Like this, it won't embed, did something change? @Errol

I have observed the same thing with other online places that try to embed tweets ... it won't embed if the URL is x.com ... but the same tweet will embed if you change the URL of the tweet to twitter.com

I guess it takes a while for sites to reconfigure for embedding x.com

So when I post a link just change the x part to twitter?

As others pointed out, it takes time for sites to be able to embed content from different social media companies, particularly when there is a domain change. While X.com is a real website, for the most part, it redirects to twitter.com when it comes to sharing links. Also, our software provider has not yet provided a conversion to X (formerly Twitter) for social. Once an update is available, it'll be implemented.

@Errol
This evening December 15, 2023, tweets stopped embedding.
As always, with x.com just the URL shows.
NEW: with twitter.com, the words and name and date of the tweet show but in text format and there are no images.
And the date seems to display in UTC instead of in my local time.

I tried to post this tweet
https://twitter.com/bethharrisap/status/1735825564169306583

and this is what I got:

I looked through some previously posted threads here at SON and all the embedded tweets are displaying the same way right now.

I think it's more so to do with Twitter / X than the board, because I see it on another forums, too.

You're right.  Tweets that were already embedded on news sites from before and looked fine, now won't display properly.  So embedding is broken all over.

@Errol  Wednesday morning January 10, 2024.
Previously-embedded tweets no longer display correctly.  New ones won't either.   Embedding is working elsewhere, so I think this time it's a SON issue.

It's not working on the main SON page for the embedded tweet in this link:
https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2024/01/general-hospital-2023-end-credits-people-behind-the-scenes-port-charles

Nor is it working in the associated SoapsLine board thread for same topic.

But the tweet itself is still active.

Update, twitter embedding is still working on several other messageboards on other hosting platforms, which is why I thought it was a SON issue.
But I noticed it's not working on a soaphub article and on a news site.

In every case/place that I saw embedding wasn't working, I tested by clicking on the outline or date of the tweet, and the tweet itself opens in a new tab fine, but it won't display embedded.
So it's not just SON-related ...
but it's not as widespread as the mid-December 2023 problem was.

update January 13.
I still cannot see embedded tweets in Chrome. But nobody else seems to be mentioning an issue so I just checked other browsers.
I can see embedded tweets properly displayed in Firefox.
But not in Microsoft Edge and not in Chrome.
I'm viewing from a Windows PC.

Using your link from earlier in the thread above, I'm not seeing any issues with embedding Tweets simply by pasting the URL. Using a Mac and Chrome - Version 120.0.6099.216 (Official Build) (arm64).

Do you have an updated version of Chrome? or Edge?
