Is Deception a serious business or is it comedic relief?

It should be both. I recall when it came back it was a mix of that. And then under other writers it seem like it would be leaning serious. And I didn't even mind HandH. At first. Now I just roll my eyes.

I feel like the show has had trouble writing Lucy-related storylines for quite a while now. It's like the writers understand that she's a comic character, but have no idea what tone to go for. And then putting Brook Lynn into the Deception context doesn't work at all, because she's such a wet blanket.

The show currently plays Lucy without layers.  She's quirky and silly, but that's not all Lucy is.  It's all one note.  We are missing the tender, caring side of Lucy that she showed with her children.  We are missing how she cultivated great friendships.  We are missing the savvy lady who had goals and desire to have her business succeed without compromising her beliefs.  It's like wacky is all she does now.

And, yes, BLQ is a wet blanket.  Setton has had good comedic timing in other roles so I assume she could get that back.

It's almost like Maxie is the only one that takes it seriously lol

Not going to lie, it feels like the heart of Lucy was stripped away when the 'writer' brought her back, and no regime has thought, "Well hey, we should probably put this back in!" This is where returning Christina Baldwin (now going by "Christy" or "Tina") would come in handy. Seeing Lucy in 'mom mode'. Hell, even when Scotty was on canvas, they could have found a way to bring back in Serena, too. Instead, we got Willow Tait and Sasha Gilmore, and then Scotty's retconned child: Franco.

They did alright with Lucy when she first came back IMO, minus the terrible vampire story with ME. I was thrilled when she and Kevin reunited. Why they had to break them up again is beyond me, as it was long before RC's firing and Genie's contract return.

They'll never reunite them again now with Kevin chained to Laura and FV clearly unwilling to invest in any other major new love interest for Genie, so Lucy gets whatever random stuff they can throw at her instead as leftovers. She should be much more important and integral, but then both Lucy and Laura should. At least Laura had several years of that more recently, whereas Lucy has been a comic afterthought for over a decade.

I do like that Deception has become so important, but not everyone needs to work there nor should it seem so low-rent. Nor should Lucy constantly be the butt of the joke in those scenes while BLQ is shined up.

I actually liked the talk between Lois & Flora. It  does seem like the ideas were mainly Gloria.
It does seem Lois and BL will come together again
Really liked Portia with Isiah and Willow
So Martin found a letter addressed to Monica
It's time for Sonny to go
Loved Lucas

I just thought about something. Portia ordered Drew's medical records, did she ever really look at them. I have a wild theory of how she's going to get out of this.

LOL, I'm probably so off the mark, but I think Portia is going to realize that Drew is not who he says he is.

Noooooo I don’t want to lose a Quartermaine. Even if he sucks. It’s nice having an evil Quartermaine.

Speak on it. So true. There have been a few times that Lynn uplifts the material, but then it's back to being silly.

Never thought I would see the day where SHE is the mature one.

And speaking of Laura above...here's a thought...if we are not seeing Kevin any time soon...Laura...AND ERZA??

I am glad the show still wants to use Lucy and I like the use of Deception in general.  But I agree it makes Lucy look silly and useless when she has years of experience while Brook is the voice of reason with her degree in...singing?  While Lucy has been managing cosmetic companies for 30 years.

I don't know why Deception is always struggling as well with everyone working there.  Probably the lack of the OG face of Deception not being around lol.

To give Maxie credit, I feel like she has always been serious about her jobs going back to Crimson.
