“I don’t know if it was meant to be a secret — so I don’t want to step on their toes — but I came back a little bit later because I couldn’t be there for those scenes,” Sweeney revealed. “They arranged for me to do it a week later, maybe two weeks later. I do come in and have scenes about John, but my timing was a little bit off after all of that.”

Sweeney admitted that it was “hard” not to be with her Days of Our Lives cast to film the poignant scenes.

“We knew when we were filming the scenes that it wasn’t going to air [until] six months from now and we’re going to have these feelings all over again and that’s sort of what’s happening,” she said. “I’m watching these scenes on TV and seeing all the comments on social media. And we’re reliving it, so that’s really hard.”

“mourning doesn’t always happen [when] everyone gets together on one day.” She added, “Sometimes, that’s an ongoing thing. Having Sami come back and share those moments with Marlena, like a week later or something, allows us to tell that story.”

Sweeney said tenderly, “I’m really glad that I got to be a part of it in the way that I was, it felt very real.”

Matt says he was at the studio in the other room watching some of the funeral scenes on the monitor as it was being filmed.  But doesn't specify if Jack and Jennifer appear at the funeral or not.

UPDATE:
We were told by Access Hollywood piece that the funeral airs Monday June 9 and Tuesday June 10.
But we can see from the daily spoilers that the funeral continues into Wednesday June 11.

Re: all the batches of photos listed for Tuesday June 10 --
Some of those scenes didn't air on that date.
(especially the Bo and Hope scenes)

speculation: I wonder if episodes were split because there was so much to air?

Bo and Hope arrive at John’s memorial service just as it’s winding down, and Bo gets to have a poignant face-to-face with Marlena.

“When he walks into the memorial service, everybody is about to leave. The service is about to break up,” recounts Reckell. Bo then makes his way to Marlena. “I go to Dee [Hall, Marlena],” the actor continues.

We have like two sentences, and it’s just us looking at each other. And, as always with her, the connection is immediate and deep and powerful. I’m looking into her eyes and seeing the pain in them, and she’s looking into mine.”

The scene reminded Reckell of one he’d shared with Hall decades ago that was equally as powerful and emotional. “It was when Bo had to tell Marlena that Roman had passed away in the story,” says Reckell, referencing a 1984 DAYS plotline. “That connection with the two of us has always been there”

**** Note: this SOD article says that Bo flies from Greece to Salem for John's memorial.
We know that's an error (or perhaps the show is confused.)
@JAS0N47 has spoken with the show's publicist who said that Bo is in a hospital in Salem.
(perhaps the show/writers were confused? Maybe Bo has recently been in a hospital vaguely in the region of Salem? ? ? ?)

As said above

• Access Hollywood said the funeral would air June 9 & 10,
  but the funeral actually aired June 9, 10 & 11.  
  Their preview video included some funeral footage, so perhaps that entire Access Hollywood segment that that recently aired, was filmed back in September.
• *A few* of the spoiler pics that multiple outlets (including SOD) announced as being for Tues. June 10, actually aired Wed. June 11.  Since multiple outlets made that error, I speculate that the photos were correctly labeled by JPI Photography Studios as being for a specific episode at the time of filming, but some of the scenes were *maybe* later split/rearranged during the editing process into different episodes.  

Nobody's fault about the dates confusion. A lot of cast/crew/staff/writers were all grieving; and also adjusting for the returns of actors and various last-minute circumstances. The funeral was filmed just before Drake died, and then the scenes were edited after he died.  😢 
How any of the cast/crew/staff were even functional is amazing.
