ARTICLE: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Star Michael Graziadei Engaged After Proposing to Longtime Girlfriend on ‘The Talk’

On the Tuesday, March 21 episode of “The Talk,” Michael Graziadei appeared alongside his co-stars Camryn Grimes, Bryton James and Christel Khalil from “The Young and the Restless” as part of the ongoing 50th anniversary celebration for their show. In a surprise move, Graziadei proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Carey, who accepted without hesitation.

In the lead-up to the proposal, co-host Amanda Kloots noted that Lauren was in the audience and how the two share twin boys, Arlo and Oliver (aka Bear). Then she asked his co-stars which of them got to meet the bundles of joy, to which Khalil and James confirmed they had, and in fact, part of their meeting the tikes led to early conversations of Graziadei coming back to the soap on a full-time basis. “They are adorable. Lauren is fantastic, and I’m glad it all worked out,” said James of meeting the happy family.

After teasing him about how the secret of his return to the show was far from a secret from the rest of the show’s cast, co-host Natalie Morales pointed out how Graziadei is full of surprises, and she thought he might have just one more in the bag.

Handing things over to Graziadei, the actor shared that it was Lauren’s birthday the day prior, and he wondered if he could bring her on stage for what he was about to do. After initial hesitation, she took his hand and stood as he began telling their love story to the audience. “This is my beautiful girlfriend, Lauren. We’ve spent the better half of 10 years together…she’s given me beautiful twins, and I just wanted to do something special for your birthday. So I was thinking, you know, how there is no one on this earth that I would rather grow old and die with. So, I was wondering…if you would marry me? Is that a yes? She said yes!”

After all the smiles, claps and happy tears were shed, Lauren was handed a dozen roses, focused on Khalil and James and told them, “I guess I can thank you two for this because he can afford the ring now.” Co-host Akbar Gbajabiamila then asked her if she ever saw this coming, to which she responded, “I mean, it’s been 10 years, so I figured it was never going to happen.” As for how he was feeling, co-host Sheryl Underwood asked Graziadei that very question, and he jokingly said, “I have to pee.”

When asked how it feels to share such milestone moments with her fellow castmates, Grimes said, “We’ve been with each other through the good and the bad, the highs, the lows, break ups, you know, loses and marriages. You’re looking at it, you’re looking at the connectivity of a family, and we’re just so lucky that we get to be with each other every day.”
