GH: Legacy role allegedly being recast

Robert Adamson in a since deleted tweet revealed that Michael is currently being recast and he (thankfully) wasn't invited to test again. Chad Duell apparently just wiped the show from his bios on social as well

The character is definitely needed IMO, too bad they already missed out on Billy Flynn.

I am sorry for Robert (I guess he won't ever be asked to temp for the part again...), but I do get why they might want a completely clean slate.

This is a hugely important role to recast, as he's so integral to the future of the two sides of GH that take up much of their airtime. I hope they get it right. They've gotten more right lately in casting than wrong, with a few exceptions.

I hope they may be willing to hire someone brand new to daytime, even to primetime, rather than hoping a name from another show will be enough.

With that said, I agree Billy Flynn could have been good.

It's disappointing he wasn't invited to take the role, as he has been my dream recast for Michael for the longest of times⏤even as a fan of Chad Duell. However, I don't see Frank Valentini as someone to hire pinch-hitters full-time into the role (i.e., Adam Huss as Nikolas). I feel Robert Adamson's frustration, given how he was likely treated on all three occasions he pinch-hit for Duell, likely at the request of Valentini/GH/ABC, etc.

However, a recast does not surprise me; when Duell announced his exit in November 2024, Valentini responded they were not recasting "at this time", which suggested to me a recast was on the agenda at some point. So, I am not surprised if they're cooking up plans to recast the role. Ultimately, Adamson would be my selection⏤however, even without his now-deleted tweet, I did not see Valentini bringing him on full-time, given the perceived M.O. of Valentini (and online chatter).

Long overdue. I am surprised Frank went for it, I thought he would hold the role indefinitely out of some misguided loyalty.

Chad used to be very good early on - and rarely given much good material in his prime years after the Guza team left - but he had been over the role and sleepwalking for many years. I would keep Michael gone a bit longer, but it is time for a recast.

I would've kept Drew Garrett, but there is too much smoke surrounding his abrupt exit not for something to have gone wrong BTS we don't know about. I do think Chad was very good when he took over. But now both aren't a factor.

    • Frank Valentini should thank his proverbial lucky stars that JE came out of retirement.
    • I liked Reva, too, but as I've said before, no one at that show besides Pamela K. Long knew how to write for her or for KZ.  You don't plunge a character who is OTT by design into circumstances that are equally (or more) OTT.  The trick with a character like Reva Shayne Lewis is to keep the storylines as down-to-earth as possible and allow her emotions to be bigger.  I've always said that both Reva and KZ were at their finest when they were dealing with relatively mundane things like Josh's paralysis, her marriage to H.B. and her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage.
    • I agree!  AE was just one of those performers who could draw you in, no matter what.  I don't believe I ever saw her phone in any performance on any show.  To me, she always gave 100%.  God, how I miss seeing her on TV every day.
    • Did OLTL have books in 80's like the other soaps that covered the early storylines of the show?
    • I liked (not loved) the character of Reva. I just didn't like how she ate the show.
    • I’ve spent a lot of time at the bedside of dying family members. These hospital scenes feel very real. The entire Days team is doing incredible work.

    • LOL!  Yeah that makes sense, it seems like many soaps have that one character like this.  I do find it sad the other vets just sit around in the later years.
    • WOW!!!   Just amazing.  Her acting was topnotch and this was only an audition.  I was totally drawn into the scene!  I seriously wanted to know what happens next!
    • Even if you put the rape and the fact he was married to her sister for so long, it's a bit hard for me to buy EJ/Belle have strong feelings for one another.  They've known one another for years and years and there was never any indication they were attracted to each other until recently.  Then the first time they hooked up EJ immediately dumped her, went on to marry Nicole and steal her own brother's baby, then slept with Gabi.  I don't see any appeal for Belle here outside the obvious. I do think MM and DF have nice chemistry though. On a different note, what is on Belle's shirt?  Are they people running, crawling, riding bikes, in wheelchairs, all of the above?  The shirt is so distracting.  Worn on TV wasn't much help as I still couldn't get a close up picture.
