Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame, Days of our Lives

The Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday that “Days of our Lives” is one of several to be honored at this year’s awards gala, taking place Tuesday, September 30 in New York City.

The daytime drama series, which is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary season, will be recognized with the Iconic Show Award.

Individual honorees to be inducted into the class of 2025 include talk show host Drew Barrymore (“The Drew Barrymore Show”); George Cheeks, co-CEO, Paramount Global and CEO, CBS; Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, ESPN, who is set to receive the Chairman’s Award; actress Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”), who will receive the Humanitarian Award in recognition of her career as well as her philanthropic work via the DIVA Foundation; Michael Gelman, “Live with Kelly and Mark” executive producer; and Melani Griffith, Chief Growth Officer, Google Fiber, who will receive the Technology Leadership Award, among others.

The Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame class of 2025 joins the ranks of over 400 previous honorees, including Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil McGraw, Michael Powell, the cast of “The View,” and Disney CEO Robert A. Iger, among others.

One of the longest-running scripted television programs in the world, airing five days each week, year-round, first on NBC from its inception on November 8, 1965 through September 9, 2022, “Days of our Lives” became a Peacock exclusive streaming series on September 12, 2022, marking a first for daytime television. Outside of the United States, the show airs in many foreign territories, including Canada and Australia.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized and part of such an acclaimed group. It is a fitting tribute as we approach our 60th Anniversary, also this fall,” said the show in a statement released to Soap Opera Network.

The series was created by the late Ted and Betty Corday, and since 1981, their son, Ken Corday, has been at the helm as the show’s executive producer and music composer.

“The 33rd Annual Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame Awards Gala” will take place Tuesday, September 30 at New York’s Ziegfeld Ballroom (141 W. 54th St).
