It was likely a "We're not going to fire one without the other" so they fired both in order to bring Chris Van Etten back in..... woof.

While Sonny probably does not at all deserve a happy ending, chances of that (Sonny dead) happening if the show was cancelled tomorrow are slim to none. So I have no problem with him riding off into the sunset with Brenda. I just want Brenda to make him BEG for it given their last actual breakup scenes around 2011 resonated sharply. So they can't truly get back together until that is discussed I find with fans. Her return scene with Sonny in 2013 for the 50th anniversary is why I would want them back together myself. Nothing like seeing Brenda written in character which she truly wasn't IMHO in 2011...even if the rest of the storyline was RC silly (for some).

I can see that. Partly. Wasn't there a rumor about a lawsuit allegedly at one point due to having them both being let go?

I know nothing about a lawsuit; but, I cannot recall the last time a head writing duo got half of them let go while the other half was kept.

There was definitely a stupid rumor that they had been fired because they went out on strike & so were suing because of that but honestly, that's just stupidity. 

It was definitely thought that Dan was going to sue them in some wrongful termination setting which I do not see any way it could exist because they can be fired for cause any contract cycle date with most people having 13 week cycles. (Some have 26 week cycles. Those are preferential contracts. I'm sure none of these writers had one.) And cause could be as flimsy as bad ratings.

Because of Korte I feel good about Jarly, Carly & Jason. 

Because of Van Etten I feel bad about Heather. 

Because of the evidence onscreen I feel bad about Kraze - new.

Because of the evidence onscreen I feel bad about POC.

I've just seen a poster praise Ava for saving Donna's life. If she'd really consumed a handful of actual lithium, it's true, it could've killed her. I mean she took enough to get a stomach ache. That would've been enough in a child that small. That they were placebos saved her life. Without meaning to Ava did something right. 

Because of the evidence onscreen, suddenly, I feel good about Sonny, which I don't think I've ever typed those words before. 

Frankly, I'm confused.

Tbf I have zero 90’s relationship with Sonny and Brenda and only have seen them from Brenda’s return during the awful Balkin story, but there was definitely chemistry but that doesn’t erase 20 years that I’ve watched(well ignore the ones I skipped) of Sonny being a mobster and having several people killed. Sonny is no hero and should be shot and killed alone as his ultimate ending. 

There are plenty of Brenda, Sonny, and Sonny/Brenda haters out there.  Brenda really doesn't deserve to be paired with Sonny and all his baggage, but I think watching some 90's Sonny/Brenda might help you appreciate them more and how much better Sonny can be (mostly lol).

For me, it kills two birds with one stone.  We aren't getting rid of Sonny or Mo, so we might as well get a story a good portion of the audience would enjoy with a character most of the audience wants back.   The second issue I think comes into play is that I don't think Vanessa/Brenda are coming back without a Sonny pairing and Mo pushing a bit.  I don't think it's right or fair, but Frank seems to really not want to go down that road.

Anyhow, I don't think any of us Brenda fans want her to just fall into Sonny's arms.  I think there needs to a strong change from Sonny and sacrifices made by him to get her back.   It also would make sense for Sonny to finally change and give up the business for her.  The love of his life and Sonny could move more to the background.  Brenda can lead 'their' stories. 

Honestly, if I have to watch Sonny it might as well be with someone I like to see him with.  Just my opinion, of course.

See, basically I hate Sonny, always have. That's why I belong to the Sonny ABC club ... Anyone But Carly! And, then, you go & do one of these posts & I remember, dammit I liked him with Brenda. How is that even remotely possible? I don't know how but I do know it's your fault! So there. I was so tickled last night after I watched DAYS it wasn't Leave It To Beaver that came on. It was Vanessa in Vegas!

On that note about Days, I was so annoyed Peacock kept sending me to Leave It to Beaver after every Days episode.  Why?  And pleasantly surprised to see Las Vegas the last few days.  I thought Peacock had finally figured me out, but I guess everyone is getting that up next..😂
