Yes!!!

The 70s are my favorite decade for EVERYTHING, so I've been eagerly awaiting a round two of this! *crosses fingers for a Mary Hartman segment!*

Funny, of the three decades that they have done, the one they obsess the most over (the 80s) is my least favorite, while the one they obsess the least over is my absolute favorite.

I'm loving it. Looking forward to "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" on I Love 1976!

I truly do looooooove the 70s. The 90s come in second place because those were my years growing up and they truly bring back memories. The 80s are terribly overrated. And damn, they've done THREE of those things, but they didn't do "Knots Landing" in any of them.

I really hope for just one thing.

Let them please play If You Leave Me Now by Chicago when they do 1976. That was the biggest hit that year, and I was ticked they didn't do a segment on the song or the group the first time.

I think they went really overboard with the 80s stuff. That didn't make any sense. 3 of them? And I aslo agree, the 90s didn't deserve 2 specials either.

I'm surprised that the Mary Tyler Moore show didn't cut it the first time around. That was like one of the biggest shows in the early 70s.

The first time around, the 80s were cool. Then, during the second time, they were pushing it. But the third was totally unnecessary. I also liked seeing the 90s b/c that's when I was a child, so I knew most of what they were talking about, but the second one was pointless.

I think they need to do the 60s. It would be hysterical if VH1 brought on these drugged up hasbeens trying to remember 60s pop culture. Or the 50s:

"Drive-ins were like THE THING TO DO on a Saturday night! You put on your poodle skirt and your saddle shoes, Jimmy gets out his leather jacket, cuffed jeans, greases his hair with enough Brylcream to leave stains on the pillow, and you watch a movie in your car. Then you go to Lovers Lane and have mad sex."

I can totally see that.

My only gripe about these shows is that WHY do they have some people talking about the 70s when they weren't even AROUND during the decade?

ITA! I've never ever been a fan of Michael Ian Black. He annoyed me on the very first "I Love the 80s" and he has annoyed me ever since. Mo Rocca's not as bad as him, but he's extremely annoying too.

And oh my god Bree...I was talking to someone about that a few days ago. Couldn't you imagine it if they did "I Love the 50s?" And they had someone like Hilary Duff get on there and be like..."Oh my Gosh! We had a 50s day in elementary school! And I wore my grandma's poodle skirt!"

No.

Don't do a 50's version. All those 80-year-old people slobbering all over the place. They would spend half the special waking these people up.

But it would be fun. :D

And also, where was The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman? This is now the second time they haven't been on.

They've missed a lotta important TV shows this go round, IMO. The summary for I Love 1976 that my onscreen shows said that they'd do "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" and the TV movie "Sybil," but they did not.

Did they do "Rhoda" for 1974? Because that was also listed, but I don't remember a segment on it.

AND DAMMIT! Would it have killed them to do something on soaps? Hell, they could have just talked about them all collectively.

    • Thanks for sharing; the set, wow. Ten times better than the "penthouse" she lives in now (is that a surprise, though?).
    • I'd be happy to!

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.

    • I was incredibly moved by these scenes, especially Peter's performance. It felt so tender and real, especially when you remember Bo just got out of a years-long coma and wasn't going to be able to put up a front. You're reminded of how long these legends have populated the show when you have a 70 year old man grieving men who were almost 90 or 100, but Bo's response to Victor's death was a poignant reminder of how fresh these wounds are no matter your age. Normally these types of moments don't even make it in soap episodes in recent decades as they are seen as too boring. The more somber moments being balanced by Bo meeting his grandchildren was also lovely.  And the scene where Bo forgave Shawn may be the only time I've been in lock with Brandon Beemer's take on the part.  There's a certain element of suffocation with soaps, as shown here, when you remember so many of the kids are named after long dead relatives, or when they grew up, were paired with the kids of other longtime characters. That aspect always makes me yearn for new blood (new blood that doesn't suck, anyway), but there are other moments, like those with Bo, which make me appreciate all the history the show has.
    • A funny scene, Roger and Sonni go out to eat, at that place that had a colonial theme (I love when soaps have very specific places to eat..I hated the diners on GL, ATWT and AW) and this is just after Rog came back and Sonni hit the headlines and the waitress scremes.."Oh, Roger Thorpe, and YOUR...please dont' hurt me..." and they are all like, "Hey, were just hungry!" (most soaps now have someone go on a murder spree and the rest of the cast and extras look like they havent heard about it."
