B&B and Jacob Young had a fallout before (back in 1999). He happily returned to B&B after AMC's cancellation. Never say never in the entertainment world...

That said: dropping RIck and Maya was one of the super stupid decisions in the 2010s on B&B - alongside killing off Aly. The show had such a strong momentum going (2014-2015) and totally killed it.

Jacob Young presented some storylines to Bradley Bell for Rick, and he was shut down. Then, Bell ended up using the storyline, as presented, for other characters. Plus, he was p!ssed his image was used in the opening and was never paid for it after he went to recurring. Young, to my knowledge, has never spoken negatively about the transgender storyline, and was quite upset over Maya & Rick's split, and believed there were other ways the storyline could have gone. From his exit interview (x

I was just wanting an understanding of why the writers would see a story like Rick and Maya’s and assume it had a shelf life. Because it doesn’t in my eyes.
First of all, the writers said, ‘It’s run its course and we don’t really know where to go with the story.’ I even wrote a story for Brad that would work. He said it would never work, and then used it for the new cast members that just came on – the younger cast. So, he took my storyline that I wrote for them. I guess he liked it that much. Again, the writers say one thing, but I say financial. Because they didn’t want to pay two guys the salary rate that I was paid at. So, Ingo got to come in and do his thing, so I guess as time will tell. I’m not in any way looking to go that direction anyway. Like I said, if they really do need me for a few episodes here and there, I’m all there. But I’m not interested in going under a contractual situation again.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched a full week in B&B in quite some time because it’s so redundant. So I’m not entirely sure what storyline your referencing. Do you mind explaining that? Was it the one with Thorne?
Yeah, and the interns and all that. I had basically written that, but it was Rick being involved. They’ve augmented it a bit. It’s not exactly the same, but that storyline was meant to involve my character. I wrote a whole synopsis on it, he asked me to. And he really liked it but said CBS was going to give us hell if we tell this story. And he goes, ‘But I wish sometimes I was my father and could say to hell with them and do it anyway.’ So, I said, ‘Then let’s do it. Let’s do it anyway.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, let me think on it.’ And it just never came about for me. Which is great because it’s allowed me to shoot three films since I’ve been off the show, two of which will be on the Lifetime Network in early 2019. The third will be going into independent festivals, and the last I heard the guy who scored Iron Man 2 is going to be scoring it. It’s supposed to be a really cool edgy film with Ricky Garcia from the Disney Channel. It’s just a really great cast. It’s an interesting film. It’s like Training Day meets The Crow. Really Dark. ❞

Interesting.  I wasn't aware of the animosity between JY and BBell.

As for the returns, always good to see Thorne and Bridget.  But as mentioned, what about Felicia and Kristen...I wonder if anyone reached out to Lesli Kay and Tracy Melchior?  I wonder what both are up to these days.

    • Not me, I am having withdrawals, I need that soapy drama lol
    • I faintly remember the tv movie where Ted Danson played the lead.. my late mom liked the movie and she also read a few of the novels and enjoyed them.
    • Columbia is the U.S. release. CBS is the international release.

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
    • Hahaha - this is hilarious (and a ton of wigs at use!). The closing shot!!! LOL
    • Yes. I don't know if Lenore was ever asked. Then it became a nun. Thanks. I didn't realize it was in 1987. That timeline doesn't make a lot of sense even if she would have had Ed to interact with. If they didn't ask her back in 1989 and she was willing, what a stupid error. The attempts at these feuds, or even the whole families tied together stuff like Maryanne Carruthers, never had any real impact because of how depleted the Bauers felt even by the mid '80s. And instead of expanding them, which would have been common sense, various producers were just too lazy, or too ashamed, and kept bringing on other families, or bringing in too many people at one time and not knowing how to write for them (the Spauldings in the McTavish era - as SOD said at the time, everyone in the family had the same personality).
    • Wasn't there talk of them bringing back Rita as Gus' mother at one point? Or something?
    • I think they are a part of the same family, although Carla was never really scheming for the same reasons, and once her double life was exposed, she stopped.
    • Rachel/Ada, Mona/Erica, a mother/daughter at LOVING, these are all examples of the Agnes Nixon "troublesome daughter/put upon mother" trope. Are Carla/Sadie by any chance one of the pairs that make up this trope? Another thing that these 2 shows might have in common. OLTL had a very strong thematic approach to socioeconomic differences between groups of people. Class differences. AW at an earlier point had this too but to be clear it was not as much as OLTL. So that is a similarity but marginal.  Besides that, I see no other comparable things. Paul Rauch was a very different EP at different shows. Oh, I've thought of one more thing. Using actors from the Broadway stage.  But, realistically that was something all of the NY shows had in common. So I don't think it has any uniqueness between AW & OLTL.
