AW

Taylor Miller coming back to daytime after her success as Nina on AMC.

And taking on the role of Sally AW's most popular heroine at the time.

After a year Taylor was outta there and Sally was killed.

Maybe if Taylor had played a new role and not a recast it might have worked. But the odds were stacked against her.

Taylor also had a confused, ill-fated return to AMC where she reunited with Cliff (again) only for him to be "killed," then he came back, but she was with Matt, then he left again, and she left again. The story is very drab, and Taylor lacks chemistry with Michael Tylo (as many did aside from Lisa Brown), although from what I saw Taylor did her best.

I remember reading somewhere that when Taylor was asked back in 1989, she was disappointed to learn it was just for Cliff's rushed exit. And other than various guest appearances, that was it for the character.

It seemed like the show just gave up on Nina after using her so heavily in the '80s, instead starting over from scratch with Palmer and Opal.

I think if they'd tried, they could have found a new chapter for her without Cliff, but I guess they felt she was used up.

Cliff and Nina were married fairly quickly-within a year or so of appearing. That was the first misstep.

Then the break up story with Steve Jacobi leading to divorce #1. But the rest of the time seemed to be ill  conceived stories that put them in a cycle of make and break up.

The Nina recasts were duds. They kept Cliff around for years. Maybe Cliff and Nina should have been written out when Taylor first left, with the option of bringing back Taylor or a recast, now widowed/divorced to move on with Nina.

Cliff only existed as an extension of Nina.

GH:

AJ Quartermaine in 2012.. Such great comeback and he was settled in well and was positioned great for future stories but yeah. Never happened lol

B&B:

Taylor’s 2005 return was just a stunt and nothing really came from it.
