves Marlena is still there. Come on, doc. Come back to me. Come back to Carrie, Sami, Belle....we need you. We all need you. Now more then ever.

Marlena: This will stop!!

Roman: If you want it to stop, then do something about it. You have the gun. Fire it.

Marlena: I...just want to wait...

Roman: For what? You know you can't do it. Why? Because I'm reaching Marlena. It's inevitable. She can feel my love. She can feel that she is needed. Her loved ones are in pain. We need her. We need you, doc. Please. Come back to us!!

Marlena: NO!!

Roman: Doc, so much has happened! Please...it's Roman. The man you love. I love you so much! We all do. Our friends...children...we all need you! I need you!!

Marlena: Damnit, Roman!!

Roman: Doc...come on. Don't give in to the brainwashing! Don't give in to the manipulation! That is why you took on the name, Samantha. It symbolizes one of the worst things that ever happened to those you love that you could've prevented. You think it's your fault. You still blame yourself for her murder and always will. That wasn't your fault. It wasn't your fault that Sami and Eric lost so much time with you. You were kidnapped by Orpheus and Stefano. It wasn't your fault that I went years thinking I was John Black. None of this was your fault. Come back to us, doc. We can get you help! We can fix all this!

Marlena's hands begins to tremble as she begins to lower the gun.

Roman: Wait, I know what is going on. You want all of us to die so protect us. You think getting rid of us will spare us more pain. The brainwashing twisted that thought in your mind. Your words say that you want us all dead but, in reality, you are trying to protect us by killing us, thinking it's better then a cycle of pain and suffering on earth.

Marlena (turning away and putting her head down): No...that's ridiculous.

Roman: No, it's not. The idea of it sounds off but it's something Marlena would do. The Marlena I love. The Marlena we all love. She would never want her loved ones dead. You love your children, Marlena. That isn't you.

Marlena (puts her hand up to her head): I'M NOT MARLENA!!

Roman: We need you, doc. The family needs you. We've lost so much...we need you with us to get through this. The family needs to be together. We need you!!

Marlena (shaking): Marlena is gone!! For good!!

Roman: LISTEN TO ME, MARLENA!! COME BACK!! PLEASE...WE ALL NEED YOU!! I NEED YOU!!! WE'LL ALL FALL APART WITHOUT YOU!!

Marlena: STOP THIS!!!

Roman: NO!! MARLENA...(as tears well up in his eyes) we can't go on without you. We've lost enough...we can't lose you!!

Marlena: You haven't lost enough! And I will make sure you lose more!

Roman: I didn't want to...tell you...(fighting off tears)...but...

Marlena: What's wrong with you?

Roman: Marlena...we need you...we lost Eric...we need you here with us. We need you here so we can heal and get through...(Roman is overcome with emotion and wipes tears from his eyes)

Marlena turns away from Roman and seems deeply affected. Her eyes well up with tears as she tries to fight the tears off.

Marlena: Wait, Eric? He's gone...how? When?

Roman (fighting off more tears): The gunshots that were heard earlier. Eric was hit. There...was nothing...we could do. And that's not all. A pole fell on Austin, crushing him. He didn't make it. Carrie is devastated. We all are. We've lost so much! We need you, doc!!

Marlena (clutching her head and fighting back tears): Austin...Eric? My son...the girls...Carrie...Sami...Belle...no, they needed to die. Eric and Austin both. Everyone must die!!

Roman: You don't want that, doc. That's not you. Fight...come on baby!! Fight!! Our son is gone!! We all need you!!

Marlena: No!! I don't care!!! Marlena isn't here!!! Stop this!!

Roman: Come on, doc!! COME ON!! WE NEED YOU!! I'M HERE!! (moves closer to Marlena)

Marlena (aims gun at Roman again): DON'T COME ANY CLOSER!!

Roman: I love you, Marlena. I love you, doc.

Marlena: NO!! STAY BACK!!! ARGH!! (CLUTCHES HEAD IN PAIN)

Roman: I love you!

Roman then grabs Marlena and kisses her. Marlena gives in but pushes him off her, aiming her gun again.

Marlena: YOU...MUST DIE!!! ARGH!! (holds head in pain) THEY...THE VOICES...THEY WANT...

Roman: Don't listen to them!! Come on, Marlena. Come back to me!! Come back to those who love you!! Remember the good and bad!! Not just the bad!! Remember your life, doc!! All that you have done!! All about your life!! All about our lives together!!

Marlena continues to clutch her head as Roman's words reverberate in her head while a Marlena montage begins...

As the montage ends, Roman turns Marlena around and sees her face soaked with tears. He looks into her eyes and holds her face in his hands, lovingly.

Roman: Doc...

Marlena (crying and looking deep into Roman's eyes): Ro...man...Roman!!!

Roman: It's you! Your back!

Marlena: YES!! IT'S ME!! I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR SO LONG...FIGHTING SO HARD TO COME BACK!!

Roman: I know!

Roman takes Marlena in his arms as they both break down in tears.

Marlena: I tried...I knew you all needed me. I knew you were all in pain. The voices...they just...

Roman: It's ok, doc. It's all going to be ok.

Marlena: Austin...Eric!! Eric!! Our son!! Oh, Roman!! How could this be!!

Roman: We's get through this, doc. We will...we need you so much! I need you!!

Marlena: I tried so hard to stop this. To break through...I... argh!! (clutches her head)

Roman: Doc! Marlena!

Marlena then pistol whips Roman and aims her gun yet again.

Marlena: STAY AWAY!! (holds her head and screams out in pain) ARGH!! DAMNIT!! IT HURTS!!

Roman: MARLENA!!

Marlena: STAY AWAY!! (points gun) I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!!

Just then, a rush of water bursts through the door to their passageway, overcoming Roman and Marlena.

The scene then shifts to...Jack, who is holding on to a railing as the force of the water tries to pull him away. Billie is on the other side of the passageway, hanging on for dear life to a door latch. Jack tells her to hang on. Billie says she isn't sure how long she can. Jack tells her to do it for him. Billie smiles. Just then, water bursts through another door, overcoming Billie. Jack can't see her and panics, calling out frantically for her. He screams that he won't let her go and that he is coming. He then lets go and gets pulled away by the forceful waters, just as the ship begins to tilt and water begins to fill the ship more rapidly.

The scene then shifts to the main deck. Steve and Kayla are on the lifeboat with Abe and Frankie. The ship has begun to tilt. Abe says they have to lower the boat now. He yells down to Shane and tells him to tell the other lifeboats to back up from the ship or they will get pulled down with it when it sinks. Shane yells back up that he will and then does as instructed. The other lifeboats begin to pull away. Bo and Hope arrive and announce that they couldn't find Jack, Billie, Roman, or Marlena. Hope says the ship is sinking rapidly and they knew they had to come back. Their children need them and they need to do what is best for them. They all just need to hope and pray that the others found a way off or will find a way off before it sinks. Abe thinks they did the right thing.

Bo and Hope board the lifeboat. Bo, Abe, and Frankie begin to lower it. Abe tells Bo he told the other lifeboats to get going so they don't go down with the ship. Bo thinks that was a good idea and hopes they get away to before the ship sinks or they may be in trouble yet. Frankie reminds them of the storm and says there is still that to deal with. Hope agrees...they all are far from being out of the woods.

The scene then shifts back to...Roman, who is making his way through the passageway that is now filled with water. He is yelling for Marlena and looking for her. He sees her floating and swims to her as the water continues to filter in. The ship begins to tilt as Roman reaches Marlena, who then jumps up and hits him again in the face with her gun.

Marlena: I told you to stay away!!

Roman: You were in trouble. I...

Marlena: I did that so you would come over!! I want you dead!! I need you dead!! I will be damned if I let the ship claim your life! I will!!

Roman: I don't think so!! You won't do it!! Marlena won't let you!!

Roman then lunges for Marlena. They fight over the gun and it goes flying out of her hand. Marlena tries to fight off Roman and is punching and kicking as the water continues to rush in, adding further struggle to their battle.

Marlena: LET GO OF ME!! DAMNIT!! LET GO!!

Roman: COME ON, DOC!! I KNOW YOU ARE THERE!! YOU WERE JUST HERE!! WE NEED YOU!! COME ON, DOC!! I LOVE YOU!! COME BACK!! COME BACK!! REMEMBER YOUR LIFE...OUR LOVE...OUR CHILDREN!! REMEMBER YOUR LOVE FOR THEM!! REMEMBER THAT THEY NEED YOU!!

Marlena (shaking her head in pain and frustration): NO!! ARGH...NO!! RO...NO!! I WON'T...NO!!

Roman: COME ON...MARLENA!! I LOVE YOU!! COME ON!!

Marlena (breaks free of Roman, clutches her head): NO...ArGH...YES...

Roman: I love you, doc! Please...

Marlena (crying): I...I...love you, Roman.

Roman (looking into Marlena's eyes): Doc...it's you. Your back!

Marlena: They stopped...the voices stopped...(holds her head) please be gone. I...don't want to...fight...it's so hard to fight them...

Roman (holds Marlena in his arms as tears well up in his eyes): I'm here now, baby. It's ok. It's ok.

Marlena: It's always ok in...your...arms.

Marlena then passes out on Roman's shoulder.

Roman: Doc...doc? Marlena?

The ship begins to rock and begins to tilt up.

Roman: Oh my God...we're going down. I have to get us out of here...and fast.

More water rushes in as the ship tilts even more.

Roman: It may already be too late.

The scene then shifts to Bo, who watches as the ship is tilting downward and beginning it's descent into the dangerous, stormy waters. Hope and Abe pray the rest of their loved ones got off. Bo looks at all the other lifeboats and shows a face of horror. Frankie asks what is wrong. Bo says they aren't far enough away. None of the lifeboats, including theirs. He yells out to everyone to keep their life vests on and to hang on. There is a good chance the ship will take all of them down with it. Hope, Frankie, Bo, Abe, Steve, Kayla, and all the guests on the other lifeboats all look on in horror as the cruise ship sinks before their very eyes. Bo yells out a final warning for everyone to hang on as the ship goes under, the force of which begins to pull at the lifeboats. Bo hangs on to Hope and tells her to hang on and don't let go as the scene goes white...

and then fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES..

WHO WILL SURVIVE AS THE SHIP HAS NOW SUNK? WILL THE STORM CLAIM THOSE THAT DO SURVIVE? DON'T MISS A MINUTE AS THE VOYAGE OF VENGEANCE CONTINUES NEXT WEEK!!

salemum7.png

As the storm continues to rage on, we revisit our beloved Salemites aboard the cruise ship...

-Victor and Maggie break from their kiss. Maggie says at least now they can die knowing how they feel about each other. Just then, Caroline appears. Greta, Frankie, and Philip soon follow. They are shocked to see Victor and Maggie. The water has reached the faces of Victor and Maggie. Victor explains how Stefano left them to die. Caroline says it sounds like the truce is over. Victor nods.

Philip and Frankie search for something to break the gate lock with. Frankie finds an ax in a glass holder on the wall. Philip breaks the glass. Frankie uses the ax and breaks the lock, revealing Victor and Maggie. Caroline embraces both of them as Philip embraces Victor, followed by Greta. Everyone wonders why Victor and Greta hugged. Victor says there is no time and he will explain later. They need to get off the ship now. There is no time to go looking for everyone else. Frankie agrees and they all race off.

-Marlena has her gun aimed at Orpheus as Roman watches. She tells him his reign of terror is over. Orpheus laughs and says that Marlena is making him out to be some sort of comic book villain. Marlena lashes out at Orpheus and reminds him that she isn't Marlena. She is Samantha and his time is up. She points her gun at Orpheus as a horrified Roman watches.

-As water continues to fill the passageway, Kayla grabs hold of a railing and calls out for Steve. She recalls them being thrown up against the wall by the rush of water, with Steve taking the worst of the hit, and prays that Steve is ok. She then sees Steve's body being dragged off by the force of the rising waters. Kayla realizes she must swim over to him and lets go of the railing, allowing herself to be pulled by the dangerous waters as she struggles to reach Steve.

The scene then shifts to Jack, who is being pulled away by the rising waters. Billie screams out for him. Jack tells her to hold on. Jack sees a cabin room nearby and grabs on to the door frame. He holds on tight and tells Billie to take his hand as she is pulled by. She does do and he pulls her in to the room. Jack then closes the door behind them to keep anymore water from getting in but tells Billie it's only postponing the inevitable. Billie asks why they bothered getting in the room if it's only going to fill with water too. They may as well have taken their chances with the rising waters.

Jack says it's the only thing he could come up with quickly and they were both in danger. Billie tells him they still are...only now they are going to die sooner rather then later as they are trapped in a room that will soon be filled with water as well. Jack tells her not to panic but Billie tells him it's over. They need to accept it. No matter what they did they were going to die. They just helped it to happen sooner. Billie turns away, resigned to her faith, as a frustrated Jack looks around the room, searching for a safe way out.

The scene then shifts to Bo, who is calling out to Hope. She is still holding on to a steel bar. Bo tells her to hang on. He notices a staircase near Hope and thinks that may be his best chance to get to her and get them both to safety. Bo allows himself to be pulled by the forceful waters as Hope screams out to him that he is being stupid and will get himself killed. Bo reaches for the staircase railing and, after nearly missing it, manages to grab it. He pulls himself up to the second stair and reaches for Hope, who is a few feet away. Hope says she takes back the stupid comment. Bo smiles and says that she needs to stop with the kneejerk reactions. Hope explains it's her nature and he is always one to take stupid risks.

Bo tells her enough with the talking. He instructs her to grab his hand and he will pull her over. Hope reaches but nearly gets pulled away. Bo tells her to take his hand. He isn't going to let anything happen to her. He can't lose her. Hope and Bo both smile at each other. She then reaches for his hand as he reaches for hers. She grabs it and he pulls her over, fighting the force of the rising water, but managing to get her to safety with him on the staircase. He pulls her into an embrace and holds her tight, elated she is alright.

Bo: I don't know what I would've done. Seeing you handing on like that...I was so scared. You mean everything to me.

Hope: And yet you spent the better part of the last year pushing me away.

Bo: Look...

Hope: Bo, don't you see? You claimed that you pushed those you love away because you felt you couldn't be the man you should be. You felt you couldn't be the husband, friend, father...but, don't you see? You still are. You prove it everyday. Today, you showed that your still my hero and a hero to so many others. You took charge with helping to get everyone off the ship and you helped Will with his problems for weeks. Your Uncle Eric hurt you but that was in the past and you only just remembered it now. It doesn't change who you are. Your still the same man I fell in love with. You questioned your manhood and everything that you are but there was no reason for it.

Bo: Hope...I just want to be what I need to be. A loving father and son...someone my family can depend on...someone...

Hope: You are all of that and more. You always have been. You still are what you strive to be, Bo. You just proved it by saving me and by how you helped out in the ballroom. Nothing has changed. The man who isn't who you want to be is that man who lied and pushed his family away for months. All that did was cause more hurt for everyone. That man goes against everything you strive to be...so, promise me that man won't make a comeback? We have alot of issues to work through but...your still the same man that I can't live without. The man I want to wake up next to every day for the rest of my days. I love you, Bo Brady. I just want us to be together. We all need to be now...more then ever. We can work through our problems together. You just can't run and hide.

Bo: Your right. I caused more harm then good. I hurt the people I love more with how I handled learning the truth. I just got rattled and...I just want to heal. I want our family to heal. No more running away or pushing people away. Life is too short and, if we get off this ship, I promise we will face our problems head on. I love you, Fancy Face. Always have and always will. I want to be in your arms again. I want our lives back.

Hope: Well, then, let's get going so we can get off this ship and make that happen.

Bo: Just a second...

Bo leans in and kisses Hope passionately.

Bo: Needed to seal our reunion with a kiss. We have come so close to reuniting before...just needed to make this official.

Hope (smiling): No arguments from me. Come on, let's go!

Hope and Bo race off.

-On the main deck, Abe and Cal are discussing what they should do. Katherine, Lexie, Celeste, and Stefano have been loaded into the lifeboat but they wonder if they should wait for any of the others to find their way back before lowering it as there is only one lifeboat left. Victor, Maggie, Frankie, Greta, and Philip arrive. Victor takes a look at Stefano and lunges for him, lashing out at him for leaving him and Maggie to die. Abe says there is no time for this. The ship is going down and some people are still missing. Abe says he is going back to search for them. Frankie agrees to go with him, as does Cal. Abe says he needs Cal to stay behind with the lifeboat. His expertise is needed. Cal agrees and asks if Abe is sure about lowering the lifeboat given they have only one left. Abe says they have to get as many to safety as possible. Everyone agrees.

Celeste tries to convince Abe to just wait for the others but he says he has a duty and that is to go and help those people. Lexie watches this scene, recalling seeing her mother and Abe kissing before. Stefano watches Lexie coldly stare in their direction and smiles. Victor says he isn't getting in the same boat as Stefano. Cal tells him he has no choice and he will use whatever means necessary to keep order on the boat. Maggie and Lexie try to calm both men. Stefano and Victor coldly look at each other as Abe, Frankie, and Cal lower the lifeboat. Once it's lowered, Abe and Frankie race off to find the remaining 8 guests on board the ship.

In one of the other lifeboats, Abby asks Chelsea if she sees her dad on the boat that just got lowered. Chelsea shakes her head and says she doesn't see her mom yet either. Forest tells Abby it will be ok and embraces her. Max whispers to Chelsea that he doesn't like what he is seeing. Chelsea agrees. On another lifeboat, Cassie is relieved to see Stefano and Lexie on the just lowered lifeboat. Anna comments on how Stefano just doesn't die. Tony smiles. On another lifeboat, Julie tells Doug that she doesn't see Hope yet. Doug says he doesn't need Julie reminding him that his daughter is still in harm's way and orders he to just be quiet and leave him alone. Julie turns away from Doug and begins to cry. Nico puts his hand on Julie's shoulder as a gesture of comfort. She looks up at him, puts her hand on his, and smiles.

Meanwhile, Sami asks Carrie how she is holding up. Carrie remains silent, while holding Evan, and begins to tear up when looking into Evan's eyes. Sami embraces the both of them. Lucas looks at Will and says they need to stick together as a family...now more then ever. Will nods. Belle watches a stoic Nicole, who has her back turned to everyone. Belle tells Kate that nothing will ever be the same again. A stone-faced Kate nods in agreement and says that she, herself, is to blame. Her son is dead and she could've prevented it all from happening.

-Back on the ship, Jack is still looking around for a way out when Billie tells him to give it up. The cabin room is rapidly filling with water. It's only a matter of time as the water has already reached their waists. Jack says he won't give up. Their children need them. He promised Jennifer he would take care of them. Billie tells Jack that he will be reuniting with Jennifer soon. Jack tells her not to talk like that. Billie says she can't help it. The ship is sinking and the room is filling with water. There is no way out. It's over and they just need to accept it.

Jack: Billie...

Billie: Jack...the sooner we stop denying it and just admit that we are going to die, the better. Although, admitting something so hard can be...difficult (looks down and turns away).

Jack: I get the feeling you aren't just talking about dying on this ship, are you?

Billie: Nevermind.

Jack: Oh, come on. I know you, Billie. We've been friends for years.

Billie: Yeah...I know. That is what makes it hard.

Jack: What?

Billie: So much time has been wasted. Now, here we both are...on a sinking ship...about to die. After all we have both been through, especially in the past year, it's weird for it all to end like this. I only wish...

Jack: Billie...just tell me what is on your mind. I can tell something is.

Billie (fighting back tears): It's hard, Jack. I'm almost as afraid of this as I am dying. I have been hurt so many times...Bo, Nicholas... my luck with love has sucked, to put it mildly. I am so afraid to put my heart on the line (wipes tears from her eyes) You know, I finally moved on with my life and then, last summer, you and I begin spending more time together then usual. You needed me because you lost Jennifer and then we had all those troubles with our daughters and Laura, not to mention working together on the cloaked figure case and you helping me through JJ and Angel's deaths and the kidnapping of our daughters. You have been there for me so much. We've always been close but...now...

Jack: Billie...

Billie (crying): I have wanted to say something for so long but...I didn't want to be hurt again. I also didn't want to ruin what we have. I would never want our friendship to end. It's gotten be through some rough times.

Jack: Billie...what are you saying?

Billie: So much time wasted...I was so scared to tell you. I didn't know how you would react. Now, we are going to die and I can't help but...tell you. My feelings...they are just boiling over inside me...I just want you to know...if this is it...

Jack: Billie....go on...tell me...

Billie (tears streaming down her face): I love you! I love you, Jack! I have fallen...totally and completely...in love with you.

Jack looks on stunned and turns away from Billie.

Billie: (wiping her tears): I knew it. I should've never said anything but...I couldn't help it. I mean, we are going to die anyway and...God, I'm rambling. I sound like you. Jack, damnit Jack! Say something! Please!

Jack (turning towards Billie): Guess I rubbed off on you with the rambling...

Jack smiles as Billie shows a slight grin back.

Jack: Billie...you've always been a true friend. Always loyal, supportive. In the last year, I would've never made it without you. Between Jennifer, Abby, Orpheus...you were there right by my side through it all. We've both been through alot and here we are. Things don't look too good and that often makes people think about things...life, regrets...and one thing I regret, like you, is not saying this sooner.

Billie: Saying what?

Jack: Like you, I was afraid. It's only been a year since Jennifer and I wasn't sure if my family...if I was ready...for another relationship. I didn't want my family to get hurt or myself. I also didn't want to risk what we already have...this great friendship that has been going strong for years.

Billie: Jack...

Jack: Billie, now that you have said what you said, I feel like I can say what I have wanted to now, as well.

Billie: Which is...

Jack: My feelings for you have become something that is more then that of a buddy. I never thought I could feel like this again about anyone after Jennifer but, lo and behold, I do. Everytime I look into your eyes...it makes me feel alive again. It makes me feel ok to laugh and to enjoy life. Billie...I'm in love with you. I love you, Billie Reed!

Billie (tears streaming down her face): Jack...you feel the same way?

Jack: Yes. I only wish I hadn't waited until we were about to die to say this but timing has never been my strong suite, I guess (smiles).

Billie (laughs): Yeah. Jack, you feeling the same way, it's such a relief...

Jack: If we somehow miraculously get off this thing, I want to be with you. I don't want to fight it like we both been.

Billie: We're not getting off though.

Jack: One thing I have learned in life is you never know. I never thought I would find love again and I did...with you.

Billie: Got me there. Ok...if we get off somehow, I want to be with you too. I just want to finally be happy!!

Billie breaks down in tears as Jack takes her in his arms as the water is nearing their necks. They then break from the embrace and look into each other's eyes. Jack gently wipes Billie's tears with his hand and says:

Jack: Don't cry. No matter what happens...it will be ok. I'm here...

Billie: Just like you always are...

Jack: Just like I always will be.

They both then lean in and share a passionate kiss as the water in the room continues to rise.

The scene then shifts to Kayla, who is fighting the force of the water as she continues to swim to catch up to Steve. She is closing in and sees that Steve's body has stopped being pulled away as it's reached a dead end. Kayla notes that the water is rising fast and swims quickly over to Steve. She pulls his limp body to a staircase and pulls him up the stairs to a landing on the next floor up. She checks him over and discovers his head is bleeding and concludes it was injured when he was thrown against the wall with her, only he took a direct hit.

Bo and Hope arrive. Kayla is happy to see them and tells them what happened to her and Steve. She discovers he isn't breathing and panics, saying Steve can't leave her now. He promised to remember his past and to fight to get his life back. She won't let him die on her. She won't give up. Kayla begins CPR as Bo helps by doing compressions as Kayla does mouth to mouth as Hope prays that Steve makes it as Abe and Frankie arrive. They are happy to see Bo, Hope, Kayla, and Steve and ask what happened. Hope tells them what is happening and they all look on with worry, hoping Steve will be fine as Bo and Kayla continue CPR.

The scene then shifts to Marlena, who still has her gun aimed at Orpheus as Roman watches.

Orpheus: I can't believe you would consider killing me. I was helping you to get your revenge.

Marlena: No. You used me. Little did you know that I was using you too...

Orpheus: There! We were using each other!

Marlena: Yes but you betrayed me. You framed me for the McCluer murders and then set me up to be locked in a nuthouse, which allowed me to be framed for the Chez Rouge fire. I went through hell and you are going to pay for it. Your going down...just like everyone else on this ship!

Marlena has her finger on the trigger. Roman begs Marlena not to sink to Orpheus's level. Marlena lashes out again and reminds Roman once more that she is Samantha and he will butt out or get a bullet to the brain. Marlena prepares to fire as Orpheus aims his gun, saying he will fire right back. Marlena smiles and tells him to go right ahead. It will be worth it. The ship then rocks, throwing everyone's balance off. Roman takes the opportunity to go for Marlena's gun. he lunges for her and struggles with her over it. Orpheus races off, which Marlena notices. She throws Roman off of her and says:

Marlena: Damnit! You let him get away! Salem PD shows it's stupidity again! You say you hate the man and then you help facilitate his escape.

Roman: I just didn't want you to do something you would regret. This all has to end, Marlena.

Marlena: Marlena is gone. That is the last time I will say that. This is also the last time I will allow you or anyone else to get in the way of my plans. The only thing ending tonight is the lives of everyone on this ship, including you.

Roman: Mar...

Marlena: SHUTUP!! IT'S OVER!!! YOUR LIFE, THAT IS!! Your lucky. The others will likely suffer slow and painful deaths by drowning but yours will be simple and quick. BOOM!! HA!!

Roman: You don't want to do this!

Marlena: THAT'S IT!! YOU HAVE TOLD ME WHAT TO DO FOR THE LAST TIME!! YOU DON'T CONTROL ME!! NO LONGER WILL YOU INTERFERE!! GOODBYE...ROMAN BRADY!!

Marlena aims her gun at a nervous Roman as the scene fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

THE SHIP GOES DOWN!! WHO WILL LIFE AND WHO WILL DIE!! PLUS, DON'T MISS A MAGICAL MOMENT FOR ONE COUPLE AND THE DRAMATIC SHOWDOWN YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR BETWEEN ROMAN AND MARLENA/SAMANTHA!!!

salemum7.png

As the storm continues to rage on, we revisit our beloved Salemites aboard the cruise ship...

-On the main deck of the cruise ship, the aftermath of the explosion has worried everyone. Bo tells Hope that he can't wait any longer. His mother and Frankie are down there along with Jack, Billie, Abe, Celeste, Cal, Katherine, Roman, Marlena, Philip, and Greta. Hope reminds him about Victor too. Bo nods. Hope says she won't let him go. The ship is going under and there has been so many explosions. Plus, someone needs to help get people off the ship. Bo says they can't get anyone off if no one is making their way to them. Kayla notes that Bo has a point.

The ship then rocks yet again and jerks everyone around. Bo says he can't wait anymore and races off. Hope races off after him. Kayla says she has family down there and they may need her. Steve warns her not to go but she runs off anyway, as a frustrated Steve gives chase.

-Orpheus and Roman both recover in the aftermath of the explosion. Orpheus tells Roman he has waited for this moment for so long and even a sinking ship and plethora of explosions won't ruin it. Roman tells Orpheus that he must lead a pretty sad life to be this obsessed with revenge for all these years and to go through all this just to get it. A smirking Orpheus tells Roman that it's not best to insult a man with a gun. Roman tells Orpheus he doesn't scare him. Orpheus comments on Roman's undying bravery and determination. Roman tells him to save the BS.

Orpheus laughs and says that he is so happy to be able to kill Roman himself, rather then him simply drowning or being blown to bits. This way he can watch him cry out in pain and die. He just hopes it's a slow and agonizing death.

Marlena: Like yours is going to be, Orpheus?

Orpheus and Roman are both stunned when Marlena appears, aiming her gun right at Orpheus

-Abe and Celeste are still locked in the cabin room, crying out desperately for help. Celeste tells Abe that she feared that so many of them would lose their lives and it seems that is coming to pass. Abe tells Celeste not to panic. Celeste says it's hard not to when they are on a sinking ship and there is no one around to save them. Plus, they just had another explosion of some sort. Celeste asks Abe what will happen to Theo since they have no clue where Alexandra is. He will be all alone. Abe takes her in his arms and tells her to stay calm. He will do everything in his power to get them off the ship and to find Lexie. He just needs her calm. Celeste takes a deep breath as Abe goes back to trying to open the door.

Meanwhile, an unconscious Lexie lies near a wall as a lost Stefano tries to find a way off the ship. He realizes the danger they are in as the ship is sinking and he can't find a way off. All the passageways look the same and time is running out, especially since they just had another explosion. He then turns to find Lexie gone and is shocked. He turns back around and comes face to face with Lexie, who slaps him.

Lexie: You bastard! I can't believe I ever called you my father!

Stefano: Alexandra...I...

Lexie: Don't even try to lie to me. You know...I wasn't completely unconscious this whole time. I heard your ramblings. You took advantage of the fact that I got hurt so you could take me away from everyone. You want to groom me to be what you want...same goes for Theo.

Stefano: Alexandra...

Lexie: No...I am through with you and this family. I turned my back on the Dimera's once before and came back to the family only to have my father lie to me. You set me up to be seduced by Tek. You ruined my marriage and you used Theo to tear me away from my loved ones. You helped keep my son from me just so you could have me under your thumb! Now, you want to take me away...what? You going to brainwash me? That's your solution for everything!

Stefano: Alexandra...I was only doing what was best for the family. I need you...you are the future. You and Theo. I made mistakes...but I can't lose you, my darling. Come with me...let me show you what life can...

Lexie: No...I already know what life as your daughter is like and I don't want any part of that. I am through with you and this so called family.

Lexie runs off as Stefano calls out after her and then follows behind.

-Cal and Katherine are trying to make their way to the top of the ship. Katherine wonders where the last explosion came from. Cal isn't sure but knows they don't have alot of time. The ship feels like it's sinking. The ship then rocks back and forth, throwing both of them against the passageway wall.

The scene then shifts to Jack and Billie, who are recovering from the effects of the last explosion. Billie holds her head, saying that will be a nasty bump. Jack tells her she will be lucky if that's all she gets. The ship then rocks back and forth again, causing both of them to fall backwards. As they try to pick themselves up, Billie hears a crashing noise. Jack tells her that it sounds like a rush of water closing in. A worried Billie says they need to hurry. They both get up and race off as the scene shifts to...

The second from last level of the ship. Philip and Greta hold on to the staircase banister and watch the water closing in on them. Philip says he can't see Victor or Maggie anywhere. Greta says that the force of the water must have pulled them down the passageway. She wonders how they will ever find them now.

Meanwhile, Victor and Maggie struggle to stay above water as they are pulled down the passageway. Maggie finally grabs hold of a staircase railing and yells for Victor to grab her hand, which he does as he floats by. They walk up the stairs but find themselves trapped as the staircase is closed via a steel gate. Victor frantically bangs on it but the lock won't budge. Maggie tells him the water is rising and it won't be long before it reaches them. Victor turns away and says he knows.

The scene then shifts to Frankie, who pulls Caroline out of a water-filled passageway and embraces her. He says he is so happy she is alright. Caroline says she is just happy she remembered how to swim. She says they need to find Victor and Maggie. She was wrong to even consider leaving. They need help. Frankie asks her how she knows they aren't already off the ship. Caroline says she feels it. A part of her heart will always be Victor's and she feels him still on board. She asks Frankie if he is coming with her or not. Frankie follows.

-Stefano races down a passageway, trying to find Lexie. He turns a corner and is shocked to see Victor and Maggie behind a steel gate. Victor and Maggie are shocked to see him, as well. Victor asks what he is doing. Stefano explains he is looking for Alexandra. Victor asks Stefano for a little help as the water is rising fast. Stefano walks towards them but hesistates. Victor asks what is wrong. Stefano smiles and says:

Stefano: It's nothing personal. You and I go way back. I respect you. This is just good business. I hate that the lovely Maggie must suffer too but, alas, how often does an opportunity like this present itself?

Victor: What opportunity?

Stefano: The chance to rid myself of one of my greatest enemies. The best part is that I don't have to do a thing.

Victor: We had a truce.

Stefano: Yes and I honored that. However, that was when the cloaked one was terrorizing Salem.

Victor: Orpheus still is out there, as far as we all know anyway.

Stefano: Things change, old friend. You would do the same. I know you would. One must always do what is best for one's family...and empire. You perishing...let's remember we are at war. We took a break and partnered to protect those we love. Those days are over...at least for me. I can not let this chance go by. I must seize it.

Victor: You bastard! If I get off this ship, so help me...

Stefano: IF...Victor. The chances of that...well, you know what those are. So sorry you were caught up in this, dear.

Maggie: Your awful.

Stefano: May you both rest in peace. Again, Victor, let me say you were a worthy foe that played the game well. My respect and admiration for you is unmeasured. Until we meet again...in parts unknown...goodbye!

Stefano walks off as Victor screams out to him, saying that he will get what's coming to him for this...somehow. Maggie asks what they are going to do now. Victor looks at the rising water and says all they can do is hope for a miracle.

-Back at the cabin room, the ship rocks back and forth once more. Celeste looks out the porthole and can see the ship taking on more water. A frustrated Abe then punches the door and says he can't do this anymore. Celeste races over to him and tends to his hand. Abe says he is fine but Theo won't be. He may end up losing all of them or, worse, Stefano may have Lexie and then he will go get Theo and groom both of them. Celeste reminds him that he was telling her not to think like that. He tells her that is when there was hope. There is no hope now. No one else is on the ship. Time is running out. They are going to die.

Celeste begins to break down in tears, saying she should've thought about Theo and never came with him but she wanted to help. She could've at least boarded one of the lifeboats like he told her to. Abe says they all have regrets. They just need to hope and pray for the best for Theo. As tears stream down Celeste's face, Abe wipes them and begs her not to cry. Celeste says she is scared. Abe takes her in his arms and comforts her. As they pull away, the ship rocks, throwing them both back against the door. Celeste is pressed against Abe, who is pressed against the door. They lock eyes.

Celeste: It's not going to be long. I can feel it. Death is upon us.

Abe: Celeste...

Celeste: Abraham...I am just glad that I am with you right now. I don't think I could face this...I am grateful. Grateful for you being by my side the past few months and...

Abe: So am I. You've been a godsend and...if this is it, then being with you right now...it helps.

Celeste: Abraham...I...am so...

Abe: I know...it's scary.

Celeste: I...need...

Celeste then moves in as Abe slowly does as well and the two lock lips. At that moment, Lexie races down the passageway and catches a glimpse of something in a cabin room. She peers in to see her mother passionately kissing her husband. She stands in shock. Stefano then comes up from behind and sees this scene. He can't help but smile. Lexie turns around in tears, telling her father not to say a word.

Cal and Katherine turn appear and comment on how good it is to see live people, although he wishes it weren't Stefano. Katherine says they need to get off the ship now. Cal sees Celeste and Abe in the cabin room and asks what is going on. Lexie says she found them and she was about go in and get them. Cal asks if something is wrong. Lexie asks Cal to get them as she feels sick and needs to get to the main deck. She races off as a smiling Stefano follows. Katherine asks what that was about. Cal has no clue.

Celeste tells Abe she is sorry for the kiss. Something just came over her. Abe apologizes too and says he didn't fight it. They are both to blame. Celeste then recalls her vision of kissing Abe and realizing it just came true. Cal then opens the door and asks what is going on. Abe and Celeste are grateful to see him and fill him in on them getting locked in. Katherine says time is running out and they need to get off the ship. Abe agrees and tells Celeste she needs to get off this time...for Theo's sake, even if he needs to stay on board to help anyone still on board. Celeste agrees. Katherine says Lexie and Stefano are on their way up the main deck. They just saw them. Abe and Celeste are relieved and Cal says they need to get going. All four race off.

The scene then shifts to Caroline and Frankie, who are searching for Victor and Maggie. Frankie tells Caroline that it may be time to give up and get to the lifeboats. Just then, Philip and Greta appear. Frankie embraces Greta, expressing how good it is to see her. Greta and Philip fill them in on what happened with them, Victor, and Maggie. Caroline says they can't leave them. They need to find them...and fast. Greta agrees and her and Caroline race off as a worried Frankie and Philip follow.

Meanwhile, the water has risen past Victor and Maggie's waists.

Maggie: It's hopeless, isn't it? Honestly...?

Victor: Yes. Afraid so. There is always a really small...

Maggie: No, this is it. It's payback for my sins.

Victor: We all make mistakes in life, Maggie. Some of us learn...some of us don't. I have made many that I never learned from.

Maggie: Same here. My drinking...it led to all this. It's all my fault. Mickey died because of me and then I screwed up your life and Doug and Julie's. The Horton name is going to be dragged through the mud because of me. Now, here you are with me and you are going to die because of me.

Victor: Maggie...STOP IT!! You need to stop blaming yourself. That helped lead to all this.

Maggie (fighting back tears): I know...but I messed up so many times. I even messed up what we had. There you were...there for me through Mickey's death, my drinking...I had to ruin it...so many times. The biggest being my lack of faith in you. If I cared about you as much as you did me, I would've never believed that you slept with Nicole.

Victor: Maggie...it's fine. I understand and that is what I wanted you to think. I listened to Julie and I let myself believe that pushing you away was the best thing but it wasn't. I love you, Maggie. Pushing you away wasn't right. All it did was hurt the both of us in so many ways. We both made mistakes and I regret mine so much. We missed so much time together.

Maggie: I hurt you so bad. I said such terrible things...

Victor: We both hurt each other but I always felt that you loved me. Did you feel that I loved you?

Maggie: You know...yes. I did. A part of me always did.

Victor: Let's end all this talk about regrets right now. Maggie, can you forgive me for all my mistakes? For pushing you away?

Maggie:Yes.

Victor (with tears in his eyes): Now, just know that I forgive you and if, by some miracle, we do get out of here, I want us to be together. No matter what. I will support you. We will face all the charges you face together. I will do what I have to...we will be together. No more will I allow us to be kept apart. You own my heart now, Maggie. Let's leave the past in the past. You do love me, don't you?

Maggie (crying): For so long I wanted to say this but...yes! With all of my heart...yes! I never thought I could love again but...Victor...if we do get off this ship...I want to be with you! I just wish...

Victor: We will face the charges. I won't let you go! I will help you. I promise.

Maggie: I know you will but...

Victor: Trust me.

Maggie: This time...I will. Oh...it feels so good to finally tell you how I feel. Hold me!

Victor takes Maggie in his arms. They then break apart and look into each other's eyes.

Victor (fighting back tears): If we don't make it, no regrets. We know we love each other. That's all that matters.

Maggie (crying): I love you, Victor Kiriakis.

Victor: I love you, Maggie Horton.

They then share a passionate kiss as the water is now reaching their necks.

The scene then shifts to Jack and Billie. Billie tells Jack she can hear the water closing in. He says they have to hurry. Just then, a flood of water breaks through the ship's walls, overcoming Jack and Billie as the scene shifts to...

Kayla, who is caught up to by Steve. Steve says this is a bad idea. Kayla says her family and friends may need her. She is a doctor and she took an oath. Steve says they lost Bo and Hope a long time ago so now that means more people are missing and separated. Kayla tells him to calm down. Everything will be fine. They will all make it off the ship. Water then comes bursting through a door in the passageway, throwing Steve and Kayla against a wall and pulling them away as the scene shifts to...

Bo and Hope. Bo asks why she always has to follow him into dangerous situations. Hope smiles and says it's the way things have always been. Bo says that may be true but this is dangerous and all he needs is her getting into trouble. They need to find the others so they can all get off. Hope says she is fine and the others will be too. They just to have faith. Just then, water bursts through a door in front of them. Bo flies against a wall and looks around for Hope. He screams out to her and sees her hanging on to a steer bar for dear life. She calls out to Bo as the water continues to flood in,trying to pull Hope with it as Bo watches, terrified.

Meanwhile, Marlena asks Orpheus and Roman if they liked that little explosion. That was her masterful work as she wanted to shake things up a bit. She hints that more surprises are to come. Orpheus tells Marlena not to be stupid. He tells her to leave and let him kill Roman. She will likely die if she stays on board much longer. Marlena asks why he cares and says that he will die if he stays too. She adds that she doesn't care if she dies, just as long as he and everyone else goes down with her. She then aims her gun at Orpheus and says that she would like very much to kill him by her own hand and then asks why not do that now?

A nervous Roman looks on at a worried Orpheus and a deranged Marlena as the scene fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

WHO WILL SURVIVE AS THE SHIP CONTINUES TO FILL WITH WATER QUICKLY? ALSO, DON'T MISS A LIFE CHANGING MOMENT FOR ONE COUPLE AND A SPECIAL MOMENT FOR ANOTHER!!

salemum7.png

As the storm continues to rage on, we revisit our beloved Salemites aboard the cruise ship...

-Victor can’t believe that Greta is really his daughter and demands answers as to why this may be true. Greta wants to explain everything but feels that with them all on a sinking ship, this just may not be the right time and place. Victor tells her that it may end up being their graves so, if it is, he wants to know the truth. At that moment, both of them hear loud crashing against the boiler room door and, moments later, the door bursts open as water rushes in, carrying both Philip and Maggie with it. A chained Greta slogs through the water and goes to help Philip up the best she can. Philip then regains his bearings long enough to unchain Greta and also to go over to Victor and try to remove the chains holding him at bay.

With Greta and Philip’s help and the help of a crowbar that Philip has found, Victor is finally free and all four guests look for another way out as the water rises in the room. Maggie looks past everyone and sees another door and alerts everyone. They all then help each other through the cold, murky water to the door. When they reach the door, Victor tries to open it but it is locked. They all look around for anything to help break the door down as the water continues to rise.

-Caroline is searching for Victor in the bowels of the ship. She is hoping that she didn’t make a mistake sending Maggie after Victor. Just then, she is caught from behind by Frankie, who is telling her that they need to get out of there and fast.

--Worrying that Cal may have died, Katherine starts to check his pulse and places her ear to his chest to see if he is still breathing. She lets out a sigh of relief when she hears his heart beating perfectly. Cal starts to stir and he sits up on the floor. He then stands up as Katherine looks at him and she watches him walk slowly over near the bed that Ernesto is lying next to. Katherine walks up behind him and places her hands on his shoulders as Cal makes a startling announcement.....

Cal: I remember. I remember damn near everything about my life.

Katherine gasps in shock and takes a step back as Cal turns and looks at her. He then tells her that......

Cal: This man knows everything about me. (Looking at Ernesto) Don’t you, old man?

Ernesto (opens his eyes slightly):Yes. Yes, I do.

Cal: Then why didn’t you tell me?! Why didn’t you tell me that you knew my mother?! I remember her crying her eyes out as I left home to join the service. She never knew I went to Vietnam, did she?

Ernesto: Yes, she did. So did your brother and sisters. (Breathing heavily) I tried everything I knew to prevent it from destroying everyone you loved.

Cal: Then why? Why did I leave home?! TELL ME OLD MAN!! WHY DID I WALK OUT ON MY FAMILY?!

Ernesto: Why? I don’t know why. All I know is that it was the greatest regret of my entire life. To have.......

A son of mine.......

Walk away from everyone who loved him. How do you think that made me feel?!

Cal stumbles backwards. He can’t believe what he just heard. One of the men he has hated most has just told him.....

That he is his father.

-On the ship's 2nd level, near a maintenance room, James holds Orpheus at gunpoint as Roman tells him to let Jack and Billie go. Orpheus refuses, of course, saying.....

Orpheus: I see that the years have done nothing for your intellect, Roman. Still as stupid as ever.

Roman: Man, listen to what I’m about to say. My son........is dead........because of you. Not to mention all of the other people you have murdered over the past year. So..........I would drop the smart ass [!@#$%^&*] before James blows your damn brains out!

Orpheus: Temper, temper, old friend. (Pulling a gun) I think this evens things up a bit.

James: Roman, tell them to get the hell out of here. This prick won’t do a thing.

Orpheus: Tell him, Roman. I bet you thought the very same thing.......right before I blew your house to hell.

Roman looks at Orpheus, slowly walks over to the cabin room, opens it, walks forward staring at Orpheus again, and then slowly turns towards Jack and Billie, motioning them to leave. Billie looks at James and, with tears coming down her face, tells him that she is so sorry for what happened to his family. James just shakes his head all the while staring hatred at Orpheus. Jack slowly nods his head at Roman and he takes Billie’s hand as they both walk around the corner and then sprint down the hallway. When Orpheus takes a step forward, James walks right in front of him, standing between Orpheus and Roman.

-Back in the boiler room, Philip sees a blowtorch sitting by some crates next to the wall. He grabs the torch and brings it back over to the group. Greta asks him where he got it from. He says that he happened to see it over by some crates. Maggie remarks that it is really convenient to find a blowtorch that just happens to be sitting around. Victor agrees, saying that stuff like that only happens in soap operas. Philip frowns at them and then lights the blowtorch. After several frightening moments, the door is pushed open and the group is now free. They walk out into the hallway and Philip spots a staircase leading upward. Philip and Victor help Maggie and Greta through the water and up the staircase as another huge rush of water closes in behind them...

Meanwhile, Caroline asks why they need to get off right away. It seems they have some time. Frankie says that water is quickly filling up the lower levels of the ship. After hearing this, Caroline agrees that getting off is best and thinks that Victor and Maggie may have got off too, given the situation. She takes Frankie’s hand and, as they turn to leave the hallway, a huge wave of oncoming water breaks through a wall and takes them both down the long hallway.

-Ernesto continues his discussion with Cal and Katherine in the cabin room, his breathing becoming more and more shallow.....

Ernesto: We fought so badly the day before you left home. You never wanted to be a part of my world. I tried my best to protect you, your brother and your sisters, Marina and Isabella. I tried to protect you......from the horrors of this world. And I failed. You hated me so much when you left.

Cal and Katherine listen intently.......

Ernesto: We never knew.......what happened to you. All we ever heard.......was that you were M.I.A. I spent millions trying to find you.......but nothing. Your mother........she died of a broken heart. She blamed me for what happened to you, which is one of the reasons..........why she had that affair with Victor, which produced your baby sister. And then.......

Stefano found you.

Cal walks over and sits down on the bed, beside his dying father.........

Ernesto: He was the one who had your face altered and trained you to become Roman Brady. In fact........you and Roman were on the same island at the same time after Stefano shot and kidnapped him, turning him.........and you as well, my son.........into his Pawns. He knew...........that he would use you to disrupt Roman’s life if Roman.........had failed in his duties as Stefano’s Pawn.

Katherine walks over and hugs a now crying Cal as he looks down at Ernesto..............

Ernesto: So, you see why I did what I did. Orpheus told me that I could have you back as my son if I helped him with all of this........deception. But........he lied to me, son. And now..........I must pay for my crimes.

Cal: No. You have to live. (Leaning down over Ernesto) You can’t let it end like this.

Ernesto: This is not my choice, son. But (Placing his hand on Cal’s hand) I want you to know......that there wasn’t one single day that went by........that I didn’t think about you. And I never, ever.........stopped loving you, my son.

Cal: Well, then, (Wiping away tears) we can all get off this ship and you can make it up to me, ok?

Ernesto: No, my son. Take your beautiful bride and save yourselves. She looks so much like your beautiful mother. (Looking at Katherine) You keep my son happy, dear.

Katherine: I will spend the rest of my life doing just that.

Ernesto: Well, I guess this is it. Go. Go and get out of here.

Cal stands up and both men shake each other’s hand instinctively. Then, Ernesto smiles at Cal, and his hand drops down next to him, as his eyes slowly close. Cal looks down at Ernesto and says out loud....

Cal: Goodbye, Dad. If you see her, tell Mama I said hi, ok?

Katherine takes Cal’s hand and she slowly leads him out of the room. As Cal leaves, he can’t take his eyes off of his now deceased father and, right before he leaves the room, he turns off the light, and closes the door.

-Back on the second level, James raises the gun to Orpheus’s chest, telling him that.....

James: I should destroy the same thing in you that you destroyed in me. What did my family ever have to do with any of this?

Orpheus: They were keeping you off of the mission. All of them had to be eliminated. Don’t you see that, you fool?!

James: FOOL?! YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT ABOUT THAT, YOU SICK BASTARD!!! MY LADY.....MY CHILDREN.....YOU KNOW, I SHOULD PULL THE TRIGGER RIGHT NOW!!!

Roman: No, James! I know how you feel. Believe me, I do. We both have lost children to this sick bastard. But.......don’t play his game. Don’t let the pain and hate ruin you forever.

James: (Walking up toward Orpheus) You don’t know what he made me do. To you, Marlena, Cal....everyone. All that crap on New Years’ Eve, the kidnappings......all of it. And I’m supposed to let him walk away from that?!

Roman: Yes, James. You are. It is taking God’s Hand right now not to strangle this !@#$%^&*] for what he has put all of us through.....but then he wins. And where does that leave you?

James: (Pointing the gun at Orpheus’s head) Satisfied.

Orpheus: Well, James. What’s it going to be........being Roman’s puppet........or taking justice into your own hands?

Orpheus looks at James as he turns ever so slightly. When James diverts his gaze, Orpheus grabs James’s hand and the two men struggle for the gun. When they lower the gun between them, a shot rings out, as Orpheus and James look at each other for what seems like an eternity....

And then James slowly slumps to the floor.

Orpheus backs up as Roman rushes over to James, kneels down next to him, and then cradles him in his arms......

Roman: Well, that didn’t go as planned, did it?

James: (Smiling) No, I don’t think so. Do me a favor, man.

Roman: Name it.

James: Tell Billie and Jack that I don’t blame them for what happened. This asswipe played us all. You, me, Marlena......everyone.

Roman: I’ll do that, man. Look.....you’re going to be just fine.

James: I know. I’m going Home. At least.........I hope so.

Roman: Don’t say that, James.

James: Roman, I have been nothing without my family. They saved me. I’m just glad I came clean before the end, you know?

Roman: Yes. Yes I do, my friend.

At that moment, James looks past Roman and sees a bright, beautiful light. He gazes at the light for a moment and then sees a figure emerge from the light. The figure, who is dressed in white......

Is his beautiful wife, Renee.

James smiles and reaches his hand out to her as she reaches her hand out to him. When they take each other’s hand, James’s spirit rises from his body........and he is now dressed in white. He looks at Renee like he did the first time he ever saw her beautiful face, as she says to him.....

Renee: Welcome Home, My Darling.

James looks past her.....and sees the smiling faces of his three children...JJ, Jonathan, and Angel. He slowly walks forward with Renee, as his family finally takes him Home....

And he slumps dead in Roman’s arms.

Roman slowly places James’s head on the ballroom floor and says to Orpheus.....

Roman: Well, !@#$%^&*].......just you and me.

Orpheus: Excellent. I have been waiting for this moment for 20 years.

Just then, another explosion rocks the ship and shakes it to its core once again. Both Roman and Orpheus lose their balance as the scenes shift throughout the ship to the trapped guests. Victor and Maggie fall down the staircase and are pulled away as a wall of water comes down upon them as a horrified Philip and Greta watch. Frankie and Caroline manage to make it to a staircase only to be slammed against the wall and tossed back into a rush of water. Jack and Billie, as well as Cal and Katherine, get tossed around between walls and doorways as the scene shifts to an outside view of the ship as it continues to take on water.......

As the scene slowly fades to black.

ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

-WHO WILL SURVIVE THE LATEST EXPLOSION? DON'T MISS MORE TWISTS AND TURNS AS THE VOYAGE OF VENGEANCE RAGES ON!!!

salemum7.png

The thunderstorm is intensifying as lightning and thunder continue to make their presence felt. The seas have become a concern as the waves are now up to dangerous heights. The rain is coming down in sheets and visibility couldn't possibly be any worse as we rejoin our beloved Salemites after the explosions that rocked the cruise ship...

-The ship is rocking from left to right due to the aftermath of the explosions set off by Orpheus. Austin has his arms around Carrie, who is holding Evan. Carrie sees the cracked lookout pole beginning to fall and screams as it falls toward them. Austin turns, sees the pole, and pushes Carrie out of the way...resulting in the pole falling on him. Carrie shields Evan as she falls against the wall, recovering before falling to the deck. She turns and sees Austin, lying pinned by the pole on the ship's deck. Carrie lets out a blood curdling scream as a frightened Evan begins to cry.

Meanwhile, Lucas stirs at the bottom of a staircase and finds Sami and Will next to him. Sami slowly recovers and tells Lucas she is fine. They both shake Will and try to get him to wake up, realizing he took the brunt of the fall. Will slowly stirs and asks what happened. Sami says it feels like explosions rocked the ship and they ended up falling down the staircase. Lucas says he dove after them and that is how he ended up at the bottom of the stairs. Sami thanks him for his efforts to save them and then hears Carrie screaming, along with Evan's cries. They race up the stairs and are shocked to see Carrie, holding Evan, knelt down by a pinned Austin's side. Sami is in shock as they race over. Lucas and Will try to lift the pole but fail. Lucas tells Will to go get help. Will races off.

Nicole, who is lying nearby, gets up off the deck and sees Carrie holding Evan. She is stunned to see Austin pinned and asks what happened. Sami tells her to stay out of it as Carrie tells Sami to hold Evan. Nicole says she can hold "her" son but Sami warns her that if she even so much as touches Evan, she will send Nicole flying overboard. Nicole backs off, still distraught over Eric's death.

-In the ballroom, Philip picks himself off the floor and wonders what the hell happened. Hope is with Forest, Abby, Steve, Kayla, Jack, Billie, Chelsea, and Abby. Kayla is tending to Forest, who grabbed on to Abby's rolling wheelchair during the explosions and prevented her from flying out and being injured by putting himself between the wall and her. Abby thanks him for saving his life and says she doesn't know where she would be without him these past few months and now, today, after he saved her life. Jack, Billie, Chelsea, and Max all have uneasy feelings about Fred/Forest. Max asks if the guy is for real. Chelsea says she doubts it. Jack tells Billie he wants to know more about this "Fred Allen" and thinks there is more to him then meets the eye. Abby embraces Fred/Forest as Jack, Billie, Max, and Chelsea suspiciously look on.

Bo returns to the ballroom. Hope races over to him as Roman does the same. Roman says that Marlena, Orpheus. and James are all gone. Bo says they have bigger problems. The explosions all came from the bottom level of the ship and the ship is taking on water pretty quickly. Roman reminds Bo that Marlena changed the position of Orpheus's explosives to give those on board more time but also for them to suffer. Bo says they still have limited time and need to get everyone into the lifeboats, which he found on the far right side of the ship. Bo announces to the crowd in the ballroom that the ship is taking on water and they need to evacuate. Philip hears this and realizes his father is still on board and likely locked in the boiler room. He decides he can't leave without him and goes off after him.

Abe walks up to Bo, Hope, and Roman and says that Lexie and Stefano are missing. Celeste walks up soon after and says she is getting a vibe that Alexandra is in great danger. Roman tells Abe to go after them if he wants. They can start getting people off. Abe thanks them as Hope wishes him luck.. Celeste tells Abe he may need her and her psychic abilities. Abe tells Celeste to think of Theo and to get off the ship. He doesn't want Theo to lose his whole family. Celeste tells Abe she is going to search for her daughter...with or without him. Abe reluctantly agrees. Cassie asks Tony and Anna where grandfather and Lexie went. Tony says he has no clue and then whispers to Anna that he thinks his father is up to something.

Bo begins to motion the crowd in the ballroom out to the deck to board the lifeboats. Bo tells Roman to go after Marlena if he wants to. Just then, Will races in and says that Uncle Austin is hurt real bad and they need help getting a pole off him. A stunned Kate races off with Belle, who believes Carrie will need her. Roman realizes he should go to for his daughters. Bo tells him to go. Roman races off. Billie tells Jack she needs to go check on her brother. Jack offers to go with her. Hope tells them she will make sure they all board the lifeboats. Will tells Kayla they will need her. Steve says he will go with her but Kayla orders him to stay and help Bo get people off. She will meet up with him as soon as she takes care of Austin. He agrees but urges her to be careful. She smiles before racing off.

Shane, Bo, Hope, and Steve load Forest, Abby, Chelsea, and Max on to the first boat. Nico assists with the loading. Abby and Chelsea don't want to leave their parents but Shane assures them they will be right behind them. Hope tells Doug and Julie to get on. Doug asks if he has a choice of lifeboats. Hope tells Doug she understands he is hurting but this is not the time. Doug gets on with Julie and clearly shows his discomfort with the situation as Julie's eyes well with tears. Doug tells Hope that she better be getting off right behind them. Hope smiles and says she will be. Bo orders Tony, Anna, and Cassie to get on the lifeboat. Cassie is worried about Stefano. Tony says that he will be fine...he always is. Anna can't help but agree. All three board the lifeboat as Bo says it's time to lower the first boat down.

Caroline sees this scene as Frankie races up to her, asking if she has seen Greta. She was supposed to return to the ballroom but he hasn't seen her since before the explosions and she isn't in the ballroom now. Caroline says she hasn't seen her. Frankie can see that she is upset and asks what is wrong. Caroline admits she is worried about Victor. He is locked up somewhere on the ship and she sent Maggie off to find him. She is so worried and, if anything happens to Maggie, it's her fault. Frankie says it's not her fault and it will be ok. Caroline says she can't leave it to chance and takes off to find Victor and Maggie. Bo sees this and asks Frankie where she is going. They need to get her off the ship. Frankie explains that she went after Victor and Maggie and tells Bo he will go get her. He needs to find Greta anyway. Bo says he will go too but Frankie tells him to trust him...he will bring mom back and find Greta. Bo is needed to help with the evacuation. Bo says fine and says he will come after him if he isn't back soon. Frankie races off.

-In the boiler room, Greta asks Victor what the hell just happened. Victor says it sounded like a large number of explosions. Greta wonders what is going on and then sees water filling in through the doors in front of them. She points the water out to Victor, who turns his head and says that the ship must be taking on water. Greta panics and tells Victor no one knows they are down there and they are near the bottom of the ship. Victor tells her not to panic. Greta begins to shake and cries out that they are going to die!!

Meanwhile, an unconscious Maggie lies against a wall a few yards away from the boiler room. Water is filling the area and is now reaching above Maggie's head...

-Back outside on the deck, Roman races over and asks what happened. Carrie says that pole was cracked and the explosions loosened it and forced it to fall. Austin pushed her and Evan out of the way and saved them. Kayla arrives with Belle, Kate, Jack, and Billie and begins to check him out as Roman and Lucas lift the pole off him. Kayla surveys Austin's body as a frantic Carrie asks her if he is ok. Kayla puts her head down and takes a deep breath. She then looks out, trying to prevent Carrie from seeing the tears welling in her eyes. She fights the tears back and tells Carrie that the pole crushed Austin's chest. He has massive internal injuries, among them being a collapsed lung. Carrie asks what she is saying. Kayla shakes her head and says she can't do anything more. There is nothing that can be done. A devastated Billie is in disbelief as Jack comforts her. Lucas comforts a crying Sami while a Kate, with tears streaming down her face, turns away, in shock over what is happening. Nicole looks on, also stunned at what is going on.

Carrie (crying): This can't be happening!! There has to be something...anything...

Roman embraces her. Austin stirs and his eyes open. He smiles at Carrie and those around him.

Roman: It's ok...Carrie...look!!

Carrie: Austin?

Austin (breathing somewhat heavy): It's ok...I'm ok. It doesn't hurt, really. It hurt at first but...now I feel numb.

Carrie: Aus...

Austin: Come on, guys...girls...don't cry. I hate seeing people cry. I think you all know that by now. (looks at Will crying) hey...come on. man. You and I go back a long way. I...thought I was your father at one time. You know I don't want no tears. Your mom and dad don't need that. No one does. Be strong for them and for everyone. Take...care of them.

Will (wiping his tears): I will. I love you, Uncle Austin.

Austin: Love you...too. (looks at Kate) Mom...what's with the sad face and the crying? That isn't the Kate Roberts I know.

Kate (crying): Austin...I'm so sorry. This is all...

Austin: No...it's ok. Mistakes are made. Don't...feel guilty...for my sake...don't blame yourself.

Kate: God...Austin...I do love you!! (comes close to Austin and lovingly touches his face and kisses it) I love you...

Austin: I do too...mom. Even after everything...I do too.

Austin looks around at Belle, Roman, Lucas, and Sami.

Austin: Hey, Roman, tell everyone to stop with the tears.

Roman: I don't think I can.

Austin: Well, then take care of them for me. My family...Carrie...Evan...and Belle, take care of your sisters and...

Belle (wiping a tear from her eye): Done. Don't worry.

Austin: Speaking of sisters and brothers...Sami...I am so...proud of you...what you have become. You...finally turned a corner. I just...wish...

Sami (fighting back tears): Thank you. That means alot coming from you.

Austin: A part of me will always...care...love...love you. I always knew that you would come around...I always saw the good in you. Same goes for you too, Nicole (looks at Nicole, who is standing by the wall a few inches away). Sami lost her...way many times...you have right now. There is still time to find...your way. You and I...were close. I saw the good...I still see it. Don't...give up. Just...know...I forgive you...despite everything...

Nicole is silent as tears well up in her eyes. She turns around, trying to hide the fact that she is breaking down.

Austin (turning back toward Sami): Promise me...you will take care of that son of yours. He's...very special. I should know.

Sami (crying): I will. I'm so sorry for all the pain I caused you. I kept you from Carrie for so...

Austin: It's...ok. Just take care of Carrie for me and Evan. Take care of yourself and...be happy. Please...you earned it. You...deserve it.

Sami: Thank you. I will always remember all the times you supported me and stood by me. I appreciate it all...a part of my heart will always belong to you...my first crush...and obsession.

Everyone laughs. Austin laughs but also cringes in pain.

Sami (crying): I...will miss you.

Austin (breathing heavy): Same here. (looks at Lucas) And...you! We certainly have had our share of sibling rivalry, have we?

Lucas: Sure have.

Austin: You know...what, man? I always respected you and loved you, despite all that. I...hope...you know that.

Lucas: I do and I felt the same way. I am glad we all buried the hatchet a few months ago. I don't know how I would feel...

Austin: I know...I feel...the same.

Lucas: All those issues...the tension...none of it matters...I just want you to know that I love you, bro.

Austin: Right back at you...oh, hey...same goes for you, man. Be happy. You deserve it...both you and Sami. Be...good to each other...and...please, watch...

Lucas: I will watch over Carrie and Evan. No problem.

Austin: Tha...nks. I know he may...be your...son...but...

Belle (pointing to some papers): Actually, we can find that out now, although it's bad timing. All the talk of all the problems between you and Lucas reminded me that I still had the DNA tests that Carrie had done to prove Evan was her son. Carrie had both Lucas and Austin's DNA tested with Evan's so this test also proves who the father is. We all got so caught up and things we never thought about it.

Kayla (taking the papers from Belle): I will look them over.

Carrie (wiping tears): Kayla? Well?

Kayla: Austin was a match...he is Evan's father.

Carrie embraces Austin, takes Evan from Sami and says:

Carrie (crying): Meet your daddy, Evan.

Austin (taking Evan's hand): Good to finally meet you, son.

Lucas: Congrats Austin. Evan is a lucky baby to have you as a father.

Sami: I second that.

Billie (crying): I agree

Austin: Thanks. Hey, sis...how did I almost forget you?

Billie: Your not supposed to leave like this...you have a son now and a wife...you finally got it...

Austin: Well, then, I guess I can be at peace with no...unfinished business (laughs).

Billie: Not funny. What am I going to do without you? It's always been you and me...you were all the family I had for so long...

Austin: Well, we have more then that now. You need to be...strong for them. Take care of them...and my family. Your my best friend, Billie...I love you and I don't...think I could've had a better sister.

Billie (crying): I don't think I could've had a better brother...I love you too. You should be staying her to take care of your family! They don't need me! They need you!

Austin (having trouble breathing): Stubborn, as usual. I...don't...think I have much...time. (looks at Carrie) I know that we've been through...

Carrie (crying): Alot? Yeah...all because of me. I'll never forgive myself...none of this...

Austin: Do you love me?

Carrie: Of course I...

Austin (short of breath): Then...don't bl...ame your...self. I said some...things...but...I never...stopped loving you. All...these years...just like I told you...you were always the one. Too bad...we finally had it right...I...thought...married...we even had... a son...

Carrie: I will tell him all about you. How good of man his daddy was. How he saved him and his mommy by...giving his life...

he will be so proud.

Austin (smiling): I...have...one more...thing to...s...ay...I want...you...to know...I forgive you...know that...be happy...don't be afraid...to love...ag...ain...take care of...Evan...and your...self. I...love...you...always...Ca...rrie.

Carrie (crying): I love you, too. (embraces Austin while holding Evan and then kisses Austin on the lips as his eyes slowly close).

Kayla (checking his pulse): He's gone.

Carrie breaks down on Austin's body while holding Evan, Lucas comforts a crying Sami, Roman and Belle embrace, Kate breaks down in tears and blames herself for her son's death, Nicole fights back tears and can't bear to turn around, and Jack comforts Billie, who blames this on Orpheus and races off to find and kill him. Jack races off after her. Roman sees this and tells Belle he needs to go get Billie and Jack. Roman orders Lucas to get everyone to the lifeboats and to take Austin's body. Lucas agrees as Roman kisses Belle, Sami, and Carrie and says it will all be ok. They will get through this. He also promises to find Marlena. He races off.

Meanwhile, a gun-toting Marlena is on the 3rd level of the ship, determined to find Orpheus so she can get him back for screwing up her plans.

The scene then shifts back on deck to Lucas, who helps load Carrie, who is holding Evan, a silent and stunned Nicole, a devastated Kate, Sami, Will, and Belle on to a life boat. Bo tells Kayla to get on the lifeboat but she refuses, saying they may need her help as a doctor and a good deal of her family is still on board. She isn't going. Bo decides not to argue. Bo appoints Lucas as the captain of that lifeboat and tells him to make sure things go smoothly as Shane is manning the first lifeboat. Lucas agrees and goes down with the second lifeboat as Bo shares with Hope his worry about his mother. Kayla is also worried as Roman is still out there too and Frankie and others.

--The scene shifts to the cabin room where Cal, Katherine, and Ernesto were. Katherine wakes up and checks on Ernesto. She shakes her head and says he is bleeding out and doesn't have much time. She races over to an unconscious Cal and begs him to wake up. Ernesto is dying and this may be his only chance to learn the whole truth about his past. Katherine begins to panic as Cal is not waking up...

The scene then shifts to Abe and Celeste, who continue to search for Lexie. Abe wants her to turn back but she refuses. The ship then rocks back heavily. They both fall backward into a cabin room. Abe asks Celeste if she is alright. She says she is and he helps her up just as someone closes the cabin door, locking them in. Abe and Celeste scream for help. Meanwhile, the camera pans around the corner to reveal...STEFANO. He picks up an unconscious Lexie and says that a Dimera must use whatever means necessary to complete a mission...and his mission is to keep her devoted to the Dimera's. She is the future and Abe and Celeste are in the way. This will rectify that and he says he will take her away where he can groom her and Theo to follow in his footsteps...as it should be...with no one standing in his way. He then carries her unconscious body off.

-The scene then shifts to Jack, who is chasing Billie. He finally catches up and tells her to calm down. She says that Orpheus is to blame for Austin's death and she wants him dead. He did all of this. They are both shocked when Orpheus comes out of a maintenance room. He is shocked to see them and comments on how they are two real big pain in the asses. They keep putting their noses and his business. Billie says that her brother's blood is on his hands. Orpheus laughs and says they all will be dead soon enough. He asks Billie if she would like to join her brother sooner. He aims his gun at them and orders them into the cabin room behind them. Jack and Billie refuse but Orpheus insists they will be dying anyway so why wait? Plus, he can't take any chances of them foiling his escape. He points the gun and and walks closer and closer to them, forcing them into the cabin room. He closes the door and locks it as Billie panics inside the room, asking Jack what they are going to do.

Orpheus walks away from the cabin room and is stopped by Roman. Orpheus laughs and says they meet again. He admits being pleased because he wants the honor of killing Roman all by himself. James then appears and tells Orpheus not so fast, aiming his gun right at Orpheus. James tells Orpheus that his reign of terror ends here as Roman finds himself caught in the middle while Jack and Billie watch from the cabin room.

The scene the shifts to Caroline, who is searching for Maggie and Victor frantically and is on the 2nd level of the ship. Meanwhile, Philip nears the boiler room and realizes he has to swim to get to it as the water is filling the bottom levels fast. He sees a body floating and swims over. It's Maggie!! Philip gives her mouth to mouth and she recovers. She asks what he is doing there. He says he knows his father is locked up in the boiler room and he needs to get him out. The ship is sinking. Maggie panics as swims over with Philip to the door. He tries to open it, to no avail.

In the boiler room, Victor tells Greta to calm down. Greta says she can't. The room is filling with water and it's over their waist now. They are going to die. Victor is silent and tells Greta she should've never came after him. He is nothing to her. Greta says she had to come after him. Victor says he knows he helped save Eric's life back at Christmas but he can't think of any other reason why she feels so strongly about risking her life to save his. Greta says she had to do it. Victor doesn't understand and asks what he is missing as she seems to be holding something back. Greta, realizing their lives could be coming to an end, says she is holding something back. Something has kept to herself for over a year. Victor asks what that is.

Greta: I don't want to die until I tell you...your...

Victor: Go ahead...

Greta (as tears well up in her eyes): Victor...YOUR MY FATHER!!!

The scene then freezes on a stunned Victor and then fades to black.
