The View, General Hospital, GMA3: What You Need to Know, ABC, ABC Daytime

During the week of May 20-24, 2024, ABC’s daytime lineup consisting of “The View” (2.289 million), “General Hospital” (1.903 million) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.291 million) continued to post alarming numbers among the key sales demographics, each hitting, tying or close to their season low in both unrounded Women 18-49 and unrounded Women 25-54 rating.

Eight weeks into the second quarter, “The View” and “General Hospital,” in particular, are seeing significant erosion in both key demographics, the most among all daytime broadcast shows compared with the second quarter in 2023, with declines among demo viewers near or above 30%. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” is experiencing declines above 25%.

Among Women 18-49 viewers, ABC is down at least 30%, while CBS’ lineup is down by single digits during 2Q24 compared to 2Q23.

As for Toal Viewers, nearly every show gained compared to their week ago performance (week of May 13-17, 2024), except for the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.628 million) and “The Young and the Restless” (3.009 million). Despite gaining just +1,000 viewers over the week ago period, “General Hospital” averaged under two million viewers for the sixth consecutive week and the 12th time overall this season.

The only shows to see an increase compared to the same week last year were “The View” (+88,000), “TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.844 million; +77,000), “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.336 million; +10,000) and “NBC News Daily” (1.136 million; +166,000).

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of May 20-24, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.

Not mentioned in the article, but significantly important, is that "The Bold and the Beautiful" is the only other daytime broadcast show (excluding NBC's news-oriented programming) seeing significant double-digit declines among Women 18-49 viewers 2Q24 vs. 2Q23. The show is down nearly 20%.

Every other show is down single digits.

I saw them, I'm cackling the Sheacon wedding basically didn't do much overall. People probably tuned in expecting some kind of drama the "twists and turns" comments we got from soap sites & KB only to find a boring wedding with toe hors devours

Well gee that's what happens when you give constant middle fingers to your biggest and most loyal fanbases. Writing Finn OOC to prop Sheila and under the bus for Sheila, Hope too, SINN getting non stop sh*tty angst, barely any happiness cause they have to give Sheila relevancy, can't even give Finn a good reason to suddenly want 9 toes in his life after over a year of not caring if she lived or died

Even Thope was written beyond stupid. The Eric "dying" story could have been good but they dropped the ball, couldn't even be bothered to tell us what he was dying from

Brooke nowhere in site(not that I Like her but she is popular as is KKL), Thomas reduced to being a walking vibrator for Hope, Liam being the Puke he is

I could go on lmao

I will

The rape that was not a rape.

Zende walking the streets free.

Who is Luna's dad story that no cares about.

Not a good story being told on B&B

And again.....Finn looking stupid and totally clueless to prop a useless character in Sheila.

Bringing back unwanted characters back....Sheila and Murrrdddeerrrrr

Yes, I could go on too!

Preach Ron Preach @Soapsuds!! Bradley loves his S.A storylines and he basically ruined Zende by doing that. One of the few POC characters on the show & he does this, after what he did to Carter with Quinn basically "servicing" his boss' wife, which was gross AF even though Quarter were super hot lol

Sheila is supposed to be so popular and "brings ratings" then so many characters shouldn't need to be under the bus for her, written OOC for her or needed to give her relevancy

Jack Finnegan made more sense to be Luna's dad, the drama was literally there, would explain why Li hates Poppy other than "ruining her career" and why she dislikes Luna too

but not they go the cop out route with Loser Bill being her dad. this is his THIRD kid he didn't know about. oye vey
