Jason and Carly absolutely flopped in 2021, lol. The actors have been very open recently about how unpopular it was, and it hasn't exactly been a secret (to anyone but Liz Korte) that the actors have never had sexual chemistry for the last 20 years. The show derailed last spring when they tried it again - something I think Patrick Mulcahey should've gotten hazard pay for walking in having to attempt to redo as the pairing's creator, but without Sarah Brown - not only because it just doesn't work with LW but because nothing was working BTS. Then Frank and Korte put her with that dayplayer (Brennan) to give her something to do, and have fumbled about with Jason with Sasha who's half his age and Anna who should have nothing to do with him, and from there here we are.

There is no complex long-form story bible being played out on this show - anywhere, with anyone. There is no intricate slow burn couple. Jason and Carly are not laying in the wings waiting to happen and there is zero evidence of it onscreen, nor has there been for at a minimum six to eight months. It is not happening. As a result of trying to go back to that well briefly this time last year and flopping again, they just don't know what they're doing with either character period. Both Brennans are a triage/cheap stopgap pairing for Carly as a result. And the Jason stuff is just as bad.

Maybe if they just show the audience lots of fanedits it'll help.

Exactly.  Carly, Jason, and Sonny are just floating along with no plan.  I am sure at some point they will just default back to Carly/Sonny.   Jason/Carly are not any sort of endgame pairing lol.

I don't know what the show should do with Jason.  It's creepy that Jason's two romantic options right now are either his ex-gf's mom or the girl his surrogate son knocked up.

I just fell over, almost out of my chair laughing at the very idea of any complexity or long-form or show bible. However, I do believe that Korte is leading now, for the first time & liking it with Van Etten going along & just letting her make decisions. I also believe she loves Jason, Carly & Jarly. Does that mean something/anything IS going to be tried? LOL!!! Are you kidding?!! Maybe if I hadn't watched this show then MAYBE I might think that. The way they write, nyah, I just can't. However, I do have a strong appreciation that they have changed both Carly's & Jason's perspectives with regard to Sonny.

Fire him.

Am I correct in assuming Sonny and Natalia still haven't kissed? If so that is deliberate and can only mean Mo doesn't want it, they know it's unpopular and are regrouping or both. But hey, I am sure Frank thinks the magic of Sidwell and the Sidwell/Ramirez family dynasty will solve everything for another interminably boring 2-3 years so he can hold onto Eva LaRue.

The show has survived without Jason before.

I don't think Sonny/Natalia have kissed.  They just flirt a little bit here and there.  I can image Mo isn't terribly keen on it-if only for the fact that Eva La Rue is visibly taller than him.  Tbh, I don't know what story would appease Mo.  He seems to hate everything except the idea of Brenda returning.  Has he even liked a story besides Nixon Falls in the last decade?

This is *very* oversimplified but ... per state and federal employment laws (as they currently exist before politicians might gut them in the future) ...
Those employment laws say that if someone is injured or ill or newly-disabled, and cannot do their regular job duties, then the employer should find them a parallel job working for the same employer.
For example, a contract employee is injured doing forklift work in a warehouse then he/she is reassigned to a new job doing office work for the same company.
I speculate that Disney has an internal corporate policy to do something like that if one of their theme park employees is injured.

I know they don't want to fire MB from acting on GH, due to his mental health disability, for example that he became suicidal during the months of COVID inactivity.   But can ABC/Disney find him something else to do which he'd find meaningful/fulfilling?  Disney is huge.  There has to be something he'd feel good about, in which he could contribute to life and find meaning.

I really don't think Disney owes Maurice some unrelated menial job, though the idea of Mo working a forklift is sending me right now.

Maurice has been paid very, very well for decades. They are free to let him go at any time. It's not an industrial college or work release program. Do I think they will let him go? No.

Probably.  It's not like he's even actively tanking the Natalia pairing.  He just clearly doesn't care and like the audience knows this romance is extremely temporary.

I really used to think even if you loved or hated Jason that he drove story.  He is not doing that now.  Honestly, he had more interesting stuff to do on Days as Harris.

I don't think they are keeping MB because of his mental health issues only.  I honestly doubt MB's employment has ever been in question in the last 20 years by TPTB at least.  If Frank or whoever wanted Sonny or Mo gone he would have been sidelined like the show did with KeMo/Sam for years before cutting the cord.

I think Steve is giving it more effort this time around.

    • Wasn't it even framed as Monica wanting Jeff out of the way so she could be with Rick?
    • As you all know, my memories are sketchy, and at the time of this story, GH was probably at its most awful in its history.  I think Patsy Rahn was still playing Monica at this time, and her Monica was not written as a sympathetic character, so maybe that's why the viewers were able to forgive Steve, because it appears Steve was more interested in saving Jeff's life than Rick-infatuated Monica was.

Agreed.  Again, I really like the pace of the mystery. RonC always wrote a shocking crime, then it would be solved only through exposition at the end.  I feel like the audience is being shown some respect by them carefully closing all the loopholes.  For example, having Shawn-D call Rafe to turn in his gun was a clever device to get Gabi to confess. As much as I agree with @carolineg about the odd shift in Sophia's character, this plot is starting to make me angry.  A woman is denied an abortion and forced to raise a child?  It is gross.  The stomach pains are a hopeful foreshadowing.  But, if she fakes pregnancy, or hides his miscarriage, I am going to scream!!! Roman continues to be a mench, but I have to admit that I can never keep track of the difference between Max and Benjy.  I guess it helps that Benjy is dead.  Is Max still related to Carly?
    • If Sally Field had been more generous about the writing I would say that her assessment is really very fair. I found Soapdish very funny. The cast is great. Delirious with John Candy and Mariel Hemingway (and Emma Samms!) came out the same year and I had expected to prefer Delirious, but Soapdish is one that I can watch repeatedly.
    • I love SOAPDISH but I think TOOTSIE is better. Generally I am quite fond of gender-benders. VICTOR, VICTORIA, most favorite.
    • On GL we only saw young GA's Philip in very short shorts but on AMC we saw GA's Alec McIntyre in a speedo.  But, on GL, an older GA/Philip is having sex with Olivia in a hotel room where Bruce Barry was directing & he & she both end up down to nothing but black underwear & at one point his bicep is covering her entire upper body so it appears that she is naked. I think they ended up on the floor between the bed & the wall. That was when I realized that Grant's body was better than Steve Burton's. (Olivia was cheating. Her husband Alan was in the hospital.) It is notable that I can speak with any insight AT ALL about these bodies since that is not the team I play for! LOL
    • I mentioned that last week and I am glad Tate and Sophia just realized that today lol.  I think the show is just tying up some of Ron's loose ends.   You would think Brady, Holly or even Marlena would have perhaps pointed out the age thing to Tate at some point. I am not sure I like this shift in Sophia's characterization though.  MK played Sophia as someone who always defied her mom's rules-she just didn't get caught.  She was openly trying to steal Tate from Holly with no shame, showing up at the Horton cabin in bikinis to seduce him, and blackmailing Holly to work all her shifts at the Bistro.  Once the recast started the show has acted like Sophia's lived in her room, sheltered her entire life lol.
    • I thought Dante was going to put hands on Gio
    • If Jordan never appeared again, I would absolutely not notice or miss her.  So, while Brook Kerr has her flaws, she at least appears to have a pulse and a personality as Portia.
    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
