I'm looking forward to getting to know all the characters. I can't wait to go on this journey with these characters and this show. It's been 25 years since we've had a new soap and B&B is the only soap left that I can say I have watched from the beginning (I was very young).

Anyway, the next 6 weeks hopefully will be fun and full of surprises.

I don't post much here, but I'm excited for Beyond the Gates. I'm often told I havent experienced a "real" soap since my introduction to soaps was Passions at age 10 which I loved, unpopular opinion around here, and once it ended I got into Ron's OLTL which I also enjoyed and followed up to its cancelation. No surprise here, but I started tuning into DAYS during Ron's stint since I loved his OLTL work, so all I know in soaps are really James E. Reilly and Ron Carlivati's writing style.

Excited to see this soap from the begining, as I'm from the DMV area and there is a real Farmount Heights, Maryland that boarders DC that she may have drawn inspiration from including the name from the luxury Fairmont DC Hotel. Also excited to see Daphnee Duplaix, always thought she was gorgeous on Passions, unfortunately her character Rachel had already left OLTL by the time I started tuning in.

If nothing else, I hope BTG proves to be successful enough to inspire CBS (and other networks) to invest in more, new soap operas.  Maybe they can't produce them on the same scale as they did 20-30 years ago - maybe we have to go all the way back to small casts and sets that consist of nothing more than doors and windows being hung on darkly painted walls by piano wires - but the genre is too important to our culture to let fade away completely.

    • Yes and I also loved how she focused on Chelsea and Naomi when she spilled Bill's involvement in all of this.
    • Danny: Don't drink it. Just hold it. Rocco drinks three laced cups.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
