2023 Out of Left Field Pairings

In soaps, so often the best pairings are unexpected and almost out of left field. Think B&B’s Clark/Sally or Owen/Jackie. AMC’s Opal/Palmer. Y&R’s Lauren/Michael

Who do you want to see paired up in 2023?

Y&R Victoria and Chance: Who doesn’t love two big families coming together? There is a bit of a forbidden fruit here since Chance used to be married to Vic’s sister. It would give Chance’s portrayer the chance of a front burner storyline. He’s talented and deserves the chance. Maybe Chance helps protect Victoria as she gets threatening notes from a back from the dead JT. Chance and Vic go into hiding, leading to romance.

Y&R Daniel and Kevin: They have had more chemistry with each other than their romantic pairings. Maybe Chloe gets stuck abroad for a few business trips, leaving Kevin to feel like a single dad. Daniel offers a helping hand, knowing what it takes to raise a child alone. The long hours together leads to an innocent kiss, or something more?

    • So yesterday I wandered off on a tangent about Elvis Presley, off the top of my head. Probably no one cares but I want to correct facts. Elvis Presley did have a twin who was stillborn. They named him Jesse Garon Presley & in a level of their emotional life he was very real to Elvis's mama & to a lesser degree to Elvis himself. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled discussing post-Ron prattle.
    • They are the absolute stars for me. I’m delighted every day that my feelings about them from the special on the show, turned out to be that and so much more. I genuinely feel episodes are better when they’re featured. This cracked me the hell up especially with Leslie listening

. This episode was so good, I will be rewatching when I get home tonight. THIS was classic soap opera.
    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
