Wow, thanks so much for these clips. I can't stand CW's Nina and only ever saw her before for that short stint as the crazy sister on YR. Yep, she should have left her face alone, so pretty. Loved seeing Clint Buchanan as the attorney. LOL

I hated Ava so much in the beginning. Also never saw MW in anything else until GH. Then they gave her cancer when she left the show for a while, and I honestly missed her outrageous character. Didn't care for the whole cousin Denise DeWhatever that she came back as, but I love MW now and will forever.

Oh, and get RID of the head-bobbing Portia. Can we trade her straight out for Zeke?

I actually think not seeing MW in other shows hurts us.  I never watched ATWT and I do think we miss some context on an icon role.

Listen, she's pretty and seems good at the acting thing.  I just would never put her up for numerous roles.  I don't think I'd dislike her.  I just have always missed the charm other people see.

I only like about 10 characters currently on GH so my taste level is just probably way off though.

Why not? I liked her on Guiding Light but seeing her on The Young and the Restless made me love her.

Plus, I'd love to see her vs. Laura Wright again!

I think not knowing her work on World Turns does change things. New York soaps, as we know, were just built differently. And West carried World Turns.

Carly Tenney-Snyder was also a force to be reckoned with & CarJack & "True North" really do rival Jeva & "Always" but Ava Jerome is, like, the part Maura was born to play. I have noticed that Ava is strong enough that I do not see the edges of Maura in the performance, when with Oakdale's Carly, I always could see Maura underneath pulling the strings. I don't know if that will sense to you. The thing is they have no business putting Ava in situations where she is seen as weak.

What I should have said: Carly Lowe Munson (invalid) Dixon (invalid) Snyder (invalid) Snyder Snyder Snyder (ATWT)

IMO, MW's best-ever work was during her first stint (1995-1996) on ATWT, when her performances were so raw and natural that Marlena DeLaCroix labelled her as "a young Carroll Baker."  It was almost as if she did not know that she was working on a soap opera.

Since then, MW has done good work - on WT, then on Y&R, now on GH - but her performances also have become soapier, if you know what I mean.  Often, that is due to the writing, as soaps in general really don't develop characters like early Carly Tenney anymore; but other times, I feel it is due more to Maura's acting choices.

And as for Gina Toblerone?  This always reminds me of that moment in "Coming to America" when...well, just watch this clip and you will know what I am saying, lol.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
