Just a stab in the dark, pure speculation. How about Marlena comes home with one of her children on her mind and that being the child she and Alex North had. He was talking with someone by phone early on that she was too fragile for the truth and he would tell when the time came or some such. Of course, EJ is that child and he is in town to find his mommie and get acquainted with his sister, Sami first. That would be a way that Marlena and through her, John are involved with the black glove because in reality, Stefano has actually raised EJ for Alex and is also carrying out his plan. It could be interesting to see how Marlena wins her son and actually is able to have him on her side to conquer Stefano and Alex. Obviously Alex would need to be one of Stefano's first lines. EJ and Patrick along with Eve have been the black glove (I believe until proven wrong B) )
