Another lousy Jamey episode. And once again, way too many flashbacks for an only 32 minute episode.

Ron was fired. Can this even worse, waste of life finally be fired too?

I might care about this cupcake thing if it wasn’t written like such a big, stupid joke, but just like with Biscuit-gate, I don’t. It’s such a waste of everybody’s talent and makes a mockery of the hard work that they put in every single day.

I don’t really care about the new Lady Whistleblower spoiling Body&Soul either, even though I wouldn’t mind if Leo accusing Javi pushes him into someone else’s (Mark, Kerry, anybody) arms. And I wonder if Ron cared as much as Leo did about his Days work being spoiled.

Javi’s shirt was nice though. And actually, so was Roman’s. Those are things that I would wear.

And btw, me every time that Javi propped Leo

Kerry is the hunky guy who tried to seduce Leo in a single episode appearance over the summer that got way too much attention.

Biscuit-gate refers to the time that Jada's sister Talia spiked the biscuits at Sweet Bits with a potion that got people all revved up, and resulted in Eric getting Nicole pregnant with Jude.

My objection to the cupcake drama is that it seems to be setting up another silly story to coincide with Doug's passing.  They never seem to get the tone correct.

When you all watch the show can you see the redness on everyone's skin and the orangey make up on Chanel and Jada, or do I just have bad settings on my tv?

Also, with all the slurring of his words that Josh Taylor does, if Roman had a stroke, would we be able to tell the difference?

Three consecutive episodes of Leo

Does Marlena even get that many consecutive episodes? Honestly, I only see this as more proof that if Ron really wanted something done, he could get it done no matter what and that every excuse we ever got was bullshit.

Today was a bit of an improvement over yesterday and Monday though. The script was clearly in the hands of a real writer. Even the dialogue itself seemed more intelligent and mature.

I’m still liking Rafe and Jada’s storyline, even though I wish he had stayed on as a detective, at least for a little while. That way this all could be built up for a while and culminate into something explosive. I also wouldn’t mind it if he sued the city either.

JJ and Gabi’s scenes were really nice too. I like the way that their relationship is being built up. The two of them being the decoys in Chad and Cat’s plan to get Clyde could be really interesting as well. And that could be a good way to bring the two of them back together. Hopefully, they’ll somehow weave EJ back into this as well. Btw, where was Cat going with that Snooki poof?

And, WTG, Javi!! You can do so much better than that selfish, washed up old douche! Contrary to how Javi described Leo today, that’s exactly what he is. It sucks that this is probably only gonna be temporary, but it was great seeing Javi tell Leo off and seeing him walk away like an idiot. Javi/Al Calderon deserves a lot better than a pairing with Days’ worst character.

The only thing I’ll give the Javi/Leo pairing is that it’s not as utterly repulsive as Dimitri/Leo. That was, hands down, one of the worst and grossest pairings I’ve ever seen.

And yeah, if they’re gonna keep writing Leo as though he’s this young, irresistible twink, they really needed to (sorry, Greg Rikaart) cast someone a lot younger.

Have any of you clocked all of the crossed arms? An Acting 101 no-no. When you're blocking off your solar plexus, your center, by crossing your arms, you're blocking off your gut vulnerability and connection to your scene partners, qualities that make for riveting acting. It's indicative of control, actors who are focused on the lines, acting from the head up, in their brains opposed to in their hearts. My boyfriend thinks the acting and writing on DAYS sucks across the board. All he sees is subpar acting and dialogue, and to me, it boiĺs down to the rush job machine of soaps today. They need more rehearsal.

Today's ep was mostly forgettable.

It is the little things that always annoy me.  Like, why did Jada ask Rafe if he had reconsidered quitting after a good night's sleep, when they share a bed, and she could've asked him at home?

Otherwise, nothing happened, except we learned that Kayla hasn't left the hospital in days

How would anyone even know if Javi/Leo are a good or bad couple?  They've had like 14 scenes total.  We missed any sort of relationship build.  And I think Leo being too old is the least of this story's problems.  It went from flirty point A to full on relationship point D in one episode.

I also think it would be really weird for Jada to hound her personal partner all day and all night about his decision to leave the force.  She gave him space to reconsider like a normal human being in a long term relationship?

There are a lot of signs that suggest it lol

If everything’s written like a bigger than usual joke, if the episode is short but still feels rushed, if there’s unnecessary fluff and flashbacks, if people are drunk, horny, or acting out of character, if someone’s explanation/justification is weak or stupid, if historical facts are randomly mentioned, if there’s a *wink wink* to a cancelled soap, if Leo’s in drag, if someone gets handcuffed to a bed, if The Real Housewives or Drag Race is mentioned…

Rushing something always ruins it.

    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun!
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
    • On this day 34 years ago the final episode of Dallas and came in at an astonishing #2 in the ratings after two straight seasons of weak ratings. Interesting Knots was #27 for that week as well:

    • Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't watching GL regularly yet at that point, but seems to me I should have remembered the big wedding after Leslie's death (which I do remember) described in the profile. Is there a web archive of SOD summaries, or are referring to your own personal collection?
    • I was bummed that 2.0 ended because Mcpherson (headwriter) had really set up some interesting stories and we never got to find out where the stories would go once they resumed production on 'season 2'. I remembered the EP (Ginger Smith) and a lot of the stars gave a lot of credit to McPherson being able to come in on very short notice and come up with stories/plots (I think it was a very short turnaround time of a few weeks).  It was nice that she got to redeem herself after her year long Days stint was not well reviewed/liked.

    • It seems like a setup for failure to review a single episode of a soap, but Cleveland Amory was a foolish man.  His taste was so predictable, that one wondered why bother reviewing a medium he so clearly disliked. (found on Facebook retro TV group) Another case in point of his misogyny from his review of Dark Shadows (Can you imagine the magazine with the widest circulation in the country insulting its customer in this way today?)

    • They could easily be re-created, or even re-shot in different ways, especially if they were re-shooting scenes at some point, as well.
    • The Ted recast really is a shame because now they won't be able to do flashbacks to the best scenes the show has done to date.
    • That would be an AMAZING twist.
