Chrishell Stause (“All My Children,” “Days of our Lives”) is joining the cast of Amazon Freevee’s “Neighbours” as a series guest star, it was announced on Wednesday.

The “Selling Sunset” star will begin taping in July at the Australian soap’s studio. She will play a newly created character named Yasmine “Yas” Shields, a glamorous and successful businesswoman who is in pursuit of an exciting new opportunity.

“I am honored and excited to join such a beloved and iconic show!” said Stause. “Coming from the world of soaps in the U.S., it’s back to my first love in the entertainment industry. They pitched me an idea for a character, and I was immediately excited to figure out a way to make it happen. Ramsay Street, here I come!”

“We are thrilled to welcome Chrishell to the cast of ‘Neighbours,’” said executive producer Jason Herbison. “We created a character especially for her and we can’t wait for her to bring the storyline alive. Expect intrigue and surprises – and many implications for the residents of Ramsay Street.”

In addition to a career in soaps, Stause has appeared in several made-for-TV movies, including the Netflix thriller “Staged Killer,” and the Lifetime movies “A Rose for Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story” and “You’re Not Supposed to be Here,” which was nominated for a GLAAD Award this year.

Stause released her debut memoir, “Under Construction: Because Living My Best Life Took a Little Work,” in February 2022. That same year, she received the Best Reality Star award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards for her work on “Selling Sunset.” The show also took home Best Docu-Reality Show. Stause has also received a People’s Choice Award nomination for Favorite Reality Star, and in 2023, Variety recognized Stause as one of the 40 Most Powerful Women in Reality TV, and Us Weekly named her one of the Top 10 Reality Stars of the Year.

Currently nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, “Neighbours” returned to television in September 2023 after it was canceled in 2022 following a decision by Channel 5 in Britain to no longer carry the series.

In early 2023, Amazon announced plans to revive the series as part of its Amazon Freevee streaming video service. This service features premium movies and TV shows, including Originals and free ad-supported (FAST) Channels, available anytime for free.

“Neighbours” follows the lives, loves, and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourn. The series picks up two years after the finale in 2022, which was watched by millions of adoring fans.

Fresh episodes of “Neighbours” are released daily, Monday through Thursday, at 7:00 a.m. BST, on Amazon Freevee in the UK and the U.S. In other markets, the show streams on Prime Video, including in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Australia’s Network 10 retains first-run rights in Australia for the new chapter of the series.

Previous seasons of “Neighbours,” as well as over 100 iconic episodes, are currently available to stream on Amazon Freevee.During its initial run, “Neighbours” ran for more than three decades, garnering fans across the globe and helping launch the careers of several globally recognized stars, including Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, and Russell Crowe.

It's a savvy move for the show, as Chrishell seems to be much more in line with a potential new Neighbours audience than Mischa "I love the '00s" Barton (I say that having been fine with her run on the show). Neighbours has a lot of problems at present with its core which I hope they can address, but if you're going to do all the guest stars, she's one I can understand.

Having "Yas" as a name reminds me of this Succession meme which is stuck in my head.

    • BITD I was posting about how interesting it was that Denise had been with this same guy for simply years but they just did not marry - then that year they married!
    • Random takes from this week: - Bill’s been played way too soft by the actor. I just can’t buy him doing anything truly sinister. I wish he had more of that old-school Victor Newman edge. - On characterization: I’m fine with Leslie being shown as a narcissistic and cruel mother—as long as she doesn’t tip into full cartoon villain territory. Dani’s involvement in Nicole’s storyline feels natural to me, and I really like that Martín is such a hothead, which totally clashes with his polished political career. No wonder no one wants to confide in him. Also, I don’t mind Haley’s characterization at all. - I’m still annoyed they dropped the whole lawsuit storyline. That’s why I’m a bit hesitant about getting too invested in the June plot. Also: I can do without another instant-sibling storyline. - Ashley and Derek? Totally fine with them in small doses. That’s the best way to handle those two. - Thank God Ted is getting recast. I honestly couldn’t handle that constant swaying much longer. - Speaking of Ted: maybe I’m in the minority here, but that hotel set is hideous. The oversized boiserie makes everything look flat, and that artwork on the wall? Bland, ugly, and lifeless. - I’m 50/50 on the product placement. On one hand, it’s totally misplaced and campy—especially when it shows up in the middle of emotional scenes. It just feels wrong. But on the other hand… here we are talking about Febreze and Tide. So maybe it is working? I honestly don’t know. - I don’t have any issues with the fashion on the show overall, but André’s wardrobe is just off. Not in terms of style, but size. His tops are way too tight and actually make him look even shorter than he is. Same goes for Smitty. Both of them would seriously benefit from some larger blazers or chunkier sweaters.

Lyrics - Junkies down in Brooklyn are going crazy They're laughing, just like hungry dogs in the street Policemen are hidin' behind the skirts of little girls Their eyes have turned the color of frozen meat No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Joan Crawford has risen from the grave Joan Crawford has risen from the grave Catholic school girls have thrown away their mascara They chain themselves to the axles of Big Mack trucks The sky is filled with herds of shivering angels The fat lady laughs, "Gentlemen, start your trucks" No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Joan Crawford has risen from the grave Joan Crawford has risen from the grave no, no (Christina) no, no, no, no, no (Come to mother) no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no...
