It was such a wasted opportunity, too, from what I remember being discussed here. Good wiggle room in the timeline and could have been used to bring back an old family that the audience would still know.

I'm not so sure about that. Maybe, if Stuart Brooks still had been in town when we were introduced to Dina, and Bill Bell had established that the two had been high school sweethearts - which he didn't, AFAIK, but maybe he did? - then I could've gone along with it. But it all seemed so random and tryhard for a newbie who didn't really need the ties to Y&R history.

Think Billy looks better with shorter hair-Nikki with the bouffant - not so much.

Nikki’s hair was awful. It seems like the stylist at Y&R likes to take the most risks with Nikki’s looks. It’s always either a hit or miss. This one was definitely a miss.

Nikki looked like she was on her way to Mar-A-Lago

now Phyllis is gonna use Matt Clark to bargain with the Newmans?.. oh my god make it stop. They just wrote this very same scenario when Jack brought Matt Clark to Victor. Why can’t they ever come up with new plots?

Outside of the AI storyline, the story roots are there right now for The Young and the Restless, but things are just not... pushed enough. Visually, they're on it.

Matt Clark should have been killed off before this. Griffith never knows when to get rid of a villain, always giving us 3 or 4 rounds.

This Matt Clark stuff with him not knowing who he is? It's all so bad.

There were quite a few people hoping that a Prentiss would show up if I remember correctly, but alas.

Theo definitely didn't need a tie. He could have just been a scoundrel that made Kyle feel insecure or regress back to the bad boy Kyle was when he came back to town which was nice to see after all those recasts. But since they established it, they really could have used it. But I know...Y&R can't dig tooooooooo far into its past.

Matt flew from Las Vegas to Genoa City without his wallet and without knowing his own name. Think about that for a moment. . .

Lazy writing.

I'm sure Josh Griffith would just shrug and say, "Relax, it's just a soap!"

The “it’s just a soap” excuse only goes so far.. especially for a show like Y&R where the bar was always set so high. I’d be willing to go along with that with shows like Passions or even Days but it’s never been Y&R’s style to be this sloppy.. and I enjoy the campy, silly stuff in soaps too don’t get me wrong. I just wish these writers respected these soaps individual identities instead of just trashing their legacy to get a little bump in ratings here and there.

The problem is that they never even told a real story to begin with so it all felt like it was wrapped up and completed within the few weeks with that car chase in L.A (or whatever that was). So when Matt kept popping back up after that.. everyone’s like, why is he still here? If they played all the right beats and had a slow build up to his reveal, etc then I could totally see him being on screen for months more to come. It was just executed so poorly from the jump that it doesn’t make any sense to still have him.

At least it wasn't like General Hospital where Maxie and Peter drove from Port Charles, New York, to Switzerland in the same night. 🤣
