I’m curious what (if any) impact the drama surrounding Paramount Global’s potential sale might have on the project, good, bad, or otherwise. Every week, it seems like a new deal is on the brink of happening, then scuppered.

At the risk of sounding bit insane, I wonder too about a future meteor crashing onto our planet and altering the destiny of the show. However, your question is interesting. For now though, there are countless uncertainties and numerous variables. Ask me, the marketing strategy and conceptualization of the show are paramount, coupled with the budget allocated for its execution. In my estimation, a half-hearted financial attempt is destined for disaster.

Well, the talks were all between Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony & Apollo Global Management, and Skydance Media, with the latter being the selected party. As of now, the merger is off, but I am gathering it's off altogether, given they declined the deals proposed by the other parties.

Let's not forget that CBS let The Talk limp along for 14 years.  And they're still keeping it on air through the end of the year, despite the fact that it was off for six months during the strike, and never recovered its audience.

Also, George Cheeks (aka the best grindr pseudonym in LA) championed the show during the upfronts, and he was promoted in the wake of Bob Bakish stepping down as CEO.

Bottom line is The Gates has to make a profit and attract the desire demographic (s).

So hopefully a financial structure is being put in place that doesn't mean the only way for the show to be in the black is a bare bones production model.

This commercial posted to Instagram by Retrosoaps made me nostalgic for what I'd hoped the advertising for The Gates would be like.  That voice could excite me into watching a leaky faucet.
