Well I did tune in to see the Willow vs Carly catfight. And yeeeah that was good. I've been wanting Carly to slap the taste out of her mouth since Michael got burned. YES, CARLY please GET...ON...THE...LOOSE.

I did like seeing Diane give Alexis the hard truth that Kristina should have been committed ages ago. Still running around town calling that baby by the wrong name. Also good to see Liz and Ric are okay.

While I'm here I do hate that it seems like Michael is quickly recovering off-screen. I would have had him in a coma off-screen so that when the inevitable recast happen, he could just shock/surprise folk after six months of pulling manipulate strings behind the scenes.

And I do find it funny that NOW the New/Old writers want to poke at Sonny's friendship with Laura and Anna given that PM did a better job of that very thing by dissolving the friendships in his run because he saw the illogicalness of it in the first place. So...the side-eye.

Pretty much. And while I thought KS was actually okay as the wound-tight Kate in her early months, everything about her performance as Connie was totally embarrassing. But it's exactly the kind of campy, OTT 'tour de force' Frank and RC often loved. Until they got other stars (Maura West) and lost interest!

Megan was wonderful as Kate but every time she's returned as Ghost Connie I've found her dreadful. In fairness the material is pretty bad.

I don't think Kelly Sullivan is awful.  Her material was and she's what? a decade younger than LW and VM who are supposed to also be significantly younger than Sonny.  It was just an odd casting choice.

Listen, with Ghost Connie I just think Megan Ward is tanking it because she pissed off she got fired for no reason in the first place.

Very. I always liked Megan Ward as an actress and to see her on a soap...I liked. She was definitely a different kind of woman for Sonny than I was used to. And different from Brenda who, along with Carly, will always reign supreme above all of Sonny's many women. The fact that the writers finally created a woman who stood out for those two was a marvel. And then it went to Hades.

I adored Megan Ward's Kate and her amazing haircut.  I am surprised she didn't ever end up on another soap.  It really was a refreshing change for Sonny and it felt like he considered her an equal.  I always wondered what MW did because it's clear they put her backstory onto Olivia and dropped Kate.  It still makes no sense there was a second teenage love for Sonny in Bensonhurst lol.

Yeah.  RH at least gets to come back.  They completely bypassed MW when Kate came back for KSu.  It's clear she was willing.  I have no evidence, but I feel like MW had to have made someone mad behind the scenes.

She was fabulous.  I don't even know what you are talking about lol.  The character of Kate in itself gave me a side eye due to everything we previously knew about Sonny, but I thought MB and MW had great chemistry.  Outside of Alexis, it felt like the first time Sonny had a mature romance where he wasn't lying or protecting chaos monsters like Carly and Brenda.  That isn't a shade on my two lovely ladies.  Kate (pre-Sullivan) just felt more stable as a partner for Sonny.

Not your calling Brenda a "chaos monster". Vanessa Marcil would be very hurt by your words. And hey, I thought Benard and Sullivan had good chemistry, despite the erratic writing.

And then there was the blink-and-miss Jax and Kate hookup.

    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.
